Robb's Terms

~ still a back flash to before when Catelyn went to Renly's~

"You're Ser Alton Lannister," Robb questions the young man before him.

"I am, Your Grace," he answers.

"I offer your cousins peace if they meet my terms. First, your family must release my sisters. Second, my father's bones must be returned to us so he may rest beside his brother and sister in the crypts beneath Winterfell. And the remains of all those who died in his service must also be returned. Their families can honor them with proper funerals," Robb informs the young man.

"An honorable request, Your Grace," He states, hoping to stay on the good side of the man in front of him.

"Third... Joffrey and the Queen Regent must renounce all claims to dominion of the North. From this time, till the end of time, we are a free and independent kingdom" Robb states with absolute certainty. The young man looks at Robb eyes wide knowing how his family will respond to this last request.

"The King in the North," one man states.

"King in the North," the rest follow suit.

"Neither Joffrey nor any of his men shall set foot in our lands again. If he disregards this command, he shall suffer the same fate as my father, only I don't need a servant to do my beheading for me," Robb states with a smirk.

"These are... Your Grace, these are...," the young man begins to find the words to say to the self proclaimed King of the North before him.

"These are my terms. If the Queen Regent and her son meet them, I'll give them peace. If not, I will litter the south with Lannister dead," Robb says, his facial expression unchanging.

"King Joffrey is a Baratheon, Your Grace," the confused man states.

"Oh, is he? You'll ride at daybreak, Ser Alton. That will be all for tonight," Robb says, everyone leaves the tent taking the young man with him and back to his makeshift cell. Theon walks back into the tent and Theon approaches Robb.

"A word, Your Grace," Theon questions.

"You don't have to call me 'Your Grace' when no one's around," Robb states.

"It's not so bad once you get used to it," Theon jokes.

"I'm glad someone's gotten used to it," Robb jokes back.

"The Lannisters are going to reject your terms, you know," Theon states.

"Of course they are," Robb agrees.

"We can fight them in the fields as long as you like, but we won't beat them until you take King's Landing. And we can't take King's Landing without ships. My father has ships and men who know how to sail them," Theon tries to persuade Robb.

"Men who fought my father," Robb replies.

"Men who fought King Robert to free themselves from the yoke of the South, just like you're doing now. I'm his only living son. He'll listen to me. I know he will. I'm not a Stark. I know that. But your father raised me to be an honorable man. We can avenge him together," Theon tries again.

"I do not believe it is a good idea, Robb," a feminine voice calls out. In walks Arabella Stark, clock covering her hair, face, and figure.

"Arabella, have you been lurking long," Theon questioned, annoyed she butted in where she had no business being in.

"Long enough, to hear a bad idea and give advice on how to avoid the idea," Arabella states, pulling her hood up to show her face.

"Wh

at makes you think it was a bad idea," Robb questions Arabella.

"Lord Balon Greyjoy is a lot of things, most of them are foul in language. He is only for himself, and will do what benefits him and only him. Doesn't matter who he has to hurt in the process. Why do you think you have lived with us for so long, Theon? If your dad truly wanted you back he would have gotten you back. Where he lacks honor and truth, he makes up for cheating, lying, and scheming. If you think it was wise to trust him, I highly recommend against it. It could cost you everything," Arabella states.

"Well when we want an opinion of a girl married to the other side, I will be sure to ask you for advice," Theon states.

"Robb knows I would not betray him. I never have and never will. In the end it is his choice. But I must remind him what dad used to say. The lone wolf dies, but the pack survives," Arabella states, pulling her hood back down over her face and walking out of the tent.

~Later that evening in Catelyn's tent~

Arabella, Robb, and Catelyn sit in the tent Arabella has taken off her cloak and is beginning to show in her pregnancy.

"You don't want Balon Greyjoy for an ally, Arabella is right," Catelyn states, agreeing with her daughter.

"I need his ships. They say he has 200," Robb states, hoping to change her mind.

"They say a million rats live in the sewers of King's Landing. Shall we rally them to fight for us," Catelyn states, continuing to pack her bag for her trip.

"I understand you don't trust Lord Greyjoy," Robb states.

"I don't trust Lord Greyjoy because he is not trustworthy. Your father had to go to war to end his rebellion," Catelyn states.

"Yes. And now I'm the one rebelling against the throne. Before me, it was my father. You married one rebel and mothered two others," Robb states.

"I mothered more than just rebels, a fact you seem to have forgotten," Catelyn states.

"If I trade the Kingslayer for two girls, my bannermen will string me up by my feet," Robb states.

"You want to leave Sansa in the Queen's hands? And Arya, I haven't heard a word about Arya. What are you fighting for if not for them," Arabella states.

"You should have stayed with them both then we would know how they both are doing," Robb yells at Arabella.

"If I had stayed I would have been beheaded just like our father. Then you'd have two dead Starks, a missing Stark, and one still held captive. You went to war to get all the Starks back, you have one. We need the rest and you know it," Arabella states.

"It's more complicated than that! You know it is," Robb states. A long pause follows. Catelyn sits down.

"It's time for me and Arabella to go home. I haven't seen Bran or Rickon in months, and Arabella needs a healer for when she gives birth in the next few months. Lord knows none of the men here can know she's here, or that she is pregnant with Jaime's child," Catelyn states.

"You can't go to Winterfell, and Arabella has to stay here," Robb states.

"I beg your pardon," Catelyn states.

"I'll send Rodrik to watch over the boys, 'cause tomorrow, you'll ride south to the Stormlands. I need Arabella here to help keep Jaime in line," Robb states.

"Why in the name of all the Gods," Catelyn begins.

"Because I need you to negotiate with Renly Baratheon. He's rallied an army of 100,000. You know him. You know his family," Robb states.

"I haven't seen Renly Baratheon since he was a boy. You have a hundred other lords," Catelyn states.

"Which of these lords do I trust more than you? If Renly sides with us, we'll outnumber them two to one. When they feel the jaws beginning to shut, they'll sue for peace. We'll get the girls back. Then we'll all go home for good. I know that Jaime will not act up with Arabella here safe and sound. I may not like the man for what he is worth but so far he has done right with Arabella since their marriage," Robb states.

"I will ride at first light. Arabella is your responsibility, if any harm is to come to her, Robb. I will hold you accountable," Catelyn states looking Robb in the eye with a motherly glare. Robb nods his head before he walks over and kisses Catelyn's forehead. Robb nods his head to motion for Arabella to join in their family embrace.

"We will all be together again soon, I promise," Robb states.

"You've done so well. Your father would be proud," Catelyn states.

"Give Lord Renly my regards," Robb states.

"King Renly. There's a king in every corner now," Catelyn states.

"There's a whole lot of kings, but not enough land to call their own," Arabella states with a sad smile. They all bid each other good night, before going their own ways. Arabella hesitated for a moment, debating if she should see Jaime just to give him an update on their children. After a moment she decided not tonight. Tonight she will enjoy having Catelyn around to talk to before she is left to her own thoughts for the next few weeks.

Author's Note: Sorry for the delay. I went to upload it a week ago, but when I went to copy it over my computer turned off and I lost the entire file and had to start from square one again.

The next chapter will have Jaime trying to escape, but it's not for the reason mentioned in the show.  Things are in motion, and the playing board is getting close to a check mate.
