Tyrion the Lord of Knowledge

Miles away from the Stark camp, in the Riverlands Lord Tywin finds out the news of Jaime and quickly makes his way to the tent his council is meeting in. The tent's occupants include Tyrion Lannister, Leo Lefford, Addam Marbrand, Kevan Lannister, all of whom look up with Tywin's entrance.

"They have my son," He exclaims running into the tent.

"The Stark boy appears to be less green than we'd hoped," Tyrion states.

"I've heard his wolf killed a dozen men and as many horses," Leo states with fear in his eyes.

"Is it true about Stannis and Renly," Addam questions, concern deeply noted in his voice.

"Both Baratheon brothers have taken up against us. Jaime captured, his armies scattered. it's a catastrophe. Perhaps we should sue for peace," Kevan stated with some hope this could be resolved.

"There's your peace. Joffrey saw to that when he decided to remove Ned Stark's head. Cersei saw to it when she put a price on Arabella's head for no real reason other than to have her out of the way. You'll have an easier time drinking from that cup than you will bringing Robb Stark to the table now. He's winning – in case you hadn't noticed," Tyrion said with snark. He sometimes wondering if he was really the smartest on in the room at times, or were they playing stupid.

"I'm told we still have his other sisters," Kevan states, hoping this could be enough.

"The first order of business is ransoming Ser Jaime," Leo states.

"First we must return to Casterly Rock to raise," Kevan was cut off by his older brother.

"They have my son! Get out, all of you," Tywin shouts as everyone begins to get up, Tywin points to Tyrion, "Not you".

As soon as the tent was empty besides the father and son Tywin sat down to look over his dwarf of a son.

"You were right about Eddard Stark. lf he were alive, we could have used him to broker a peace with Winterfell and Riverrun, which would have given us more time to deal with Robert's brothers. Cersei will be dealt with when I get to the capital. But now – madness. Madness and stupidity. I always thought you were a stunted fool. Perhaps I was wrong," Tywin says complementing his often overlooked son.

"Half wrong. I'm new to strategy, but unless we want to be surrounded by three armies, it appears we can't stay here," Tyrion states.

"No one will stay here. Ser Gregor will head out with 500 riders and set the Riverland on fire from God's Eye to the Red Fork. The rest of us will regroup at Harrenhal. And you will go to King's Landing," Tywin states looking at his son.

"And do what," Tyrion asks confused as to why he was going to the capital.

"Rule. You will serve as Hand of the King in my stead. You will bring that boy king to heel, and his mother too. And if you get so much as a whiff of treason from any of the rest – Baelish, Varys, Pycelle," Tywin states.

"Heads, spikes, walls. Why not my uncle? Why not anyone? Why me," Tyrion asks.

"You're my son. Oh, one more thing. You will not take that whore to court. Do you understand," Tywin states with a stern look on his face.

Tyrion understood, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to do things his own way. Shae was going with him, even if he had to hide her in plain sight. He had a use for her, and he was going to use it to his advantage.

He had heard from Amelia, Arabella's handmaiden, that she was alright. She had told him that Arabella was pregnant, and that she was doing everything to keep her and the babies safe. He didn't dare tell Tywin that though. That would only fuel his anger towards Cersei, and make him act rash to get the girl back from her family. Which could be more dangerous for her than he imagined. Amelia had told him that they were keeping Arabella hidden in the camp and only a handful of people knew about her being there. Tyrion was both thankful and deeply worried that Jaime was in the camp as well. He knew his brother could be hot headed when it came to Arabella, Tyrion's only hope was that Jaime kept a calm head and tried to keep Arabella safe even if it was out of his reach.

It took Tyrion a week's worth of travels to get to King's Landing. The journey was pretty dull, but he was certain he made his entrance to the capital a spectacle. He left Joffrey speechless, and he was working his way into the council meeting where he was going to make the grandest entrance he could make.

