Chapter 1 : Strange Birthday (Season 1 - Part 1)
(A/n : ??? POV)
(A/n : Year of Events : 2020)
Today is the sixth day of June. A day that most people would find to be similar to any other normal day in their lives, but for me it's a rather special day because it's the day of my birthday.
My nineteenth birthday to be exact.
To be honest with you I never had that many friends in my life. That's mostly because of my cold, inaccessible demeanor and the fact that I'm kinda antisocial when it comes to opening up to others so it's my fault, I guess.
Bullies on the other hand though?
Neither, but I guess that was mostly due to the martial arts lessons I had.
Also, I think that I might have forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Michael Caligo and this is my hero story, but more on that later.
Helen : "Happy birthday dear Michael, happy birthday to you~".
That's my mother, Helen Kalopoulou. She's the person who I value the most in my life since she stayed by my side in all good and bad things that happened to me.
My mom's job is that she works as a surgeon at the hospital of Trikala, the town we live in, but today she took the day off to spend my birthday with me.
My father, Ivan Caligo on the other hand was currently aboard at Romania,on a business trip on behalf of the company he's working at.
His job is that he's an External Relations Manager for a company due to knowing how to speak fluently in six languages, two of them being Romanian and Greek and to his excellent degrees in the external relations management sector. That's mainly the reason as to why he's away from us and the rest of the family most of the time.
A pretty neat set of skills to be fair.
I think that I might have heard my father mention the company's name once before, LeventisTechExpo wasn't it?
The good thing is that the company at least pays him a good amount of money for his work. That's something I can respect.
For better or for worse, little did we both know that things were about to take a... for lack of a better term sharp turn for the worst.
For me mostly.
Me : "Mom, do you mind if I go to the bathroom for a bit?", I asked my mom politely albeit through gritted teeth due to the fact that my head is currently feeling as if millions of needles are being inserted within each individual brain cell.
Helen : "What happened?", she asked me politely, although I could see a look of concern and worry in her eyes and voice
Yeah.... here's the moment where I've forgotten to mention that I'm an only child and that my mom is very overprotective over me.
Just peachy.
Me : "Y-You don't have to mom, I'll be fine", I said to her with a pained smile. I always wanted to be strong for her, to show her that she doesn't have to worry about me so much.
It's not like I'm trying to keep myself distant from her on purpose. It's just I don't wish to bring upon her more stress than she already has with her work and with having to raise me.
Money thankfully never was and never is going to be a major problem in my life. That's mainly thanks to my father's and mom's efforts.
Now I think that's enough of me rambling about myself or about my mother's and father's backstories since I'm currently at the bathroom.
As much as I wanted to do a sarcastic joke along the lines of time flies by fast when you think, but as soon as I was in the bathroom I had fallen to my knees, clutching my head in pain. I gritted my teeth, feeling as if I was about to be knocked out cold by how much pain my body was currently feeling when I realized that changes were happening to my body.
(A/n : Play this music)
My skin's pigmentation was turning more pale than usual and my nails were turning into claws.
My body's muscles was convulsing as a cold sense washed over me.
My teeth - my canines if you want to be more specific about it - were getting longer and sharper, along with my senses since the dark, without lights bathroom seemed to me as bright as if it's lamps were turned on.
Helen : "Michael, are you okay my son?", she asked me politely about it behind the closed door. She was about to open it, until I immediately stood up on my shaky legs and kept the door closed to her.
Me : "Mom, whatever happens to me or you hear from me within the bathroom, don't open the door.", I ordered my mother as two new senses was overwhelming my usual ones. A primal thirst for blood and the smell of my mother's blood from the other side of the door.
I had looked myself at the mirror of the bathroom and saw a more pale, more dark, seemingly villainous reflection to me after the pain had subsided.
My eyes were red like two bright red rubies and my pupils were slit like a snake's whilst my two upper canines, long and pointy were poking slightly through my lips.
Me : "What the hell is happening to me?", I muttered under my breath in shock until I tried to connect all the dots of what was happening to me.
