Prologue
The soft sound of waves lapping at the beach seemed to be one of the various soft sounds. The soft cooing of wild Pokémon in the forest might be heard if one listened closely, the small clicking of a Krabby clipping its claws as it scuttled by, the rustle sounds of a tall Exeggutor as it waved it leaves, reaching out for more sunlight.
Lazy snores could be heard from the sleeping Slowpokes and Slowbros, as they basked on the white sand in the afternoon sun. Hibiscus flowers bloomed along the edge of the forest, a small Flabébé looking over them with curious eyes.
The small, soft pitter-patter of running footsteps made a small Pidgey look up. Its keen eyes blink in confusion as it saw two small human children ran by.
"Galos, wait up!"
One was a young boy, his hair was a light blue-purple. Along the ends were darker in color, softly curved as it went to the side slightly. His large, rounded dazzling green eyes quivered, a small ring of yellow in his irises. A fearful look was on his pale, freckled face.
He wore a slightly dirty, tattered, tan shirt. His brown pants, ripped and scraped, was also dirty and strained. They both wore no shoes and their feet was covered in cuts.
"Pidgey..." the small bird flapped its small wings, fluttering in the air, flying away from them. The rocks crunched softly under their retreating footsteps, only adding to their cuts.
"Galos!" cried out a high pitched voice. The boy turned finally, looking to the girl. She wore a dirty and stained light pink dress. The young girl had long, bright blond hair, a pair of green eyes, matching it beautifully. Galos, the boy, looked to her.
"Ramiel," he staggered a bit, "come on, we have to find a way-"
"Galos, stop and listen to me!" the boy looked to her, trying to steady his frantic breathing. Ramiel's eyes started to become cloudy.
"Stop it. Galos, just... just stop. We can't leave," she spoke, her voice beginning to quiver, "Galos, no one will see us here. No one is coming to get us."
Galos' breath got quicker. "No! They'll come back, they have to! Mother and father will find me. Mr. and Mrs. Kellpie will be with them, and then we'll all be together."
Ramiel watched as the boy slowly became teary eyed. "Right?" He asked with a choked voice.
Ramiel looked to him, before sadly shaking her head.
"Galos, didn't you see?" she asked. Galos started to tremble, before taking a shaky breath.
"I... I did," he said in a sad voice, gripping his arm.
Ramiel stepped closer to him until he was within her reach. She grabbed his arm, and pulled him towards her, hugging him tightly.
His eyes widen and his breath hitched. After a moment or two, did he return the hug. Galos buried his nose and face in her bright blond hair, wet tears going down his cheeks. The two of them stood there for what felt like hours, just listening to the waves and cooing of the Pokémon around them as Galos softly sobbed.
Suddenly Ramiel felt something brush against her legs, and looked down. There was a small lion cub like Pokémon. The cub was a light black and light tan, a small red-orange button nose, and large grey eyes. On its head was a small tuft of fire, giving it a small mohawk it seemed like.
"Leo," it mewed. Ramiel looked at it curiously and crouched down, the small creature stepped back, watching as she reached out to it. The small cub leaned forward and sniffed her hand, and stood still for a just a second, as though judging her.
Finally, it nuzzled her, wrapping its paws around her arm, holding her hand there. Ramiel smiled, now unable to retrieve her hand.
"We need to go, little one. I'm sure you're parents are wondering where you are," she said, finally untangling her arm from its paws.
The small lion cub gave a small mew before turning around, starting to make its way to where ever it came from. Once on the banks, it turned, letting out a small squeak, "Litleo!"
Galos blinked in confusion, giving on last sniffle, before he seemed to come up with an answer.
"It wants us to follow it," he said. Ramiel looked to him, giving him a small nod. They carefully stepped over a few of the sharper rocks, and onto the sandy banks.
"Litleo," it mumbled, before making its way through the bushes. The two kids followed it for hours, past a stream, down a small, yet sharp, drop, and thought many trees.
"Where are we even going?" Galos asked. The cub looked back, giving another squeak as an answer.
"It would be much more helpful if we could actually understand it," Ramiel whispered under her breath. Galos gave a nod.
"Yeah, but we can't, so all we can really do is trust it," he explained, before pushing various vines out of his way.
Litleo suddenly let out a happy mew, running through a bush before calling them over. Ramiel and Galos looked to each other with confused eyes before following through the small cub.
They pushed aside the tall bramble, careful to not get pricked by the thorns. Galos squeezed in first, before helping turning and helping Ramiel though the tight opening.
Litleo came up to them, and tugged on Galos' pants leg. The two looked up, before letting out a small gasp of awe. All around them was what seemed like a pride of lions.
A few females either stood at attention by their sudden appearance, or laid down, staring at them. A few retreated into a den, a few Litleos following them.
The two looked on at the pride, a bit taken back. The Pokémon looked onto them with confused, yet intrigued, eyes, seeming to softly mutter amongst themselves.
Galos went to speak, before a loud roar was heard. A large lion leaped out, a mane of fire around its neck. It had wide, muscular shoulders and paws, piercing grey eyes, and had the same coloring as Litleo.
"Pyroar..." the two looked on with a mixture of both awe and fear. The lion came over, standing tall and regal like.
"Roar... pyro," it grumbled, before looking down to Litleo, who was trying to get its attention by nipping at its tail.
Litleo started to squeak, talking with the other, making gestures as well. Pyroar stared at the cub for a few minutes before snorting, turning its head, grumbling.
"Roar!" a female came over to the sound of its call, looking to the other. The first one, the male it seemed, nodded to the two of them.
"Pyr," he said shortly, before turning and walking away. The two watched as the females surrounded them, nudging them to move along. Galos and Ramiel carefully made their way through the pride, Litleo in between them. Ramiel looked to Galos, a thinking look upon her face.
"Galos, do you think they're letting us stay?" she asked. The indigo haired boy looked to her.
"I think so. They might just be letting us stay here for now until someone comes asked rescues us," he answered. Ramiel looked down to Litleo, whispering, "Is that what's happening?" The cub looked up and nodded its head, letting out a soft, "Leo."
A small smile formed on Ramiel's face. The female Pyroars lead them to a den, nudging them inside. The kids went inside, before the females came in. Two stationed themselves outside, guarding the den. Four females came inside, two in either side of them.
"What are they- h-hey! Stop, that tickles!" Galos starting laugh a bit as the females before to lick him, cleaning the salt water and sand out of his hair. The two next to Ramiel doing the same. As the lionesses cleaned them up, Litleo was also getting pampered, presumably by its mother. Ramiel looked over to the cub.
"Did they accept us or something?" she asked the little lion. The dark gray and tan lion nodded its head, before being flipped over by its mother.
After they got done cleaning them, the lioness Pokémon allowed them to stay and sleep with them, the male standing outside and on guard.
Ramiel was being huddled by cubs, resting with her head on a Pyroar's side as she sleepily held Litleo close.
Galos didn't sleep at all, just looking out of the den, watching the male's mane flicker in the crisp night air. He didn't know how long he watch him; but around the time the moon was at its highest point in the night sky, Pyroar got up, a low growl rumbling in its broad chest.
Galos looked to where the lion was looking at, seeing bushes rustle. Before the young boy could wake up Ramiel, the pride was already under attack by several Pokémon.
