You love her. Don't you? - Part 3 - Theon x Reader
The third, and final part of this imagine. I hope that you enjoy 😊🦑
(Y/n) woke. The bright rays of the new day sun illuminating her room. With a heavy groan she buried her head under the thick blankets and furs that covered her bed. She had tried to stay awake as long as she possibly could. Tried to stop the coming morning. But eventually she had dropped, exhausted, onto her bed. Her eyes unable to remain open a moment longer.
Maybe if she stayed in her bed, hidden under her bedding, (Y/n) could avoid what was to come. Maybe the gods would look down on her and not allow the mark to appear. But (Y/n) knew that no matter what she did, what she wished, soon her mother and Sansa would come to her room and pull her from her bed. That they would take her to breakfast with the rest of the family, where she would have to pretend that she is looking forward to the evening's festivities. That her mother will spend all day trying to talk her into wearing a dress that she didn't want to wear. And then in the middle of the celebrations, when (Y/n) should be at her happiest, the mark that will ruin her life, will materialise. (Y/n) also knew that it didn't matter if a soul mark didn't appear on her wrist or not. It would still just mean that Theon was someone else's soulmate.
"Good morning." A cheery voice suddenly called out. (Y/n) groaning as she felt the side of her bed dip. Sansa bouncing up and down excitedly.
"Go away." (Y/n)'s mumbled voice replied from under the pile of furs. Sansa doing her best to pull them from her older sister's head.
"Sansa. I'm not coming out. Go away. Leave me alone." (Y/n) continued, as she pulled back her bedding. Crawling into a small ball and hoping the world would just disappear.
"But (Y/n). Its your name day. Your soulmate day. You should be happy." Sansa told her. Her younger sisters' jovial tone, already beginning to get on (Y/n)'s last frayed nerve.
"I don't care. And I'm not." (Y/n) called out, despite knowing that she was beginning to sound like a petulant child.
"(Y/n)." Her mother's voice came. (Y/n) realizing that she might have been able to argue with Sansa, but there was definitely nothing that she could say to her mother. (Y/n) reluctantly poking her head out from under the furs as Catelyn took a seat on the bed next to Sansa.
"I know how you feel, my sweet. I know that it is a big thing to face. But you can't hide from your destiny. I am sure that no matter what mark appears on your skin this evening, it will be for the best. And whoever your soulmate is, they will make you happy." Catelyn said softly, as she brushed (Y/n)'s hair way from her face.
Catelyn knew that her daughter and Theon loved one another. Even when the two young people didn't know it themselves, Catelyn had known that when this day came, that both (Y/n), and Theon's lives could be turned into turmoil. Yet she also knew that there was nothing that she could do about it. Even though she would give everything she had to ensure her daughters happiness. The decision of soulmate, was made by the gods.
"Why don't you get dressed? Your father and the rest of us will be waiting at the breakfast table. You have my word that we will make this the best day we possibly can." Catelyn tried to reassure, as she pulled (Y/n) into an embrace. (Y/n) doing her best not to cry.
"Don't be long." Catelyn added, before she and Sansa left the room. (Y/n) reluctantly dragging herself from her bed.
>>------------------------------<<
Theon dropped into his chair at the table, doing his best to ignore how happy the members of the family were. He had been up all night praying that the sun would not rise. Praying that the new day would never come. But as the sun began to appear over the horizon, the Ironborn had found himself cursing at the Drowned God. Cursing him for the sun, for ever allowing him to come to Winterfell. And for the soul mark that would appear on (Y/n)'s wrist.
"Will you cheer up. I know how you feel, but there's no reason to make this any harder on (Y/n) than it has to be." Robb whispered to his best friend. Hoping that he could somehow persuade Theon to put a smile on his face. Even if he didn't mean it.
"I don't want to be here. There's no reason for me to be here." Theon replied gruffly, as he leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. Robb looking over to Jon for some support. Both brother's knowing that the worst thing that could happen would be for Theon to disappear when (Y/n) needed him there the most.
"And you think that avoiding this, will make it go away? (Y/n) will be more unhappy than she already is, if you aren't here. How do you know that it won't be your sigil and name that appears on her wrist? And if it is, and you have vanished, (Y/n) will be devastated." Robb continued. He and the rest of the family looking up as (Y/n) hesitantly entered the room. Ned rising from his seat and going to embrace his oldest daughter. The others following suit as (Y/n) did her best to smile.
"Well? Go say something." Jon said quietly. Pushing Theon from his chair and over to (Y/n).
"Congratulation, (Y/n). I hope that you enjoy your day, and that you and your soulmate are very happy." Theon mumbled, doing his best to avoid looking at (Y/n) as he held out his hand for her to shake. His body trembling as he felt (Y/n)'s warm hand. Her fingers intertwining with his as she held his hand tight.
"Thank you, Theon. I hope so too." (Y/n) replied sadly. As she desperately fought the desire to pull the kraken prince into her arms. Knowing that if she did, she would never want to let him go.
"Come (Y/n) lets sit you down." Catelyn said, taking hold of her daughters' arm, and pulling her away from Theon. The Ironborn's head rising quickly, as (Y/n)'s hand disappeared from his. His heart breaking as he looked at (Y/n)'s face. It more than obvious that she had already been crying.
>>-------------------------------<<
(Y/n) looked at herself in the mirror. She had admit that the lady's maid had done a good job, and for once she actually looked like the lady that her mother was always tried to get her to be.
