Chapter 36
"Okay, I got Pat's co-ordinates!" Ax declared. "They left Tatooine 'bout three sun turns ago and they're holed up on an oxygen-based planet called Enodia."
"Enodia?" Roman asked, skimming through all the planets he knew in his head. "I thought that was inhabitable."
Ax shrugged. "Musta fixed it up." Xe said. "Pat wouldn't lie ta me. Not after what I got them outa."
"What'd ya do?"
Ax tapped the side of xir nose, grinning. "That would be tellin'." Xe said. "Anyway, it's 'bout four ticks ta Port. It'd be quicker if we went by Light Speed."
"We don't got Light Speed." Virgil said. "I think it were what broke The Osiris in th' first place an' I don't have the type o' technology to fix again, anyway."
Ax shrugged. "Okay. I'll come wi'ya cause Enodia's got a' one-way back ta my stall." Xe shook xir head. "I swear ta Genar, if anythin's stolen, I'm bringin' down the will o' th' skies on everyone there."
"So, four ticks to Port and we're there?" Roman checked, typing the co-ordinates into a hologram. Ax nodded.
"Yup. Big green planet, got three moons. Kinda like E-75 but better." Ax said. "Can't miss it."
Virgil knocked on the wall next to Roman's room. "Come on, Princey!" He called. "We gotta go."
"One second!" Roman sounded a little panicked. Thinking back to Roman pulling Ax into his room a quatre of a sun ago, Virgil supressed a smile.
"Always knew humans made fast work o' thin's like relations but damn." He thought. He kicked the wall.
"Come on, ya two!" He called. "Ax's got a flight to catch an' we got a guide to find, Princey!"
The door to Roman's room opened and Roman stepped out, shouldering his bag. He glared Virgil.
"Wasn't doing anything." He protested dramatically.
Virgil raised an eyebrow but said nothing. "Well, I sincerely hope you got xir comm." He said. "Cause I ain't lettin' ya fly my ship half-way round the galaxy to see Ax again. Speakin' o' which, Ax, we're off!" Virgil called into the room. "Make ya own way out. See ya."
Before Roman could say anything, Virgil grabbed him by the jacket and pulled him down the corridor.
"Uh, rude, much?" Roman asked.
"Be glad it's not by ya ear." Virgil growled.
"Hey, what've I done?"
"Nothin' yet but if ya hurt Ax, I'll make sure not even the Empire find the seven pieces of ya body." Virgil said. Roman stared at him, terrified out of his skin.
"Understood." Roman said quickly. "Please don't kill me."
"I'm not gonna kill ya yet." Virgil said like Roman was being preposterous. "Not after ya saved my ass."
"Virgil, if ya threatenin' another person over me, I swear ta Genar..." Ax didn't finish xir sentence as xe rounded the corner. "An' yes, before ya ask, I got his comm." Ax rolled xir eyes.
"Could you, like, not talk about me when I'm right here?" Roman asked. "I am in the room, you know."
Virgil shook his head. "Whatever."
"It's not really a room, pretty boy." Ax said over the top of Virgil. "Bu' anyway, I suppose this is it?"
"Guess." Virgil shrugged. "An' ya told Pat that we're comin' to see them?"
Ax nodded. "Yeah, they're waitin' in Th' Third Ewok."
"Third Ewok?" Roman repeated in distaste.
"It's a pub, okay?" Ax said. "Only place they'd meet, said it were neutral far them."
"Well, if it works for them, it works for me." Virgil said. He gave Ax a two-fingered salute. "See ya when, Ax."
"That's a promise." Ax told him. Virgil shrugged and left Roman and Ax alone.
"Now what?" Roman asked. Ax shrugged.
"Dunno." Xe admitted. "I'll comm ya, how 'bou'that? An' just maybe, once all this is over, ya can come an' see me."
Roman laughed a little. "I'll need my own ship first." He said. "Like Virge said, he's not letting me fly his ship half-way round the galaxy to see you."
Ax grinned. "It's a date, then?" Xe asked. "See ya again?"
Roman nodded. "Most definitely."
I have... nothing to say about this. Hope you like it.
Bye,
Blaize
