The whole castle was bustling with excitement, the women were gossiping all around, chattering away with cheerful tones, the men were constantly wearing pace marks into the floorboards, even the children took little moments in their mischief to mummer around rumors.

It's been nearly four months since Law's pregnancy was announced, and since the snow leopard was already pregnant a couple of weeks before that, they were expecting the birth to be any day now, a thought that made it hard to sleep at night.

The cooks never failed to feed the leopard at least a minimal of five times a day, making sure each of their meals were perfectly balanced, containing only the healthiest of vitamins and minerals, the women would always be knitting away in their free time, constructing blankets and clothes for the pups that would be arriving, Law was constantly kept in the infirmary for the arrival of the children and for his own protection.

See Kidd was not the only paranoid person.

The whole pack actually kind of depended on the pack mother's safety now, with the birth of these new pups also came the newborn heirs to the top of the pack, in all technically, the pack's entire future rulers depended on this to come out right.

No pressure at all..right?

Of course, because of this, the poor snow leopard had his fair share of panic attacks as well as the others when the pressure seemed to have gotten too great, the longer the days went by the more stressed out he got, the mother knew such stress would only do more harm than good, but paranoia was his oldest friend, and he just couldn't push away the thoughts that haunted him at night.

What if the babies decided to sneak up on him in the middle of the night, leaving him with no one to help with the delivery? What if he somehow got a miscarriage? What if he wasn't strong enough and the pups died before finally getting out? What if he somehow got hurt and it affected the babies? What if they're not getting enough nutrition in Law's diet and they'll be unhealthy when they come out? What if their umbilical cords choked them? What if both his and Kidd's DNA were uncompatible and resulted in a deformed birth? Law has heard far too many horror stories of deformed birth to feel safe quite yet.

To put it in short, the two future parents were massive wreaks of paranoia and stress, the only thing keeping the two relatively calm was the pack's honest reassurances and Bonney's occasional jokes on male pregnancy.

It was deep in the afternoon when Law recieved another rough kick deep in his gut, the leopard swore he felt something break, "ahh! Shit!" The wolf mockingly cooed at his mate and continued to gently rub his hardly visible large bump, loving the feeling of movement under his finger tips, "s-stop encouraging them to-ahhhhhh!" The wolf paused when the leopard let out a much louder cry of pain.

"H-hey you okay?" Not receiving an answer but a pained groan instead, Kidd immediately went into panic mode while jumping to conclusions.

"oi oi! I think it's happening! Ah-ahhh!" Killer instantly kicked through the door -making it's edges splinter not very professionally- at the sound of the shout and blasted into the room, creating a massive hole as Kidd ran around in circles.

"Kidd! Calm down and help me we gotta-!" Law threw a large book at the beta's blonde head and glared at the two idiots, "it's not fucking happening so calm the fuck down!" Kidd childishly pouted as Killer hissed out a few curse words before leaving through the now busted door.

The redhead noticed how Law's been more upset and distant these past few days and frankly he didn't like it, this was like finding out Law was pregnant all over again, only this time he didn't think the reason was as innocent, so in responce, the alpha shifted into animal form as he snuggled in beside the tan doctor's place on the bed.

"Ya doing alright babe?" Law sighed as he looked outside at the drifting and whirling snowflakes, it was long past mating season and deep into cold winter now.

The surgeon sighed again as he looked back to Kidd's rusty eyes, "winter just reminds me of my home a lot these days" the wolf knew what he meant, he knew about how the white town was destroyed by wandering hunters.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that" Law let out a soft sour chuckle as he scratched the alpha's ears, "you don't have to be, you weren't the one to blame for that massacre" the redhead sensed a secret message within those words and frowned.

Not being able to contain his curiosity he spoke, "..what do you mean? Exactly?" He almost regretted opening his muzzle, feeling some kind of feeling of suspense claw at his gut when Law bitterly grinned, his eyes clouded as flashes of his lonely past ran rampant through his mind and took a soft deep breath.

"...The hunters didn't stumble upon the town by accident" Kidd's blood froze as the atmosphere went deadly silent, the tension was now so thick you could cut it with a knife.

"Kidd-ya, you...you deserve to know" Law shifted around in the bed and got as comfortable as he could to relive his past, "..long ago I lived in the white town with my family, around the age of ten there was an-an...'accident' and my family died in a fire that burned down our home" he emphasized on the word accident and Kidd understood perfectly, how despicable.