It had been a long day, and even though her family had done their best to try and make her as happy as possible, (Y/n) had felt an emptiness in her heart that she knew may never leave her. Theon had done all he could to try and avoid everything throughout the day. Not having him near, making an already difficult situation even worse. And all (Y/n) could do was think that the man she loved. The man whose name she desperately hoped would appear on her wrist. Didn't really care after all. It was true that (Y/n) had never told Theon how she felt. But she had always presumed that he realised. But now she knew that it was too late to tell him. And that he may not even feel the same way for her, as she did for him.
"You look beautiful, (Y/n). You have always been beautiful, but tonight you are even more so." Catelyn said. Kissing (Y/n) on the top of the head as she came up behind her daughter. The two of them looking at their reflections in the mirror.
Despite how much she had protested, (Y/n) was dressed in a deep grey gown that her mother had sewn for the occasion. Her hair pulled back neatly in a braid that lay over her shoulder.
"The guests are beginning to gather. The music is playing, and the wine is flowing. The only thing that the festivities are missing, is the guest of honour. So, why don't we go down, and show the whole of the Seven Kingdoms what it is to be a Stark." Catelyn said, as she slowly helped (Y/n) to rise from her seat and escorted her out of the room.
>>--------------------------------<<
There was an air of expectation in the Great Hall. The guests were assembled, each of them waiting to see the she wolf, and find out who the lucky man would be. As the oldest daughter of the Lord and Lady of the north, (Y/n) was quite a prize, and a number of lords were hoping that it would be their sigil and name that would appear on (Y/n)'s skin. But not one of them was hoping as much as the kraken that was sat away from all the commotion. Already nursing his second glass of wine.
Theon had done his best to try and avoid the celebrations throughout the day. But now he couldn't escape it. Robb and Jon had forced him into his best clothes. The two brothers taking him by the arms and pulling him from his rooms to the Great Hall, telling him that the least he could do was show his face, if not for himself, then for (Y/n) and the family. Now he sat, stewing as all those around him waited for (Y/n) to arrive.
Suddenly the crowd fell silent. The doors to the Great Hall opening to reveal (Y/n) escorted by Ned and Catelyn. Both of the parents beaming with pride as they presented their child to the crowd.
Theon stood from his chair, his eyes wide, and mouth agog as he stared at the vision before him. The Ironborn prince not noticing that he had dropped his glass to the floor. The goblet smashing into tiny pieces and the dark liquid seeping through the cracks in the stone floor.
He had never seen (Y/n) look like this before. She was more beautiful than he had ever seen her look. More exquisite than even he had imagined possible. And as she stood before the amassed dignitaries, a soft sad smile gracing her features, Theon couldn't help but feel that his heart had finally shattered and would never be repaired.
"It'll be alright." Jon said quietly, as he came up behind Theon. Jon smiling as he watched Ned and Catelyn begin to introduce (Y/n) to the most eligible men.
"Who asked you." Theon growled, not liking the fact that Jon seemed once again to be sticking his nose in where it didn't belong.
"I'm just trying to help. Just because you are too foolish to tell (Y/n) how you feel before you could lose her forever. Doesn't mean that you can take it out on me, or (Y/n)." Jon replied with a huff, as he turned to leave Theon to his mood.
>>-------------------------------<<
(Y/n) thanked the young man that she had just been dancing with. The she wolf finally able to take a seat back at the head table next to her mother and father. She had done her best to try and enjoy her name day. She had danced with all the young men that her parents had wanted her to. Yet she had not had the chance to dance with the only man that she really wanted to. She had watched Theon sit in the shadows by himself all evening. And she couldn't help but be saddened by the fact that if this was her last night in her home, the last night with her family, that the young kraken hadn't said anything to her. Yet she still held out hope that the gods had listened to her prayers.
Suddenly the skin around (Y/n)'s wrist began to burn. The she wolf pulling at her sleeve as the flesh began to redden.
"Mother!" (Y/n) exclaimed, as Catelyn took her daughters hand in hers. The two woman watching as dark marks slowly began to appear.
"Ned. It's time." Catelyn told her husband. The Stark patriarch gathering his other children around (Y/n) as they all waited with bated breath to see who would claim their sister.
(Y/n) continued to watch as the mark grew little by little. Her eyes growing wide as the full mark finally appeared. Tears rolling down her cheeks as she now knew who she was destined to be with.
"Go tell him." Catelyn said softly, as she helped (Y/n) from her seat. The family watching as (Y/n) made her way through the expectant crowd. The mark pressed against her heart as she made her way over to her soulmate.
>>------------------------------<<
Theon spun around as he felt a tap on his shoulder. His eyes falling on the face of (Y/n), who was brushing tears from her cheeks. A faint sweet smile pulling at the corners of her lips as she looked up at him.
"I know who it is. I know who my soulmate is." (Y/n) began, as she moved a little closer to Theon.
"Congratulations. I hope that you are both very happy." Theon replied, as he turned away. Not sure that he could look at the woman that he was about to lose.
"Yes. I was hoping that you might know him. According to the mark, his sigil is the kraken, and his name is Theon. You wouldn't know anyone like that would you." (Y/n) continued. The young woman smiling broadly, as Theon spun back around and grabbed at her wrist in disbelief. The Ironborn doing his best to hold back the emotions that he felt wanting to burst from his body, as he saw that it was true.
"I might." Theon responded, as he pulled (Y/n) into his arms. The two looking at one another, with tears of joy in their eyes.
"Hello. It's nice to meet you. My name is Theon. And I'm your soulmate." Theon stated, as he rested his forehead against (Y/n)'s. Both Theon and (Y/n) knowing that she would now never have to leave her home, leave her family, or the man that she loved, and loved her in return.
