A/N: Welcome to a AU where the parents of the Backyardigan kids watch their kids play pretend everyday and have their own little conversations while watching their kids play.

These happen during the episodes and usually they are watching the kids from either Pablo, Tyrone or Uniqua's house [since those are the only three that are closest to the backyard.

Quick Note - These are my ideas of the Backyardigans parents and are based on how the child either act or are presented in the show. If this book/crackfic becomes popular then I'll make a separate book for it and take request of episodes for me to put this idea into.

Now, let me introduce you to the parents of the Backyardigans.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Isabella The Penguin

Isabella is half American and half Inuit [who are indigenous people who live in cold places]. As a child she lived in the Artic with her whole family until her parents and her moved to America. There she went to school and became a nurse, for a little while. She fell in love with another Penguin and a few months later, she had her first and only son, Pablo. After having her son, the father peaced out and left, leaving her alone to take care of the baby. Why alone, you might ask? Well, her family wasn't really supportive that Isabella had a baby at the age of 23 and wasn't even married yet. Hence they casted her out with Pablo, alone. Happily, she did have a good father. Her father bought her baby supplies, a car, and a house [the blue house in the show]. He keeps sending her money, even if it's the bare minimum, so that Isabella can still take care of Pablo. Isabella is an amazing Mother to Pablo, but worries about his anxiety issues. Her best friend is Lynn and Tom.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Lynn & Alexander The Moose

Lynn is American, born in New Orlans but raised by her Grandparents. Her parents weren't fit to raise her and hence her grandparents took her in. Her Grandparents were party people, they even ran a bar. When Lynn was old enough to work, she started working in the bar with her Grandparents and even continued running it when they unfortunately passed, due to normal circumstances. Now Alexander is Hispanic, born and raised in Spain by his parents. Alexander, after graduating, moved to New Orlans for the adventure and parties. He met Lynn at the bar and the two hit it off great. And like all the stories go, they fell in love and eventually got married, they were twenty when they got married and seventeen when they met. Lynn had Tyrone when she was 22. Alexander was ecstatic but Lynn was worried. But Alexander was there for her everyday. Unfortunately, they had to move to a different state and moved into an orange house [in the show]. From there, Lynn became best friends with Isabella and Tom while Alexander gets along great with Jacob and Karl.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Tom The Axolotl & Jacob The Pink Fairy Armadillo [which is real, search it up]

Tom is Brazilian, born and raised in Brazil while Jacob is Argentinian, born and raised in Argentina. Hence Tom is Portuguese and Jacob is Hispanic. Tom and Jacob were both raised by great families and met each other through a dating website. They started chatting when they were around fifteen. When both turned eighteen, they moved to America and bought a Pink house [in the show]. They did get odd stares from people for being a homosexual couple but neither of them minded. When they turned 22, they decided to adopt a child [they are married already]. At the adoption center, they saw the most particular baby girl. The baby girl was only a few months old and no one at the adoption center knew what species she was. But Tom and Jacob adored the baby girl and decided to adopt her. After millions of paperwork and checking backgrounds, they were able to take this unique baby home and they named her Uniqua [get the name]. Tom [the taller of the two] is besties with Isabella & Lynn while Jacob [the shorter one of the two] is friends with Alexander, Karl and Minx.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Karl & Opaline The Hippo

Karl is American while Opaline is British. Opaline, since she turned the proper age, has worked for her father's company in Britain. Hence, in the show, Karl is mostly the one taking care of Tasha, while also taking care of his own company. Opaline is mostly traveling between American and Europe for her father's company. But the two make it work. Both of their families spoiled them to pieces and barely payed attention to them. Unfortunately, they do the same to Tasha, whom they had at nineteen [making Tasha the oldest]. Karl is the only one of the parents who actually lived in the yellow house his whole life. Even when his parents moved out to go vacation overseas, he still lived there and its where he is raising Tasha, with Opaline's help [kinda]. Karl works as the CEO of a famous Sock Company [which will make sense in the season 6 episode "For the Love of Socks", where I got this idea from]. While Karl has friends, whom he barley speaks too, Opaline has none due to her moving around so much. Karl is very much disliked by Tom, Isabella and Lynn for spoiling Tasha, usually leading her to have a tantrum or get upset when things don't go her way...especially when she has no one to explain it to her or teach her.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Linda & Minx the Kangaroos

Linda and Minx are both Australian and both childhood friends. Linda works as a nurse while Minx works as a doctor, so you can see the troupe for their relationship. The two started going out and eventually even got married. Minx parents kicked them out of the house when Minx decided that they didn't feel like a boy [their assigned gender] or a female, hence becoming Gender Neutral. Happily for Minx, Linda's parents accepted them with open arms. When Linda became pregnant with Austin, it felt like the worst pregnancy in the entire world. When Austin was born, he had heart and breathing problems right off the bat. So the two were more than worried for their son. When Austin turned 6, they moved to American and into the purple house [in the show]. While Minx would work, Linda would take her son to appointments constantly. Linda became a stay at home mother while Minx worked as a doctor [thank god for work transfers]. Once day, Linda noticed the other kids playing in the backyard and the parents watching [mostly Isabella, Lynn, and Tom]. Linda asked if her son would play with theirs and the three agreed. Austin started playing with the other kids, yet every so often, he needed to go to the doctors for usually weeks on end due to his condition [explaining why he's absent in multiple episodes]. But still, the two love their son and simply wish for the best of him.

