Chapter 25
"We're sure there's no killer plants here?" Virgil asked. Roman nodded.
"Pretty sure." He said. "Ran an organisms scan and everything. It's a proper civilisation, has different languages and cultures from different regions and everything."
"Trade?" Virgil asked, grabbing his Lightsaber and shoving it in his bag.
"Same as T-3.5. Scrap metal, ships, supplies, all that." Roman said. He closed down the hologram and pulled his jacket back over his shoulders.
"Great." Virgil threw his fringe out of his eyes. "From what I can guess, shield'll be shot to shit and bet the landin' slide and legs ain't no different either." He checked his bag again. "Ya got any money?"
Roman laughed quietly. "Do I look like someone who'd carry money?"
Virgil raised an eyebrow at Roman. "Ya look like someone who'd get mugged so I guess not."
"Hey!" Roman exclaimed, offended. Virgil took no notice.
"So, ya don't got no money and I'm skint as ever." He sighed and shrugged. "Guess we'll just have to nick it."
"What, steal?" Roman checked.
"No. I was gonna bargain with the nothin'that we have- Yes, of course stealin', Princey!" Virgil snapped. "Half The Osiris came from stolen parts and I've never been caught yet. Now, come on!"
"There's always a first time for everything." Roman muttered but Virgil was already gone.
They ran into their first bit of trouble almost as soon as they'd left The Osiris.
"Hey, excuse me?" Virgil stopped, sucking his cheeks in, already annoyed. "Excuse me?!"
"I heard ya the first time, what is it?" Virgil asked sharply. An almost bat-like, portly little humanoid zipped over to him. Their tiny, leathery wings flapped so fast they were nothing but two brown blurs.
"You canna not park here." They said. Virgil blinked at them. "You don't understand? You canna not park here!" They yelled.
"Why not?" Virgil asked. Remember to mask the accent and, for the love of Genar, keep calm.
"Cause this'a..." The bat-like humanoid trailed off. "Private. You canna not park here!" They repeated.
Screw being calm.
"Why can't we?" Roman asked from beside Virgil. "There's no sign or anything."
"Princey, shut it." Virgil hissed. "Let me handle this."
The humanoid laughed so hard they nearly fell out of the air. "Canna you not read?!" They asked. They jabbed at a sign in a language neither Virgil nor Roman recognised. "Private! Reserved! So take your... ship and get out of here!"
Definitely screw being calm.
Virgil cracked his knuckles. "You know," he said slowly, "we can actually land here." The humanoid's eyes clouded in confusion before their face went slightly slack. "So I'd suggest you stop worrying about every little thing and leave us alone."
Without a word, the humanoid nodded and flew over the hood of The Osiris. Virgil sighed and pressed the heel of his hand to the bridge of his nose.
"What in God's name was that?" Roman asked.
"That was me reservin' us a space, Princey." Virgil said, shaking his head. "It won't hold forever, though, so we'd better be snappy."
Virgil set off towards the town, Roman following quickly behind. "No, seriously, what was that?" Roman persisted. "I thought only Jedi could do that but you... you're not a Jedi, are you?"
"No." Virgil said curtly. "And I've already told ya how I feel about them so keep the space-wizard talk to a minimum, okay?"
"Okay, okay." Roman said. "Jesus Christ, sorry."
"Ya'd better be." Virgil muttered. He rolled his eyes and sighed. "Look, I'm not a Jedi, okay?" He insisted. "But I can do some of the things they can do. Don't make me one of them, though, got it?"
Roman nodded. "Yep, got it. I mean," he grinned nervously, "I'm not complaining. I've got a Force-user on my side."
Virgil almost stopped at that word. Force. The Force. He needed to learn more about it...
"Ya know about the Force?" He asked. Roman shrugged.
"Only as much as the next Resistance fighter." He said. "I know what's been told in myth and what we know about Luke Skywalker but apart from that..." He shrugged.
Virgil nodded a little. "Tell me about it?"
Hi, sorry I took a little break. I was just super tired but anyway, here's the next chapter. I quite like it.
Bye,
Blaize
