Hinata threw her phone on her bed and got up walking over to her closet. She pulled out a pair of high waisted jeans and a long sleeved lavender turtleneck. After taking a shower she dressed. She walked downstairs where her family—father, brother and sister— sat comfortably in the living room. Her sister Hanabi sat on the floor in front of the leather sofa Neji and her father sat on. They all faced the television watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

"Hello." Hinata waves at her family as she then turns and heads towards the kitchen. Neji quickly gets up and goes into the kitchen.

"So who is he?" Neji crossed his arms and leaned against the counter, watching as his sister made a bowl of cereal. She looked up at him confused before she went to the fridge for some milk.

"Who is who, Neji?" She asked furrowing her eyebrows as she steadily poured the milk in the bowl.

"Whoever it is you're dressing for." Neji says scanning over Hinata's attire. It was simple, but she did look entirely too cute today just to be lounging around the house, or to be going anywhere with Ezra and the other girls.

Hinata pursed her lips together and went to place the milk back in the fridge before she too leaned on the counter and began eating her Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

"I have no idea who or what you're talking about." Hinata says. "I'm actually going to hang out with the girls."

Neji cocked an eyebrow as a smirk played on his lips.

"Hinata, you're almost eighteen." He sighs. "I know your focus isnt always on your friends and your studies. It's natural, I just wanna know who he is; that's all."

Hinata took in a deep breath. She and Neji always been close, considering that they are two years apart. She wanted to trust him, but Neji knew this person all too well.

"I-if I tell you, promise me you won't freak out." Hinata's eyes traveled up to her brother. Slight worry in them. Neji furrowed his eyebrows and his smile slowly faded.

"I promise." He says.

Again, Hinata took a deep breath.

"I-It's Na-Naruto."

Neji's eyes widened.

"Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze ?!"

"Shhh!!" Hinata eyes the kitchen door hoping her father didnt hear.

Neji looked over his shoulder as well before leaning in closer to Hinata. "Hinata are you crazy?!" He harshly whispers.

"He's not who you think he is." Hinata looks down at the cereal bowl. A soft smile plays on the corners of her lips. "He's actually, really sweet."

Neji snorted. "Him? Sweet?" He scoffed.

"I'm hanging out with him today." Hinata could feel Neji's stern gaze.

"When?" He asked.

"Within the next hour." She replies. Neji sighed.

"I trust your judgement Hinata." He says. "B-but just—"

"I know Neji." Hinata smiles warmly at him. "I know. Besides, Ezra has a thing for Naruto's best friend so."

"Sasuke?" Neji frowned.

"Oh that's right you weren't at the school at the time." Hinata pursed her lips together.

"By what time?"

"Naruto and Sasuke are no longer friends." She says looking him in the eye. "Sasuke started dating Naruto's cousin behind his back for three months and when he found out they fell out."

"So who's his friend now?" Neji asked. "Because it was always Naruto and Sasuke whenever I saw them."

"Kiba, Inuzunka."

Neji shook his head. "Never heard of him."

"Figures." Hinata shrugs. "He was pretty much in the shadows till Junior year when he got on the baseball team."

"Hn." Neji looked down at his hands. "I-I don't want to tell you to stay away from him Hinata."

"Yes you do." She tells him.

"Okay, I do." He nodded slightly. "But I can't. You're not just some child anymore and I can't keep protecting you all the time. So—just—be careful with him Hinata. He's not just some nice guy you can meet on the streets. He's a hoodlum."

"How would you know that Neji?" She cocked an eyebrow at him and tilted her head. "Have you seen him?"

"Not since I graduated and even then he was fighting and that Uchiha would always back him up." Neji frowned remembering those days. "What makes you think he's changed since then?"

"I dunno." Hinata shrugged sarcastically. "Maybe the fact that you haven't been in highschool for two years and maybe he's matured since then?"

Neji looked at her sternly. "Look, I love you Hinata." He says. "Naruto's nothing but a jerk. And what he wants from you isn't good."

Hinata inhaled before looking down at her food. "Then allow me to make that mistake."

"You're right." Neji purses his lips together. "That's what I was intending on doing."

"Hm." Hinata nodded , though her eyes rolled slightly. After finishing her cereal, she placed her bowl in the sink and walked out of the kitchen. She walked back up to her room to find that she had a few messages from Naruto.

"Hello." She says.

Hinata locked her phone and placed it in her bag before grabbing her keys and doing the same. She walked out of her room and down the stairs once more.

"Im leaving." She calls to her family.

"Be safe." Her father called out to her. Hinata walked out and seen Naruto sitting in a Toyota Elantra. She walked to the car and got in. They immediately smiled at one another.

"Hey." He says.

"Hey." She replies. She placed her seatbelt on. "Where to?"

"I was thinking a movie or something." He says. "I—I know people our age usually go at night and all, but then that means waiting in longer lines and all that."

"Oh,no that's fine." Hinata says. "Ezra and I go to the movies sometimes on Tuesdays during the day because tickets are five dollars."

