"IIIITTTSSSS THE WEEKENEDDDDD!!!!" Orson screamed, jumping up and bouncing on his bed. "HOORAAAYYY!!!" Suddenly he was hit the head with his rubber band ball and fell off the bed.

"Shut up!" Shouted Quint, who had made the effort to get up so he could throw the rubber band ball. "For Force sake's, Orson Krennic, it is FIVE in the morning!"

"Five is a completely perfect time to get up on the weekend."

"WEEKENDS ARE MEANT FOR SLEEPING IN!!"

"That's what schooldays are for. Weekends, you get up early and stay up late so you can cram all your stuff in!"

"Your obsession with Galen Erso may be able to wake you up at 0500 in the morning despite going to bed around 2300, but I like to get my beauty rest. So shut up!" Quint bumbled back to bed and fell asleep.

Orson shrugged. He got dressed and gathered the items Galen gave him. Then he went into the student commons, a large room with tables that could seat five to six. The commons was the perfect place for students to study, or eat, or both. It was even surrounded by a few stores for people to buy food. Orson bought himself a burrito and began working on his Lego creation.

He was nearly done with the thing when he heard someone walk up behind him. "May I sit here?" Galen asked. Orson's heart leapt and he immediately nodded. Galen sat next to him, a chocolate bar in one hand. His other hand had a cast that lead up from his wrist to his shoulder. Galen looked exhausted.

"Are you okay?" Orson asked him.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine. Just tired."

"What happened to your arm?"

"Well after I walked you home last night I got this great idea for the machine. So I went to work on it but I forgot some screw and part of it fell off and broke my arm. Even worse, it had to be my dominant arm."

Orson felt bad for Galen (who wouldn't?). "Sorry about that... can I get you something to eat? Besides the chocolate?" Why did Galen eat so much chocolate? It was weird. Orson realized that the only time he really didn't see Galen nibbling on chocolate was when he met him.

"No... I'll get it myself."

"No, I'm serious! I'll get it!"

"Alright. I could go for some oatmeal." Orson immediately jumped up and bought oatmeal for Galen.

Galen had trouble trying to eat it. Orson wished he could help but he didn't think Galen would like the offer. He went back to working on the Lego thing to keep his mind off Galen for a moment, which didn't work. Just the thought of Galen sitting next to him made the teen start to do stupid stuff.

"So! What should we do today? I mean- what are you doing today?" Orson stammered.

Galen shrugged. "I dunno. My roommate had a girlfriend so he won't be around for the whole weekend and I don't have many friends. I guess science stuff."

"Or we could go for a walk," Orson suggested. He just really wanted to be with Galen, especially since he had TWO FREE DAYS. What better way to spend the weekend than spend it with Galen?

Galen nodded. "We could go for a walk morning." He then glanced at Orson in a weird way. "Why are you... stroking my arm?"

Orson froze. Was he? Oh god, he was. He quickly pulled away and said "Sorry! Sorry!" He looked down, trying to hide his blush.

Galen shook his head. "You are one weird man, Orson." Orson's heart sank when he heard this. Was that what Galen really thought of him? Did Galen not have any feelings for him at all? WAS ALL THIS FLIRTING IN VAIN!?? WAS HE EVEN FLIRTING CORRECTLY?!??

"AAAUUUGGGHHH!!" Orson screamed, making Galen jump.

"Orson! Orson are you okay?!" Galen cried. Orson realized what he had done and blushed even deeper. He nodded slowly. "Kriff, you scared me!"

That was all Orson needed to hear to feel happy again. Galen cared! He felt happy again. "I'm fine. Just... a random outburst."

After eating, they went for a walk. Galen knew of an area where there was a titanic courtyard with soft grass in the middle. Dozens of students were already awake, playing sports or sitting around and chatting. Orson had never felt grass so soft! He got down on his knees and felt the latex feeling of the grass.

"I assume you haven't seen much grass?" Galen asked.

"No... its just... it's really nice here..." Galen had it right. Orson had grown up in a city on Lexrul where there was little to no grass. Seeing this much filled him with wonder.

"That's why I brought you here," said Galen.

Orson stood up. He wondered if he could do a cartwheel here. He knew about cartwheels but never had tried one. Would he seem unprofessional to Galen if he did one now? Then again, he really hadn't bee very professional around Galen so far. So Orson tried. He turned into a failure and he ended up on his back.

Galen laughed at him. Most of them time when someone laughed at Orson, he hated them and sometimes punched them. But seeing Galen laugh made Orson feel extremely happy.

"Here, let me help you," said Galen as he pulled Orson up. "Straighten your legs out and stiffen your arms. That's it! Now, move fast enough so that you won't end up on your back." Orson obeyed. He did a more or less decent cartwheel. In fact, he thought he did horrible. But Galen looked extremely pleased. "Nice!"

"Can you do one?" Orson asked.

"No, not with my broken arm."

"He can do a backflip," said a new voice. Orson looked up to see Galen's roommate, Cordren. He had a girl next to him, clinging on to his arm. "Galen, show him what you can do."

"No," said Galen. "I'd rather not. And I'm not that good at them."

"Aw come on! The kid would love it!" Orson hated being called kid. He wanted to punch Cordren.

"Cordren, I would rather not."

The girl frowned. "Come on, Galen!" She said.

"Lyra, I don't feel like it right now."

Cordren and Lyra continued to pressure Galen, making he scientist angry and a verbal fight broke out, going off topic and arguing about things that Orson realized were more personal matters. This got Orson mad, watching them talk to Galen like that so he walked between the three and said "He doesn't want to do it. Back off."

"Orson..." Galen began but Orson had other ideas. He struck his fist towards Lyra. Lyra grabbed it and threw Orson to the ground.

"Lyra!" Galen screamed. "Lyra, don't do that!"

"It's self defense!" Lyra argued.

With us good arm, Galen helped Orson up. "I think Lyra has been influencing you too much, Cordren." He lead Orson away from the two and found a tree to sit under.

Orson's back really hurt. Lyra hadn't been the least but gentle to him and it didn't help that she was quite a bit taller than him, making it easy for her to raise him high enough so that when she threw him down; it knocked the wind from him. He bit his lip, trying not to cry.

Galen had him lay down under the tree. "Are you okay?" He asked softly.

Orson nodded, but he couldn't stop the tears from welling up in his eyes. He hadn't realized how small he was until now. Suddenly reality hit him and he knew that he wouldn't be able to survive a fight, even if he did have a chance.

Galen sat down next to him. "Lyra is kind of weird that way. She did the same thing to me when Cordren and I got into a fight."

The pain seemed to have deepened as Galen talked. Orson just wanted to go back to his dorm and cry. He wasn't a strong boy, but he didn't want Galen to see that. Orson forced himself to sit up (which hurt like hell) and told Galen what he planned to do. "It will probably be good for me to rest there."

Galen looked into Orson's eyes. Then he reached forward and hugged Orson. "You can cry. I don't mind."

And that's what Orson did. He cried into Galen's shoulder while the older man rubbed circles on his back. Orson shivered a little under Galen's touch but at least the pain seemed to be going away with the back massage.

I really like Lyra but for plot purposes she's going to be a boneheaded for a while.
