Sameeksha came back home and threw her bag on the bed. Her phone starte buzzing, it was the Instagram guy. She opened the chat.

Abhilove : Yaar pakao mat, vese hi mood kharab hai

User004 : Kya ho gaya?

Abhilove : Aaj college geyi thi

User004 : And...?

Abhilove : Abhishek Sharma se mili 😭

User004 : Kon Abhishek Sharma?

Abhilove : Abey yaar kitne Abhishek Sharma ko jaanti hu me?

Suddenly the user went offline, he read the message but didn't reply her.

Karan and Devaki sat on the ground in a shelter home. It was midnight, the elephants were sleeping. "Ab ham poori raat ese hi bethe rahenge?" She asked, "mujhe adaat hai, tum apna dekh lo" He said.

"Mujhe neend aa geyi to uthaa dena. Mujhe neend j..." She was saying, "jaldi aa jaati hai, jaanta hu. Tumhari koi aadat nhi badli" He said looking at her. She took a deep breath, "purani baate beech me laana zaruri hai?" She asked, "Devaki aakhir kya galati hui hai mujhse?" He asked.

She looked at him with teary eyes, "25th June 2014, raat ke 11:40. Kaha the tum?" She asked. He started thinking, "Cambridge me tumhare birthday se ek din pehle" He said. "Me kucch kaam me busy tha" He said.

"Kaha busy the? Nivi ke saath dance karne me? Right?" She asked. "Wait. Tumhe kese pata?" He asked, she smiled.

"Kyu ki me paaglo jese tumhe poore campus me dhoondh rahi thi, taaki sharp 12 apna birthday tumhare saath manaa saku" She said and her voice started changing, "Animal Behaviour me hamari Masters khatam ho chuki thi, apne birthday ke din mujhe India ke lie wapas nikalna tha, to socha birthday night tumhare saath spend karungi. But you were busy with Nivi" She cried.

Karan closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He opened his phone and played a track. Devaki guessed the song, it was Samjhaawan from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

He stood up, she looked at him. He forwaded his hand, "kya?" She asked. He looked at his hand, asking her to place her hand on his. She looked away, he held her hand and pulled her, making her stand up. 

With his left hand, he held her right hand and placed his right hand on her hip. They started dancing on the song, he kept looking in her eyes. She quietly let him take control.

He performed all the steps smoothly. From the most basic ones to the complex steps, from turning her to hugging her from the back. He suddenly pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her waist. The song finished.

"Me itne saalo sochta raha pata nhi mujhse kya galati hui hai, har din tumhara wait kia mene. Socha shayad tum naraaz ho, ya tumhe kucch ho na gaya ho" He said looking in her eyes, "tumne mujhe Nivi ke saath dekhke yeh soch lia ke mene tumhe uske lie ditch kia hai. Well done Devaki! Sahi pyaar nibhaaya hai tumhe" He said.

Devaki was confused and wanted to push him away, but something inside her was asking her to stay there and keep listening to him. 

"Devaki tumne yeh nhi socha ke Nivi college ki dance team ki leader thi, to shayad uss raat ham itne kareeb iss lie the kyu ki woh mujhe dance sikhaa rhi thi?" He asked, "jis ladki ki wajah se hamare beech itni ladaiya hui, aadhi raat me uss ladki ki baaho me baahe daalke khada rahunga me?" He asked.

"Itna bhi dimaag nhi tha tum'me ke ek baar mujhse pooch leti ke me Nivi ke saath kya kar raha tha? Nhi. Seedha flight pakadke, bina batae India aa geyi" He said finally leaving her. 

"Mene itni mushkil se Nivi ko manaya tha mujhe ek couple dance sikhaane ko, taaki tumhare birthday pe tumhe woh gift saku, tumne sab barbaad kar dia Devaki!" He said crying.

Devaki finally understood that what Karan was saying made sense. That night Nivi and Karan were standing close to each other in the dance hall. A song was playing in the background, they must have been preparing a performance like Karan said.

She realised her mistake, she should have talked to Karan before leaving for India. All those years she thought he was wrong, but the one that misunderstood and broke their relationship was Devaki herself.
