The lady in white - Jon x Reader

I don't know why, but I always seem to struggle to find the right imagines for Jon. I just hope that you all enjoy my latest offering for the pretty crow.

He had seen her from the moment he was brought back from the dead. She would always be there in his peripheral vision, just enough in the shadows of his world that he could never be sure whether she was real.

Jon could swear that he had seen her great white gown on the battlefield when the war had come. He could swear that he had felt her presence whenever an enemy got too close, the Walker seemingly cut down by an invisible force before any harm could befall him. But it was since his return to the Wall with Tormund and the others that he had begun to see her every night, a beautiful spectre that would appear as if from nowhere.

Since the death of Dany, Jon had been struggling to find his place in the world, struggling to live with what he had done; but there was something about the presence of the lady in white that had begun to make him feel as there was still something worth living for.

Every night she would lay with him and take him in her arms. There was part of him that knew she wasn't real, knew she wasn't there, but he refused to believe it. He convinced himself that the lady in white was real, because he needed her to be real.

She would never utter a word while she was with him, but she would listen. Holding him tight she would comb her fingers through his hair as he told her about the day, about all the comings and goings around Castle Black, and about how he was learning his new role in what seemed like a new world. Kissing his head, she would always nod at just the right moment so that Jon knew she understood.

As he waited for her to arrive, his eyes fell onto the door of his room, the moonlight illuminating the portal through which she would enter; his heart raced as she appeared, walking through the locked door. He sat bolt upright in his bed, his eyes meeting her pale grey orbs, a soft smile gracing her lips as she moved to the bed and sat down beside him.

"You came." Jon sighed happily as he placed his head into her lap, not noticing the simple nod and smile that she gave him in reply

"Please speak to me, I need to know you're real; I need to know that you aren't just a beautiful figment of my imagination." Jon pleaded, as he suddenly sat, taking the woman's face gently in his hands.

"Will my voice actually prove to you that I am real? Couldn't that too be a figment of your imagination? Isn't it enough to know that I come to you every night to hold you in my arms, and love you as you truly should be?" The lady sighed as she dropped her head.

Jon's face lit up. He knew that he could not imagine a voice so perfect. A voice that he would gratefully drown in for the rest of his life.

"What are you? Why do you come here?" Jon asked as he took her hand in his, praying that she would not suddenly vanish.

She raised her eyes to meet his. "What do you think I am? What do you want me to be?" The lady asked as Jon moved so close that he could swear that he could feel her heart beat.

"You're my angel, you have to be. You have to be real because I could never imagine something as perfect as you. You have to be real because you show me love like I've never known. You're the only one that has shown me that there is still something worth living for. I know you love me; I can feel it, but why do you? I know that I am not worthy of you." Jon told her, the lady watching as a single tear graced his stubbled cheek, Jon leaning into her touch as she brushed it away.

"I do love you Jon, I have love you since the first moment you were born. You are mine and you always will be." The lady replied, pressing a kiss to his forehead, as Jon looked into her eyes.

"W.... what d-do you mean, from the moment I was born?" Jon asked in disbelief, staring at her as she took a moment to answer.

"Each mortal being at birth is given a guardian angel. Guardian angels watch over their humans and guide them along their path. We cannot interfere with their destiny nor can we change it no matter how much we might wish to." She began, taking a deep breath before she continued.

"I have been with you since the beginning. I have been with you through all your trial and tribulations, all the good and bad that you have faced, watching as you grew into the man you are today. I saw what your life was to be, and I tried to convince others that you should not be allowed to go through all that you had to endure, all the loss that you must bear; but to stay with you I had to remain quiet and protect you as best I could." The lady informed him, Jon shaking his head in disbelief.

"How is it that I can see you now, why only since I returned from the dead?" Jon asked, the ladies expression turning sad.

"When you passed, part of you remained in the other world, but the part of you that returned brought back something with it, and it is that that allows you to see me. I needed you to know that I was by your side, that no matter what happened I would always be with you, and I just hope that you can forgive me if you ever felt alone." The lady said, a silent tear rolling slowly down her cheek as Jon brushed it away.

"There is nothing to apologise for, you have already given me more than I deserve. You have already given me a reason to want to live." Jon told her, watching as his lady stood up from the bed.

"There is something that I can still give you, something that no mortal has ever had."

"What?" Jon asked, his eyes widening as she removed the clasps from her white gown and the material fell to the floor.

"The love of an angel." She replied as she pulled back the covers on his bed and slipped between the sheets, her head falling back onto the pillow, her hand brushing against the skin of his chest.

"Love me Jon and I will give you everything I am." She moaned, as his hands caressed her flesh before leaning down and kissing her lips.

Jon's eyes opened slowly; his room was cold but that was no surprise, everything was always cold in the great castle. He reached over, but there was nothing but an empty bed, the sheets were icy and crisp, and spoke nothing of the passion that they had seen the night before between Jon and his angel.

Jon sat up quickly; a sudden fear running through his veins. Had last night all been a dream? A warped and twisted delusion? There was nothing that spoke of her presence, no indication that she had been there; but he felt different, he couldn't quite put his finger on it but he felt a warmth, he felt complete. For the first time in his life he felt whole, as if the last piece to his puzzle had truly slipped into place.

Jon waited in anticipation that night for his lover to arrive, but to his dismay she didn't appear, nor the next night, nor the next. His concern growing as he no longer felt her presence.

All he could think of was his angel. Where was she? Had he done something wrong that made her not come back? He felt empty and sick and paid no attention when the door to his room opened, and Tormund entered.

"There's a visitor at the gate fa ya. Said they needed to see the Lord of Castle Black." Tormund told him, taking a seat across from Jon, as his friend seemed to have drifted off into his own thoughts.

"Beautiful thing she is. Palest eyes I've eva seen. If I didn't know betta, I would say she wasn't of this world." Tormund chuckle, nearly jumping from his skin as Jon sprang to his feet and made for the gates.

"Good morning Jon." The angel said, smiling as Jon ran over to her, helping her down from her mount.

"You're here, you're really here." Jon said in a hushed tone, his hands taking hers as he slowly brought them up so that he could kiss her knuckles.

"I am my love. I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I'm here now and I'm never leaving you again. Certain sacrifices had to be made so that I could be with you. Sacrifices that I was happy to make. I am no longer immortal, no longer an angel; but I will always be with you if you will have me." His lady said, smiling as Jon took her into his arms.

"I can think of nothing I want more, my angel. Jon told her, holding her tight as he escorted his lady in white into the great castle, ready and willing for his new life to begin.
