Nameday - Part 14 - Bronn x Reader

Bronn watched as Tyrion made his way towards his sister's tent. He had ridden as close as he could to the carriage all day. Finding that his grip on the reins would tighten whenever he heard a sound from one of the children inside. What he wanted to do was stop the carriage and rip the door open; he wanted to see her, to see his damn children. He wanted (Y/n) to sit there and listen to him. To understand that she was his woman, and he was not going to allow any other man to call her his; to have the twins call anyone else, father. Yet he had thought better of it; the sellsword not worried about the bannermen that would surely try to stop him, just that if he wanted to prove that he could be more than he showed the world; that he could be what (Y/n) needed, then bursting into her carriage, was probably not the right way to go.

Slowly he continued to sharpen his sword. He couldn't help but wonder what the siblings were talking about; and the more that he looked at the tent that had been erected for the lioness and her cubs, the more his curiosity was getting the better of him. The sellsword pushing his blade back into its sheath then getting to his feet; making sure that the Lannister soldiers were suitably distracted, before quietly making his way over to the tent.

"He loves you........." Bronn heard Tyrion say, as he stopped next to the closed entrance to the typically elaborate lion's tent.

"Bronn doesn't know what love is, other than the love he has for himself. And as much as I would like to believe you, I am sure that I would end up just as miserable in the end. Maybe he would do his best to prove himself for a while, try to be a good husband and father; but eventually he would grow bored, get sick of married life and the responsibility. Then all it would need was one pretty face for him to betray me: to go back to spending all his time in the brothels.........I.......I don't think that my heart could take it. It would break me.........."

"You......you love him too; don't you.........?"

"Yes........I knew some time ago that I loved him. Even before I found out that I was pregnant. But I also knew that I couldn't say anything; that all I could do was deny it and bury the feelings as deep as possible. Perhaps if this was another time, another place then there might have been a chance that we could be happy; but as it is.........Bronn will always be Bronn........" The sellsword lowering his head at the sound of (Y/n)'s reply. She loved him too and he should be happy about that, yet despite that, there was still this chasm between them. A chasm that was pushing her to wed a man she didn't know or care about, instead of being with him.

He wanted to tell her that all that, was the old him; the old him that didn't care, that fucked who he wanted, drank as much as he liked because he was never sure if there would be a tomorrow. The man that didn't give a fuck about the notion of love; that scoffed at it and believed only fools allowed themselves to be tied down, because life, or his life at least, was too short to not enjoy everything that the world had to offer. But this.....this was the new him. He was the man that hadn't touched another woman in quite some time. That when he so much as even looked sideways at another woman, all he could think of was her, and how she made him feel. She the only person to ever make him believe that he was worth more than just to die while fighting in someone else's fucking battles. That someone might actually mourn him when he did die; and not leave his lifeless corpse to get picked over by scavengers. Bronn aware that he wasn't perfect, that he never would be, he would always say and do things that he possibly shouldn't. But he did believe that (Y/n) was perfect for him; and one way or another, he was going to prove to her that she could love him without being afraid of being hurt. That he would protect her and their children with his life; and that under no circumstances, would another man, ever have his family.

"Now. I really should get some rest. It has been a long day, and I am sure that we have a similar day ahead of us tomorrow. Though if you could perhaps persuade the carriage driver not to go so fast, I would appreciate it.......I am not in any hurry to get back to Kings Landing. In fact, he can take things as slow as he likes. I know I should not say this, but if the journey takes long enough, the old lord might have died before our father has a chance to marry me off........." Bronn heard (Y/n) add. The sellsword quickly rushing back over to the fire next to which he had been sat; pulling back out his sword, just before Tyrion appeared from the tent and made his way over to him.
