Chapter - 28 : Destiny's Payback

Swara came out of dressing room and her gaze went to the picture above their bed where Sanskar was filling her hairline.

'I am sorry Sanskar, I misunderstood you. But it's high time we have been nurturing this hatred, I want to start a fresh. I know you are mad at me, but I will make it for both of us. I am coming to you for forever. Not as your business rival Ms. Swara Mehra or daughter of Anurag Mehra, but as your wife Mrs. Swara Sanskar Maheshwari.'

Swara lied down on bed of her side. Her hand automatically went to his side of bed. She was missing his presence, his scent, his intense gaze on her. Neil's words were ringing in her ears taking away her sleep.

'He wanted to return all his stake on Mehra Business House, Dad is preparing papers for creating trust and then he would be transferring his POA to you Swara. He is aggressive in business, but this is not his way' Neil's words rang in her ears when he was driving to drop her to home.

Swara turned to take her mobile to see his pictures from their marriage, post marriage rituals, receptions, Neil's wedding shared to her by her sweet sister in law Uttara.

Swara was looking at her mobile for time after every ten minutes. Every passing minute felt like an hour. Finally, at 5 am she got up from her bed and went to freshen up. She got ready as Jet would be ready by 7 am to take her to her husband.

Swara came downstairs, Maheshwari House was in morning hustle bustle. Sujata and Ram saw her and came to her. They both were feeling inner satisfaction about their children who were proceeding in their relation.

"Take care Beta, and just message me once you reached" Sujata informed caressing her hairs.

"Yes, she is absolutely right. I have messaged Sanskar, last night that you are coming. His phone was on silent maybe he would be busy with his late-night meetings. It's good you are taking Roger with you for security." Ram assured but then his gaze went at the entrance of drawing room, entire Singhania family was there at early morning.

"Good Morning Dev, Neil." Ram wished but he was perplexed with their unexpected visit at this early hour of morning. Their faces were clear picture of their grief which alarmed three of them.

"Nandini, come. Good Morning" Sujata wished but she was also confused at their entry.

Roger also entered behind Singhania family bowing his head and not meeting his eyes with any one of them.

"Mom, I am leaving. Roger let's go" Swara asked and turned after greeting Singhania family members with small smile and nod.

"Mam, I think we should wait" Roger stammered looking at Neil every time who was rubbing his forehead with his fingers.

"Ram just sit down. Sujata Bhabhi and Swara Beta you too. Please" Dev wrapped his arms around Ram's shoulder making him sit on couch. Nandini and Samaira held Sujata and Swara respectively. They were sure the news they were going to share would shake the foundation of his house.

"Ram, last night Sanskar had some meetings but he left in middle. He left for somewhere without informing and taking his security." Dev started broaching the topic, carefully choosing his words to form a sentence.

"When even after one hour, he did not come back, security team started looking for him. Firstly, they tracked his location through phone but then when they reached at the location, his phone was lying on the roads. Some 50-60 Kms away they found his car. But...But it... it was cr...cra...crashed" Dev finally voiced out about the mishap holding Ram's hand in his.

Ram was looking at his friend in blank mode, it took few moments for him to register what his friend was blurting out, same was the condition of Swara and Sujata.

Swara immediately looked at Neil with terror-stricken face, whose glassy eyes were enough to confirm Swara. Tears started rolling on her cheeks, her body became icy cold and her heart stopped beating resulting in dizziness. Samaira held her shoulders in support.

Early morning Neil had received news about mishap from Roger, he immediately informed his family members and they came to Maheshwari house for emotional support.

"Cr...Crashed means?" Ram was blank, words slipped from his mouth with out his notice.

"Where is he? Is he fine" Sujata asked with thudded heart.

Swara's hold on Samaira's hand got more tightened.

"We... we don't know Aunty where he is?" Neil confirmed shaking his head in denial.

"What do you mean you don't know Neil?" Sujata asked being scared.

"Aunty, when Security team reached to the location, he was not there in the car. They are searching for him in nearby hospitals and clinics but till now we have not received any news." Neil responded controlling his tears, but his tears betrayed him slipping from his eyes.

"Sujata" Nandini shrieked when she felt her body weight.

