Chapter twenty four
Chapter twenty four
"Thalg Talgeyya!" Judar was the first to attack, sending dragon shaped wind and ice tornadoes at the Elites.
"Speed," Nadiya, the female Elite, waved her arm and a blue glow surrounded her and her team mates. With sudden super-speed, the three avoided the attacks.
"They have power ups too?!" Neah exclaimed. What the hell are these people?! "Har-Harl Rasers!" Neah sent several small balls of fire at Nadiya.
"Deflect," The woman uttered simply. With another wave of her hand, the fire redirected itself into a tree, setting it aflame.
"Shit," Neah glanced around and saw Sinbad and Yunan were fighting Melor, while Judar and Alok fought, the pair destroying most of their surroundings as they ran around.
Nadiya pulled out a pistol, and twirled it in her hand. The gun changed shape as it turned, becoming a large bow coated in fire, "Bow of Flames..."
"How did you do that?!" Neah jumped away as the Elite began shooting.
"We're far more developed than you think," Nadiya spoke, drawing her bow again. The fire covering it didn't affect her at all. "That soldier must have told you, right? That we power our weapons with the magi's souls?"
"Something like that," Neah dodged another flaming arrow.
"There's so much to magic you don't know. It's much more than just manipulating the rukh, it's so much more complicated..." Nadiya explained, "The only one of you filthy magicians that would understand is long gone..."
"And who would that be?" Neah grunted, "Sharrar!" She tried to use the water defence against an arrow. It passed right through the steam wall, nearly hitting the magi.
"Solomon Jehoahaz Abraham," Nadiya answered.
Neah frowned, "Wasn't he from Alma Torran or something?"
"He created this world too," Nadiya shook her head, "you really never paid attention in school, did you?" She continued, "He was the only one who understood how magic really worked."
"Ok, wait, I don't understand, " Neah stopped dodging, "if you like magic so much, why lock away everyone who uses it? If they were too strong, then how are you any better?"
"Haven't you seen how peaceful it is now?" Nadiya didn't lower her bow. "With just us using magic, and the entire world being united, there are no wars. No fighting over power. No one goes hungry, there are no slaves. No one is fallen into depravity, everyone loves their fate. This is the world Solomon wanted. Everyone is equal."
"You think this is what he wanted?!" Neah laughed, "Like hell he'd want all of his djinn locked away and tested on! He created them, and the magicians! That means he wanted this world to have them!" Neah raised her staff, "You guys are seriously fucked up if you think what you're doing is just. Sharrar Baraq!"
Nadiya changed her bow back and grew angry, easily avoiding the water dragons, "What do you know, you brat?!" She backed Neah up so far that the women were on the street beside the park, Neah's back nearly pressed against a building.
"Uh-oh," Alok muttered, jumping away from one of Judar's attacks on another side of the park. "Nadiya's losing it..."
"What are you talking about?" Judar frowned, raising his wand for another attack.
"She's really passionate about her reasons for fighting," Alok watched the woman in the distance with worry. He turned back to Judar, "Why don't we hurry this up? If she kills the djinn she's powering up with, we'll all get in trouble."
Judar huffed, "Whatever. Thalg Al-Salos!"
"Destruction," Nadiya growled, her voice low. The cement below her feet cracked. The cracks tore apart the ground, destroying the foundation of the tall office building beside them.
"Shit shit shit," Neah panicked, knowing what was going to happen. She ran back to the park area as the building began trembling. Pieces of the building began breaking off. Neah noticed a large metal support beam broke loose, falling hundreds of feet. She looked to make sure no one was in the way, and mentally cursed herself when she realized who was in danger of the falling object.
"Sin-!" Neah pushed the king out of the way. Both of them barely made it out before the beam hit the ground with a loud thud.
"Neah?!" Sinbad exclaimed. They were laying on the ground now. Sinbad was in his Focalor equip, Neah panting on his chest.
"You're an idiot," Neah breathed hard. She pushed off of him and looked up, "Oh for fucks sake..." Sinbad sat up and Neah pushed him again, "Move, if you don't want to get killed!" The king followed her gaze and quickly got out of the way. The rest of the building was falling. Debris was everywhere.
