Daenerys Targaryen- Siblings (c)
You pulled your brush through you younger sisters' long hair, doing your best to make it presentable, having dismissed both of your handmaids, wishing for time just between yourselves. It wasn't a happy day for you to visit your younger sister though. The whole of your childhood, you had been close, inseparable even however into your adulthood, you were shipped across Essos in a marriage arranged by your brother. Rarely were you to see each other due to the distance but now that your brother had arranged for her marriage, you were both reunited, so that you could support her how you had wished you had someone to support you.
Daenerys had been betrothed to Khal Drogo, a man she had not missed but who had promised Viserys 40,000 strong army to help him 'reclaim' the iron throne. Even though he was your little brother, Viserys was the most self-righteous person you knew and even with shared blood, you couldn't bring yourself to consider him family.
"It is going to be okay Dany," you whispered, knowing that it wasn't a completely true statement.
You had been lucky with your arranged marriage. Even if there was no love at first, you ended up falling for him and were now happily married. The two of you had four children to be heirs to his throne and it was a life that you would have always dreamed of and it was far better than you could have ever expected from the marriage. Viserys, although your younger brother, had arranged for the marriage to gain the support of your husband's city however due to the abuse you received at your brothers hands the deal was dropped after your marriage. You could only hope that Daenerys' marriage would go as swimmingly.
"I do not wish to marry this man," she whispered. "The only good thing that could possibly come from this is no longer being near Viserys."
You let out a sigh. You remembered back to before you met your betrothed and how you felt exactly the same.
"You do not know if you will marry him though Dany. We could hope that he doesn't wish to marry you; then you'll have some time before Viserys finds someone new for you to marry, and we can hope his ego shall kill him first," you offered, trying to find the positives in this situation.
She let out a weak laugh. "We can only hope. Although Viserys will not be pleased and I fear what he shall do."
"Do not worry about him Dany. I shall not leave you until you are wed, I shall not allow him to hurt you. If this arranged marriage does not work, I shall try to take you back to my home to stay until you find a suitor."
Daenerys turned around to you giving you a loving smile. "Thank you, Y/N, I do not think I could cope with this if you were not here."
Before you were able to say anything more, Viserys barged straight into the room, disregarding manners, not that you'd ever really seen him use such a thing.
"Why are you not ready?" He boomed.
"Perfection takes its time," you commented, rising from your seat to make your way in front of your younger sister so that you were between the two.
"You better not ruin this for me sister," he said pointedly. "She is to marry Khal Drogo and I shall receive my army to gain my rightful place on the throne."
You couldn't help your eyes roll as you made you way to grab a shawl for your sisters. Before you could return to her, having only taken a few paces across the room, Viserys had filled the gap between them and allowed his fingers to dig into the flesh of her arm.
"I don't want to marry him," Daenerys said quietly.
"I do not care what you want. You shall do whatever is needed to get me back my throne."
Disregarding the shawl, you pulled your brothers hand from your sisters' arm.
"Do not lay a hand on her," you hissed, pushing him away from the two of you.
"Who are you to talk to me?" He retorted, puffing out his chest in an attempt to make you fear him.
A smirk curled onto your lips. "Thanks to you, dear brother, I am a Queen. I am married to a King and my son shall follow in his footsteps. You however are trying to claim a throne that his already sat upon. Yes, it was father's, but I would rather the usurper rule the Seven Kingdoms, than you."
Viserys raised his hand to strike you, but you caught his wrist.
"Do not strike me brother. At the moment this is a familial discussion, if you were to strike me it would be deemed a treacherous act. My husband's guards stand outside of the door, all I need to do is scream and they will arrest you and take you to be tried. I outrank you brother, and as I doubt you shall win the war even with a Dothraki army, so shall our dear Dany, we shall both bear the name of Queen and you shall still be the pauper."
His face flushed, out of embarrassment and anger combined as he lowered his hand. He cleared his throat, straightening his clothing before speaking to you once more.
"The Dothraki approach, do hurry along both of you," he stated.
"We shall be there in good time, brother. Even if we are to be late, this Khal shall be a fool to deny his hand to our sister," you smiled at Daenerys. "Now do run along to great our guests and do not forget to announce our sister's arrival it shall be a moment we all shall wish to remember once she is a Khaleesi."
You could tell he wished to let his anger take over as he did on most occasions but knew for once when to hold his tongue until he left the room to do as he was told leaving your sister smiling up at you.
