KEELY PLACED A
cold glass of beer down in front of the man across the bar. She wiped her hand, wet from the condensation, down the front of her shirt.

"Don't break the glass this time," She tapped her hand against the wooden bar. "I'm not explaining anymore missing glassware." A light smile was was evident on her face, showing that she wasn't too serious about the matter.

Keely turned back around and continued to wipe down a few glasses. A sheen of sweat was evident on her forehead and her dark hair clung to the back of her neck. Her brother, Riley, was cleaning up while she worked the bar.

Keely wiped over the bar with a wet rag, when someone caught her attention. It was Elijah walking through the doors.

He came and sat down at the bar. Keely walked over. "So, what can I get you?" She gave him a smile. "Water would be great."

"So, this is what you spend your time doing" Keely gave a small laugh. "Yeah, this and playing up there." She nodded her head toward the dimly lit wooden stage. No one was playing tonight, something that didn't happen very often.

She filled up a glass with water for Elijah, placing it in front of him. Keely against the bar. "You have any plans?" He shook his head her question. "Good, give me five minutes then we are leaving" she gave him a charming smile.

She handed out the last few glasses of alcohol and wiped down the bar once more, before grabbing her coat and returning to Elijah.

Keely flagged her brother down, "Riley, can you take it from here?" He gave her a nod, turning back to filling a tray with dirty glasses.

Keely lifted herself over the bar, sliding her legs across the dark coloured wood, before landing nimbly on her feet. "Come on, you get to walk me home" she grabbed Elijah's hand and tugged him forward.

The two walked out of the bar and onto the street. It was about three in the morning. The sky was already beginning to lighten, ready for day ahead.

"Alright, now tell me about those siblings" Keely turned to face the man beside her.

"Well, the oldest is Finn, we don't exactly talk much anymore," Elijah said. "Then after me is Niklaus, I don't have enough words to describe him, but I do hope you have never meet, he's not the most pleasant person."

"But you love him, don't you?," Keely questioned. Her breath came out in white clouds from the cold air.

Elijah nodded his head, "Yes, even after all his done, I still care for."

"Well, you have too, he's your brother"

The two walked for awhile in silence, before Keely spoke again. "What about your other two siblings?"

"There's Kol, he doesn't have much restraint when he does, well, anything. He likes to mess with people," Elijah's voice turned bitter "It's all just a game to him." Keely gave the coffee eyed man a sad smile.

"The youngest is Rebekah, she deserves so much more than what she gets from us."

Keely responded, "You seem like a good person to me, and I'm sure your siblings are lucky to have you."

If only she truly knew what Elijah and his siblings were, all the horrible things they'd done. He was sure her opinion would change then.

The pair stopped in front of a weathered house. The lights were shining through the window of one of the rooms. Keely and her brothers housemates were obviously still up.

The Irish girl turned to the vampire beside her, "This is me, do you want to come in?" He shook his head,"I really should be going now."

"Alright, well, I'll see you around then." She gave him a pat on his shoulder, before turning away. Keely walked up the cracked concrete path and disappeared into the old house.

Elijah lingered out for the front of the house for a few minutes. He didn't know why he felt comfortable telling the Irish girl what he had told her. They'd only known each other for two days, he didn't even know her last name.

Elijah wanted to stay away from her, to keep her safe from the supernatural and everything that came with it. But he just couldn't. Keely was like she was a magnet, and he had no control over himself.