"Mom" Swara ran to her.

"Sujata" Ram pulled her in his embrace and made her sit on the couch.

Nandini brought water and sprinkled on her face. Sujata gained senses looking at Ram in terror stricken.

"Sanskar...Ram...Sanskar... Ram San...where is he? Bring him back to me. I want my son in front of my eyes right now. Bring him anyhow" Sujata was crying bitterly.

Swara was shattered hearing Sanskar's missing news. She was shivering under extreme fear, unknowingly her fingers gripped her Mangalsutra, the simple black beads thread tied around her neck gave her assurance about his safety.

"Aunty I am going to Kolkatta along with Roger and Niren, I will bring him back" Neil kneeled down in front of Sujata. He tried to assure her confidently holding her palm in his, but one tear dropped on his cheeks. Sanskar was more than a brother to him from childhood.

"I am coming with you Neil" Swara declared wiping her tears.

"Me too" Ram seconded.

"Uncle, Swara... look at Aunty's condition. She needs both of you to be here to support her. I promise, I will bring him back" Neil assured and after lot of convincing sessions Ram and Swara agreed to stay back in Mumbai for Sujata. She had gone in her panic mode; she was sobbing hysterically.

Neil took leave and started moving towards main door followed by Niren and Roger. Swara ran to him calling him from back "Neil".

He looked at fragile and vulnerable Swara, he had always seen her as strong, independent, cold, fierce girl but today, he was seeing exact opposite version of Swara.

"Will you please bring him?" Swara mumbled innocently.

"He has to come back Swara. He must have lot of things to talk to you. Trust me I will bring him back. And once he is back we both will break his bones for making you cry" Neil assured tapping his palm on her head.

"No...You will not break his bones" Swara shook her head naively.

"Take care" Neil blinked and turned to leave.

Meanwhile every other family member was awake and had received news about Sanskar's missing. Divya became hysteric after knowing about her nephew whereas Siddhant scrunched his eyebrows 'what does it mean he is missing? He should be dead by now. Did anyone help him to reach to hospital? but looking at the picture of car crash, his survival chances are minimal. Let's wait for some time we will be receiving news soon.'

Swara returned back to family room being lifeless, all moments she spent with Sanskar was replaying in front of her gloomy eyes. She wiped her tears looking at broken Sujata. She with the help of Nandini and Samaira took Sujata to her room. She was losing her consciences crying bitterly for her son.

Swara knew she needed to stay strong atleast for Sujata. 'No nothing can happen to him. He has to come back for this family... for me ... for us ... for our marriage. He can't leave me in middle.'

Their family doctor came and gave sedatives to Sujata to make her sleep. Swara thought to come downstairs to join her father in law and Dev uncle to understand what next steps they are taking. She was descending stairs when she heard Anurag's voice.

"Shona" Anurag came to Maheshwari house. He had received message from Dev early morning.

"Papa...." Swara ran to her father crying bitterly, when she saw her father, her façade to show her stable and robust demeanor flowed into enduring tears.

"Shona" He pulled her in his embrace caressing her hairs.

"Papa...I don't know, where is he? What happened to him? Papa please bring him back. They said his car was..." Swara could not complete but broke down in her father's warm embrace.

"Shona...Shona...you are my strong girl right... he will come back...he has to come back. We will bring him back anyhow." Anurag assured and tightened his embrace. When Anurag felt his daughter was stable, they both moved inside study room.

Soon it became evening, but still there was no news about Sanskar. Everyone was in continuous touch with Neil or Roger. They all three were searching for Sanskar at every nearest possible hospital or clinic. One search team was looking into the forest area.

Still there was no news about Sanskar, every passing minute was shattering their hopes. Swara was trying her best to show herself as strong for Sujata. But Anurag knew how much his daughter was dying inside, his experienced eyes did not miss her silent tears. He could see from her swollen and red eyes that his daughter had fell in love with her husband but unaware of her own feelings.

Anurag came to house temple; he joined his hands in front of Kanhaji's idol. Dev put his hand on his shoulder.

"Dev, I don't want my daughter to face the same fate as of me" Anurag mumbled still staring at Kanhaji's idol. Tear slipped from his eyes, remembering his downfall, no one would want to see their child to face such devastating days destroying their small family into pieces.

