III

Harry sat at his desk, Y/n stood next to him, and they listened to the audio coming from the tiny microphone that Harry put on Eggsy. They heard Eggsy's mother beg for him to go before her boyfriend started to rough him up.

"No, please, don't hurt him!" His mother yelled.

There was a crash. "Fuck off! Get the fuck away with ya! Shut the fuck up!" Dean yelled. "Who was with you in that fucking pub? I wanna know the name of the geezer and that bitch you was with!"

"I wasn't with no one!" Eggsy denied.

There was a smack. "Who were they?"

"I don't know what you're on about!"

Another smack. "Who were they?"

"I don't know who you're fucking on about!"

He hit Eggsy a third time. "I wanna know their fucking names!"

"I don't know who you're fucking on about!" Eggsy screamed.

"Dad." Y/n said, her brow knit in worry.

"Almost." Harry replied.

"You listen to me." Dean said. "I want to know who you was with in that pub. Do you understand? I want to know their fucking names! Because, I swear, I'll rip your head off! Tell me!"

"I don't know what you're fucking on about!" Eggsy continued to deny.

"Just tell him, Eggsy!" His mother begged.

There was a metallic scrape and she screamed. "Fuck off! Fuck off, Michelle!" Dean yelled. "I could kill you right now," he said to Eggsy, "and no one in the whole world will notice!"

"But I would." Harry spoke up using the speakers in Eggsy's house to talk. "I have enough evidence on your activities to have you locked up for the rest of your life, Mr. Dean Anthony Baker."

"What the fuck?" Dean yelled, confused.

"So I suggest you leave the boy alone or I shall be forced to deliver it to the proper authorities." There was a small clank as Dean threw the knife aside. "Eggsy, meet me at the tailor I told you about."

They heard Eggsy leave his place quickly before Harry closed the computer. Y/n sighed and rubbed her face. "I really hate guys like that." She said.

"I know, dear. I do as well."

"Alright, I've got to go now Dad. I've got to help Merlin prepare for the candidates. Try not to be late again." She gave him a teasing smile and he just shook his head with a smile of his own.

"Goodbye, Y/n."

"Goodbye, Dad." She gave him a kiss on the cheek before putting on her suit jacket and leaving. Harry sat at his desk for a few more moments before putting on his own suit jacket and made his way to the tailor shop.

As night begins to fall Eggsy walks up to the front of the Kingsman tailor shop. He looked at the suits in the window before going inside and into the sitting room where Harry sits by the fire, a glass of amber liquid in his hand.

"I've never met a tailor before." Eggsy starts. "But I know you and your daughter ain't one."

Harry takes the last sip of his drink before standing. "Come with me." He sets his glass down and leads Eggsy into a fitting room. Eggsy hesitates outside of the door. "Come on in." Harry encourages. Eggsy slowly walks in and stands in front of the triple mirror, Harry stands to his left just behind him. "What do you see?"

"Someone who wants to know what the fuck is going on."

"I see a young man with potential. A young man who is loyal. Who can do as he's asked. And who wants to do something good with his life. Did you see the film Trading Places?"

Eggsy shakes his head. "No."

"How about Nikita?" He shakes his head again. "Pretty Woman?" Eggsy squints his eyes in confusion. "All right. My point is, that the lack of a silver spoon has put you on a certain path, but you needn't stay on it. If you're prepared to adapt and learn, you can transform."

"Oh, like in My Fair Lady." He says with a smile.

"Well, you're full of surprises. Yes, like My Fair Lady. Only, in this case, I'm offering you the opportunity to become a Kingsman."

"A tailor?"

"A Kingsman agent."

"Like a spy?"

"Of sorts." Eggsy scoffs with a little smile. "Interested?"

"You think I've got anything to lose?"

Harry steps around Eggsy and puts his hand on the mirror. His hand is scanned and mechanics move as the room starts to move down like a lift. "Since 1849, Kingsman tailors have clothed the world's most powerful individuals. By 1919, a great number of them had lost their heirs to World War One. That meant a lot of money going uninherited. And a lot of powerful men with the desire to preserve peace and protect life. Our founders realized they could channel that wealth and influence for the greater good. And so began our other venture. An independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion. Above the politics and bureaucracy that undermine the integrity of government-run spy organizations. The suit is a modern gentleman's armor. And the Kingsman agents are the new knights."

