Chapter 14: Nights are different
Chapter fourteen: Nights are different (Ellie's POV)
This is not going very well. We've been here for thirty minutes just arguing. I suggested we flip for it but nope, nobody's got a coin, I suggested we alternate nights but nope, Zach's not willing to do that, Zach said let's get another air mattress but who's gonna pay for that one? Nobody.
So where the hell was I going to freaking sleep?
"You know what, guys? I'll just sleep on the goddamn floor, like seriously," I huffed, sitting on the armrest of the couch.
"Don't be dumb," Brett huffed.
"Then let me go home and call me when there's a place for me to sleep," I huffed while grabbing my bag.
"We had a deal, you're not allowed to leave for a month." Zach snatched it away.
"Just share the bed," Brett shrugged.
"Huh?" We asked in sync.
"Just share it till we get another air mattress. We'll split the money, fair enough?" he offered.
I glanced at Zach. Sharing a bed with him? When he's still a douchebag? And a dick? I don't know about that. He raised his eyebrows at me expectantly.
"What? Don't put the ball in my court," I said.
"Well, it is in your court. The couch, or the bed with me. Pick your poison," he shrugged before heading to the kitchen to grab some food.
"Just share. It's not for the whole time you're here, just for a few days," Brett shrugged.
"Can't you share a bed with him and I take yours? Or his?" I arched an eyebrow at him.
"Haha, funny, but no," he deadpanned.
"Brett come on, I won't walk in on you two, I swear," I taunted further.
"Hilarious." He rolled his eyes at me.
"I'm taking your bed."
"No, you're not."
"I'm taking your bed."
"No, you're not."
"Yes, I am."
"No, you're not."
"If I get there first, hell yeah I am." I began running to his room and he caught me right before I grabbed the handle. "Goddamn it!" I yelled. "Zach, come on. Just share a bed with Brett," I whined while Brett still held me in one spot.
"You share a bed with Brett," he shrugged.
"Ew," I said before comprehending it. I turned around to see an offended look on Brett's face. "Oh, I didn't mean it like that, you snore. Loud," I laughed while turning around to face him.
He shook his head disappointedly and went and stood behind his couch.
"Aww, Brett," I went and kneeled on the couch so I was closer to his height. "Your snore is cute," I pinched his cheek. I heard Zach scoff while he made himself a sandwich. Brett and I looked at him before looking at each other. "So is Zach's," I said while sitting on the couch, Brett standing behind me while we watched as Zach ignored us.
"Oh, is it?" Brett played along with me, exaggerating his amusement.
Zach hates being babied. He despises it. So it's all we do.
"Yeah, Zach has the cutest little snore, it is sooo adorable," I taunted, "Like really, really adorable. He sleeps like a baby-"
He finally snapped. "I don't even snore!" he exclaimed.
"Sure you do," I stood up and skipped over to him, standing beside him. "It's cute," I shrugged and pinched his cheek like I did to Brett but he smacked my hand away unlike Brett. Brett just grinned at me. "What's wrong?" I feigned innocence.
He looked down at me, narrowing his eyes down to slits while shaking his head ever so slightly.
"Isn't he adorable, Brett?" I asked while he walked over to us and stood on the other side, placing Zach between us.
"So adorable," Brett nodded.
Zach shook his head and went into his room, closing the door while I stood with my elbow propped up on Brett's shoulder while I sat on the counter. I high-fived him before we started laughing.
Hmm, maybe living with these two idiots won't be so bad after all.

I came out of the bathroom while letting my hair down. We all had some pizza for dinner and then messed around a little bit, watching a movie. Zach was already on his side of the bed so I got in mine and went on my phone for a bit as he did before putting it down when I got tired.
I lay on my stomach, my head facing him while he mirrored my position. "Night," I mumbled, already half asleep.
"Night," he replied.
Just an observation: Nights are different. Especially with Zach. The nights are always better.
I woke up the next morning to my alarm ringing. I hit snooze and not even five seconds later, Zach's alarm started ringing. He hit snooze. Then a little bit later mine rang again, I snoozed again. Then his rang once again. And by the third time, we were both extremely frustrated with each other.
"What weird times do you set your alarm for?" I huffed.
He groaned into his pillow.
"Seriously, who sets an alarm for seven-forty-one. Like what kind of random time is that? It's not seven-forty, it's not seven-forty-five. It's forty-one," I rambled.
Was I wrong, though? Who sets an alarm for odd times like that, that is such a random time.
"You are impossible to put up with," he said before getting up and out of my bed.
I covered my head with the pillow when I realized he was shirtless. He did not go to sleep like that, trust me, I would have noticed.
"Get up!" he threw another pillow at my stomach.
"Ow," I grunted before dragging myself out of bed and outside with him. Brett was probably still asleep. Zach moved around the kitchen making his coffee, I moved around making my tea. I turned around after grabbing the sugar from the cabinet almost bumping into him. I sighed, moving around him before turning around to grab a spoon, causing him to almost bump into me while he grabbed the milk.
I grabbed my tea and just sat on the couch to mix it because standing there I would probably spill it all over him and myself. He wouldn't be too happy about that, now would he? Once I finished it, I went into the room, grabbed my clothes, and went into the shower first.
I showered, brushed my teeth, hair, did everything as quickly as I could. I'm an impatient person, Zach isn't, but he's snappy in the mornings and I'm not gonna be the one to piss him off this morning. I got dressed and stepped out while towel-drying my hair.
Zach went in and I slipped my shoes on before going outside, hoping to grab a fruit but no, apparently fruits don't exist in this household. Brett came out of his room after getting dressed and got himself some cereal.
"You don't have any fruits here?" I asked.
"Do I eat fruits? No, so why would I have them?" he asked while sitting down.
"Well, you should eat fruits, it's better for you and you play soccer too, we're getting fruits," I huffed.
"No, we're not," he argued.
"Yes, we are. Well, I am, I'll pay for it but you better come with me," I huffed.
"I can't today, I have to go to my grandparents' house. They're doing some moving around in the place, I'm going to help."
I suppose I could go alone.
"Zach can take you, can't you?" he asked, looking up. I looked in the direction he was and saw Zach coming out while running his hand through his hair.
"What?" he asked.
"She wants to go grocery shopping, I'm not here, you can take her, can't you?" Brett asked.
He looked at me.
Why is he looking at me? It's his call.
"You don't have to, I can go by myself," I shrugged.
"I'll leave it up to you two," Brett shrugged, leaving the empty bowl in the sink.
"Do you want me to take you?" Zach asked while grabbing his bag.
"Do you want to take me?" I questioned.
"Jesus, can't you two make one thing simple for yourselves. He will take you, now let's go." And then we went off to school. Brett took his car because he's going to his grandparents' directly from school and won't be dropping by at home.
"Who are you going with?" Zach asked while unlocking his car. I simply shrugged.
"Whoever wants," I said. They both stared at me expectantly. Why do I get placed in the middle? "Seriously, whoever thinks I'm not a pain in the ass to drive with, which one of you is that?" I asked.
"It's definitely not me," Zach shook his head.
"Then I'll ride with Brett," I replied.
"Or you can ride with Zach," Brett smirked at me.
"I suppose," I stalled, "Okay, Zach. Let's go," I linked my arm with his.
He rolled his eyes and pulled away, getting in the driver's seat while Brett and I laughed before starting the drive to school.
It always used to be Brett and Zach against me, they would always team-up. But I guess two years changed that.
The teams have to switch at some point now, don't they?