"She will not Anurag. Sanskar will come back." Dev confirmed but he was also scared as even after 20 hours passed there was no news of Sanskar. One more pair of eyes were looking at them fuming and clenching his teeth, it was Siddhant.

'What is happening? Why am I not getting confirmed news about him?' Siddhant messaged Jaideep, his personal security head.

'Sir our men are looking for him, but he is disappeared in thin air. The moment we get hold on him, we will finish him', Siddhant received reply from other side. He was trying his best to show his support to Ram and Sujata but inwardly he was rejoicing on his success on eliminating Sanskar, his number one enemy. But his missing news was still causing some doubts in his mind.

"Sujata please eat something; from morning you have not eaten a single morsel of food." Nandini tried to convince, maids have cooked some food for everyone.

"No Nandini, I want to see Sanskar. Please ask Neil, where is he?" Sujata asked resting on bed. Just in one day she was looking 10 years older to her age.

"I know Sujata, Neil is there right, he will find Sanskar. We all are trying" Nandini persuaded.

"Mom please eat something, if you will not eat anything then Sanskar will be mad at you once he is back home" Swara composed herself while moving spoonful of khichadi in front Sujata's mouth.

"Did you eat?" Sujata asked in pale voice.

Swara nodded her head in no, "You eat first."

"Then how can I eat, when my children are shattered at this moment" Sujata pulled her in embrace caressing her hairs.

"Mom" Swara started crying bitterly, her eyes were burning from continuous crying.

"Stop your acting Swara... I know how much..." Divya fumed in anger entering in Sujata's room with her personal maid. Her eyes have turned charcoal red due to continuous crying and rage over Swara.

"Divya, this is not time to discuss" Nandini cut her in middle and tried to control situation calmly, she was well aware about Divya's hatred for Swara.

"Nandini Bhabhi, actually, this is the time to discuss" Divya was in furious mode, she was breathing heavily. She turned to Sujata and continued lashing out at Swara, "Bhabhi, how many times I told you that this cursed girl will destroy happiness of our house and look she is successful in that. She had destroyed Sanskar's life. In just two months of his marriage with her, he faced two major accidents staking his life and now we don't know, where is he?" but at last Divya could not control she broke down at the loss of her loving nephew.

"Aunty" Swara mumbled but could not complete as Divya showed her hand.

"Just don't say a word, your mother destroyed one happy family and now you want to ruin this home. But let me tell you, I won't let you win in this. I won't let you destroy Sanskar's life. Bhabhi, we need to throw her out of this house and Sanskar's life as soon as possible." Divya was in her extreme infuriated mode.

"Divya enough" Ram barked at her entering their room, he came to check on his wife when he heard his sister badmouthing about his daughter in law, "Vaishali take her to her room right now."

"Bhai?" Divya whispered looking at outraged Ram.

"Dare you say a word to my daughter Divya, I will forget you are my sister. If you cannot reduce anyone's pain, then atleast learn not to increase their turmoil. You are just pathetic, stubborn, delusional woman I have ever seen in my life. Right now, just go away from my eyes else..." Ram was shaking with extreme anger. He gave death glare to Divya to shushed her. He moved to Swara and put his palm on her head showing his support. He knew, he needed to protect his daughter in absence of his son.

Divya felt insulted infront of Sujata, Swara, Uttara, Nandini and Samaira, she left along with her personal maid without saying a word but even while going out she gave disgusting look to Swara.

"Swara Beta don't worry he will come. We will bring him" Ram closed his eyes for a moment and then ensured and caressed her hairs. He knew in this difficult time he needed to stay strong for his wife and his daughters.

"Dad, I did not" Swara could not control she got up, but her eyes filled with fresh tears.

Ram's lips stretched in smile hearing 'Dad' from her. He pulled her in his embrace caressing her hairs.

"Don't worry, this time will also pass by" Ram took deep breath.

Late night Swara came to her room followed by Samaira. Singhania family decided to stay at Maheshwari House. Men's were at study still trying their best to find whereabouts of Sanskar.

