⌜ twenty⌟
a lot of easter eggs
after talking with the older, jisung walked back to the side of the table where his own family is sitting. he was about to wrap his arms around his husband's waist, who seemed to be busy cleaning up the table after the dinner they had in celebration of a nakamoto's birthday, but he was taken aback when the chinese shrugged him off.
tilting his head to the side, he made sure to ask. ❝bae, is everything alright?❞
❝yeah,❞ but that answer states the opposite of how he is acting. ❝why wouldn't it be?❞
it's not that he gets mad easily, but it would always annoy jisung whenever he clearly knows and could see how obviously bothered his lover is. yet, the latter just won't admit to it. ❝chenle, how about you look at me while saying that.❞
that wasn't a question, but the taller was more on demanding him to do it. chenle was far from being scared after hearing his husband's tone changing from a sweet one dropping down to octaves. ❝so you and hansol hyung are talking, huh?❞
if jisung didn't know a shit or two about his lover, then he would have mistaken this as jealousy. however, he knew what was up when the chinese acts like this and giving him that question. ❝look, we were just catching up. it has been a while since we last had a proper conversation. we don't always get to meet because of busy schedule and—❞
❝cut the crap, ji.❞ chenle snapped at him calmly, that's what makes the chinese more scary because he knew what was up. ❝i heard you guys talking about the bodyguards.❞
❝look,❞ grumbling, jisung clicked his tongue as he pinched the bridge of his nose. it was a mistake to even lie his way out of this argument. ❝i know i promised that i would stop from taking part in business like this, but you know their family is in danger. can't i at least help them?❞
❝i'm not pissed at you joining at whatever shit goes on in your life.❞ chenle told him, clearing whatever misunderstanding the two of them are having. ❝i'm concerned because you're getting your ass involved with them. listen, park jisung, it's not only you that will be in danger, and i'm not even worried at what will happen to me. it's our kids that i'm keeping my eye on.❞
he had a point, but it's not like jisung is also not thinking about that. he would always try his best to keep his family out of this dirty business. then again, he did nothing but fail every single time before. just like when he was told to hunt a certain person, he never got to realize that the building he was searching for his is husband's family company and that this wanted man was an employee there. let's just say, it didn't end up well with his task, and it also did not end up very well with chenle getting mad at him for bringing a gun inside the building.
❝whatever you are putting yourself into,❞ lifting his index finger up, the chinese pressed it hard on the taller's chest to slightly push him back. ❝leave jiro and jie out of it.❞
with that being said, chenle gave him one last glare before walking up to their sons that's just playing by the pool side, telling them to get inside and prepare for bed as it was already late for them. jisung had his eyes following his lover, who was guiding their kids back inside the beach house, before noticing a particular someone standing right in front of him with that playful frown on his face— mocking and making fun at him for what just happened.
that made jisung's blood boil, holding himself back from throwing a punch at this person's face. ❝shut it, sungchan.❞
the skyscraper then let out a good laugh, approaching the male and comforting him in a joking manner. ❝marriage life is such a pain in the ass, am i right?❞
having his tongue poke in his inner cheek, jisung was definitely not in the mood to deal with him. and so, he got back like in a childish way. ❝shotaro, sungchan said you're a pain the ass!❞
getting his attention, the said japanese celebrity turned his head towards the two, putting to a halt in helping clean the table up. that statement then genuinely confused him, causing him to mumble. ❝i don't remember switching?❞
that took sungchan by surprised and caused him to slap a hand over this guy's mouth, hissing out a curse, but is more on panicking as to what his lover might misunderstand. ❝you fucking asshole. he might look like a harmless marshmallow, but you're going to get my ass thrown out of the beach house—❞
removing his hand over his mouth, jisung gave him a smirk, knowing that he got back at the latter for making fun of him. ❝jung shakespeare once said, marriage life is such a pain in the ass.❞
uttering a curse at him, sungchan lifted his fist up and lightly punched the man's arm. ❝you're a pain in the ass.❞
jisung was still in the mood teasing him, mocking a gasp. ❝didn't know you bottom, sungchan.❞
❝you're really asking for it—❞ as the taller was about to swing a punch and give the younger the taste of his fist, someone older got in between them and handed him something sharp, startling the two by his presence and also what he's giving.
a knife, and yes, it had to be hansol handing it out like it's nothing to be worried about. ❝here, you two may now kill each other.❞
❝i swear to god, hansol, are you giving them a knife?❞ far from them was taeyong noticing the tension between the three as he was preparing for the dessert that the adults were going to have while their kids were being sent to their rooms.