Now, with that out of the way, I've decided to make my "Test chapter" based on the first OFFICAL episode of the series [according to the wiki]. The episode being "Pirate Treasure" with the famous son "A Pirate Says Arrr", why this episode? Simply because it's the first episode Austin is introduced other than the two "pilots". That being "Me & My Friends" [the weird live action pilot] and "Nick Digital Pilot" [their first computer animation for the show].

•---------• Episode 1 - Season 1: Pirate Treasure •---------•

Opening in with everything being quiet, as normal as it was. Moving past a blue and orange house before landing on the back door of the pink house. All three houses lead to a big playground outside. The back door to the pink house opened as Uniqua walked out with a huge smile on her face, going to talk to the audience. Another figure walked out, being Tom. Tom stretched and watched his daughter start to yell out pirate sayings. Tom's husband, Jacob, and himself watched Dora The Explorer's Pirate episode. Uniqua adored it and decided that she wanted to play pirates. Tom fixed his jacket as he stepped down the steps of the back door. 

"Tom! Over here!"

Tom looked over to see his best friends, Isabella and Lynn, waving to him. The two sat on the porch of the orange house. Tom smiled and walked over to them, taking a seat at the small table on the porch.

"So, Uniqua also watched that new pirate episode of Dora?" Lynn questioned, leaning her head on her hand.

"Oh, how did you know?" Tom teased with a smirk.

"Funny thing is...our kids did too." Isabella took a sip of her hot chocolate, placing it down before pointing to inside the orange house, where Alexander was getting Pablo and Tyrone ready to play pirates, "Alexander are preparing the two inside."

Tom looked inside the window and chuckled,  "You sure are the lucky one, marrying a fashion designer." He looked at Lynn.

"Oh no, no, no...That boy is lucky to marry me!" Lynn gestured to herself with a righteous smile.

"Preach!" Tom exclaims as the three of them laugh.

The laughter slowly calmed down as they all let out a sigh.

"So...Did you hear?" Isabella questioned.

"Oh! The tea...come on, spill!" Tom scooted in with a cheeky grin.

"Is there ever a time that your NOT in for the tea?" Lynn asked.

Tom took a second to think, "Nope!" He laughed, "But enough of these stalling with horrible questions, spill, Isa, spill!"

"Fine. Fine." Isabella rolled her eyes with a smile, "I heard that two new residents moved into the house across the street, next to Karl and Opaline's..."

"No way, I never thought that house would sell!" Tom looked shocked.

"Apparently its two Kangaroo's and their son." Lynn states.

"Do you think their son is our kids age?" Isabella asked as Tom and Lynn shrugged.

"All I know is that husband is a doctor." Lynn crossed her arms.

"Ugh! The money that man probably gets." Tom shakes his head, "All my husband does for work is fixing cars." The three laugh.

"The correct terminology is Spouse."

The three paused and looked over to the yellow hippo, standing at the bottom of the stairs, Karl.

"Oh great." Tom groaned.

"Karl, what on this side of the earth are you doing here?" Lynn questioned.

"Today is Tasha's day with her mother before Opaline travels back to Europe." Karl states.

"Didn't she come back like...yesterday?" Isabella asks.

"Work calls, now may I sit?" Karl tilts his head to the side.

"Don't you have work to Car-l." Tom chuckles.

Karl rolled his eyes, "I believed you...unconfiscated homosapians would at least make a better entertainment system for my break." Karl walked up the steps and walked to the second to last free seat.

"Oh yes. Please sit down, Karl." Lynn scoffs, "Now, back to the people who moved across the street, how do you know it's not 'husband'?"

"The two wanted to introduce their six year old son to our seven year old daughter." Karl fixed his glasses.

"Oh my sweet crisp apple! Their son is our kids age!" Lynn smiled.

"Well, Pablo is only five so..." Isabella sighed, "But still in the range."

"Maybe we should meet the new neighbors...I mean we were forced to meet Karl." Tom joked as Lynn and Isabella snickered, Karl rolled his eyes.

"Um. Excuse me."

The four looked over to see the point of their discussion looking at them.

"I'm sorry to disturb, but I saw one of your kids playing back here and I was wondering if my little Austin could join her?" The kangaroo woman asked, "It's just, we're new here and I wanted Austin to make some friends while were here."

"Of course! My son and Lynn's son are about to come out and play as well." Isabella smiles, "They love meeting other kids their ages."

"Yeah, just send Austin to my daughter, Uniqua and she'll definitely know how to handle making a new friend." Tom gave a thumbs up.

"They are BIG imaginators." Lynn chuckled.

"Thank you!" The woman turned to her son and smiled, "Okay Austin, go play with her, alright?" She pats her sons head.

"Okay Mom!" Austin smiled before walking over to Uniqua.

Isabella looked at the free chair, "Come! Come!" Isabella gestured to the free chair, "Tell us...everything." The three smiled mischievously as Karl seemed bored.

"Are...you sure?" She asked.

"Of course, girl." Lynn smirked, "If your son is gonna be playing with our kids...you gotta make friends with us."

"Well. My name is Linda." Linda walked up the steps and smiled.

"Ooh! Linda is such a pretty name!" Tom gushed as Linda sat down, "Girl, you are gonna fit in here...just fine."

Usually Chapters will be slightly longer than this and include more comedy than this [plus have more of the character's personalities] but I tried, it was my first time trying this. So if this becomes popular, I'll make a crackfic book of this! :3
