AFTER FEW MONTHS

Deepshikha POV :

"Chitra! Wake up" I shouted for tenth time in the last one minute but she did not move even an inch. "You are getting late for the meeting" I said pulled her blanket away.

"Five more minutes Deeps! I slept one hour back" she mumbled. "Who told you to work this much?" I muttered and went to execute my evil plan.

"What th . . " Chitra got up as I poured a bucket full . . no not a bucket just a mug full cold water. "Thank me I did not pour a bucket full" I smirked while she got up from bed. 

"You did not want to spoil the mattress its not that you are sweet to be kind" she said taking her clothes. "So true" I said folding the blanket, "Devil" she cursed closing the door of washroom.

Wait! I forgot to tell you what all happened right? 

When I  decided to move out from my home Arjun tried to convince me in all possible ways but you all know how adamant I am! I packed all my stuff and started coming out of my home, that is when I saw Chitra following me.

"Why are you following me and what are these?" I asked pointing towards her bags. 

"These are called bags, for more clarity they are trolley luggage carriers. I am following you to come with you" she said casually. "Why?" I asked.

"I am going to stay with you" she said and continued walking.

For me its necessary to leave but for her its not a mandate. She never stopped amazing me ever making me admire her more everyday. I bought a house as even Chitra will stay with me, we together made it home with all our love and care towards each other.

I spent all my savings on this home and furnishing it, my dad and brother never allowed me to use even my earnings. So I took this opportunity to spend it all, not only that I did not touch even a single penny or any of the property of my parents or family.

To fulfill my dad's dream I took charge of three different segments of our company to work on. I worked on them day and night to make them run in profits, all my staff had equal passion which made our segments(departments) reap rich. 

Even Chitra wanted to work with me but I did not want to trouble her by changing her position. She has a better post and salary working under Arjun, I cannot take more favors from her.

"Hello! If your day dreaming is over give me my breakfast, I am starving" Chitra shouted. "Today is your turn to cook but I did" I taunted. "Everything is fair as we are in love" she winked at me.

"I thought you will say about returning favor" I glared at her, "Do I need to say it? Anyway you to start eating. Even you are salaried employee, you cannot afford to be late" she said and continued gobbling food. 

"Chitra! Why do you bring that topic always? I am not ready to take even a single penny more than my salary" I said in irritation. "You have right on it! That is the reason I remind you always. You rarely go home and I know its because of Souravi. Your brother is missing you, just meet him" she said and started running.

I locked the door and took the office car which picks and drops me daily. This is the facility provided by company to all employees in my cadre so I did not object for this.

"From the past five minutes you are here without saying a word" I questioned Sheetal, one of our senior employee. "There is a problem" she said in a low tone.

"What is it?" I asked her in the most polite way possible. "Do you remember few months back you passed an office order regarding late office hours?" she asked me looking from her black rimmed glasses. "Yes" I said thinking about it.

"Our staff started working in late hours despite your orders, when I questioned them about it they are asking to have word with you" she informed me. I went out along with her and saw all of them assembled before my room.

"What are your reasons?" I asked aloud but they stood in silence, I looked at Sheetal and raised my eyebrows if she knows but she shrugged.

"Madam! We all started working late hours with a reason" one guy said coming forward, "When our boss works for late hours, how can we leave early?" others said together.

"You are saying about me?" I asked them pointing towards me and they all nodded. "I have work guys, How can you question me?" I shouted.

"We know you work even when there is nothing to do, a rule is a rule. I t should be applicable to all" the same guy said making me glare at him. "I agree with him" Sheetal added and chuckled at my expressions.

"Fine! From today any of us will not work in non-office hours unless its needed. I order the security personnel to throw them out of office who ever disobeys this rule" I declared and all of them clapped. 

"Happy?" I asked them sarcastically, "They did it for your good" Sheetal supported them. "I should have known that you are with them" I muttered.

"How was your meeting?" I asked Chitra as soon as I returned home. "It went well" she said arranging our living room. There is something that is really bothering her as she sounded sad which is not normal.

"Did your father or his doctor called you?" I asked to know the reason, "No! He is fine. Why are you asking?" she inquired. "Can't I ask" I skipped answering her.

"Do you know I thought of getting married you to Arjun" I said and she bursted into laughter hearing my words. "I am serious" I said which made her laugh more. "If Souravi knows this she will do postmortem my live body" she said still smiling.

"I missed you making part of my family" I said wiping my fake tears, "Oh Deeps! Get me married to your other brother" she said joining me.  Other brother . . Abhay!! I thought

"If any . . " she added and I smirked at her. "Its still two days for weekend" I said looking at her making innocent face. "Hope atleast this week Abhay visits us" she said immediately falling for my bait.

From the day we started staying here Abhay joined us every weekend, at first it used to be tough to manage both of them but slowly I realised they started liking each other. They reduced their fights but did not stop them, I got saved from hearing their curses. Sometimes I wonder they both worked in some Zoo in their previous birth as they used all animal names in their fights.

Its Friday evening and Chitra started pacing in the living room, "I will kill this Abhay when he comes" she cursed looking at the entrance. "May be he is stuck in his work, it happened before too" I suggested.

"Stop supporting that idiot brother of yours, last time he informed us but now he just disappeared" she said angrily. I can clearly see Chitra is in love with Abhay but what about him . .. I should know.

"I will go and bring ice-creams" I said taking my wallet and came out before she stops me. I bought ten tubs of different flavors and all of them are for Chitra to reduce her anger. When I am on the way I saw Abhay strolling near our home and I walked slowly near him.

