I look around me as I run like hell,faced with the cold air of winter.My heart pounding in my chest,ready to burst out.But that can't stop me.I keep running.Running until I see the familiar warehouse we camped in.I have to warn him!We have to go!We are no longer safe..They have found us.

"Adam we have to go now!"I shout pushing the doors open.But my heart breaks to a million pieces at what I see."No.."I freeze at the body lying in the middle of the warehouse."No!"I scream running,falling to my knees next to him.

"No no no!Please..Adam!"I cry out and take his upper body in my arm."Please wake up!"My voice breaks and my hand squeezes the fabric of his jacket between my fingers.I let a loud cry out and hold his body closer.

My body shakes..

"Hayley!"I hear a familiar voice calling me."Hayley!!"The voice shouts louder.

I shoot up in a sitting position,waking roughly from my nightmare.My chest is moving up and down like crazy,tears refusing to stop running down my cheeks and I swallow hard,releasing a rough breath after.In my ears there is a horrific buzzing sound when I feel his voice bringing me back.

"Hayley?Hayley what's wrong?"He holds my face,staring deep in my eyes.But I can't concentrate.Everything is turning to a blur,my throat closing up refusing to let me breath.

I put my hand on my chest where my heart is,and he realizes what is happening to me in a flash.

I'm having a panic attack again.

"Hayley what's wrong?"He asks me his eyes filled with worry and I shove him to the side stumbling out the doors where I fall to my knees,trying to ease my breathing,but fail dramatically.

Elias runs to me and puts one hand on my cheek and one where my neck and shoulder connect.

"Hayley just breathe alright?Breathe."He says and breaths slowly suggesting me to do the same."Deep breaths Hayley come on.Do it."He says and I start to do the same."There you go.."He slowly says and I hide my head in my hands,almost touching my head on the ground,letting a whimper out.

"Hayley."He says in a low tone and I sit down,sniffing."You were calling out his name."He says and moves a string of hair behind my ear."You were calling out for Adam."His fingers travels down my jawline and sits back down on his knee.

"I'm so sorry..I-I haven't had a panic attack in so long."I say and sniff again.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"I..I saw my brother's death..The night I found him."My voice cracks and he nodds.

"You'll be fine.."He squeezes my shoulder and helps me get up.

"I'll stay out here for a little bit if that's fine."I say and he shoves his hands in his pockets.

"Yeah of course."He walks back in and I run my hand through my hair.

God why did it had to be now?Two years and nothing.I managed to control it all this time.Why did I loose control now?Of all the times this could have happened..I didn't want him to see me like this.

I spend two hours out here studying the stars aimlessly,before I go back in.I look at Elias sleeping,a feeling of calmness taking over me.

Beautiful.

I lie next to him,to my little spot,and close me eyes,but it's still very hard to fall asleep.

The morning comes quickly after I manage to fall asleep.Elias is already awake,opening some canned food.

I rubb my eyes and sit next to him,but he stays quiet.There are three possibilities about that.

One:He thinks I'd rather not talk about yesterday;

Two:He feels awkward and I have freaked him out,or;

Three:There's something else going on inside that pretty head of his.

"I haven't freaked you out did I?"I try to joke but he still doesn't look at me."What's wrong."

"Nothin' ".He says and I sit closer to him.

"Elias come on.Talk to me."I say and frown.

"My sister died on May 19th."He says but I still don't understand.

Wait.Today is May 19th.

Oh man..I was so caught up about what happened yesterday I didn't even give him the space OR time to mourn his own sister..

"I'm so sorry."I say and wrap one hand around his shoulder,and the other one around his neck,grabbing my other hand,and rest my chin on his shoulder.He leans his head on mine and I hear his shaky breath.His hand holds my arm but he refuses to break.

I pull away and sit between his legs,and look up to him.I hold his face gently as I wipe the single tear that has left his beautiful watery eyes.Seeing Elias cry,hurts me more than anything..He's just always so strong you don't even think he can hurt.

"How about you  go get some air this time and I'll finish here."I smile and run my hand through his hair before I put them back on his cheeks,and he takes a deep breath before he takes my hands from his face,fondless my right hand with his thumb,before he gets out the doors leaving me standing there watching him walk away.

I sigh and sit back down,opening three more only to find that the food inside has gone bad.And you thought canned food would last longer huh?But they did  last about more than a decade so..yeah.

I throw them away when he comes back.

"Feeling better?"I ask and he lets out  breath.

"Yeah I'm good.They gone bad too?"He changes the subject,and I decide not to bother him about his sister any longer.It's already hard enough for him.I don't have to make it any harder.

"Yes,they have."I slowly say and try to open the one I've been trying to open for about five minutes,but eventually give up groaning.

"Here give me."He chuckles and I crack a smile.