Tyrion begins whistling from a distance. Everyone at the table turns to watch him approach.

"Don't get up. More ravishing than ever, big sister," He says walking in and kisses Cersei on the cheek, "War agrees with you. Forgive the interruption, carry on".

"What are you doing here," Cersei asks annoyed that her youngest brother was here.

"It's been a remarkable journey," Tyrion begins his statement, sitting down and begins pouring himself a glass of wine, "I pissed off the edge of the Wall, I slept in a sky cell. I fought with the hill tribes. So many adventures, so much to be thankful for".

Tyrion begins drinking his wine.

"What are you doing here? This is the small council," Cersei says her voice sounding more annoyed and getting louder..

"Yes. Well, I do believe the Hand of the King is welcome at all small council meetings," Tyrion states with certainty.

"Our father is Hand of the King," Cersei says, her face nearly twitched in anger.

"Yes, but in his absence," Tyrion states. He pulls out a letter. He hands it to Varys, who opens it, and begins reading it.

"Your father has named Lord Tyrion to serve as Hand in his stead while he fights," Varys reads out the letter in slight surprise. There was not much that Varys did not already know.

"Out! All of you out," Cersei yells out. The small council members all get up and leave until it is only Cersei and Tyrion. Cersei stands up and approaches Tyrion.

"I would like to know how you tricked father into this," Cersei questions, not believing that their father would do so out of kindness.

"If I were capable of tricking father, I'd be emperor of the world by now. You brought this on yourself," Tyrion states, as Cersei sits down.

"I've done nothing," she states with an air of innocence.

"Quite right, and wrong. You did nothing when your son called for Ned Stark's head. You did however place a hit on our good sister for no reason other than being jealous that she has taken Jaime's attention from you. Now the entire North has risen up against us, because you acted on jealousy or simply did nothing," Tyrion states explaining everything.

"I tried to stop it. However the girl was a threat," Cersei states.

"Did you? You failed. Arabella did nothing other than love our brother. You and I both know that you have no proof that she did something wrong. That bit of theater will haunt our family for a generation," Tyrion pointedly states.

"Robb Stark is a child," Cersei states.

"Who's won every battle he's fought. Did you forget he has uncles with him? I'm sure you've heard of Ashter Stark's reputation. Do you understand we're losing the war," Tyrion states with concern.

"What do you know about warfare," Cersei questions with disbelief.

"Nothing. But I know people. And I know that our enemies hate each other almost as much as they hate us," Tyrion explains. There is a long pause. Cersei looks over at Tyrion.

"Joffrey is King," Cersei states.

"Joffrey is King," Tyrion agrees.

"You are here to advise him," Cersei says.

"I'm only here to advise him. And if the King listens to what I say, the King might just get his Uncle Jaime and Aunt Arabella back, once father and I fix your mistake," Tyrion agrees.

"How? It was no mistake, she was a traitor she was working with her father," Cersei states what she believed was true.

"Eddard Stark and all of those you questioned denied that statement. You were biased in your words because she was taking the attention you had from Jaime away. I will only say this once, you love your children. It's your one redeeming quality. That and your cheekbones. The Starks love their children as well. And we had three of them until you tried to murder one for your own selfish gain, so now we are down to two," Tyrion states giving some credit where it was due.

"One," Cersei mumbles while taking a sip of her wine.

"One," Tyrion questions, concerned by what he heard.

"Arya, little animal, she disappeared," Cersei states looking away from Tyrion.

"Disappeared? What, in a puff of smoke? We had four Starks to trade. You chopped one's head off, ordered for the murder of one who had become your good sister, and let another escape. Father will be furious. It must be odd for you to be the disappointing child," Tyrion questioned with annoyance, but he was internally gleeful. Tyrion smirks, and takes a sip of his wine. Cersei internally rolls her eyes, but knows that there is a lot of truth to his statement. She needed to find those girls, and she needed to make things right with Arabella if she ever wanted her on her side on issues.