"How deep does this fucking thing go?" Eggsy asked.

"Deep enough." Finally they come to a stop in front of an opening that leads to a cylindrical like train compartment. Harry and Eggsy sit across from each other in two of the four seats. The door slides closed and they speed off all the way to the Kingsman HQ. Once the door opens again Eggsy looks around the new room. "Shit, we're late." They get out and walk to a large window that looks into a massive underground hangar, filled with various modes of transportation. Eggsy looks at it in awe. Harry stands next to him and looks at his face. "Your father had the same look. As did I and my daughter." He moves away to a door on the side. "Come on." They walk down a hallway and find Merlin and Y/n.

"Galahad." Merlin greets.

"My code name." Harry says to Eggsy.

"Late again, sir." Y/n says with a smile.

Harry ignores her and looks at Eggsy. "Good luck."

"In you go." Y/n gestures to the room in front of them and Eggsy goes in with one last glance at Y/n. Inside the room beds line the walls with a multi shower and toilets at the far end of the room. Eight other well dressed recruits, two girls and six boys, stand in the middle of the room, conversing, until Eggsy came in.

"Fall in." Y/n's voice comes from behind Eggsy and he stands with the rest of the recruits, hands behind their backs, standing at attention.

"Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Merlin. This is Percival. You are about to embark on what is probably the most dangerous job interview in the world. One of you, and only one of you, will become the next Lancelot."

Their eyes follow Y/n as she walks to one of the beds and picks up the green bag at the foot of the bed. "Can anybody tell me what this is?" She asks. Everyone but Eggsy raises their hand and he looks at them. She points to the boy in the middle. "Yes?"

"Body bag, ma'am." He says.

"Correct, Charlie, isn't it?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Good." Eggsy looks at Charlie who smirks at him. Y/n stands next to Merlin again. "In a moment, you will each collect a body bag. You will write your name on that bag. You will write the details of your next of kin on that bag."

"This represents the acknowledgement of the risks that you are about to face, as well as your agreement to strict confidentiality." Merlin continues. "Which, incidentally, if you break, will result in you and your next of kin being in that bag." Eggsy looks between the two agents and the recruits very unsure about the seriousness of everything.

"Is that understood?" Y/n asks. She gets a nod from them. "Excellent. Fall out." She looks at Eggsy and gives him a small reassuring smile, knowing that he's a little out of his element, before following Merlin out of the room.

The recruits spread out and go to the beds they claimed. Eggsy gets one next to a light brown haired girl. She turns to him and holds her hand out to him. "Roxanne, but call me Roxy."

He shook her hand. "I'm Eggsy."

"Eggy?"

"No Eggsy." He corrects.

"Eggy?" Eggsy turns and faces the boy named Charlie who comes up to him. "Where did they dig you up?"

"You know we're not allowed to discuss who proposed us." Roxy says.

"No need to bite his head off." A blonde boy said walking up next to Charlie. "Charlie's only making conversation, right, Charlie? I'm Digby." He introduced himself offering a hand.

Eggsy shook it. "Digby."

Another boy comes up on the other side of Charlie. "Eggy, this is Rufus. Rufus, Eggy." Rufus shakes Eggsy's hand.

"So, Eggy, are you Oxford or Cambridge?" Rufus asks.

Eggsy shakes his head. "Neither."

"St. Andrew's?" Charlie asks.

"Durham?" Digby asks.

"No, wait, I think we may have met." Rufus says. "Did you serve me McDonald's in Winchester service station?"

Eggsy folds his arms. "No, but if I had, I'd have given you an extra helping of secret sauce."

"It's definitely St. Andrew's." Charlie says.

Eggsy scoffs a laugh and turns. "Just ignore them." Roxy says as the three boys walk away.

"Do you need a pen?" The other girl comes up to the two.

"Cheers." He says.

"Amelia, isn't it?" Roxy asks and Amelia nods. "Amelia, Eggsy."

"Hi, Eggsy." She offers her hand and they shake. "Don't take any notice of those guys."

"That's what I told him." Amelia leaves and Eggsy looks at the body bag. Roxy notices. "It's just scare tactics. Classic Army technique. No one's going to die."

The three boys laugh and glance at Eggsy as he looks at them. "Shame." He says jokingly once he faces Roxy again.
