FIVE

The music from Tyler's party can be heard from down the road and when I pull up outside of his familiar house, the music is even louder. Cars are parked all along the street and up his driveway but I find a spot which everyone knows is reserved for us- the Elite. Teenagers litter the property, making out on bonnets of cars, dancing demonically on the lawn or even vomiting in the bushes.

"Ty's parties are always a success," Kelcy mumbles as she grabs her bag and slings it over her shoulder. I nod with a chuckle, agreeing with her statement.

I push the door of my car open and climb out with Kelcy following. After we got ready for the party, we dropped her car at her house since I'll be the designated driver tonight. Like usual.

I walk along the gravel pathway up to his house, the pounding bass of the music making the floor vibrate beneath my feet. Kelcy casts me a devious smile as she pushes the door open. When I step foot into the room, music floods my ears and the smell of alcohol and sweat wafts up my nose. Kelcy grins as she takes in the sight before her and I smile as I see the living room that is void of any furniture and now turned into a dance floor where bodies dance crammed together. That's my favorite part of a party.

We make our way upstairs and to Tyler's bedroom to put our bags down since leaving it downstairs, where anyone and everyone has access to it, isn't safe. Plus, Tyler makes sure nobody enters his room to hookup. After all, there are about a hundred other rooms for people to do the dirty deed in other than his room. People seem to be aware of this and avoid his room, knowing full well that there will be shit to pay if they enter it.

Once we close the door behind us, we make our way back into the heart of the party. Kelcy sways gently to the beat as we push through to the kitchen. Along the way I bump into someone only to find Chris smiling down at me.

"Hey," I greet and he smiles.

"Oh, hey Chris! C'mon Soph. Let's get a drink." Kelcy grabs my hand and drags me to the kitchen, away from Chris. I give him an apologetic smile and he chuckles to himself.

"Okay, so... Vodka or tequila?" She asks me from the kitchen counter where a variety of alcohol and concoctions lay with solo cups.

"I'm driving remember?" I ask and Kelcy rolls her eyes.

"One drink isn't going to hurt."

"I'll take water," I respond and Kelcy sighs.

"Alright."

She pours me a cup of water and I take it gently before she pours herself a cup of vodka and downs it in one go. Her face scrunches up due to the sour taste before she breaks into a smile and pours herself some more.

I wish I could say this wasn't a usual.

"Can we go dance now?" I ask and Kelcy smirks.

"C'mon."

We head to the dance floor, pushing through sweaty bodies before being stopped by Courtney and Megan.

"You look amazing!" Kelcy gushes at Courtney and she smiles.

"As do you." She shouts over the music. I greet her briefly before making my way into the crowd and slowly moving to the beat of the song; swaying my hips and moving my arms in the air. Moments later and it's just me and the music, nobody else, nothing to worry about. That's one thing I love so much about dancing; it's exhilarating to the point where it helps you forget.

When I open my eyes Chris is now dancing beside me along with Kelcy, Courtney and Logan making out in between the dancing. Chris winks at me and I laugh, enjoying this moment of freedom. It's times like these where we can all just let loose with each other and forget about high school drama.

I manage to ignore the stuffy air and sweaty bodies for five songs before my legs are aching from dancing and I'm parched. I push my way into the kitchen and pour myself a cup of water from the tap, trying to ignore a bunch of boys doing body shots with a young girl. I rub my temples, feeling a major headache coming along. Fortunately, I brought aspirin with me in case this happened. I go to Tyler's room to get one from my bag when I stumble into the Rebels all chilling in the hallway. The minute they see me, they scowl and I frown. I notice Tyler's door slightly open.

"You guys know the party is downstairs right?" I ask them and Nina, a girl with long black hair, green almond eyes and sharp cheekbones, laughs. I shift my weight from one foot to the other, never having to encounter all of the Rebels on my own before.

"Does it look like we care?" Another girl, Thalia, asks me.