❝renjun?❞ lifting their heads up from looking down at their phones, the mention of a certain utensil made them remember for their significant other.
which was passing by them to get their empty glasses of wine, clicking his tongue and using this chance to give them a smack. ❝are you calling me a knife?❞
waking up and choosing violence was enough explanation for the two who are now groaning in pain. ❝exactly.❞
❝unless you actually want them to go back to teasing you for being a little spoon?❞ donghyuck's voice then interrupted them, laughing at how his chinese friend glared at him immediately with a look, like he was going to murder someone tonight.
❝you—❞ renjun didn't waste a second to sprint towards the tanned male, who had a bright smile, almost tripping but that didn't stop him from running towards the male.
❝wait, i was just joking!❞ clearly, he was, but he messed with the wrong person. that left donghyuck with no choice but to also speed up, seemingly like he was playing tag with a little spoon that's charging towards him.
well, the fun had to end when he bumped to someone he still wasn't in good terms with.
❝love?❞ donghyuck uttered out with guilt in his tone, hesitant to even face him. yet, they had no choice because they're in this vacation together.
darting his eyes to the tanned male who looked worried, mark took time to scan the backyard and he could see some paying attention to them and the others minding their own business. he then decided to try not being obvious of w0hat's going on between them. and by that, meaning, he didn't want a conversation to prolong. ❝i'll be taking the car tonight, the kids are preparing to go out. it's up to you if you want to tag along or stay here.❞
late night dates outside were one of his favorite things to do, especially with his lover, and donghyuck looked sincerely excited for it.
however, he had to hold back as he knew going with them would only lead to questions from their kids as to why they are being distant towards each other. ❝it's okay, i have to help taeyong hyung clean the party for shiho.❞
hearing his name made the said male turn his head to face them. ❝ah, hyuck, it's alright—❞
❝hyung,❞ that smile he gave forced the older to agree, even though donghyuck shouldn't bother as the yard is almost cleaned. ❝i insist.❞
mark could tell that his lover was trying to keep himself busy for the sake of having a reason not to go. he is also not in the mood to push him into tagging along, he'll just take this opportunity to take a deep breath away and think about what's going on between them. ❝okay, don't forget about your medicine before you go to bed. if, that is, you plan to go to sleep early.❞
❝hm, don't worry. i saw you put it on top of the bedside table so it would be easier for me to see it.❞ donghyuck nodded his head with a smile, not taking too long to look at him as he diverted his eyes somewhere the moment after.
mark noticed this but didn't say anything about it, just leaning forward to place a peck on top of his forehead. ❝bye, i'll take good care of the kids.❞
by now, the both of them had everyone staring, right after taeyong's attention was called. they were not oblivious about the two not in good terms neither are they clueless about the reason being donghyuck hiding a pregnancy result from his husband. though they might know about it, they dared not to tackle on that certain topic as they know very well how sensitive it might be.
not until hansol gathered some guts to say his opinion after seeing mark lee walking back inside the beach house to call the kids. ❝you should have told him in the first place, you don't want to end up being like sicheng and yuta.❞
though his intention in saying that is in the right place, but the way the man formulated his sentence can be misunderstood to some. luckily, everyone got used to how blunt he is and how he can't hold himself back sometimes, and they understood him by it.
but the chinese actor felt the need to speak up for his side, taking a wine to go along with it. ❝in my defense, the thought of yuta not wanting to have a family with me is what's keeping me back from telling him. now, you can't blame me for that, can you? i didn't want rin to grow up knowing that his other father hates him. keeping him a secret was the best option i had.❞
❝why would i not want to have a family with you—❞ yuta was cut off from asking a question when the ceo of an entertainment company butted in.
and since he's the one who knows almost all the beef his artists have between each other, doyoung would oftentimes use the chance he could get to justify their actions. ❝you were head over heels for taeyong, you were so in love with him that you were clueless about sicheng's feelings towards you. remember that night you spent at the bar because you found out taeyong is engaged with jaehyun? please, you don't even know sicheng was the only person who stayed for your drunken ass.❞
❝even after that, you still went running for taeyong.❞ ten continued. even though he hated the lee's guts before, he never went to the point of being desperate to get back to his ex-boyfriend. maybe because he knows his worth, and jaehyun is definitely not worth getting back with. ❝well, at least you didn't go to the point in opposing their wedding, unlike what yukhei did.❞
now, all eyes were on the said man who's sitting down quietly and being fed with dessert, like a baby. the married couple was only having their sweet moment, not until they got involved with this. ❝hey, i have the right to stop the wedding because first, jungwoo and doyoung were only arranged, second, i got married to jungwoo first.❞
that made doyoung snort in a mocking manner. ❝you got married to him by papers, jungwoo and i were about to have our marriage be validated with a wedding.❞
shrugging, yukhei didn't bother arguing as he still has a cake to priorities. ❝i still was the first one to be officially married to him. besides, jungwoo loves me, not you.❞
that made doyoung scoff with a bitter laugh, being reminded of the past. ❝he just met you for two months.❞
seems like it's time for jungwoo to stand up for his own lover. ❝but it only took him two months to understand me, to know me more than anyone else can. meanwhile, two years knowing you and you still don't know that behind my smiles, i'm also hurting.❞
❝enough.❞ a voice then stopped them from getting to a fist fight, seeing that things are starting to heat up.
