"It is not in the stars that we hold our destiny. It is in ourselves."
"Where are we?" Draco asked, eyes glowing gold in the streetlight's glow.
Harry reminded himself to look at the road, not the gorgeous boy next to him. "My house. Is that alright?"
"It's perfect."
Harry blushed, and stopped the car, putting it in park. "Let's go. My mom's making enchiladas tonight."
Harry pushed open the door. "Mom, I'm home! And I brought a... date."
A stunning woman with red hair and green eyes stepped out of the kitchen, a charming smile on her face that only grew wider when she saw Draco.
Lily wrapped Harry in a hug first, and turned to Draco. "May I hug you, or would you not be comfortable with that?"
Draco awkwardly opened his arms, and Lily smiled, pulling him into a hug.
"I'm Lily," she said warmly as she pulled away. "And you are?"
"Draco Malfoy."
She grinned even more. "Would your father be Lucius?"
Draco nodded.
"I went to school with him. It's lovely to meet you. Dinner will be ready in a bit."
She disappeared back into the kitchen, and Harry smiled at Draco's shocked expression.
"Small town," he murmured. "C'mon, let's sit down."
"Harry!" came a shout. A little girl with red hair and green eyes shot toward him, wrapping arms tightly around his neck.
"Hey, Amelia," Harry laughed, lifting the girl and spinning her in a quick circle. "How was your day?"
"Isabella gave me her ice cream cone! She doesn't like chocolate, who doesn't like chocolate? Anyways, I got ice cream and who are you?"
Brown eyes were now staring at Draco, who blinked several times.
"I'm Draco," he said sweetly. "Hello, Amelia, I've heard so much about you."
Harry raised his eyebrows at the blatant lie.
"Like what?" Amelia asked, starting to wiggle around in Harry's arms.
"I heard you're secretly a princess," Draco pretend-whispered.
Amelia's face burst into a smile. "Only sometimes," she whispered back conspiratorially. "Sometimes I'm a prince."
"Where's your crown?" Draco asked, covering his shock well.
"I'll go get it!" she shouted, wiggling out of Harry's arms and dashing off.
"It's called genderfluid, I guess," Harry said. "Or maybe she's going through a phase. We don't really know, or care. We just call her whatever she'd like."
Draco nodded, seemingly in thought as he studied their dining room.
"Here it is!" Amelia shouted, running back into the room with a plastic tiara in one hand and a plastic crown in the other. She clumsily put the tiara on her head and outstretched the crown to Harry, who grinned and placed it on his own head.
"You make a stunning princess," Draco told Amelia warmly. She beamed and ran into the kitchen to show her mother. "And Harry, you make a wonderful prince."
Harry blushed. Before he could respond, Lily stepped out of the kitchen with a large plate on one arm and Amelia in the other.
She carefully set it down. "Dinner!" she shouted, and set Amelia in a chair.
Footsteps pounded down the steps. A boy was the first one to pop out, with messy black hair and brown eyes. He stumbled on the last step, before straightening and zeroing his eyes in on Draco.
Another man followed after him, with similar features and an older appearance. He too stopped at the sight of Draco.
"Dad, Will, this is Draco, my... date, I guess," Harry laughed. "Draco, this is my older brother Will and my dad."
"Pleasure to meet you," James said pleasantly, sitting down. "It looks amazing, Lils. Not as amazing as you, but close."
"Shut up," Lily laughed, softly smacking James on the back of the head.
Will raised one eyebrow at Draco's presence, but simply gave him an unsure smile and sat down.
Harry took Draco's hand and gently tugged him down into one of the chairs before sitting down next to him.
Draco smiled slightly, and the boys remained holding hands throughout their meal.
As soon as they finished, Harry released Draco's hand to collect the plates and put them in the sink. Draco joined him and collected the glasses to put them in the sink as well.
Will leaned against the doorframe, studying them for a moment, before he walked up to Harry.
"I'll do the dishes, go hang out with your boyfriend," he murmured. Both Draco and Harry blushed.
"He's not my boyfriend-" Harry protested, but Will cut him off.
"I'm being a nice brother for once, take it or leave it, loverboy."
Harry blushed even more, but him and Draco exited the kitchen.
"Are we going to your room?" Draco asked as Harry lead him up the stairs.
"Not exactly."
Draco frowned at that, but didn't respond.
Harry lifted his windowpane, and swung his body out, pulling himself up with his hands.
"How the fuck-?" Draco whispered.
"It's easy, come on. I'll hold your hands if you want." Harry's voice was teasing, but he hoped Draco would take him up on it.
There was a pause, and then pale fingers curled around the edge of the roof, and Draco pulled himself up next to Harry.
"Fabulous. Ten out of ten," Harry teased. Draco lightly pushed his shoulder, laughing.
"Shut up."
Harry grinned, scooting over and laying back against the roof. Draco studied him for a moment, before copying him.
"What are we doing?"
"Watching the stars."
Draco was quiet. After a few beats of silence, he reached out and laced his fingers with Harry's.
Neither boy said anything after that, afraid to break the peace.
"Harry, would you go to homecoming with me?"
"Yes, of course."
"Lovely."