"Tyler won't appreciate you sitting in this specific hallway. Or going through his room," I tell them, my eyes connecting with Alex's for a moment. It's funny how we're acting as if we didn't have to work with each other for the past week. His brown eyes dance with amusement but also curiosity. Maybe he's also curious as to why I'm not kicking them out.

That's what I should be doing.

"Who said we went through his room?" Alex asks with a smirk.

I scoff. "You hate us, you're sitting in the hallway where he's room in and his door to it, coincidentally, is open when it usually isn't. I wouldn't be surprised if one of you vandalized his room."

Alex's eyebrows rise in surprise before he looks at Thalia with a smile and she throws him a can of spray paint which he catches.

"Seems like you know your stuff."

I roll my eyes, "Can't you guys just move?" I ask hopefully.

"Sorry Princess, no can do," Alex responds and I glare at him.

"Fine, but I warned y-"

"What the fuck are you doing here?" I hear a voice hiss behind me and I turn around to see Tyler with Logan, Chris and Courtney close behind.

Alex gets up from where he was leaning against the wall and smirks. "Can I help you?"

"Yes. Get the fuck away from my room." Tyler hisses before Alex laughs.

"Not happening Wright,"

"Rosewood, get the fuck out." Logan hisses before his eyes drift to mine. I tense when he stares at me. "What are you doing here with them, Sophie?" He asks.

I shrug, "I was coming to get something from my bag when I bumped into them,"

"And you didn't think to come and tell us?" Courtney hisses at me. I recoil at her scornful tone.

"I was handling it just fine without you guys." I respond and Logan gives a sarcastic look.

"Yeah, because you were totally getting them to leave." He scolds sarcastically and my mouth falls agape while I frown.

"I don't care, just get out." Logan yells and Alex chuckles, rubbing his hand over his chin.

"And why would we do that?" Dylan asks from beside Alex.

Logan narrows his eyes at him, "Because if you don't, I'm going to beat your ass."

Dylan laughs before, randomly, throwing a punch straight at Logan's jaw and making him stumble backwards. I take a step back, feeling the room grow heated as the Rebels tense up. Courtney touches Logan's jaw in worry but he shrugs her off, looking back at Dylan with an amused but dangerous smile before punching him right in the gut. Chaos breaks out as Alex tries to pull Dylan away and Chris tries to pull Logan. Once they split up, Logan spits blood at Dylan and he tries to break free from Alex who only holds him tighter.

Courtney steps between the two boys looking directly at them before turning to Alex. "Get. Out." She demands lowly and Alex let's go of Dylan before walking passed us. Dylan glares at Logan as they all leave and once they're all down the hallway, Courtney pulls Logan's face towards her and she checks his busted lip.

"Are you okay?" She asks and he pushes her hands away, snapping: "I'm fine!"

Courtney steps back slightly before scratching her arm. She then turns to me and raises an eyebrow. I frown in response and she purses her lips.

"Are you happy with the results? Logan getting punched in the face?" She asks incredulously.

"How is this my fault? I didn't punch him," I quip.

"If you had called one of us from the very beginning, they would have been out sooner."

"I was going to get them to leave," I say frustratedly. She laughs.

"Well it clearly took you too long." Tyler scorns and I grit my teeth.

"Not all of us do things by demanding and threatening people." I counter.

"You better start if you want to actually get things down efficiently." She snaps but cuts me off by grabbing Logan's hand.

"C'mon, lets put ice on that." She drags him down the hallway. Tyler pushes passed me as he goes into his room to see what they've done, picking up the dropped spray can along the way. I stand awkwardly in the hallway before Chris links our hands and looks down at me with a sympathetic smile.

"Sorry, Soph." He says and I shrug.

"It's okay,"

"What did you need?" He asks and I'm reminded of my killer headache.

"An aspirin." I say, rubbing at my temples. He digs in his jeans pockets and pulls out a pack of four. I smile gratefully as he gives me one, not wanting to go into Tyler's room where he's currently fuming.