and unfortunately for doyoung, it just had to be his own husband. which, he knew he had to reason himself out from an awkward night with his petty lover. ❝taeil, it's in the past anyways—❞
❝i know, i'm just dropping this topic before things get worse.❞ the oldest of them there then said, having that plain frown on his face and his eyes staring at the ceo with no emotions. ❝and you should to, because arguing deeper to this only shows how you are still affected from what happened.❞
❝damn,❞ johnny leaned back from his seat as he was immersed in what was going on, not failing to make a comment. ❝are we about to witness their ninth break-up?❞
ten heard that and warned his lover by elbowing him, hushing him down before he could get involved. on the other hand, a certain chinese was looking so lost as he sat there seeing all of this happen. kun had no clue what on earth they were talking about, but it he was able to understand that these probably are what happened in the long run throughout the years which he wasn't part of yet.
❝i'm glad you told me beforehand about this.❞ he then let out a sigh of relief, thanking the thai male beside him.
this looked like a spoiler for him.
❝not everything, but don't look too obvious that you have no clue on what they are talking about. you were there on each one and they would even go to you for a piece of advice whenever they need one.❞ ten explained to him quickly, managing to prevent his friend from exposing himself in front of everyone.
kun's face scrunched at the latter's description. ❝them, coming to me for advice? please, i can't even save my own relationship from my girlfriend just because i just found out about my preferences towards guys.❞
❝ex.. girlfriend.❞ hansol, who was sitting on his other side, then corrected him in a matter of seconds.
that blew his cover up in trying to eavesdrop to their conversation, and that also made the chinese's mood to go down real quick. ❝well, in my time, she is still considered my girlfriend.❞
❝you already broke up with her, kid.❞ the man reminded him, also getting pissed at this kind of treatment he is getting.
taking their eyes away from the ceo and the principal that's arguing in the other side of the table, ten and johnny were the only ones who noticed these two quietly biting one's tail. while the thai male was glad they didn't raise their voices at each other, johnny was living the life hearing all the tea from his friends even after a long time of not seeing them.
raising a brow, kun is unintentionally provoking the older to a quarrel like the others. ❝you don't know, what if in my mind, i planned to get back to her.❞
hansol let out a chuckle, ❝which you can't. we ended up together so that can only mean one thing, you're stuck with me. you can't change anything from that.❞
❝oh, but what if i can?❞ that sounded like a challenge that kun didn't want to do, but his ego and pride said otherwise. ❝what if i wanted to change us?❞
❝every single time we have a reunion or a vacation planned for us to have time for each other, it always ends up with a fight with either of us.❞ xiaojun then said, stopping both doyoung and taeil from having another possible break up. neither of them seemed like to give up and be the one to apologize instead, so he took the risk to stopping them.
neither of everyone, except for ten and johnny, also noticed both hansol and kun glaring at each other.
sighing, taeyong nodded his head, agreeing to what the chinese had said. ❝the last time when we were here for eleven's birthday, yangyang got mad at hendery for not even attending because he's too busy with work. and when we were celebrating jaemin's, jeno's, and renjun's anniversary, we have jungwoo and yukhei arguing over something so simple.❞
as much as xiaojun didn't want to have his own family get involved in it, they were already being mentioned. he'd have to admit though, he was also disappointed during that time. ❝why can't we be just like kun ge and hansol hyung? they look so unbothered every single time.❞
however, the couple being mention now grabbed their attention as kun stood up from his seat and left their gathering to go back inside the beach house.
