The Guest List
It was like watching poetry in motion. Gabriel Agreste moved around his table placing his tiny little people in the correct places. His 3D printer finally gave him the value of the €3000 price tag by making the most perfect Tomoe Tsurugi and Harry Clown.
He had fully gone to town on this. Each member of the wedding party was dressed in the most perfect, 'one of a kind' Gabriel outfit which he'd created on their tiny, little Chibi bodies. Audrey Bourgeois looking dashing in a black and white two piece suit.
Reaching forwards, Gabriel grabbed his own little Chibi in one hand and Nathalie in the other before holding them in front of each other on the makeshift dance floor. The one which he'd created from a scrap of wood he'd found outside the local florists.
"My dear Nathalie," he began. "Don't you just look amazing in your purple, one of a kind, Gabriel exclusive design complete with boatneck and sheath skirt. Whoever created this must have known exactly what would suit you the best."
"You're too modest, Gabriel," 3D Nathalie giggled, Gabriel changing his voice to a higher pitch as he spoke for his assistant. "You know no one dresses me the way you do. You just know me so well... all of me."
"In that case, M'Lady, how would you feel accompanying me in this dance?" 3D Gabriel bent down in an awkward bow as Gabriel let out a high pitched giggle. .
"I thought you'd never ask," 3D Nathalie responded in an overly manly voice. Gabriel held them together and moved them around in an intricate waltz. Spinning and gliding over the makeshift dance floor and springing over the nails sticking up out of the wood.
"You know Gabriel," 3D Nathalie said, "I haven't stopped thinking about the night of the engagement party. The way you move your hips and roll your body is the most endearing sight I've ever seen. I can't get you out of my mind."
Moving from the table, Gabriel spun around still holding the dolls together. "You have no idea how your words are affecting me. Your aura radiates brighter than the sun, your words pure honey soothing my soul, and your smell—" He began to move the two well dressed Chibis towards each other. The Gabriel model decked out in a fine grey dinner suit complete with candy striped bow tie. He placed Gabriel's nose against Nathalie's hair and sniffed aggressively before moving them apart again. Lost in the moment and eyes glaring unblinking at each other. (Because of course they couldn't blink).
They were close, so close, Gabriel closing his own eyes and puckering his lips as they gravitated closer and closer and closer. "Your smell is so fruity and delicious, I just want to nuzzle into your neck and spread it all over my fa—"
"Father?"
Opening his eyes and dropping the mini Gabriel and Nathalie onto the table, 'normal' Gabriel straightened himself up and placed his hands behind his back.
"Adrien," he coughed. "Come in. I was just —" He couldn't even finish the sentence. He was just what? Making himself and his assistant kiss with dolls he'd created. Not exactly something to admit to his son; however, he had caught Adrien, numerous times, with his Ladybug and Chat Noir dolls in rather compromising positions. Gabriel didn't even realise you could take their costumes off — a conversation for another day.
Adrien stepped in slowly, closing the door behind him and walking to the table. One blond eyebrow reached his hairline as he examined what had been laid out on the table. Reaching forwards, Adrien grabbed the bride, eyebrows pulling down as he examined it between his hands.
"What happened to Marinette?" The model was disfigured and distorted, her face looking like a mix between a gremlin and Dobby. "Why does she look like the woman from Beetlejuice?"
Adrien definitely had a point and Gabriel refused to admit that's what he modelled her on... after all, this was his wedding plan.
"Oh, the machine overheated. I'd left Marinette until last because of the details on her wedding dress."
Gabriel watched as Adrien studied the dress running his thumb over the design and intricate details. The 80's style puffed sleeves and plain dress weren't exactly what Gabriel would dress her in, but he couldn't deny the joy he felt messing around with her little Chibi.
"Yeah, well," Adrien stretched up to massage the back of his neck, "I think Marinette will have different ideas for her wedding gown. This isn't exactly her style."
"Of course. Of course," Gabriel brushed off, thinking maybe next time he'd go for something more vulgar like a bright bubblegum pink with brown stars over the skirt. "So, what did you want to meet about?" Gabriel looked at his watch before back over at his son. "I've got about an hour before my next appointment." (With my new 3D printer — if toy companies weren't making Monarch toys he'd just make his own).
"Yeah! So, basically we've decided on the venue for the wedding and luckily, we've managed to get a date for this year."
Gabriel raised a white, bushy eyebrow, willing Adrien to continue. If his son said they'd decided on the Bourgeois shack he was refusing to turn up. There was no way in hell his son was getting married in a tatty 4* hotel. They had standards to uphold.
"Excellent, excellent. At least that means you won't have time to consider all the ridiculous extras like fireworks and sweet tables."
"While that is true, we just wanted to let you know about the guest list."
Gabriel pushed his glasses back up onto his face. "Never worry my dear boy, I've already sorted the guest list and table plan. You have nothing to worry about."
Gabriel averted Adrien's gaze to the intricate layout on his desk. The tiny tables (the little white things found in pizza boxes) were each surrounded by Paris' most up and coming members of the A class society — himself on top table, of course.
Pleased with himself and his efforts he turned to Adrien, only to see the smile not quite a mirror imagined to his own. What was wrong with this boy? Since dating Marinette, Adrien had turned into a selfish, ungrateful brat! Could he not see the effort that had gone into all this?