"I'm glad my torment is amusing to you."I complain with a laugh and give it to him.Guess what.The damn thing just pops open.I throw my hands in the air and I receive another laugh from him.

I like hearing him laugh.

"Alright let's see how much further we got."He pulls out the map,and studies it for a while."Okay we're here."He points at where we are on the map before he continues,"If we go through the county and in the hospital to the bridge,we'll save about two weeks of travel."

"So we go through there!"I say excited.

"Yeah don't get too excited.Landholders live in those territories."He warns and my smile drops.

Landholders are usually small groups of usually men,that didn't want 'help' (by getting in the quarantines)from the army,nor wanted to align with them at the battle field,but didn't want to go with the Resistance either.So they created their own group,fighting anyone who dares trespassing in their land.They're vicious,and crazy.They don't care if you are a grown ass person or a small kid.For them,we might all have the virus,and they will shoot on sight.

"Damn it!"I exclaim and he stares at me."But can we make it?"

"There's a chance we might-I mean there are much less infected and-"

"So we go through there!"I say with my hopes rising a bit.

"Hayley it's very dangerous..We can go around and-"

"Elias we're running out of time!With every minute that passes,A.G.N.U.S. is a step closer in finding us.They'll kill you,and after they take the cure,and then kill me too.We can't afford to lose any more time than we already have.And who knows.I've already been bitten twice I don't know what it is doing to me.Please.."I beg and he shakes his head defeated.

"Fine.But you'll do what I say,when I say it."I chuckle before I answer.

"When did I not listen to you?"

Four days have passed and we are now outside the borders of the county.

"This is it."I hear him say and I nervously touch my necklace.

"We'll make it."But I think this is more to convince me than Elias.Convince myself that I didn't make a decision that will eventually kill us both.

We move further and further in the city,releaved when we get to the hospital pretty quickly.

The hospital's sign has fallen to the ground,a lot of the building's top floors already caved in exposed.

Me and Elias exchange a look and I smile.We did it.We made it.

We walk in,and then climb up the stairs to the second floor.There are plastic boxes with files,and some medical supplies.I take a sheet of paper lying next to them,where there is a list of what should be in those boxes.I turn to Elias and show the paper and let out a surprised chuckle.

"They were here."I say and smile like a goof."We're close."

My stomach is filled with butterflies when he comes close to me and takes the paper from my hands smiling.His eyes meet mine and they shine.He's as happy as I am for this.

Elias takes me by surprise when he raps his hands around my waist lifting me up to a hug and I laugh.My feet touch the ground again and I breathe heavily,and let out a small laugh.I look directly in his eyes and my laugh dies,but those damn butterflies increase,threatening to tear my stomach apart.

He clears his throat and the ends of his lips go upwards as he pinches his nose.

"We should uh..look what medicine we can get."I say and smile and he nodds.

"Yeah we should do that."He mumbles and I open a box and he does the same.

A few minutes pass when he speaks again.

"You know what?When all of these are over,I'm gonna teach you how to play football."He says standing up and I smile.

"Really?!"I say with excitement."You sure you won't crash me?"I say with a raised brow and he chuckles.

"I would never crush you."

I'm about to say something,when I hear something from behind me,and spin around.

"Elias?"I look at him.

"Up.Now."He wispers/shouts at me and we sprint up the stairs.

We get through a hallway and are now in front of what used to be a glass wall,but now there's nothing there except what seems to be the edges of the glass at the corners.I go to the edge,and look down.There are some debris with some old,rusty irons sticking out.

"Hayley?"He asks and I take a step back.

"Relax I'm not planning to jump."I assure him and go to his side,and take a gun out his belt."Let me do some of the work.I'll go that way.You stay here and cover my back okay?"I ask and when his about to protest I sigh."Elias.You can't always do the dirty work.Sooner or later I'll get my hands dirty."I say and don't wait for a response.

I walk in front of a window when the first shot is fired,shuttering the glass.I cover behind the wall and load my gun.

"Elias they're here!"I shout and fire my first shot,watching the Landholder fall dead.

I never said I wasn't a good shooter.

I take a deep breath before I keep shooting at the ones that come.I hear shooting and then struggling from the direction of Elias.I run but when I get there,I see the Landholder AND Elias falling of the edge.

"NO!"I scream and run to the edge.But what I see makes me terrified.

The Landholder is dead,but Elias is still alive,barely.But one of those rusty irons has punctuated through his side.And he was bleeding fast.

"No no no...."I wisper as I run down the stairs and then to Elias's side."Elias!"I scream and kneel down.

Please don't die on me...

OMG my babies are doing plans for their future togetheeeeeer😁Hehe but thats IF Elias lives😯But will he??

Sorry I'm not uploading as fast as I used to,but I'm currently giving my exams and all I do is write chapters so if I don't wanna fail,I think I should study a little bit.😂