"Really?" Naruto's eyebrows shot up as he put the car in gear.

Hinata nodded. The two of them then sat in silence while Naruto drove. The only thing being heard is the sounds of Maroon 5 playing from the speakers.

"Do you have any siblings Hinata?" He asked making conversation.

"Y-Yes." She replied. "I have an older brother, Neji. And my little sister Hanabi."

"Mom and dad?"

Hinata shook her head. "Just my dad." She says. "My mom died of ovarian cancer when Hanabi was five."

"Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear." Naruto's voice softened. Hearing the sincerity on his voice warmed her heart. She slightly smiled.

"It's fine." She says. "We've all got eachother now and that's all that matters."

"Right."

"What about you?" Hinata asked.

"I have an older brother, Nagato." Naruto replied. "He's currently in his last year of college."

"Did he come down for the holidays?" She asked him.

"Yeah." Naruto sighs. "He and I don't really see eye to eye though."

"How come?"

"Because he's an egotistical jerk." Naruto frowns. "He joined a frat and became completely stupid. Makes me wanna just punch him."

Hinata giggled. "That's just how siblings are sometimes."

Naruto huffed but managed to smirk anyway. The two made it to the movies and They got out the car. Looking over the movie selections they came down to one the both of them agreed on and Naruto paid for the tickets.

"Do you want any popcorn?" Naruto asked her as they wakes towards the concession stand.

"No, I-I don't like pop corn." Hinata blushes slowly. "I'll take some candy and juice though."

Naruto nodded and gave the cashier their order. He got a big tray of nachos just in case Hinata wanted some. They walked in the theater and found some good seats. The movie started and the both of them just enjoyed each others company. Making comments throughout the movie and sometimes yelling at the screen.

When the movie was over, the both of them walked out.

"That was a really good movie." Hinata says as the cool air greets them.

"Yes it was." He says sticking his hands in his pockets. They walked to the car and got in, Naruto driving to a different location.

"Where are we going?" Hinata asked.

"Nowhere in particular." He answers. "I honestly just want to enjoy your company. It's only four-thirty. I-I mean, unless you had other plans?"

"Oh no, I don't." She says quickly. She smiled softly. "Today I'm all yours."

Naruto blushed upon hearing those words and bit down on his bottom lip.

"Have any dreams for the future?" Naruto asked as the two of them walked along the beach.

"Hm, is it bad that I want to be a stay-at-home mom?" Hinata looks over at Naruto who's eyes werenonly focused ahead of them.

"Of course not." He says. "It's what you wanna do right? What about before that though? After highschool."

"Well I wanna go to college and study marine biology." Hinata replies shocking the socks off Naruto.

"What? Really?" He asks. "Then why not do that for a living?!"

"I plan to, but once marriage comes along and children, I wanna stay at home and be there for my husband and kids."

"God bless the man you marry." Naruto says. "Wow, I woulda never guessed Marine Biology."

Hinata blushed before looking at the ocean. It sparkled under the moonlight and the shimmering starts.

"When I was a kid, I always dreamed of being a mermaid." She says. "I don't know why I just had a fascination with aquatic animals but I did. Like, how do they turn water into oxygen? Why do they have gills and not noses to breathe from? I wanna know every species of fish there are or the plants. Both actually." Hinata paused. "I—I'm sorry. I'm rambling."

"No, that's completely fine." Naruto looked at her softly. "I—I was listening. It's comforting to listen to someone ramble on about something their passionate about."

Hinata blushed as their eyes met. A small smile made its way to her face.

"Thank you." She says. "What about you?"

"Eh," Naruto turns and looks ahead of them again. Staring off into the distance. "Well, I want to be professional Baseball player, but my fall back plan is President of The United States."

Hinata snorted slightly at Naruto's joke causing him to smile.

"I'm kidding." He smirks. "I wanted to join the military to be honest."

"Wow, really?"

He nods. "Yeah." He answers. "My grandpa was in the military. A war vet to be precise, he uh, died when I was fifteen. So I wanted to dedicate my life to fighting for my country, even though this country if fullashit, it's my home and I want to protect it and everyone that I care about." 

"That's the sweetest way someone has ever put wanting to join the military." Hinata says smoothly. Naruto chuckles.

"It's true." He says. "I can't find any other reason. Some go for the discipline, some go for the money. So they chose branches that keeps them off the frontlines. I wanna be on the frontlines, defending my home till my very last breath."

"Are you ever gonna get married?" Hinata asked.

"I—I mean I want to." He answers truthfully. "I wanna have little Uzumaki-Namikaze's running around for the sake of love and reproduction."

"Being in the military means being away from them from time to time." Hinata points out.

"If my wife loves me, she'd know it'd only be to protect my country."

"I'd be terrified if my husband was in the army." Hinata admits. "Regardless of the skilled training, any given day could be his last breath. Wondering if today's the day he comes home and hopfully there isn't two officers knocking on my door saying my husband was killed in the line of duty. That's so nerve wrecking."

