The ties that bind - Part 1 - Jaime x Reader
So, if any of you read my imagine 'Love again' I gave you a glimpse of what could happen when Jaime left the woman he married and never returned; but I have decided to look from the other aspect, and show what could happen if he did. This is a lot more angst than I normally write, but I hope you enjoy 🦁✋
Jaime sat in Jon's rooms, Jon still unable to believe that his sister's husband was alive, never mind in his rooms at Castle Black. When he had left (Y/n) to return to be by Cersei's side, neither Jon nor (Y/n) thought that they would ever see him again; and when they had heard that the twins were dead, the possibility of (Y/n) ever seeing the man she once thought loved her, was lost completely.
Jon had expected his sister to weep when she had heard Jaime had died, but (Y/n) had already done her grieving long before his death, and made it more than abundantly clear to her brother that she no longer cared whether Jaime Lannister was alive or dead.
Normally Jon would have been shocked by his sisters coldness, a coldness that was in complete contrast to her usual warm and loving nature; but he had seen the after effects of Jaime's abandonment, seen what (Y/n) had gone through, and he couldn't say that he blamed her.
The only thing that had (Y/n) had left to prove that she had ever even known the Kingsguard, was a beautiful blonde haired boy with deep green eyes that she had named Jayrion for his father and uncle, a boy that she would do anything for.
"Do you think that she will see me?" Jaime asked nervously, as he got to his feet and began to pace the floor.
"I'm not even sure that I want to see you, never mind let you see (Y/n). Do you have any idea what you did to her, any idea what she went through when you left? I am surprised I didn't lose her when she had .........." Jon began angrily, only stopping when he realised that he might have already let (Y/n)'s secret slip.
Jaime had left (Y/n) before she had chance to tell her husband that she was with child. Her pregnancy had been long and hard, she had been sick for most of it, and Jon could swear that she was going to die; but just like him she was tougher than she looked, and with his help, and the help of Tyrion, she had pulled through.
"I don't know what to say. I..........I want nothing more than to make up for what I've done. I just hope.............." Jaime began to explain, only stopping as a small boy rushed into the room, squealing happily as he was chased by an older boy.
"Uncle Jon." The boy exclaimed with a giggle, as he hid under Jon's cloak, the older boy prowling around the pair as both Jon and Jaime looked at the two boys in confusion.
"Gunik says that he's a Walker, and that he is going to get me. But I said that you would save me." The little blonde boy said, laughing as he looked out at Gunik from between Jon's legs.
"Of course, I will protect you Jayrion." Jon declared with a chuckle, reaching for a stick that he kept by his chair, pretending to stab the older boy with it. The Lord Commander forgetting all about Jaime who continued to watch on, his eyes focused on the little boy that now sat triumphantly on the "dead" Gunik's stomach.
"See. I told you Uncle Jon could defeat any Walker." Jayrion announced, as Jon helped both boys to their feet.
"Jayrion. Where is your mother?" Jon asked, suddenly remembering that Jaime was there. The shocked look on the lion's face not going unnoticed by Jon as he continued to stare at Jayrion.
"Mother is with Uncle Tyrion." Jayrion explained, looking between his uncle and the other older man in the room.
"Uncle Jon. Who's that?" Jayrion whispered. The little boy hiding behind Jon's chair as Jaime moved forward.
"That?........... Well that's..............."
"Jayrion! What did I say about you two disturbing your uncle?" (Y/n)'s voice called out with a chuckle, as her son rushed into her arms. His mother picking him up and walking over to Jon so that she could kiss her brother on the cheek.
"But Gunik was a Walker, so I had to come and get Uncle Jon to kill him." Jayrion pointed out innocently, as he rested his head on his mothers' shoulder.
"(Y/n)." A voice nervously said from behind her. (Y/n) turning and almost collapsing in shock, as she stared in disbelief at the man in front of her.
"Ah good, you found him." Tyrion called out, laughing as he walked into the room, looking (Y/n) up and down as she stood as still as a statue. A look of horror on her face that Tyrion wasn't sure that he could find the right words to describe.
"(Y/n) are you alright? You............."
"Hello, Tyrion." Jaime said, cutting his brother off midsentence. Tyrion turning and staring at the brother that all present thought was dead.
