Chapter 30: Galaxy Pirate Emperor Arubah Arruroe

Sinbad remained loyal to his feelings for Maluma because if ever a Herminoid truly fell in love, it was for a single time. Sinbad knew he bore such a feeling only towards Maluma, even though she couldn't feel the same towards him. He could never love and cherish any other woman as he loved and cherished her. He respected Maluma's decision, even though he counted it wrong. He knew Maluma was Queen Jallanne's child so she might have inherited such strange tastes from her mother. He stayed the main protector and supporter of the woman, because, no matter how hard Roderigo might try, he was still but a powerless Gaian Worm in the end, or so he considered.

When Roderigo grew to thirty years, Maluma bore him a son. Sinbad helped with the childbirth, sending his energy to Maluma as a power charge since she had mated other species than a Herminoid and this lowly man could provide no such support (he remembered how his father Erniel would often retell that back when Queen Jallanne gave birth, no matter Yuuh possessed the Crimson Ardour, neither he could provide the necessary power charge, hence it was done by Erniel to support his sister until the end). The Herminoids had it difficult during the childbirth – not only the wife, but the husband too had to engage, because while giving birth, the woman was to completely drain her energy reserves. The husband would give his ones in advance in order for the wife to survive. Misguided childbirths were the result of this difficult endeavour – if any member of the couple made a single mistake, either the birth-giver or the child might even die, or the latter might be born dark.

Sinbad's powerful energy was enough for the childbirth to go smooth. After Lady Maluma once yelled like an infernal nymph, glowing and bursting into red-to-yellow energy, she gave birth to a boy (Herminoid couples often chose the gender of the seed before giving them birth, but it was done by Herminoid men since they were the ones to bear both types of seeds. As Maluma had married a human, who could not perform such high-level techniques and had to rely on chance, she was unable to choose the gender of her child beforehand). The baby had pitch-black hair and black eyes like his father. The hair bore green patterns of the Daluman genes and was able to form connections like the hair of the Herminoids. His eyes were big, expressive, sly, and wise, just like his hybrid mother's. Surprisingly for Roderigo, he was born giggling instead of crying. Maluma had to explain it was the Herminese way of birth – babies would either be calm or giggle when coming into this world. They never cried.

"Yeah, you guys certainly are some high-level species... So, what are we going to name this little idiot?"

"Come on, Roderigo, just because he's giggling doesn't mean he's an idiot!" Maluma laughed at such a cold joke of her husband that was so like him. "However, now that you mention 'little idiot'... It reminds me of my precious creation that got destroyed together with my home," she sadly eyed Sinbad, who could well understand she spoke of their mini-world back in the old days, "Since Hihi has helped us too, I guess it's only natural to choose this name. It shall bear all of our legacies and, to be honest, it kind of has a Hispanish ring to it, too! I'll name him Arubah".

"Wow, you're right, it does have a Hispanish ring to it! May I ask what the name means?"

"It is the highest technique of my Crimson Ardour which I managed to master only these late years. When my father used to cast 'Balal, Arubah', he could even destroy stars, or the reverse – build new stars and planets. It is a two-mode technique that, depending on the caster's will, can serve both for destruction and creation. I had named a little crystal guy of my and Hihi's mini-world 'Arubah', and he governed over the other mini-creatures as a god. I believe, if I name this child thus, he'll bear all the legacies of ours, even your Hispanish, and be the ultimate Hermin creature of this world – a Herminoid, a Daluma, and a human. He will be able to build and destroy worlds. He'll be truly omnipotent and omniscient, unlike any of us".

"You truly are some fiery woman... In human culture, there's a name for such a creature – a god. To be honest, we have learned by our many experiences with gods both heathen and non-heathen, that if personified, they bear only problems. There's a single step for an angel to become a demon. The way you describe this little laughing idiot's future, my feeble human heart cannot help but tremble. The realisation of the fact that I am his father makes this same heart of mine sink with heaviness".

