Recapture
Right as he made it mid camp, it was noted that he had escaped. The other prisoners had started making noise and it had brought attention to his escape. He had managed to make it to Arabella's tent before he rammed into Amelia. He quickly wrapped his hand around her mouth to silence her, before pulling her into the empty tent nearby.
"I am going to remove my hand from your mouth and you are not going to scream or run away. It's important, and it concerns Arabella's safety. Nod if you promise to listen. I will not lie when it comes to keeping her safe," Jaime whispered in her ear. He could feel Amelia rolling her eyes at him, but nodding all the same. She knew that when it came to Arabella, Jaime tried to do what was best for her.
When Jaime removed his hand she elbowed him in the chest before moving away. He scoffed at the contact and rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Great. Now that is out of the way. Arabella is in danger, Cersei is planning another attack on her as a diversion to get me free. I heard it from the delivery boy who they placed in my cell," Jaime said.
"Why are you telling me this," Amelia questioned, "You could have just left. Why stop here to tell me"?
"Because if and when I am recaptured, I want someone to look after her. Someone who can keep her safe, and I know security has been laxed as of recently, but I wanted to ensure that she was being watched after. I don't care if they kill me, at this point I expect it, but she doesn't deserve any more pain. You and I both know that. Cersei is obsessed with getting her way and getting me back. She will stop at nothing, as you can clearly see. I know that you will keep her safe along with Mystic, but don't trust anyone who isn't her family. As much as I want to take her with me, I can't. It would only put her into more danger and risk our child. Please, Amelia, I know I have already asked you for so much, but I must ask you to keep her safe for now," Jaime pleaded his case. His eyes darting around to keep an eye on his surroundings looking got his way to escape when the time comes.
"I will, but not because you asked me to. She is the good and kind in this world of evil and chaos," Amelia said with a glare.
"I must leave, if you can let Lady Stark know of this. I feel she would be the only one to believe me. If I make it back to King's Landing, I will see to it that her other daughters are returned to her and Arabella is kept away from the damage to follow," Jaime said getting out of the tent and making a dash into the woods and putting as much distance as he can between him and the camp.
~Hours Later~
It was nearing morning when Catelyn was interrupted from her letter by someone trying to enter her tent.
"Lady Stark" the voice from Brienne calls out. She was doing her duty to Lady Stark and keeping her safe.
"No farther," Brienne states, blocking his path, until her lady states otherwise.
"Keep your hands off me, woman," the voice calls out again.
"Don't enter without an invitation, man," Brienne argues back.
"Forgive me. Lady Stark," the man starts again hoping to be heard.
"What is it," Catelyn asks. What was so important it needed to be addressed this early in the day.
"They caught the Kingslayer," the man stated. Catelyn got up out of her chair and informed the man to lead the way to the Kingslayer, Brienne following closely behind. When they arrive at the outskirts of the camp Jaime is being led in with chains following behind a soldier on a horse. As Jaime passes the soldiers of the Stark camp. Most men are yelling, some are throwing things and others are trying to physically assault him. But the people walking him back into camp kept these attacks away.
"Kingslayer," One Voice calls out.
"Kill the fucking Kingslayer," says another one.
"Hang him," called out a third and fourth voice.
"You'll die today," another sneered.
"Justice for the Karstark," others added in. The deeper Jaime got into the camp the angier the soldiers and more powerful. Eventually some get past Jaime's captors, and one man hits Jaime over the head with a club. While others begin to attack him, the people who captured him ride away leaving Jaime alone in the abuse. All Jaime could was take the pain, and pray that Amelia was keeping Bella away from this horrific sight and crowd. They stop the abuse and bring Jaime to his feet to continue on his journey. He was only able to get a few steps in before he fell onto his knees.
"Gut him," a new voice called out. From out to the crowd a man swiftly approaches drawing his sword out. Rickard Karstark was going to strike down the man who killed his son.
"Get back! I want his head! Any man who stands between a father and his vengeance asks for death," he laid claim to be the one to destroy the kingslayer. Eye for an eye. By the graciousness of the gods Jaime had scoffed at many times, someone stopped him. Coming from behind Jaime saw Catelyn, Brienne, and another man coming to his rescue.
"Lord Karstark, this man is our prisoner," Catelyn says, hoping to stop him from killing Jaime. He was the only bargaining chip the Starks had for any chance of peace.
"This monster killed my son," Rickard said, turning around to face the trio.
"And crippled mine. He will answer for his many crimes, I promise you, but not here," Catelyn countered.
"I will have his head. And if you try and stop me," the man started.
"You will strike me down? Have you forgotten me, ser? I am the widow of your liege, Lord Eddard Stark. I am the mother of your king," Catelyn retaliated.
"And where is our king now," Rickard questioned looking around.
"You know very well," she tells him, trying her hardest not to roll her eyes.
"He has gone to the Crag to accept the surrender. Aye, gone to the Crag, but not to negotiate. He brought that foreign bitch with him," he yelled.
"How dare you," she yelled back. Noticing that things are beginning to escalate Brienne pulls out her sword.
"Threatening my lady is an act of treason," Brienne states.
"Treason? How can it be treason to kill Lannisters," Rickard yells out in anger.
"I understand your grief, my lord, better than most, I understand it. But in the name of my son, the King in the North, stand down," Catelyn states again.
"When your son returns, I will demand this murderer's head," Rickard demands.
"Wise men do not make demands of kings," Catelyn states.
"Fathers who love their sons do. I will have his head," Rickard says before walking away.
"Thank you for fighting on my behalf, Lady Stark. I would have come to your defense, but-," Jaime was cut off.
"Take him to the stockades. Bind him with every chain you can find," Catelyn says, tired of hearing his voice and snarky remarks.
"You've become a real she-wolf in your later years. There's not much fish left in you," Jaime states.
"And gag him," Catelyn exclaims while she turns around and begins heading back to her tent. She needs Jaime alive, but he doesn't need his tongue does he.