❝oh,❞ xiaojun gulped at how mad the older chinese looked, putting his eyes at the husband who stayed there while rubbing his temples, looking stressed out. ❝looks like they are also—❞
it didn't take a while for hansol to finally make a decision to catch up and leave them there just to be able to talk his upset lover.
saying that it startled everyone would be an understatement, they were all collectively confused as to what was happening between them. if ever they were also in a fight, then it would be considered as the first in history. because most of the time, would be the both of them that would stop the fight itself.
seeing them also not in good terms just didn't sit right with taeyong. ❝ten, what's going on?❞
❝huh?❞ and of course, it's always ten who has to explain.
❝kid!❞ hansol managed to catch up to him in the living room, but seems like calling him out wasn't enough to stop his tracks. ❝ji-qian kun.❞
who the fuck is that? the chinese was feeling sour and hearing that name just added to the bitter taste.
not putting a halt to his tracks, he continued on dragging his feet up to the stairs. but to his dismay, he was forced to stop when a hand took a tight grip to his wrist and spin him around to face the man that looked like he won't end this night until the two of them gets to talk about what's happening between them.
❝didn't you hear me call out to you?❞ hansol told him, the tone of his voice indicating that he's not in the mood to play any childish games.
meanwhile, kun was also not in the mood dealing boomers who can't seem to get a hint on what's going on already. ❝i heard you, but were you calling me? because the last time i know, i'm qian kun.❞
❝what's wrong with you?❞ the man finally mustered the courage to ask, but he sounded like he was annoyed at how the younger was acting rather than being worried about him. ❝why are you acting like this?❞
❝acting like what?❞ tilting his head to the said, kun let out a mocking laugh because of that question. ❝oh! acting the opposite of what your husband would in this situation?❞
❝i don't—❞ hansol was cut off by the latter who didn't give him the chance to speak as he wanted to get this done already.
❝because we are different, ji hansol.❞ that wasn't supposed to be a threat, but it sounded like that. ❝so, i don't understand what you are trying to point out here.❞
this frustrated the man more. not only because he insisted that he's different from what he was in the future, but it's also stating that he's going to be dropping any responsibilities he has just because he's a different person. ❝don't test me, kun. is this what has been bothering you ever since we got here? you were avoiding me, you would even act like you don't know me sometimes.❞
❝acting?❞ the chinese scoffed before having that keyword processed inside his head. ❝i wasn't acting, hansol. i'm also not avoiding you because in the first place, i don't know you aside from being my husband in the future.❞
❝why do you keep on insisting?❞ but despite of feeling his blood boiling inside, hansol held his temper in and tried to fix this by just talking.
❝how on earth am i insisting when this is who i am?❞ kun said, his voice sounding so forced and broken. ❝i'm just qian kun, not the ji-qian kun you married.❞
❝but you are—❞ once again, he wasn't given the chance to explain his side.
❝i'm still a graduating college student who has plans being thought ahead. and sad to say, you aren't part of it.❞ in a simple matter, this is the best kun can explain it to him. ❝i'm not your husband who's fucking lucky to have you and be with you. the person who would think about you and always include you in every decision they will make.❞
surprisingly, hansol understood where he was going with that. he understood, but he also found it unfair as to how he has to be the only one adjusting to the situation they have right now. there might be times he would slip from his thoughts and think that it's his husband he is with, and maybe that's a mistake he made— but can you really blame him for that?
taking this chance seeing that he's too preoccupied with his thoughts, kun yanked his arm back and began walking away. however, taking another step was put to a stop when the man finally had spoken a word after staying silent for a good minute or two.
❝do you think you're the only one suffering here?❞ instead of sounding mad, hansol seemed tired already.
biting his bottom lip, kun started to shake his head to get himself back to his senses and not to fall for that guilt. ❝don't worry, if it's about sian, i can still pretend to be his parent. that's the least i can do, nothing more and nothing less.❞
with that, the chinese didn't bother waiting for a response, not that he needed one because he knew he'd break down right there on the spot already. he immediately went upstairs, leaving the man alone there in the living room, leaving him broken and confused. yet, with how conflicted he was in his head, he can't seem to go back down and just apologize to him. would an apology matter? it seemed like hansol is mad anyway, so what's the use.
it's probably best if this keeps up until things go back to the way it was.
what kun didn't know. rather than mad, hansol felt incomplete, he felt empty, and because of those, that made him lead to a decision he might regret.
❝hey!❞ huffing, ten managed to catch up with them after making up a reason to the others just so they wouldn't be included in this mess. of course, with the help of doyoung, that is. ❝have you seen kun? and have you talked to him because it looked like—❞
❝you're right, they're different.❞ lifting his head up after having them lowered, hansol's eyes were drowned with emotions until it looked dead, as if he has given up already. ❝what are we waiting for? let's get this over with.❞
