TWO

TWO

Finally, reaching our destination, which was the church Braeden had stopped the motorbike. Scott and I jump off, and down below were the Church. The place where you won't find God. "La iglesia." Braeden told us, and there were buildings that were destroyed around it the church seemed to be the only thing standing.

"What happened here?" Scott and I both asked at the same time. I smirk slightly, as we watched the destroyed town from above on a little hill.

"An earthquake," Braeden explained. My heart dropped, poor people. "It leveled the town."

"Why is the church still standing?" I asked.

"The locals think because of what's underneath," Braeden said.

"Do we wanna know?" Scott asked.

The Church was built over the ruins of an Aztec temple." She explained. "It belonged to a people called the nagual."

Scott turned his head at the mention of that name. "Shapeshifters?" He translated.

"Were-jaguars." Braeden corrected, turning her head towards Scott. Scott and I looked at each other for a second, before looking down at the Church.

The wind was blowing out all the dust. "So Derek and Kate are somewhere in there?" Scott asks.

"I don't know." Braeden told us, then looked at us."Never gotten this far before."

Braeden walked back over to the gate, and I stood on my tippy-toes and whispered in Scott's ear; "It causes we have a true Alpha now by our side." He smirked down at me and walked off the motorbike. I, however, stayed to watch the view a little longer until someone decided to call me over.

"Stacey, let's go," Scott calls me over, I sighed, running a hand through my hand and I turned around on one heel and walked over to where Scott and Braeden were.

With a flashlight, as it was now dark, I'm holding the flashlight, Scott and Braeden walked beside me as we walked over to the Church. Braeden was with her gun, I had the flashlight, and Scott had his claws. Braeden cocks her gun when we turned the corner to the opening of the Church.

Scott stared at her gun. "If you find Kate in here, what are you gonna do with her?" Scott asked slowly, I wanted to kill her, personally.

"Bring her back to the Calaveras," Braeden told us as she started to walk again. Scott and I followed. "That's what they paid me for."

"What happens after that?" I ask as I pointed the flashlight around.

"Not my problem." Braeden sassed.

"I like you." I told her, and she smirked over at me.

"You don't care?" Scott asked.

"Do you?" She fires back at my brother, making me grin. "She's a mass murderer."

If there's one thing about Scott that I've learned about him is that no matter how big or small, no matter what their background is, he always tried to save them and help them become a better person. One of the many things I love about him.

"And you're a mercenary," Scott told her softly, as Braeden holds her gun in her hand.

"Girl's gotta eat." Braeden told him, with showing no emotion.

"If you were paid enough, would you kill her?" Scott continued on with the questions. Boy, oh boy.

She stopped and turned to us. "If the money was good, I'd kill you and Stacey," Braeden told us and my eyes widen. She continued to walk, and I found Scott slipping his hands in mine. He gave it as squeezed my hand and I looked at him. We continued to walk after Braeden.

Braeden pushed down a wooden floorboard that covered the entrance and we walked in. The church was dirty, the seats were still here, leaves were around, old floorboards everywhere. It was a giant mess. "Can you catch Derek's scent?" I asked Scott.

"Yeah. Already got it." I smiled. Consider me impressed. He stopped me, and Braeden stopped as well, Scott was listening.

"What?" Braeden snapped.

"There's something else in here," Scott informed us, I'm not surprised. If it was Peter, I wouldn't be surprised either. That guy shows up everywhere.

"Something like what?" I whisper, my whisper echoing. Consider me creeped out.

"Something not human." Scott told us. Cue scary music. I notice Scott still hadn't let go of my hand, we used to hold each other's hand a lot when we were younger, but now, we hardly ever do and it's not holding someone else's hand other than Stiles'. Braeden cocked her gun again and continued to walk forward. Scott dragged me along.

After a long time of trying to find something, we found old stairs, that had cobwebs hanging from it. I'm officially grossed out. I hate cobwebs. I flash the light down the stairs, it was covered in cobwebs! "So, how come you didn't kiss her?" Braeden asked.

I frown. What?

We slowly made our way down on the steps. "What?" Scott asked, speaking allowed what I had been thinking.

"How come you didn't kiss your girlfriend?" Braeden asked again. My eyes widen realizing what she said and I let out a laugh. She thinks Kira is Scott's boyfriend... oh god.

"You mean Kira?" I asked.

"Whatever her name is." Braeden said.