Meanwhile Samaira's phone rang, she went out to take it. It was from Neil, she knew how much her husband was broken. She needed to maintain her calm to support him but at the same time she did not want their conversation to happen in front of Swara, 'she is already broken.'

Swara looked at their pic, 'Where are you Sanskar? Are you punishing me for my deeds? Are you away from me because I betrayed you? You can punish me anyhow but please come back home. This everything is void without you. Everyone needs you Mom, Dad, Uttara and me. I also need you Sanskar. Please come back.' Tears welled up in her already swollen eyes.

"Swara why are you crying?" Sahil kept his hand on her shoulder.

Hearing his voice and feeling his touch, Swara jerked throwing his hand furiously, taking step away from his disgusting closeness.

"How dare you touch me Mr. Sahil Sengupta" Swara roared in anger. Her eyes were blazing with fire.

"Swara what happened? Why are you?" Sahil could not understand her sudden fury, till today he became used to with her arrogance and cold attitude but right now he was facing wounded lioness. He could not complete as he was cut by Swara's stern, rigid tone.

"Get out of my room right now" Swara showed him the door.

"Swara" Sahil mumbled her name looking at her in disbelief.

"Dare you take my name from your filthy mouth." Swara hurled back and continued raising her eyebrow, "Bhabhi... Don't forget I am your elder brother's wife."

"Wife? Come on Swara" Sahil grumbled.

"Mr. Sahil Sengupta, get this thing in your shitty brain that I am your elder brother's wife, Mrs. Swara Sanskar Maheshwari. If you love your life then stay away from me...else once my husband is back, he will burry you in your grave." Swara riposted narrowing her eyes.

"Do you really want him to come back?" Sahil asked being fractious.

"He will come back...and trust me... once he is back you will have to face both of us" Swara responded with full confidence and showed him door "Now leave before I call security to throw you out."

Sahil turned and started taking steps, he saw Samaira stood at the entrance folding her hands near her chest passing murderous glares to him. Earlier she heard Swara's fumed voice, she immediately cut her call with her husband to return back to her friend.

"And dare you step in this room in future. Trust me Sahil, you will not go back on your feet" Swara gritted her teeth halting Sahil in his mid-way. He took long strides to go out of their room.

Swara closed her eyes leaving deep breath feeling relief.

"It feels good Swara that you started trusting Sanskar, you both need to trust each other to start a fresh" Samaira put her palm on her shoulder giving a light squeeze. They both kept on talking about their lives staying awake full night hoping next day to bring some good news about Sanskar.

It was morning, a bright morning after darkest night, when Sanskar opened his eyes, he blinked several times to adjust his vision with bright sun light. He was feeling severe pain in his head and other parts of the body.

He observed his unfamiliar surroundings, it looked like small room to be precise some one's home. He tried to get up but lied down feeling weakness and sharp pain.

"Adi...Mr. Maheshwari please lie down. You need rest" Adarsh came forward hurriedly when he saw Sanskar getting up.

Sanskar looked at him with scrunched eyebrows not recognising his face. He was trying his best to keep his eyes open. After some moments of struggle, he was stable and could grasp his surroundings.

Adarsh helped him to sit down, pushing pillow behind his back and adjusting his blanket.

"Careful with your hand there is drip on your arm" Adarsh carefully put his hand on his stomach as it had needle connecting drip to saline bottle.

"Thanks so much." Sanskar acknowledged in meek voice.

"Hi, I am Dr. Adarsh Shrivastav. Day before last night while coming back from one event I saw your car met with an accident. So, I brought you here. You had been injured badly." Adarsh provided information looking at Sanskar's confused face.

"Ohh... thanks" Sanskar whispered passing small smile.

"No no was... it was my duty" Adarsh replied staring at his face with moist eyes.

Sanskar observed room, it did not look like any hospital room but a home, it had all required medical help.

"This is our home. If I had taken you to hospital, I had to file police complaint and then in all those procedures we would have lost precious time. I have clinic at downstairs so..." Adarsh added information. He purposefully hid how from last 24 hours he was staring at Sanskar's face without moving away from his side.

Sanskar nodded his head.

