You had never been able to justify to yourself why you were so terrified of being rejected. You had made a habit of staying silent in regard to whoever you had feelings for so that you did not get rejected.

With Daenerys you wanted to tell her how you felt, you wanted her to know just how deep your feelings went for her, but you were more terrified of rejection with her than you ever had been with any of your previous flames.

Your house had been a rival of the Targaryen's for many moons, the fact that you had even been a position on Daenerys' guard was a very big deal. That was not to say that the rest of the guard were wary over you, but you were staring to think that you were gaining their favour.

"Y/N?" your fellow guard called your name as you walked, you turned around to face them with a smile. "Khaleesi wishes to speak with you."

You nodded in thanks before you made your way to Daenerys' chambers. When you reached the large door you knocked, not wishing to go in until you had been given permission.

"Enter," you heard Daenerys' voice from behind the doors and so you pushed them open to go in.

"You wished to speak with me?" you questioned, standing by the door as you noticed Daenerys over by her balcony.

She turned at the sound of your voice and smiled in your direction. "Yes," she confirmed. "Please come over here."

You made your way over to her balcony and stood next to her as she looked out over the view. "Is everything okay Khaleesi?"

She nodded, leaning against the balcony wall. "Yes Y/N but I asked you to come her in private so I could speak with you on a few matters."

"Please Khaleesi, ask me whatever you need."

Again, she nodded but she also smiled at you. "Why have I heard rumours that you guard your heart?" she questioned gently. "Has someone wounded you?"

You shook your head despite the confusion. "No Khaleesi, I have just never been able to give my heart to another."

"Do you hold any feelings towards anyone in our company?"

Despite being confused you were unable to lies Daenerys, you had never been able to lie to her. "Yes Khaleesi."

"Please, I do not wish for you to refer to me so formally when it is clear that I am the one you wish for your heart to be given to," you were unable to hide your surprise at her words.

You couldn't find any words to respond to her, so you simply stood there in silence.

"Rumours sometimes have truth Y/N, and I wish to know if this one does?"

Sighing, you realised you could no longer hide from your fear of rejection. "Yes Daenerys, it does."