"Well, she's not really, uh..." Scott trailed off.  "I mean, we've never actually... she's not my girlfriend."

"So if you die down here, are you gonna regret not kissing her?" Braeden asked. Scott looked at Braeden. "You should've kissed your girlfriend. Stacey, well done, you kissed your boyfriend goodbye." She pats my shoulder and I rolled my eyes.

This place keeps getting creeper as we move down the hall that had cobwebs hanging from it and dead twigs poking out. My heart started to pound. Maybe I should've stayed with Stiles. Scott squeezed my hand tighter. You could hear the wind from outside blowing and the sound of bones being heard.

As we moved a step, some sand fell from the ceiling making my eyes widen. Oh god. We continued very slowly, trying to not make any sound. I almost screamed, but quickly put a hand over my mouth when I saw a skeleton of a body. My heart was racing.

I keep hearing the sound of bones moving, making my spine shiver. My eyes went glassy. Scott had this look on his face, and it was bugging me. "What?" I hiss at him, trying to stay quiet. He was listening in on something.

He turned his head slowly before replying. "Just had this feeling like something was behind us." Scott explained softly to us, well, that's not creepy at all. I bit on my lower lip. Don't be scared. I was extremely worried now, thanks, Scott. Braeden, alarmed, held up her gun.

We started to move again, and I dared to turn my head around, but nothing was there. Pressing my lips together, we continued and I turned back around. That's when I heard an exhale, and I wasn't the only one that heard it, as all three of us turned around, alarmed.

"You hear that?" Braeden asked, now worried. I nodded- I'm too scared to speak. In the distance, there was a low and deep growl making my heart race. I let out a whimper.

"Is this why you never get that far?" Scott asked. As we watch the hallways, hearing footsteps running.

"Get ready!" Braeden warned us, for what? I told have any blood weapons with me! My eyes widen when a monstrous thing came towards us, and Braeden held up her gun, and she fired. Braeden continued to fire, aiming it at the thing. We backed up as it got closer to us, for its head, it had a skull. "Where is it? Do you see it?"

"No, I don't know! I can't see anything!" Scott panicked, making me panic. Braeden cocks her gun again.

"Where is this thing?" Braeden mutters, looking around... it vanished. I heard the low growl, making my eyes widen.

"It's coming back! It's coming back!" Scott informed, I would say something sarastic back to him, but I'm really terrified right now.

"Guys, get behind me." Braeden whispered, I didn't question anything, and I got behind Braeden. "Scott, get behind me!" Scott did the opposite thing, in fact, he stepped forward, standing in front of Braeden and me.

I blocked my ears as he lets out a loud roar, the alpha he is. Some of the ceiling bits came out, and onto the ground. The roar echoed. Scott turned to us. "I think I scared it."

"I think you scared everything." I hiss. I turned around and the sound of crashing behind me, and I frown as another entrance had occurred. "What is that?" I held my flashlight towards the door.

Being the idiots we were, we walked through the little doorway. There was this pattern on the wall, and we stepped through the doorway, jumping on the ground. "Tezcatlipoca," Braeden explained. "The nagual jaguar God." She then turned to us as we stand close to the Tezcatlipoca. "I think we found Derek."

Scott then bends down to the Tezcatlipoca and puts an ear on it. Probably listening for a heartbeat. He looked at it, confused, brushing a hand over the Tezcatlipoca. He then stands up. "Stand back." Scott warned us, and I took a couple steps back much like Braeden did. Scott then puts a fist through the Tezcatlipoca, breaking it.

With that damage, he removed a few pieces from it, trying to get in. I bend down to Scott and flashed the torch on Derek. My eyes widen as Derek... who looked about 15, reached out a hand for us.

Holy crap. "Oh, my god."

Braeden walks out with her gun, as we exit the Church. Unfortunately, it was dark, fortunately, Stiles had fixed his Jeep and had jumped out of it, running towards us, well, me. Braeden had taken over for me for keeping Derek up and made him wrap an arm around her shoulder, supporting him.

I ran over to Stiles, and he quickly as soon as he reached me, pulled me into a tight hug and I sighed. I pulled out, siding hugging him, and watched Braeden and Scott drag young Derek. Stiles kind of stared, in shock.

Malia, Kira, and Lydia had walked over to us. "Is that him?" Malia asked, looking at us. "Is that Derek?"

"Uh... sort of." I mumble, how the hell are we gonna change Derek back?