I was a pale skinned, red eyed being that had as secondary traits his pointy teeth, ridiculously sharp claws and an immense thirst for blood.
I was a vampire.
Before I tried to do anything in order to see if what was happening to me was real or a completely messed up lucid terror I could feel my heart plummet to the depths hearing the bathroom door open slowly.
I had looked behind me and saw that my mother had opened the door. A sharp gasp escaping her lips as she was looking at me, her bright blue eyes were wide in horror.
Helen : "M-Mi-Michael... i-is that you my s-son?", she stuttered towards me in fear when my deep red irises locked with her bright blue ones.
Me : "M-Mom...", I said to her with tears in my eyes, taking a step towards her, causing her to take a shaky step away from me in fear.
She was about to go away, run away from me until at one move at the span of time before even a pin could drop on the ground I had managed to grab her by the back of her shirt, pinning her against the wall with my hands on each of her shoulders.
I had outgrown my mother in terms of height since when I was at my seventeenth year of age with her being five foot two and me being at five foot seven at that time and age.
She was happy for my growth, but as it appeared that "accomplishment" of mine was my greater advantage against her right now. That and me not knowing how much stronger did I become after this change.
Helen : "M-Michael let me g-go... i-it's not funny", she said to me, making my heart worsen since I couldn't control my body.
It was moving completely out of my control. I had closed my teary red eyes, not being able to witness what was about to happen.
(A/n : Stop with the previous music and play this one)
Helen : "S-Stay away from me you monster!", she screamed towards me, having my eyes to open wide once again, a hiss similar to an angry feline escaping my gritted teeth at her scream. Her voice appeared louder to me due to my enhanced senses.
I had moved my hands away from her, my body still shaking at her words as I had taken a shaky step away from her.
Monster.
That's right I am a monster.
I couldn't control myself.
I nearly hurt my mother.
I made the only person I didn't want to see sad or scared of me to be terrified of me!!!
Helen : "Michael?", she asked me politely. Just seeing her teary eyed face is enough for me to understand how much I've scared her just a few minutes ago.
I had went to my room my last refuge. The only place that I was at peace with myself and closed the door behind me. Loudly.
I always promise to my mom that I would be strong for her, that I'd never cry in front of her no matter how many soothing words she'd ever said to me or how many hugs she'd ever given me through my life telling me that everything would be okay.
I tried to bottle up my bad emotions, have a stoic "mask" on myself wanting to appear strong for her, but this time it was different.
I've fallen onto my bed, face first onto my pillow, clutching it in my arms as if it was about to be erased from existence and cried loudly on it drenching it in my tears, leaving all those bottled up emotions to go.
I cried and cried on my pillow for what seemed to be hours unending, curled up in a fetal position and tensed badly feeling a petite, feminine hand caressing my head.
(A/n : Stop the previous music and begin this one instead)
Me : "Why did you come to comfort a monster like me?", I asked my mother. My voice devoid from emotions at my words towards her, trying to not cry again, although my breathing was shaky.
Helen : "You're not a monster, Michael.", she said to me sitting close to me on the bed.
Me : "It didn't stop you though from addressing me as one", I said to her, looking at her with my red, puffed up from crying eyes.
Helen : "No matter how many times you're going to change or how different you're going to become you're always going to be my son", she said to me, continuing to caress my back.
Me : "I'm no longer fit to be your son mom, I'm a monster as you called me not too long ago.", I said to her, once again on the verge of tears.
Helen : "I-It was an accident. I-I'd never mean it.", she retorted with a small stutter.
Me : 'Not again', I thought to myself with a small sigh, getting to a sitting position and hugged my mom close to me, my head was close to the crook of her neck.
Me : "* sighs * I know that it was an accident, but look at me. How am I fit to be called your son when I look like..... like this!?
I nearly became a full monster by going to hurt you and on top of it, I look like one as well.", I said to her with tears in my eyes.
Helen :" As I said before no matter how much you change or what form you may take you'll always be my only child.
