Protect Her At All Costs

Catelyn Stark the moment she saw who was placed at her feet had many thoughts crossing her head. One being she has a bargaining chip to get back the rest of her family. Another was this war had a turning part and this was it. Was it for their benefit, she was not too sure? Her last thought was to Arabella. What would happen now that Jaime was in the same camp as her? Will she tell him the truth about who she is, and what about her being pregnant? Would she help persuade Jaime to help get her sisters back?

Then she thought about Jaime. What would Jaime do if he knew she was here? Would he try to reach out to her? Would he lash out at her, since she seeked out help from her family? Would he understand why she came to them instead of him? How would he react when he finds out about her pregnancy? Will he be overjoyed or angry? If he was to get free, was he going to take her back with him? If he did, would he protect her from his sister and king? How far will he go to keep her safe?

"By the time they knew what was happening, it had already happened," Robb explained as Jaime looked up at Catelyn.

"Lady Stark. I'd offer you my word, but I seem to have lost it," Jaime said sarcastically. If Arabella had been here she would have rolled her eyes, whacked him, and told him to shut up.

"It is not your sword I want. Give me my daughters back. Give me my husband," Catelyn told him.

"I've lost them too, I'm afraid," Jaime sassed back. Even now he was sarcastic, and trying to be funny.

"Kill him, Robb. Send his head to his father. He cut down ten of our men. He killed Lord Rutherford. You saw him," Theon said, hoping to see the blonde be separated from his body.

"You kill this blonde fucker, and they kill Father, maybe Sansa and Arya too," Aster said, rolling his eyes at the young boy.

"Ashter's right. He's more use to us alive than dead. Besides I know someone I can use to get him to get him to talk," Robb said, hinting to Arabella.

"Put him in irons. Let him sit in his own shit. He won't tell anyone anything. If anything you'd put the camp in more danger than you think," Aster says.

"We could end this war right now, boy, save thousands of lives. You fight for the Starks, I fight for the Lannisters. Swords or lances, teeth, nails—choose your weapons and let's end this here and now," Jaime says looking up at Robb. He knew who the better swordsman was.

"If we do it your way, Kingslayer—You'd win. We're not doing it your way," Robb said.

"Come on, pretty man," Greatjon said, picking Jaime up off the ground, and bringing him to his new home. His own cell. Leaving Jaime to his thoughts.

Jaime thought back to what Robb and Aster said. Was Arabella here, would they use her against him? He looked at Lady Stark to see if she would give anything away, and she was not giving anything away in her appearance or looks. If Arabella was here and safe, he was happy with that. Now that didn't mean that he was going to sit back in the cell without demanding to see her or even speak with her. He may act like he doesn't care, but he truly did. Would Arabella seek him out, when she hears that he's here? Will she help care for him?

Then a distressing thought came to his mind. Would she be placed in the cell with him? Would she be treated the same as he, because she was married to him? Could Jaime be that selfish and demand her to be brought to him? Clearly she was being kept a secret from the men in the camp. Was her safety worth his need to see her? No, Jaime thought. It was not worth that to him. Never in his life could he do that to her.

Tyrion was right, which happens more often than it should. She was the one made specifically for Jaime. She cared for him, when he believed he truly did not deserve it. She loved him, when he felt he couldn't love himself. She fought for him, when he was fighting for someone else without her knowledge. She was truthful and faithful to him when he didn't share the same values towards her. He vowed that starting now he was going to do everything in his power to keep her safe, even if it meant his happiness, life, or limbs.

Catelyn went to her tent to think. Should she tell Arabella before the news gets back to her? Should she talk to Amelia to let her know to keep it away from her? Should she talk to Jaime? Let him know that she is safe, but being kept hidden? The more she thought about it she knew that she needed to let Arabella know, and talk to Jaime. But for now she will tell Amelia to keep the news from Arabella until she can talk to Jaime.

Catelyn began looking for Amelia but thankfully she did not need to look hard. Amelia was just outside of Arabella's tent. Catelyn called the girl over and informed her of what was going on and to keep the news away from Arabella until tonight. Amelia agreed to it with some hesitation, knowing how Arabella would react knowing Jaime was here. She recommended to Catelyn that she should definitely let her know prior to tomorrow. Catelyn agreed, knowing how angry Arabella could be when things are kept from her, and it can be quite bad and scary to witness.

Catelyn left the girl and went in search of the lion that was her good son in law. She found him, Brienne was with her incase of any issues. He was sitting in his own private cell away from other prisoners. Wise decision she thought. Jaime was quick witted when it came to getting others to turn against each other.

"Let me speak with him, Privately," Catelyn demanded at the guard.

"But my lady," he started.

"You pledged loyalty to my son and made him king. I am his mother and I am making a request and you can not deny it," she stated glaring at the guard.

"Of course my lady," the guard stuttered, "I will go watch over the other prisoners over there".

The guard quickly left leaving the two women and the man alone. Catelyn walked in the cell and quickly began to regret it.

"Lady Stark if you wanted to be alone with you, you should have just asked. I'm quite the pleaser in bed, just ask your oldest daughter. Oh wait, she's missing as well," Jaime said trying to get a reaction out of her. Catelyn gave Brieanne a nod and she quickly slapped him across the face.

"You hide behind your jokes and wit, but I know you are just seeking answers. Arabella is here, she is safe. No thanks to you and your family," Catelyn said looking over the man before her. She could see the relief written all over her face.

"Thank you. I am sorry I failed my duty to keep her safe. I thought she was safer there with Ned and her sisters. Had I known what was going to happen I swear to you that I would have never left her there alone," Jaime said.

He can admit that he was foolish to think that she would be kept safe with his sister. Cersei had expressed many times when he was still seeing her that she wanted the girl gone in any way possible. And he knew that she had some plots of her own, which is why Jaime agreed to Arabella's terms of picking her own handmaiden out. He had met Amelia and quickly agreed that the girl was the perfect fit for Arabella. She was just as quick to speak her mind against Jaime. She caught on from the glaces that Jaime was not entirely faithful to Arabella. Amelia had threatened to tell Arabella. It only took once and Jaime quit all together. He swore to Amelia he would not do it again.

"You seem to have failed many duties," Catelyn told him.

"Yeah, I have. But I only regret one. I should have protected Arabella better. But she is safer here, is she not," he questioned.

"She is safe, as long as she keeps hidden. Only a handful of people know she is in this camp. I intend to keep it that way," she explained.

"I would give you my word, but I doubt you would trust that. And you would be foolish too after my record. I would give my life to keep her safe, I promise you that," He tells Catelyn.

"I'll trust you to it. I may try to bring her by later when night can cover her in its darkness," Catelyn says. Jaime nearly leaps up with happiness being able to see her.

"No, don't I do not want to risk her safety for my happiness," he tells her.

"It won't for you, but she will find out and seek you anyway. She has some news to share with you and I believe I can find a way to keep her safe and allow you both some time with each other to discuss what needs to be addressed," Catelyn says, "I may not like you, and you may be married into this family. However my daughter deserves to be able to trust someone in these trying times. As much as I hate to say it, I would rather her have you in her corner as well".

"Thank you Lady Stark. I will do my best to honor your wishes," Jaime tells her, honesty ringing true in his eyes.
