You scream at the top of your lungs in utter horror. This can't be real. And yet, you feel it. You know it is. You can't stand to be here for even a single second longer. You bolt out the door faster than you even knew you were capable of running.

Your shoes slap the pavement loudly as you go for your car down the road. Your limbs are on fire. Your lungs feel strained from the running and from the screaming. The sky is pitch black overhead, cashing a dark shadow over that land. Even the outside lights that once welcomed you are dim and buzzing in a flat tone now.

You don't make it to your car. You are out of shape, remember? You need to stop, hands on your knees just to breathe. You wheeze and cough in your distress to catch your breath. You only now realize that you are also crying. Your face is wet from the streams on your cheeks.

That is when you hear a low growl. While panting, you look around you. The casino lights in the distance are enough to illuminate a pair of eyes not far from you. Then another pair. Then another. You pray to God they are that of rabbits. Very tall... very growly... rabbits.

You pull out your cell phone for a flashlight. That is when you cast the stream of light off to the left to reveal a whole pack of coyotes. Hungry, by the looks of it. And you have been bolting and panting like a wounded animal. Covered in sweat. All seasoned up for them.

"Nice coyote." You stamper, too scared to move. "You guys lost too? Happens to the best of us!" You laugh awkwardly.

They hated your joke. They rush you.

"Noooo!" You take off running to your car, hoping to reach it before they reach you. But you have forgotten again. You are out of shape. And you are already worn from the running before.

By the time they reach you, you are nowhere near your car. They circle you, surrounding your every direction. There is no room for escape. A couple approach to nip at your legs. You shriek and jump away, just for them to shrink the circle and close in on you.

Luck.

You never had any of it.

And now...

You are dead. Divided into the multiple stomachs of the predators.

Was it worth it?

Turns out you really really needed that extra time to live. Oh well.