Neah ran with him, but quickly stopped as her staff slipped from her grip, "Wait! My staff!"
"Forget about it!" Sinbad insisted, pausing to turn to her. Dust and dirt filled the air, making it hard to breathe. The other magi and Elites were nowhere to be seen. "Neah, come on!"
"One second!" Neah tried to grab her staff, but it was trapped under a large piece of metal. She was getting nowhere just pulling at it.
"Neah!"
The magi could barely hear Sinbad's voice over everything. She tried to run again, forgetting about her staff. Neah was cut off, falling to the ground. She couldn't move. She could barely breath. She heard screaming, but didn't recognize it as her own until the fallen building settled and the foggy air cleared. "Fuck!" Neah groaned. She couldn't feel her lower half at all.
"Well, look what we have here," Neah could only see his upside down, dirt covered, boots, but she knew it was Alok. "Hey, Nadiya! I found her! Squashed like a bug!"
"Hmm. I did more damage than I intended," Nadiya joined Alok, debris crunching under her feet. "Where is Melor?"
"Here!" The black haired Elite ran over. "Woah, looks like you got her, huh?" He looked at Neah. The magi had a large chuck of the building crushing her lower half.
"Neah?! Where are you?!" Judar was shouting in the distance. Sinbad and Yunan were calling as well.
"Judar!" Neah shouted, coughing a bit. She closed her eyes and shouted as loud as she could, "Retreat!"
"Neah-!" Judar stopped running, standing a few feet away from the Elites and Neah,"Ah, shit..." He looked Neah's pitiful condition over.
"Neah- what happened?" Sinbad asked as he and Yunan joined Judar.
"One down, three to go," Alok smirked. He and Melor jumped off the rubble they stood on.
"Guys, retreat!" Neah shouted again.
"We're going to get you out, just hold on a sec-"
"Retreat!" Neah ordered, cutting off Sinbad. They were all upside down to Neah, but she could see they were reluctant. "You need to tell everyone else that we can't take them alone," She continued. "You're not going to get yourselves killed too!" She was pleading at this point. I fucked up...
"Heh, like we're going to let you retreat," Alok laughed. "Light A-"
"Al-Kimia Al-Qadima!" Yunan raised his wand, wearing a determined-but-reluctant expression. The rubble began floating and gathering, it's shape changing. A golden glow surrounded the former building pieces as it moved.
Unsure why the magi cast that spell, but knowing what it did, Sinbad turned to Judar, "Don't let them get to Yunan while he casts that."
"Right," Judar nodded. They didn't have time to disagree.
Sinbad drew his sword and went for Melor, who drew a sword as well. "Sword of Ice!" Melor smiled and frost coated his sword. He ran at Sinbad, who side-stepped him easily.
Meanwhile, Alok sent blizzard-like ice and wind at Judar, "Storm!"
Nadiya stayed beside Neah, watching Yunan's magic closely. After a few minutes he had gathered almost all of the debris- even what was crushing Neah. Not like the female magi could do anything, she couldn't move her legs at all. She didn't dare look to see the damage on her body either.
"Yunan! Are you ready?" Sinbad called to the magi. He and Melor were still fencing, Sinbad not exactly having an advantage.
"Yes, I'm ready," Yunan nodded.
Sinbad smirked and kicked Melor in the stomach when he had an opening, while Judar pushed Alok. The two Elites fell into each other, and Yunan moved his creation so they were inside of it. He'd created a house of sorts, made completely out of concrete. From inside of the box, the Elites yelled, "What the hell is this?! Let us out! Nadiya!"
Nadiya laughed lightly. Neah looked up at her and frowned, Sinbad and the others were reluctantly retreating, "Are you letting them go?" She was supporting herself on her elbows, her stomach screaming in protest.
"I only need you," Nadiya's smile faded and she looked down at the magi, "I can't use you if you're dead, though." She crouched down and picked up Neah. Neah cried out in pain, but she knew there was nothing she could do. She'd die if she tried to escape, and without legs escaping was impossible.