*backs up so that she could look in her sons eyes* Michael, no matter how terrified, how sad, stressed or however I may feel, you'll always be my son.
You will always mean the world to me no matter what. ", she said to me.
Me :" But what will I do?
What about my lessons?
What about my future?
I can't spend the rest of it locked within our home like I'm some messed up version of Rapunzel?!
Heck I can't even go outside right now since if something as simple as a ray of sunlight sees me, I'll probably end up dead like the vampires in the movies! ", I rambled towards my mom, having her to move her pointer finger closer to my lips, closing my lips.
Helen :" We'll see about how it's going to be later for the rest, but as far as the sun goes I think that I might have a solution. ", she said to me breaking from our hug as she gave me a box.
I looked at the box with my head tilted to the side like a confused puppy as I was examining the present, letting my child like curiosity get the better of me.
How would a gift solve my inability of not being able to walk into the daylight?
That's until I had heard a cute giggle by my side that was coming from none other than my mom, having me to pout childishly towards her.
Me : "Not funny.", I said to her still having a pout at my face at her childish giggle, having my cheeks being puffed up like a puffer fish whilst my bottom lip was poking outwards.
Helen : "Come on, open it up. It's a present from your father.", she said to me with a small smile. My eyes widening at the mention of my father's name as I started to carefully open the present.
Well... who wants scissors to open the present wrappings when you have claws as sharp as mine?
Once I had opened the box, I had seen within it a pair of strange sunglasses. I looked at my mom with a deadpan face.
Is that supposed to be some kind of a funny prank? Because if that's the case, I'm not laughing at all.
Helen : "I know that this may seem like some kind of joke, but I can assure you that it's not.
Your father had told me that those glasses were one of the two pairs given to him by an old friend of his. He said that they are imbued with some short of a spell in order to protect the wearer from the sunlight so he decided to send one of them to you in case you had a similar... for lack of a better term condition as him. ", she explained to me and that's when the imaginary cogs in my brain started spinning once again.
Me :" A condition? Is he a vampire like me? ", I asked her politely, albeit in a careful way.
Helen :" Unfortunately enough yes, but he learned to control it with time to the point that he only needs a drop of blood in order to survive which means that with enough training you could do the same as well", she said to me and a small smile made it's appearance on my face.
I can finally walk in the sun, albeit I'll have to be careful so that no one gets these sunglasses away from me because yeah... the results won't be pretty.
(A/n : To be continued)
A/n : Hello everyone Son Raon here and I present to you the first chapter of my new story G.H.V. : Vampire Chronicles : Sanguis Rex with the title Chapter 1 : Strange Birthday (Season 1 - Part 1).
I really hope that you'll enjoy reading this story since it's my first take on a down to earth, horror hero - well for the first few seasons of the book - or in other words G.H.V's version of Morbius.
If you'd like to learn more about the crossover itself read the other part of the G.H.V books by my good friend Spider10gr he's a new author in a sense that it's his first year in Wattpad and will be one of the authors that I'll be doing a crossover with and most parts of the story and future posts about the crossover will be at his account since G.H.V was his idea.
Now some final things I'll have to say :
A) Yeah, I know that Michael is the same vampire OC that I have made a bio for in my book called Experimental OCs And OC Creation Challenges, but I'll work up the scaling until he reaches to that point, alongside fleshing out the backstory and personality on this book. This means that you know some of the beginning and the ending part of the story, but don't know the in between which will make this book all the more interesting.
B) The G.H.V itself although it's a superhero crossover, it's an acronym for Greek Hero Verse, meaning that the events that'll happen in the story are mostly going to take place in Greece which spoiler alert is the country I'm from.
Anyways, I hope that you'll enjoy reading this book as much as I'm going to enjoy writing it and I'll see you all the next time in another story of mine.
Also Michael - currently - looks like that :
Whilst his mother, Helen looks like that :
As for how his father looks like, I plan on revealing it in the next chapter
Number of words : 2831 Words
Music that I'm currently listening to :
(A/n : First time I find a lofi beat version of a song more beautiful than the original song)