"Ugh, Roderigo! You, Hihi, and even my father, all speak the same! Who cares if he's a demon or a god? He'll be both, depending on the circumstances. One thing I know, however – he'll be mommy's, daddy's, and uncle's ultimate creation, to smash those filthy snakes and other disgustful people who have wronged us".

"Maluma, I think you're going overboard... again," Sinbad too, considered he had to speak up, "We are Herminoids. We don't take revenge. It is beneath us. Do you want to be like my brother?"

"Don't lump me in with him! You are right, I am a Herminoid, but I am a Crimson Daluma too. We never forget those who've wronged us. We are always sure to strike back. My father told me not to lose my Arruroe pride. I will not".

"I believe, Malu, you should let the child decide on his own what he wants when he grows," Roderigo tried to resonate.

"Of course, dear! He'll be free to decide what he wants. He'll be absolutely free".

Arubah grew on the Shark Tooth. He took up all the three languages quite fast and fluently – Herminese, Daluman, Hispanish. Then he also learned Aenglish – another human language – and all the existing human tongues, studied Bakhal since it was one of the favourite cultures of his grandfather Yuuh Arruroe, read and memorized all of Yuuh Arruroe's Mind-Books, as well as human tales and legends his father used to retell him. Among these latter ones, his favourite remained to be The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha by an ancient Spanish human writer Miguel de Cervantes – the book and the writer his father adored. He took up all the different languages, cultures, ways, beliefs, principles, of all the planets in all the universes where Sinbad's crew set foot. He accompanied Sinbad in raids and enjoyed them. He was versatile: laughing, crying, grinning, exchanging words with everyone, even those captives Sinbad had taken in order to sell them as slaves or kill them.

The child showed quite some interesting traits neither Sinbad nor Maluma ever had: he would take a seat among the captives who lamented for their cruel fate, and, no matter they perceived him as the same monster as Sinbad, he'd soon drive them to like him, with his versatile nature combining quirkiness, strictness, friendliness, all in one bundle. He would make anyone smile and laugh. The captives felt at ease with him and everyone claimed 'Young Lord Arubah' was the best person on that ship. They would often even call him to their sides to tell him various tales from their past. Arubah enjoyed their tales, and later on, would urge Uncle Sinbad to pity the said people. He began to gather such thrown-aways and cast-aways pitied by Sinbad since he could not object to Maluma's son and formed a crew of his own. He easily created a ship smaller but exactly identical to the Shark Tooth. He declared he was to seek his own adventures and return when he matured enough in those broad galaxies. Maluma and Roderigo let him go.

After some years, came in the information that their beloved Arubah had massacred a thousand men with the technique of 'Balal, Arubah' (which he still had not yet mastered back when he was around his mother). Those thousand men happened to be an entire fleet of the Galaxy Navy division – the Radenoids. The reason was that they had chased him after he had brutally murdered and bathed in the blood of a governor, also a Radenoid. What was the reason for this latter action? – The fact that the governor had abused the populations he governed upon for ages. Arubah got himself caught and mocked the captors so that they decided to cast him into the worst prison of all – the Star-Rover. Furthermore, he had adopted the atrocious Daluman tradition of so-called 'necrosculpting' – their culture of crystallizing the enemies and collecting the said crystals of skulls and limbs. The first such 'trophy' he had taken was that very governor's crystal skull all in red – Arubah's favourite colour and favourite power.

Maluma's hands trembled as she eyed the vision-device announcing this news, and beheld her son's prisoner poster where he openly exposed the bloodied hands he had destroyed his enemies with.

"Goodness, I said don't forsake the Arruroe pride, but this..."

"He's got some fiery blood of yours, that's for sure. I feel truly disgusted at myself now – the way he behaves resembles the actions of one of my tyrant ancestors, a general in the World War Four back on Earth – Ernesto Alvarez. He had killed millions of people just to achieve his goals. He did not mind sacrificing underlings for his strategies that were often quite risky and even reckless. Arubah... I can't believe he's got those sinful traits of ours!"

"What else you thought, bearing a godly child with your lowly genes?"

