Daenerys Targaryen- Meereen (c)

"It's going to be okay Dany," you said softly. "They'll come around."

After speaking with the now freed slaves of Meereen, your queen had lost her smile and hope that had driven her this far through Essos. Many people who were once slaves or even those who had their freedom long before your arrival had come to speak with Queen Daenerys to seek guidance and explanation. Although she was offering them a world that was far better than they currently had, it was considered an ill fate to them due to the lack of familiarity in it. As her advisor, you stood by her side, offering her quiet words of guidance but knowing you could only share those words once out of the public eye.

Now you were alone in her chambers, Daenerys completely lost at the people's concerns for her reign, and you wished desperately that you could make it right for her but there wouldn't be such luck.

"I doubt it," she sighed. "You would think that they would be grateful to have freedom, to be their own men and women again but so many seek to be back in the hands of their masters."

You gave her a gentle reassuring smile. Daenerys appreciated having you there due to your generally cheery disposition and positive outlook even in the worst predicaments, but sometimes she didn't know how you were able to make such dreary occurrences seem like they had a bright end.

"It is all they know, it may not be a life that they should live, but all they know is being under someone else's command. They will learn that having control of their life is a good thing but at the moment I am sure it is daunting and terrifying for them as it is something they have never experienced," you offered. "You cannot expect a caged dog to happily run the fields when it is first released."

She pondered your words for a moment before nodding.

"It isn't fair though. They should have never been forced into such squalor. The masters care not for their lives or happiness, I just wish I could show them that and give them better opportunities but the masters do not want employees whom they pay a reasonable wage, they want slaves who they can easily dispose of."

"It will take time, and a good leader to show them how their lives could be. You needn't rush them into changing anytime soon, it will only push them away from you."

"Thank you, Y/N," she smiled softly. "I always appreciate your viewpoint."

"You're welcome, Daenerys."