"How are you feeling now? I know, it will take time to heal wounds. You have multiple fractures at your right arm and hair line fracture on right feet. You had wounded your forehead as well... don't worry we have done scanning no internal injuries. But you need to take maximum rest." Adarsh responded not moving his gaze from Sanskar's face.

"Thank you so much for saving my life and also treating me" Sanskar was grateful at his gesture.

"What are you saying Adi... I mean Mr. Maheshwari" Adarsh responded turning his gaze to other side.

Sanskar scrunched his eyebrows hearing 'Adi', but he ignored.

"Do you know me? And please call me Sanskar" Sanskar asked genuinely.

"Who does not know you? The most influential and powerful businessman of this country. Media is there to update us about you and your family" Adarsh responded with smile.

Then Parineeta came inside the room along with hot refreshments and had her introductory session with Sanskar. He was observing this couple they looked like in their early 60's. Both of them were looking at him with longingness, his analysing gaze did not miss their silent exchanges. He observed they were continuously gazing at his face like searching something. They were taking care of him as their own family member.

"Sir, Can... Can I use your phone? I need to inform my family. They must be worrying about me" Sanskar asked remembering how he threw his phone after his breakdown on call with Swara. He was sure his family would have been devastated over his accident news.

"Your family?" Adarsh mumbled turning his glassy eyes to other side and continued passing fake smile, "Yes Sure."

Sanskar noticed Adarsh blinking his eyes to push back his unshed tears. He took phone from him and dialed number of his father's number.

"Hello" Ram's pale voice from other end stabbed his heart; his family must be crying like hell from last night due to his absence.

"Dad, it's me Sanskar" Sanskar took deep breath.

"Sanskar where are you son? How are you?" Ram was surprised hearing his son's dull voice.

"Dad, I am at one doctor's home. They saved me and brought me to their home. Don't worry I am fine" Sanskar calmly replied but his voice was filled with pain.

"Where is their home? Neil is in Kolkatta. We will come to get you" Ram asked being impatient.

"Dad don't worry, if Neil is here, he can come here. You don't need to come here. Address. One sec Dad" Sanskar took deep breath and asked "Doctor can you please tell address to my father for this location"

"Sure" Adarsh replied and took phone.

After conveying their multiple thanks to Adarsh, Ram noted down address of their location. He also informed about his mother who was sleeping under medicine effect to his son. Ram was in hurry to inform Neil about Sanskar, he did not mention anything about Swara and Sanskar purposefully skipped the topic as he was not sure what would have been her reaction over mishap. 'Did she miss me? Did she care for me? Did she cry for me? Too high hopes Sanskar. Don't forget she hates you from core of her heart.'

Sanskar was observing the room by sitting on bed resting his back with head rest. This room was nowhere close to his lavish room of Maheshwari house, it was small, simple yet giving cozy feelings to him. He himself did not understand why he felt it was feeling he was at his home. There was small study table and bookshelf was filled with lot of books, looking at the titles of the books he realised the room owner should be either medical student or practicing doctor. Room had small balcony which was giving perfect look of deep forest.

Adarsh and Parineeta were spending their maximum time with him, they only had 2 more hours with him as they had received call from Neil confirming his arrival.

Sanskar's gaze went to the side table there were several books and on top of them, there was one diary but what captured Sanskar's eyes were bangle peeping out of dairy. It was hidden in middle of pages, he himself did not realise when his hands moved towards the bangle to pulled it out.

The moment his fingertips touched the glass of bangles, image of girl from his dream flashed in front of his eyes. He jolted and moved his hand back taking bangle out but along with bangle something else came out from diary.

It was some old photograph. He took that picture to look at it and widened his eyes like his eyeballs would come out of their sockets when his mind registered that he was looking at his own picture with Swara.

He was there in picture wrapping his arm around Swara's shoulder looking at her with smile and she was staring back in his eyes with small smile clutching his jacket in her fist. It was not any normal jacket, it was doctor's apron which they both were wearing. Picture was taken in front of some big old building, looking at the background it felt like it was some of medical college. 'But when this picture was taken? What my and Swara's picture is doing here?'

'No'! As it looked like taken some decades back. Observing at the picture quality and blurriness he could easily guessed it. He was staring at the picture in blank state. His heart was thumping inside his ribcage that it would come out any time. His throat became dry, tears welled up in his eyes.