"Why is Harry Clown on the top table?" Adrien asked, picking up the miniature version of himself and twisting it in his hand. Oh yes, he'd put extra effort into Adrien's model.
"He's my best friend, he had to be there to support me."
"But on the top table? You're not doing anything for the wedding father. All you need to do is turn up."
Gabriel nodded, choosing to ignore what Adrien had just said because unbeknownst to the boy he would be doing something... a lot to be frank! He was the most important person there after all.
"And why is Mr Banana there?" Adrien pointed to the 'tv' table — complete with that dodgy magician that was once akumatised, Nadja Chamack and a bow tie wearing Mr Banana.
"And what is this?" Adrien lunged forward, picking up the 3D Gabriel and holding it next to the miniature copy of himself. "Why are we wearing the same thing?"
"Your mother would have adored it," Gabriel said off the cuff.
"No she wouldn't! She hated your candy cane cravat. Why do you think she used to pull it off you all the time?"
"I thought she was just being feisty." He shrugged. Did she really dislike it? He stroked his hand over his cravat, a sorrowful feeling landing in his heart until he heard the sound of a happy Adrien.
"This though! This is perfect!" Gabriel watched as Adrien took his phone from his back pocket and snapped a picture at the small 3D Kagami in her bridesmaid dress.
Gabriel may have put most of his time and effort into this dress; all the bridesmaid dresses, in fact. After all, it was one of his last chances to persuade Adrien there were better suitors for him.
"Marinette really wanted something like this. She's looked everywhere, but with the time it's going to take for her to make her own dress she won't be able to get them done. Father, you're the best!" Adrien moved forward wrapping his arms around his father's waist, taking the tall man aback. "I know you've struggled with all this, but the effort you've made here with these dresses... Marinette's going to be so happy."
Just what he wanted. The leech to be happy. "You're welcome," he muttered through clenched teeth, allowing Adrien to nuzzle into him. He prayed that his son wasn't wearing makeup. The stain on his white jacket would be appalling.
"Wait?" Adrien pulled away and moved back towards the table picking up two more Chibi dolls — one in each hand. "What are these?"
Adrien had found the other bridesmaids, each in cohesive dresses to Kagami's and moved them to infront of his face.
Now before anyone gets any ideas, Gabriel had never actually intended for Adrien to see this model, it was more a guilty pleasure of his own. Which is why, when Adrien's neck began to grow a creeping red blob, he wasn't overly surprised.
"Is this some kind of joke? Because if it is, it isn't funny!"
With two new models in his hands, Adrien stared over towards Gabriel causing the older man to gulp. Oh boy!
"I — um — I was just wondering..." Gabriel opened and closed his mouth, suddenly feeling a little parched.
"Wondering... what?" Adrien held the models of Chloé and Lila up to Gabriel's face. The designer was almost trembling with fear and was that sweat running down the back of his head?
Adrien looked positively furious; Gabriel needed to think of a way out of this and quickly. "I — um — I wanted to see what the colour looked like on different hair colourings and I haven't got a picture of Zoé or Rosie so I couldn't make them. These two were the closest in colouring."
Now, Gabriel was never one to brag, but he'd just aced that response. He'd taken his racket and hit the basketball right out of the park hashbrown — winning. He couldn't wait for Adrien to grovel with an apology for the misunderstanding.
"Father? Where's Nino and Félix? You know they're my best men."
"I — they — Félix?"
"Yes, Félix. You two might have some weird shit going on, but myself and Félix have sorted out our differences."
"Language!" Gabriel chimed only for Adrien to keep on talking.
"And Tom and Sabine? Where have you put those?"
"In the kitchen?" Gabriel moved a wall from around the model and there they were — Marinette's parents making something in the kitchen, dressed in their bakery uniforms.
He looked over to Adrien wondering how he would try and twist this one and more importantly how could he not know the names of his future wife's parents? What an amateur!
"And Marinette's grandfather?"
"Well, let's be honest, he's getting a little old, there's a chance..."
"Geez, Father! What the hell is wrong with you?" Adrien picked the bride of Frankenstein up again — aka Marinette — and waved it in Gabriel's face. "This wasn't a mistake was it? You did this to Marinette on purpose. I thought we were past this! I thought you were trying!"
"I did all this, didn't I?" Gabriel directed Adrien's attention back to the sculptured table plan for the wedding. "Anyone and everyone is here."
"We don't want anyone and everyone there. We want a small wedding with our family and closest friends. That's why we're going back to the Northern Lights."
"What?" Gabriel's eyes widened, his fist clenching and coming down full whack on top of Harry Clown's head, bending the model in the most absurd of ways.
"We booked it last night."
"But what about my connections?"
"The only connections we want... Father... is for you to make those bridesmaid dresses." Adrien moved towards the doorway. "We'll send you the details when we get the invitations together."
With that his son had left the room, only for Nathalie to walk in and over to the table. She picked up the 3D model of herself and gave it a look over. Her head tilted as she studied the design.
"I like this, though, I think I'd like a darker colour."
Grabbing the model from her hands, he launched it into the bin, swiftly followed by all the others.
