37 Toilet Paper

I didn't know how long I had been walking one hour, two? I was just so thirsty. Along the way I saw no stream, and it was probably a good time for my survival lessons to kick in. I found a relatively sharp stick and began looking for vine trees. A certain time could store water in its vine like a cactus. I found several vine trees, though most were old and hard, finally when I hacked at one water came oozing out. I quickly press my lips against it. The water was cool and cold. I have no idea how much I drank. All I knew was that when the flow ceased my thirst had been quenched.

I could smell the sea. In my entire life I never had seen the sea up close. I was running like the wind brushing aside snagging vines and leaping above the tangle of roots. Spider webs constantly got into my face, but it didn't bother me. Before I knew it, I was looking at the sea. I stretched for miles and miles below the horizon. The sea seemed limitless in its expanse it looked as though it fused with the sky far out in the distance. This would have been the perfect paradise escape for a vacation... if it weren't for the fact we were actually stranded here. I began walking towards the beach. I could see something that resembled a human figure lying on the beach. With a cry of pure joy I sprinted to the figure. It couldn't be who I thought it was, could it?

"Silk!" I yelled throwing myself to my knees. Half her face was buried in sand. I grabbed her wrist to feel for a pulse, and for one moment I felt something, then nothing. She was alive! I rolled her onto her back and was going to perform CPR. I put both my hands over her lungs and then I pressed down hard, nothing. Well I guess that means I will have to perform artificial respiration, in other words it means "mouth to mouth". That moment I didn't really care who my first kiss goes to, then again I wouldn't really consider this as an actual kiss. I got into position and just before I started, Silk said:

"Go on, my prince." I froze at that voice.

"Only true love's kiss can break the witches curse..." she muttered with her eyes shut.

"No. You will be fine." I said as I got up again.

"If I knew this was coming, I should have played dead a little longer..."

"Holding your breath any longer you would have really died."

"What a shame."

"Value your life more please." She got up and dusted the sand from her dress.

"Is this a dream? Alone in paradise with Cherie!?"

"Quite the opposite in fact. And we are not the only ones in this place. Yumi and Charlotte are back at camp." I didn't bother to mention Stainless Steel, but before I could even finish my sentence Silk sighed a heavy sigh.

"Well it's going to get dark pretty soon, I say we should head back to the camp now." Out from the corner of my eye a light was blinking at me.

"Wait there is something I need to check out." I ran toward it and found an object, a box, half buried in the sand.

"Silk help me dig this thing out!" I called digging at the sand.

It took several minutes of digging, before we were finally able to pull the box free. It was huge metallic case large enough to fit a fully grown adult in it. There was a silver lock on the side.

"Silk could you do your thing?"

"Anything for my prince." Silk pulled a needle out from nowhere. I watched her pick the lock in less than five seconds. I knew how to pick a lock too, but compared to her I was a dog digging beside an excavator.

"All done, shall we take a look inside?" she asked.

"Go ahead." But I was cautious. Silk opened the case genteelly, and we inched forward to see its contests. Then we turned to face each other and saw surprise written on each other faces.

"Toilet paper, seriously!?" I almost screamed biggest prank fate ever played on me. Inside there enough toilet paper to build a cottage, ok maybe I was exaggerating too much.

"Ling look! There is something beneath it!"

We removed some of the toilet paper.

"Clothes, and backpacks." Silk turned to me and said.

"Let's open the backpacks." Inside the backpack were daily necessities. Aside from that there were five black jumpsuits and hiking boots.

"Is there anything else?" I asked.

We emptied the box and found a note sticking to the bottom of the case. I peeled it off as both of us stared right through it.

"So what are we going to do now?" Silk asked.

"Bring all this stuff back to camp; hopefully we'll have something figured out." I said. Then the two of us put everything back in the case again, except I held onto the note. I offered to carry the case by myself first, but soon found it impossible. So the two of us worked together to carry the case back to camp. We found our way back to camp easily due to my clever forethought in making little arrows on the trees every few meters. We reached camp to a bloody red sunset. Then we dropped the case on the ground hard. But either of us couldn't care less. From the corner of my eye I saw Stainless Steel was beat up and tied to a tree. Yumi and Charlotte were nowhere to be seen. Before I could say anything else Silk walked up to Stainless Steel and added a few extra bruises to him.

"Silk, no point." I said but she held her ground.

"Hue, hue." I was surprised that Stainless Steel could still chuckle under the million bruises. Looking at him reminded me to never get on Silk's bad side.

"Where did they go?" Silk started interrogating.

"Raped, murdered, none of my business." He chuckled. Just when Silk decided to give him a piece of her mind. Yumi's voice came out from nowhere.

"I see you came back with quite a find." Yumi dropped a pile of firewood to the ground. Charlotte emerged behind.

"Hey! I helped too." Charlotte said as she held out a handful of twigs.

"Good for you." I said.

"So what else did you..." before Yumi could finish Stainless Steel interrupted:

"Hey I helped too! I help you lose your..." before Stainless Steel could utter another syllable, Yumi shoved some exotic fruit the size of an apple into his mouth. It fits perfectly.

"Yes I found some interesting things." I said pointing to the case on the ground. The four of us gathered around as if the case were baby Jesus. I opened it. And there was a moment of awkward silence I expected.

"Ling this is low, even for you." Yumi said.

"That's not our only find, see!" I showed her the jumpsuits and backpacks. We took the clothes out and laid it on the ground and I realized they were all different sizes.

"You know what I just realized?" I said. They all turned to look at me.

"There are two large jumpsuits, two medium sized jumpsuits and one small jump suit, and the same goes for the hiking boots. It means that we may be the only five people on this island. And a pack of daily necessities for each of us." I said. I was almost absolutely sure of it.

"You said there were boots in it right?" Yumi asked.

"Yes."

"My feet are killing me." She was barefoot, with a pair of office work shoes set on the ground beside her.

"Mine too!" Silk added. She was also barefoot; her high heeled boots likewise arranged.

"Me too!" Charlotte who shook chimed. She then shook her miniature red dress shoes off and revealed childlike feet.

"Then let's all put on our boots first."

After a while I noticed Charlotte was wresting with her shoelaces. Finally I couldn't bear watching her failure, I turned to her and said:

"Do you need help?"

"No!..." She seemed hesitant. It didn't matter what she said I was going to help her anyway. I kneeled in front of her foot and said:

"Lift one foot." I said. She lifted her right leg and I fit the right boot on her foot and tied the bootlace.

"Now lift your other foot." I said, as I did the same for the other leg.

"Thanks...But that doesn't mean I'm through with you yet, commoner!" Charlotte stammered.

"Whatever, my lady."

"Ling! I need help tying my bootlace too!" Silk piped up.

"Live with it." I got up and realized Yumi was looking away uncomfortably.

"Is there anything else?" Yumi cleared her throat.

"Yes." I said.

"I don't see it." she went on.

"It's a message." I took out the note from my pocket and handed it to her.

She read it out loud:

"Enjoy your vacation!" I didn't bother to mention the winking face at the end, judging from Yumi facial expression as she handed the note back to me.