"That's my brother Aditya's picture" Adarsh came inside with his breakfast. He saw Sanskar staring at the picture in shock.

"Ohh... I ... am ... I am sorry... I should not have touched it" Sanskar stammered passing picture and asked being perplexed, "Whe...Where is he?"

"He committed suicide some 30 years back" Adarsh answered taking and caressing picture with moist eyes. But his reply drained all colours from Sanskar's face. He opened his mouth to say something, but words could not find his voice. He gaped like a fish for some moments. He closed his eyes to gain his mental and emotional equilibrium.

"An...And that girl from picture?" Sanskar asked opening his eyes with thorbbing heart.

"Janhvi, she was the love of his life, she died in his arms." Adarsh turned to other side wiping his tears.

"What had happened with them?" Sanskar asked being curious.

Adarsh stared at Sanskar's scrutinizing gaze for a moment. He turned his eyes towards picture to stare at his young brother who embraced death at young age.

"Aditya, he was the youngest member of our small family. Me, Ma, Baba and Adi were small, middle class family known as doctors family in nearby area. Baba was doctor, I was doing MD so when Adi chose medicine as his career it was no news for us. He cleared medical entrance securing first position, earning admission in the best medical college of West Bengal. He shifted to Masoori, where he met Janhvi two years later who was his junior." Adarsh slipped in memory lane, but Sanskar was looking at him without a blink.

"Janhvi Chaudhari, daughter of one of the rogues turned in to local politician of Kolkatta. Her father was MLA, she was only girl child of her parents born after three sons in big fat joint family including number of her uncles and aunts. Her family was very orthodox, conservative and narrow minded. She was pampered by her stringent father who gave her permission to study going against virtues of his entire family. Janhvi was very simple, timid and apprehensive girl, who had closed herself in her shell due to overstrictness of her family. She used to hardly talk to anyone." Janhvi's innocent image replayed in front of Adarsh's eyes stretching his lips in small smile.

"It was love at first sight for Adi, he was swiped away with Janhvi's one look. In initial days she was staying away from Adi but then soon love started brewing between them, when Adi tried to show her actual world around her. They had great time together for four years. In their vacations Adi used to bring her to meet Ma and Baba. At our first meet only, we as a family instantly loved her. Janhvi was skeptical infact scared about her family's reaction. But Baba and Ma assured her that they will talk to her parents post their graduation." Adarsh took heavy breath.

"When Adi completed his MS and Janhvi was done with her MBBS, they decided to get marry. Ma, Baba, Me, Pari we as a family went to ask her hand from Chaudhari's but they had already fixed her alliance in their circle to increase their political stake. We tried to explain and convince them but in front of their stubbornness and their conservatism they could not hear our plea." Adarsh shook his head in disappointment.

"Janhvi and Adi tried their best but her dominating father could not see his daughters' tears in front of his political gain. They put Janhvi on house arrest. As per them Adi was not capable of keeping their daughter happy. We were not super rich like them, but we were content with whatever we had. They preponed all functions for her mariage. Janhvi took drastic step just a day before her engagement she ran away from her home to Adi. We were against this but then looking at duo and stubbornness of her family, we decided to get them married. Next day was decided to tie them in holy matrimony in temple. But everything changed in that one night" Adarsh paused closing his eyes for a moment.

"At night Baba and Me got a call from hospital about emergency, we went to attend and tried our best but we could not save the patient. Patient's family lodged medical negligence case against us and mob turned over. We got to know, it was all done by Chaudhari's men. They blacken Baba's face and mine too. Baba could not take all insult, he had cardiac attack. Due to all chaos hospital officials were reluctant to admit Baba." Adarsh continued.

"Adi and Janhavi were unaware and reached Mandir along with Pari and Ma. One of our colleagues informed them about mishap. Her brothers were at entrance of Mandir. They manipulated Janhvi. And for our family's sake she sacrificed everything and walked away with her brothers leaving broken Adi behind giving her swear to him not to take any drastic step. Adi immediately came to hospital, as instructed by Chaudhari's, mob apologised for misunderstanding as they got what they wanted." Stream of tears were rolling on Adarsh'cheeks.