"Caught you" I shouted holding him, "Deeps" he said in shock. "What were you doing here? On duty?" I asked and he nodded no. "Then come home" I started dragging him, "But" I did not hear any of his words and continued dragging him.

"Surprise" I shouted and revealed Abhay who is behind me. Abhay just lowered his head and Chitra gave him death glares, I stood there observing them. "Where were you these two weeks?" Chitra asked him after serving us dinner. 

"I was busy" Abhay said looking at his plate and started eating calmly. "You are lying" she said in dangerously low tone but Abhay continued eating ignoring her. 

"From two weeks I am cooking all your favorite dishes but you did not show your face. Now you are eating as if your life is dependent on this" Chitra said taking away spoon from his hand.

"We need to eat to be alive, right?" he asked looking at me, I decided not to interfere in their fight and saved myself from Chitra's wrath. 

"You are pathetic" Chitra threw the spoon towards him, we all finished dinner in silence. "Its getting late, I will leave now" Abhay's words made us shocked. "You always stay with us" I said in disbelief. "Do not force him Deeps" Chitra stopped me.

"What happened to him?" I wondered, "Do you know last month Abhay went to UK?" Chitra asked. "No! How do you know?"  . ."He met my dad so I know" she said and I went out to stop Abhay.

"Abhay" I shouted when he is about turn from our street, "You need not run, I heard you" he said seeing me. "Do you like Chitra?" I asked and his face turned pale.

"You can share with me" I held his hand, "Yes" he said squeezing my hand. "Why dont you tell her?" he shook his head and sat on a bench near by. "Its not easy, she does not think of me like that. I cannot spoil our friendship" he said and banged my head with my hand.

"You have to say it, trust me" I placed my hand on his shoulder, "Do you think so?" he gave a puzzled look to which I just stared at him.

"You are always right, So i will obey your orders" he said making me smile. "Come lets go" I pulled him but he stopped me, "Not now" he said and I agreed thinking he planned something.

 . . 

Next day I cancelled all our programs much to the annoyance of Chitra but Abhay did not turn up. I cursed myself for leaving him yesterday and trusting him. Then he surprised us late in the evening and I got excited.

"So you were waiting for him since morning" Chitra stressed on the word him. "Chitra! You were ready to marry my brother, so here is Abhay. Tell him what you feel" I said when were away from him. "I know what you feel, so dont act" I warned before she open her mouth.

"All the best Abhay" I said in low voice, "I am leaving you both expecting a good news" I said loudly. "At this time where will you go?" Chitra asked like my mother. "Stop bothering about me" I waved them bye and came out.

. .

I started walking towards palace which is my home, cold wind started blowing making my journey more pleasurable. When I entered inside I did not find any one, it looked so empty. The hall area was completely decorated with flowers and candles, I moved further and saw whole palace is like that giving a garden look.

I stopped in my tracks cursing for her coming here . . How can my timing be so wrong? I cursed myself and started moving back silently. 

"Deepu" hearing Arjun's voice I faked a smile, "What a surprise! Come" he invites me happily. My poor brother is being sweet even after I disturbed his date . . 

"I came for some book" I said in hesitance, "Ok! Let me bring something special for you" he said and went towards kitchen. I went to my room escaping from Souravi's death glares, Shit! Why should I come when they were romancing? 

I took some random book and ran down, seeing that Arjun I went near Souravi. "I am leaving, Inform Arjun" I said her but she held my hand. 

"Why cannot you let me live in peace? I know you came here to spoil our special night" she blamed me. "Excuse me! This is my home and I can come whenever I want. I did not know about your plan, now I know so I am leaving" I said trying to remove my hand from her grip.

"I won't believe you, your brother will not allow you to leave and you know that well. What a planning" she clapped leaving my hand. "Why will I do that?" I asked her seriously rubbing my hand which is paining.

"You cannot see others happiness as you are not happy in your life" she said in pure vehemence. "I am happy and I want you to be happy" I explained her. "No Deepu! You are acting" she said and I felt a pang on my heart. 

I turned around to leave but stopped to confront her. "Why are you doing  this Souru?" I asked and she melted hearing her nickname which I love to use. "What else can I do?" she said dejectedly. 

"From the day I came here there were only problems and all were because of you. People think that I brought bad luck with me and I even I felt the same when you left this palace" she said sadly. "No! You are not a bad luck" I tried to say but she stopped me.

"I do no need your sweet coated words" she moved away and just then Arjun came. "I was waiting for you" I said with a forced smile. "See what all I brought for you" he showed all my favorite snacks.

"I am in hurry, some other time" I said hurriedly and walked towards gate. "Is there any problem?" he asked me worriedly and I assured him with all my acting skills which Souravi pointed out.

I walked in the streets for hours, I could not go to office because of my own orders. I did not want to go back and disturb Chitra and Abhay, they need some private space. May be its midnight as all shops were closed and roads resembled deserts. 

Temperature dropped further making it difficult for me to walk, I went near my mom's hospital but the guards did not allowed me in. "Why are you stopping me?" I asked them, "Are you ill?" they asked and I denied. "Then sorry mam! We cannot allow you inside, these are against our rules" he said politely.

I went into the open area and sat there on the bench which is in premises of the hospital. I thanked my mom for arranging these benches with fence around for people like me to rest. I smiled thinking about my fate how I ended up alone here.

"I wish you were alive dad, I really miss you both" I said looking at the dark sky above me. Tears started flowing and I did not stop them as I am alone. There was no one with me to stop them or who get hurt seeing them.

Dhruv!! This name was enough to make me smile, I wiped my tears and wondered how easily he used to handle me. If he was with me by today we might have got Abhay and Chitra married, all these thoughts made me smile.

My phone started vibrating and looking at the screen made me smile more . .