"Hush, you both! I am sure he'll learn to be a bit milder as he grows," Maluma argued. "Let's go to that prison, take him out, and smack him".

"No, let him live there. You see how he has led his actions? It is evident he wanted to get into that prison. I believe every action of his has a certain reason," Roderigo disagreed. "He is powerful enough to break out on his own whenever he desires. Let him be. He should learn his rights and wrongs by himself. When he returns to us as he has promised, we will beat the sense into him".

Indeed, Roderigo seemed to know his son too well – after years, the Star-Rover Prison was blasted to ashes by Arubah and his prisoner underlings, who had grown to love him as a leader, just like he used to gain the benevolence of Sinbad's captives before. The escapees formed a fleet of many ships – all copies of the Shark Tooth – and soon built a base on an uninhabited planet in the Balal Universe – Cyberia. After that, Arubah contacted his mother and urged them to visit him in his base. As they arrived, he declared he wanted to become the Galaxy Pirate Emperor. When the stupefied parents and uncle inquired what he meant, he stated he was to conquer all the homelands of all of his friends – his treasure – and rule them on his own, protecting them from evil conquerors.

"But then you'd be the same evil conqueror. No ruler has ever been loved by their underlings. Every leader gets brought down someday".

"I don't think you're right in that matter, papá. My friends asked me to do this. It was not on my whim. I just want to help them. In prison, I grew to completely solidify my perception – family and friends are the main treasure. Hence, I'll guard my treasure and support each of them".

Maluma promised to support him in all of his endeavours, happy for his code of conduct. Roderigo, on the other hand, continued calling him an idiot. Arubah never got angry upon this because he knew that deep in his heart, father too, loved him more than anything. As for Sinbad, since it was Maluma's son and his beloved nephew, he promised to lend a hand. Arubah asked him to stay for some time since he had an important matter to discuss. When they indeed were left alone in his room in the Cyberia Palace, he inquired:

"So, you too are willing to help me, Uncle?"

"You are Queen Maluma's son. I have been entrusted with her well-being since elder days. Now that she's got her own family, it is indeed my duty to support you all and protect you from the shadows where I've always belonged..."

"Don't say such gloomy things, Uncle! You are a Herminoid – you too carry the light within you, even if you have been corrupted by darkness during birth. I've got a more serious question to pose you – if you are indeed willing to support me you must know that somewhere during my long journey, I will have to oppose Koriel. You must also have understood by now, that whenever something blocks my path, I don't leave it standing".

"I've fully realised the circumstances, and that is yet another reason why I am supporting you – you will help me encounter my brother and bring him down for good, for all those atrocities he's committed. I am responsible for his deeds too, in a sense, so I should be the one to right all wrongs – I shall stop Koriel with my own two hands".

"Oh, you seem to be taking a lot on your shoulders... You realise you might die in the process, right?"

"I am fully aware. I am ready to take risks. Koriel and I are of the same flesh and blood, so I will freely give my life to stop his rampage and clear the sins of us both".

"Oh, Uncle, your divine love and self-sacrifice for both your brother and your cousin, truly impresses me! Alright then, I'll be honoured to have you as a captain on one of my ships. As time passes and we earn more income, we shall build more ships of the same appearance. The Shark Tooth which you and mom have sailed – the original one – will be the biggest, to distinguish it from the others, and will be the sole to carry the crimson diamond in its highest mast. As mother has told me that diamond was made by grandpa's own hands, and attached to the ship when he and grandma blessed you both for your voyage... Now, it shall be my blessing, to carry on your legacy and honour my grandparents with my own deeds".

"Quite ambitious you are, Arubah..." Hinael smiled much in distress to see his nephew carry the magnanimous soul of a Herminoid but the strong urge of achieving greatness, which befitted only the Gaian Worms. It was surely that lowly man's legacy – his father's one. "I doubt only by piracy you can achieve anything grand. Do not forget, Koriel is the Divine Emperor. He has armies of the Reptiloids under his command and a lot of planets in various universes under his rule. He is expanding his territories even now, as we speak".