"We got to know that Janhvi was getting married with in next two days, Adi was broken. He was showing that he was fine, but we all knew he was dead from inside. For everyone it was normal day but for us it was the worst day as it was Janhvi's wedding. Adi was in hospital trying to keep himself busy. I was also there and then one emergency came, one bride had poisoned herself before reaching to mandal. She was none other than Janhvi." Adarsh tightly closed his eyes shaking his head.

"Adi was rooted at his place when he saw Janhvi. Me and Adi tried our best to save her, but she was also doctor. She knew what percentage of poison would result in her death. She was in ICU, me and Adi knew her chances of survival were minimal but still we were trying." Adarsh got up from bed moving towards night stand. Sanskar's gaze was following his moments.

"Till today, her pale voice rang in my ears, 'Aditya promise me, we will be together one day...one day we will be inseparable...and then we will not let anyone come between us...Promise me Aditya...Aditya ...Aditya'. She died in his arms taking his name. That moment her family realised, what they had done. Her father collapsed looking at his dead daughter. Her brothers were shocked to the core, even in their wildest of dreams they had not imagined that their timid sister would do something like this." Adarsh took out one paper from diary and gave it to Sanskar.

" This was in her hands when she died. We performed her last rituals, as per her wish Adi gave agni to her. Adi was silent, he was not even crying. He was looking at fire blankly. Slowly everyone left from there, I had to leave as Baba needed my attention, he was still admitted in hospital. Adi did not come home. Two days later police found his dead body in Hugli river. He loved her more than his own life and she loved him beyond anyone could think of." Adarsh wiped his tears taking heavy breath.

Sanskar had tears in his eyes, he was crying listening Aditya's fate, or we should say his own fate.

"Do ...do...I look... am I?" Sanskar could not find word for formulate a sentence. He asked after a long pause and asked "Do you ... do you think I... I am?"

Adarsh stared at Sanskar's tormented face for couple of moments and replied nodding his head, "almost 5 years back I saw you first time when your father introduced you to the business world. I saw your picture in one of business magazines. I was stunned to look at you. My heart said you are my Adi but my logical mind shushed it. After long battle, I started finding details about you, if you are my Adi then Janhvi has be around you somewhere. Four years, there was nothing when my mind started winning this battle I saw Janhvi, I mean your wife's image on news channel. You both were getting married to different people but then destiny played its card and you both found your love and got married" Adarsh smiled.

"Why...Why you did not come to me?" Sanskar asked impatiently.

"Would you have believed on destiny's game of love?" Adarsh asked being logical.

"May be... actually yes of course" Sanskar replied instantly and continued, "I never told this to anyone not even to my parents or my wife or my best friends but I... every night I get dream where I am running behind one girl, she is running in woods laughing. I could never see her face but...she was always there on my mind. I couldn't understand till today but now I think I know why I was running behind her" Sanskar replied understanding destiny's pay back.

"Janhvi used love to spend time in woods behind our home. She and Adi always used to go there" Adarsh seconded nodding his head.

"It's still unbelievable." Sanskar was amazed with the game destiny played with them.

"Do you remember anything else?" Adarsh asked searching something on Sanskar's face.

"No... I mean you told me all details but I don't remember anything but I feel connected to this story" Sanskar responded genuinely.

"Does she remember anything?" Adarsh asked scrunching his forehead.

"Swara... I don't know... I don't think so" Sanskar tried to remember but then widened his eyes to continue "NO she remembers name Aditya. She called me Aditya couple of times".

"Janhvi loved to call him by his full name. We all used call him as Adi but she...she always called him as Aditya" Adarsh agreed.

"You both are together right? You must be happy with each other." Adarsh assumed with grin.

"Yes" Sanskar mumbled not meeting his eyes with Adarsh, his heart did not allow to break the happy bubble of this man.

'Aditya... I love you. I love you more than anyone in this world. I am sorry for leaving you like this. But I have no other option... I tried everything in my might to convince my Baba but...I cannot allow anyone to fill my hairline with his name of sindoor. That's your right only yours. I know one day you will fill my hairline.