"It's good to see you again brother." Jaime continued with a nervous smile, as he looked between Tyrion and (Y/n).
"But.........but you're dead. You died with Cersei." Tyrion declared, instinctively reaching for (Y/n)'s hand, gripping it tight as the two continued to stare at the man that was nothing like the golden lion, they both remembered.
The formally proud, cocky, almost peacock like Kingsguard, now looked dishevelled and scruffy. His once brilliant head of blonde hair was now darker, with a straggly beard covering his features. His bright eyes now looked dull, tired, and there was something behind them that his brother couldn't quite put his finger on.
Tyrion could feel (Y/n) shake as he held her, but he didn't know whether it was because happiness or hatred. He himself wasn't sure how he should feel. He had been by (Y/n)'s side since Jaime had left, he was the one that she and Jayrion ran to if they needed help. He was the one that she came to when she needed comfort, when she needed to confess that she hated Jaime and everything he had done. He had loved both (Y/n) and Jayrion as if they were his, and he had had every intention of asking (Y/n) to marry him; but now, now Jaime was back, probably wishing to reclaim his bride and his child, and Tyrion couldn't help but feel angry.
"Tyrion. Would you please take Jayrion to my room? I have something to do here." (Y/n) asked quietly, as she placed her son on the floor. Allowing the little boy to take his uncle's hand, Tyrion looking between his brother and (Y/n).
"(Y/n). Are you alright?" Tyrion asked nervously, as he saw the look of anger in (Y/n)'s eyes as she turned to look at him.
"I'm fine, Tyrion. Please, just take Jayrion to my room." (Y/n) replied, giving the little man a small smile as he turned to leave.
"(Y/n). I.........I'm sorry. I will do anything that you want, if you will only allow me to............" Jaime began, only to find himself stopped from speaking as (Y/n) slapped him hard across the face.
"You have yet to know what it is to be sorry. I died the day you left, and if it hadn't been for Jayrion, I would have happily joined the gods. There is nothing you can do, nothing you can say that can make up for what you did to me, what you did to us. I hate you Jaime Lannister, and I want you to leave. I want you to turn around and return to whatever hole you crawled out of. Go back to your sister, even as a corpse you probably still love her more than you ever pretended to love me." (Y/n) snapped, as she suddenly turned her attentions from the almost cowering Jaime to her brother.
"And you. I thought you loved me, loved Jayrion. Yet you let this........this creature in here to destroy what little life I have left." (Y/n) growled at a stunned Jon, who could do nothing but drop his eyes to the floor.
>>--------------------------------<<
"(Y/n). What are you doing?" Tyrion asked, as (Y/n) stormed into the room, calling out for her handmaiden.
"We are leaving Castle Black. I will take Jayrion to the free folk encampment and stay there until I can get word to Sansa. Hopefully she will take us in." (Y/n) told the little lion, desperately trying to hold back the anger that wanted to escape. Things flying around the room as (Y/n) and the maid began to pack her belongings.
"But you can't (Y/n). You belong here. What about your brother? What about me?" Tyrion asked, (Y/n) stopping and turning to face the little man.
"I'm sorry Tyrion. I, we can't stay. Not as long as he's here. And Jon betrayed me by even letting him in. I thought that after all this time that I could finally be happy, that I could finally forget everything, forget him. Yet here he is, back from the dead, an evil spectre sent to destroy the little happiness I do have. Well, I am not letting him ruin Jayrion's life like he did mine." (Y/n) explained, as she sat down on the bed next to Tyrion, slowly pulling out a length of ribbon from a pocket concealed in her gown.
"This is the ribbon that the Septon bound our hands with the day we were married. This and Jayrion are the only two things that prove that I ever knew your brother. I can't tell you why I kept it, or why I keep it with me always." (Y/n) said softly, as she reached for a small blade from the side of the bed, and sliced the ribbon in half.
"This tie no longer binds me to your brother. I want you to take this and give it to him. Tell him to take it back to your sister, tell him to sit on her grave and pine for his lost love, like the dutiful dog that he his." (Y/n) told Tyrion, placing the two lengths of material in his hands, before standing and continuing to pack.