"I never said I'm going to satisfy myself only by casual piracy, Uncle. You Herminoids possess the greatest minds and even greater powers, yet you are always a little too naïve... You've heard I named myself the Emperor of the Galaxy Pirates, right? Well then, you know why I did it? – Because, unlike your brother, I am fully aware that no ruler can ever get far with only militaristic power. The easiest way to conquer is to crush people's faith and convert them to your own ideology, often portraying it as heroic. I am an ambitious man – I am not just a casual pirate to steal only people's riches. I am an emperor – I shall steal people's hearts, hopes, and faith so that they will eventually have no one but me to turn to. If you put yourself in the role of a saviour, people are sure to follow you, just like a pack of lambs always follows a mighty shepherd. That's a universal truth, and I'm quite talented to take up the role, aren't I, now?"

Beholding him show off his Crimson Ardour with a proud grin, Hinael couldn't help but sigh with a sense of defeat – yes, this child indeed held all the three species in a single body. He, as a Herminoid, was not to begin defining it as either 'good' or 'bad', because he well knew that the good and the bad never existed in this world as standalone features. They were always bound together. In this young child, the universal controversy had most firmly taken place – his actions, speech, thoughts, even gestures and emotions often seemed contradictory, yet never truly contradicted themselves. Even to his powerful Herminoid mind, this mixed-blooded child was a complete enigma. Maybe because he was of his blood too and had enough power to shun him away from the deepest corners of his mind he so zealously guarded as his treasure? One thing he knew, though – when even the most powerful species as a Herminoid could hardly define this child, he should most certainly prove a serious danger lurking in the shadows, waiting for a proper moment to reveal himself and clutch the whole world within his crimson claws.

"Oh, one more thing, Uncle..."

"Hmm? What is it, Aya?"

No matter the fears this child had caused within his heart just now, he could not bring himself to look at him with scorn as he often used to eye all the species below his level. He continued to call him 'Aya', a loving nickname he had given the child since this latter's very birth, after the rules of the Herminese language, doubling the first syllable of a person's name.

"When I have enough powers, I wish to conquer the Earth out of the Reptiloids' and the Radenoids' clutches. It is my fatherland. I often see how papá plays his guitar at night and sorrowfully laments that 'Juanita' song of his earlier days... I wish I could let him sing it back on that marvellous place he calls home. I've seen many planets, and they all have a single kind of surface – like, the Bewbew, the Bakhal land, is lava, magma, and stones; Cyberia, where we are now, is just water and red sand... but the Earth was so rich! No place was the same on the surface of that at-one-glance tiny planet. It stayed in my mind for eternity, after I've seen it just once! I do perceive it as my home, just like I feel deeply connected to the Daluma Asteroid, and mourn the loss of Planet Hermin".

"I understand. We will definitely get our hands on it if you feel so attached to it".

"Attached... Hmph, you truly are a pure Herminoid, Uncle! I despise your code of conduct. Attached! This is what you call 'amor' in human language, Hispanish! Ah, I love papá's language – it does not need those foolish additions of telepathic messages and images to express the whole beauty of the world! It has only spoken words, and the listeners are to imagine everything by themselves. It often leaves ambiguity, of course, but come on, letting one's imagination run loose, and believing we all understand each other – that is pure happiness! I admire humans – they are such deep creatures, fully unpredictable and unstable, which is the exact thing that renders them perfect! Not dull like you Herminoids... I really am relieved my mother too is a mix of two species. It makes her a lot more versatile and interesting than you guys".

"Maybe you are right – if she weren't a strange mix of a Herminoid and a Daluma, she would've never chosen a Gaian Worm to marry..."

He felt the Crimson Ardour grow hotter in the room – Arubah had fired up with the red energy while his eyes shimmered like fiery embers:

"Since we are going to cooperate from now on, Uncle, let me set one thing straight – if I ever again hear you pronounce that atrocious reference in front of me, my mother, or my father, I'll make sure your skull be the next in my collection. Am I clear?"