"Thank you." I smile and he winks at me. "What if I wanted a tampon though?" I try to lighten the mood with a joke and Chris chuckles.

"Maybe I have that too." He jokes back and my lips quirk into a smile despite how mad I feel at Courtney and Logan.

"How about we get back to dancing?" He asks and I nod.

"That would be great,"

If there was one thing I hated about parties and being the designated driver for your drunk friend is having to find that drunk friend. After you find them you have to get them to leave- which can take some convincing- which means you have to basically carry them to the car since they can barely walk. Then you have to find a way to get their body into the car and then make sure they're not sick in it or trying to jump out of the moving contraption. It's quite a task and sadly I haven't gotten very far regarding Kelcy because I can't find her.

She's not on the dance floor, nor by the alcohol and I don't feel particularly keen on checking in the bedrooms upstairs. I sigh as I push pass people, looking at heads to see if I can spot her. I finally decide to check outside by the pool area, only to see a crowd forming around the pool while they cheer and catcall. I push my way to the front to see Kelcy with her dress discarded, standing in her bra and panties that are wet from been in the pool. I sigh again and run around to the other side of the pool, grabbing her arm.

"Kelcy, come on, we're going home," I tell her, picking up her blue dress on the floor and pulling it over her head.

"I don't want to go home. I'm having fun." She pouts stubbornly and I purse my lips.

"Come on," I start pulling her away and the crowd boos behind us. She stumbles behind me, luckily not having her heels on anymore which could be almost anywhere. I walk out into the driveway and to my car, already having grabbed our bags from Tyler's room.

She squirms in my grip.

"I don't want to go!" She starts sobbing and I groan.

"Come on, Kelcy." I say and she cries harder, her makeup smudging everywhere. People in the driveway give us strange looks and I chew on my lip.

"Ryan Gosling is at home," I lie to her, knowing she'll believe me in her drunken state. She looks up at me, her eyes now holding excitement.

"Really?" She asks hoarsely and I nod with a smile.

"Yes. Now can we go before he leaves?"

She thinks about it for a moment and shrugs, "Okay,"

I sigh in relief, gripping her wrist and leading her to my car.

"I'm cold," she whines, rubbing at her arm.

"I have your jacket in my car." I tell her just as my car comes into view. I open the door and give her jacket first and she puts it on back-to-front but I don't bother to fix it. She slides into my backseat, laying on her back and smiling at me creepily. I slam the door and quickly get into the drivers seat before reversing out of the driveway.

"Hey, Sophie?" She asks me and I look at her in the review mirror.

"Yeah?" I respond.

"I made out with this really cute guy tonight." She slurs and I snort.

"What was his name?" I ask while making a turn.

"Mmh... I don't remember."

I chuckle. "Of course."

"Hey Sophie?" She asks me again while sitting up, and I look at her quickly.

"Mmh?"

"Do you think that if a fish dies in water, it's still considered drowning?" She asks in complete confusion and I frown at the odd question before letting out a loud laugh.

"You come up with ridiculous stuff when you're drunk, you know that?" I ask but she doesn't respond, the soft sound of her snore being the only noise. I shake my head to myself with a smile. When we pull up outside of her house, I park my car before climbing out and knocking on her front door. While I wait I look up at the black canvas that has being splattered with stars and smile at the beauty. Moments later Nathan, Kelcy's older brother, opens the door in a pair of sweatpants. He runs a hand through his messy curls.

"Hey Sophie." He greets me and I smile.

"Hey Nathan. She's passed out in the back, could you give me a hand?" I ask and he nods, walking over with me and picking her up bridal style.

"Thanks for looking out for her again." He smiles gratefully at me and I return the gesture.

"No problem."

"Do you want to stay the night? It's pretty late." He offers and I shake my head politely.

"It's okay, thanks. Tell her to call me when she's up please." I request and he nods.

"Alright, thanks again." he says as he walks to the front door. I climb back into my car and continue my journey home, looking forward to climbing into bed.

Hello again! How are you doing? I hope you're having a great day/night :)