Naruto chuckled. "Yeah but lost women dont really think about it that way." He says. "My grandma's excuse as to why she allowed my grandpa into the military was because she was more focused on their child, my dad. She wanted him to have the best life imaginable whether his dad was there or not. When he came home was the best feeling for both of them. Which made the both of them cherish it even more when he got an Honorary Discharge when he retired. So he spent everyday, everymoment with his family and they were happy."

"I bet." Hinata smiled. "Do you already have in your mind how many kids you want?"

Naruto chuckled. "I might do like my mom and dad and just have two." He says. "You?"

"I'll take however many I can handle before I say no more."

"Wow, Hinata." Naruto blinked. "You want a really big family don't you?"

She giggled. "I never said that." She says. "You never know, the pain of childbirth could be so excruciating that I end up with one kid just so I wont go through it again."

"And on the flipside of the coin you and your husband could be the new aged John and Kate plus 8." Naruto laughs.

"Of that happens than it can always be octuplets."

Naruto couldn't help but laugh.

"Wow Hinata." He says through his laughs. "You're killing me."

Hinata smiled. Naruto's phone ranged and he quickly took it out his pocket to see who was calling him. Kiba's name flashed across the screen. He answered.

"Kiba I'm busy." He says into the phone.

"Ah, okay call me later." Kiba says in a smug tone making Naruto roll his eyes.

"Yeah whatever."

"Tell Hinata I said Hi." Kiba snickers before hanging up.

"Asshole." Naruto mumbled before stuffing his phone back in his pocket. "Kiba said hi."

"He could've said that in the group chat." Hinata raised an eyebrow. "Does he think this is a date?"

"That's exactly what Kiba thinks." Naruto sighs and shakes his head.

"He's obviously been talking to Ezra." Hinata hums a sigh as well.

"Well we obviously know those two are really made for eachother."

"She's liked him since Junior year." Hinata says.

"Heh, Kiba's definately got her beat." Naruto says laughing.

"He told you he liked her?"

"No, I pretty much guessed it this year but I knew he liked someone for a long time." He says. "He was kind of a dweeb back then so I'm positive nobody knew who he was till Junior year."

Hinata nodded. The two of them continued to talk to one another, laughing, smiling and just enjoying eachothers company. Soon enough though, Naruto dropped Hinata off at home.

"Thank you for today Naruto." Hinata smiled as she unbuckled her seatbelt. "I had a great time hanging out with you."

"Of course." He smiles as well. "We should do this again sometime."

"I'll love that." She says softly. She leaned over and placed a small kiss on his cheek before getting out of the car. "Let me know when you made it home."

"I will." Naruto says feeling the lingering feeling of her lips on his cheek.

Hinata closed the door behind her and walked over to her home. Once inside, she raced up to her room and flopped on her bed.

A date.... She thought. I went on my first date with Naruto. That was definitely a date.

"So how was your date with that pretty girl you told me about?" Kushina asked as her son handed her the keys to the car.

"Woah you went on a date?!" Nagato emerged from the kitchen with a sandwich in one hand and a beer in the other. He smiled at his kid brother. "Did you get a blowjob?"

"We went to the movies and then walked on the beach and talked." Naruto replies as a small blush formed on his lips.

"I dunno." Naruto reached through the railing and took Nagato's beer before taking a swig. Although he is well underaged to be drinking, both Kushina and Minato felt as though they were gonna do it anyway so they allowed him beer at home and hard liquor sometimes on special occassions. To them it showed a sense of responsibility where their children understand their limit to getting too drunk before the time even comes to test those waters. It also builds trust to where the Uzumaki-Namikaze boys never not told their parents anything.

"Fear of rejection maybe?" Naruto rears back on his elbows and stares off into space.

"Just tell her you like her." Karin says. Naruto caught her gaze quickly.

"Why, do you know something?" He cocked an eyebrow. Karin quickly looked away and shook her head. She knew something. She then got up.

"I'm gonna go hang with Sasuke." She says. "See you guys later."

Then she left. Naruto blinked.

"Either she knows Hinata's a naughty girl or you're close to blowing your chance at getting blowed." Nagato says looking at his brother.

"How many times do I have to tell you that isnt how Hinata is?!" Naruto says. "She's a sweet girl who hangs around a group of sarcastically assholish girlfriends. She's smart and funny. Caring. She's not a whore and stop insinuating that she is."

"But I like how we are now. Friends. Maybe one day we can be more, but for right now we're just friends."

"I'd like to meet her one day." Kushina smiles at her youngest son.

Naruto scoffed and shook his head. "Why is it always sexual with you?"

Nagato shrugged. "I mean she sounds cute but c'mon, what really drew you to her?"

"Her eyes." Naruto frowned.

Naruto made it to his room and closed the door. He sat on his bed and looked down at the beer bottle.

She kissed my cheek. He thought. It was definitely a date. The kiss sealed it.