Hinael made a little step back – the way this child glowed and burned right now reminded him of the fierce Daluma of elder days – the chosen one of their queen, Yuuh Arruroe – Maluma's very own father.

"I apologize, Aya. You are right, he is your father and they are your species. It was rude of me to speak thus about them in your presence".

"Goodie," Arubah brightened in an instant and lost his crimson glow altogether, "Apology accepted! Thanks for understanding, Uncle!"

"I'm glad. So, that's all you wanted to say?"

"Oh, yeah, yeah, there's yet one more thing, good you've reminded me!" Arubah snapped his fingers as if he had indeed remembered something truly important, "Uncle, I will be searching on my own, but I'll let you know too, just in case – if you ever meet a female human who's somehow different, bring her to me, alright?"

"Different? What do you mean? Why would you want a human, and a female, at that?"

"Papá said they're hot! To be honest, I'd want to follow my mom's example – I've just told you how I greatly admire humans, right? I want one for myself, but she should be special – the most special of all... like me, you know? Well, not that she can be a Herminoid or anything, but... something close to that would be dazzling enough. I will treasure her like I do my family and friends. She'll be that crimson diamond of my heart papá so often calls mom. I'll have a daughter with her, and my daughter will be the best legacy to continue as the Galaxy Pirate Empress after those 100 000 earthly-measured-years of mine elapse. Why daughter? – Well, the Galaxy Pirate Emperor will have already existed by then, and implementing an 'Empress' title has a cool ring to it. Ah, I can already see my prosperous future... but let's focus on the moment – after all, time is an illusion. It is a limitation created by our minds. If we stop measuring everything and just enjoy every moment given, life is going to be a lot more exciting. First things first, I've let you know of this dream of mine so that you can cooperate with me in this matter as well. What do you say? Will you do it for your Aya?"

Beholding the young man's puppy eyes and a wide grin, the Herminoid couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head:

"What a mischievous child you are, Aya... Alright, I understand. If I find a girl who might be to your taste, I'll make sure to get her for you".

"Aww, you're so kind! Thank you, Uncle!"

"You're welcome. Well then, I guess I'll be going... I shall begin with my voyages. I've seen a lot in this world, and I'll continue exploring, as well as helping you and your family".

"Of course! But, there's one problem – you said you've forsaken your name long ago, right? Only mom is allowed to call you by the nickname she has given you, and I just refer to you as 'uncle', and yeah, crewmates might refer to you as 'captain', but what the hell should your name be, anyway?"

"I don't really want to have those ridiculous aliases... I'll just go anonymous".

"No, what fun would that be? We are pirates, Uncle, we need something bloody!"

"Leave your bloody thoughts to yourself, child. I am not keen on such extreme violence".

"Yeah, I forgot you were a boring type... Well then, how about something mysterious? Ah, I know! You've traversed all those Seven Universes, right? It should be 'Sinbad'!"

"Sinbad? What is that?"

"It is a guy from human tales. Papá has often narrated those tales to me and read me those books when I was a child_"

"You still are a child".

"Ugh, don't interrupt me! I meant in the deep past, okay? Anyway, what I'm saying is – that Sinbad guy had travelled the Seven Seas, seen a lot of wonders, and become a rich man. Your alias should be Sinbad since you've travelled the Seven Universes. Furthermore, it will spread the fashion of human tales and these brainless alien species will learn that humans are not to be laughed at. Papá will be happy!"

"I have no slightest desire to make your 'papá' happ_"

"You shall obey!"

Seeing the young man's eyes flicker with the ardour once more, Hinael sighed with reluctance:

"Alright, you can call me Sinbad from today on".

"Goodie!"

Thus, he received his alias that quickly became known to the world after his fame had spread. What Arubah predicted indeed happened – everyone learned the name of Sinbad the Sailor, traveller of the Seven Seas, a character of the ancient human tales. Roderigo Alvarez too, grew happy, just like Arubah had assumed he would. Hinael, who had from then on taken up the name 'Sinbad', fully understood that this child was indeed talented enough to prove the worth of the title he had claimed – the Galaxy Pirate Emperor.