"Even at such a young age I knew, it was no accident, but I still didn't know just who did it either, so I grew up cursing the world around me" the redhead nudged Law's hand and the surgeon started petting him to get his mind off of the demons, "a year later I met Cora-san" Law smiled remembering the goofy man he adored, he cared for, he loved even.

"Cora-san became like a father figure to me, even though I was such a lost cause and tried to kill him a number of times, he still cared for me, he fixed my damaged heart.." the feline then curled his lips into a snarl remembering a very sour memory next, "but then soon, I also met his older twin brother, Doflamingo" Law spat the name out like the very poison it was and shivered in imaginary pain.

"When he learned of me he immediately overruled Cora-san and took legal custody of me...he, he did some- unsavorable -things to me..." Kidd wildly snarled the more Law spoke of this man.

This 'Doflamingo' was now on the top of his hit list!

"Cora-san never approved of my treatment but because Doflamingo's rank was higher, there as nothing he could do, one night though, he 'kidnapped' me and whisked me out of there.." Law almost felt tears come to his eyes at his salvation, back then he felt as if Cora was the fairy to whisk him away from reality and into his perfect storybook, "..We were so happy in that little cottage we escaped to.." it was like a fantasy.

Law cringed as he felt his heart slowly tear to shreds once again as the crushing loss replayed in his mind, "but.." Kidd leaned in closer wanting to know more about his mate, plus this story was such a page turner!

"Two years later, Doflamingo hired hunters and guided them to the town, all to find me" Kidd's eyes widened in horror as the truth was finally being revealed to him, Law silently nodded confirming the redhead's doubts and bit his lip as bitter tears threatened to appear.

"To save me, Cora-san hid me in some of the hunter's treasure chests...and was shot right in front of me by Doflamingo himself" Kidd whined out in sadness for his mate, feeling the feline's distress ooze into the air around them through his pores, "after I escaped I traveled the world alone, constantly chased around by psychos.." Kidd looked away in slight shame since he was kinda previously one of those psychos, he did kidnap the feline to get ahold of him after all.

"A year later I met the Strawhats" Law smiled at the memory of meeting his best friends for the first time, the goofballs were of the same kind like Cora, something that always made him feel so familiar with them.

"They welcomed me with open arms and took care of me, unlike others they didn't treat me like a prize to be won or some pretty slut, they treated me like...nakama" Law's smile then turned less innocent with a dangerous gleam making Kidd perk up with an excited expression, "and...when they learned about my past..they helped me...with revenge" Law's voice took a swift dangerous turn and he darkly chuckled.

"With their help we were finally able to defeat him and toss the sorry bastard in jail" Kidd wagged his tail happy to know Law's story had a happy ending after all, "it was quite big you know, the arrest of a huge crime kingpin" Law continued to speak, "you might have heard of it, 'two mystery hero's defeat Joker!'" Kidd choked on the air halfway down his throat when he heard the name, he knew who Joker was, everyone knew who Joker was!

He was like, the kingpin of all the crime on the stinking planet!

"Wait that was you!?"

Law laughed out loud until another swift kick silenced him.

"Ahhh! Tch, yes that was me" Kidd smiled and cuddled deeper into Law's arms with a happy growl, "wow holy shit, I'm so proud of you baby" he was also even more proud of himself for wooing such a big catch for a mate.

Law cooed appreciative compliments into the alpha's ears until a knock was on the door, "Kidd?" Killer's dented mask peaked out of the door and spoke in a gentle voice, "Kidd, it's time for bed" The alpha snorted and scowled at the beta, "do I have to?" he childishly whined.

He gave Kidd what he guessed a dirty glare from under the mask and softly growled in warning, "okay, okay...see you tomorrow honey" Kidd kissed the snow leopard's short midnight hair and smiled at his beautiful mate before disappearing behind the door, watching him go, Law yawned and closed his eyes, quickly falling into a dreamless sleep.

The intruder was silent.

He stealthily sneaked around the halls following the familiar scent...his pet's scent.

Finally reaching the room he slowly opened the door and smiled, there resting under the moonbeams like a wild panther, he was sleeping in all his glory.

His precious Law.

Law's POV

I tiny squeak of a floorboard brought me out of my sleep, fidgeting my muscles as I drowsily fluttered my eyes open, still feeling drowsy I hoarsely sighed and looked towards the creaking door before clearing my voice, a small habit I grew into.

A huge blurry mass was silently sneaking towards me....Kidd-ya?

No..

My heart instantly stopped, stuttering into a terrified hault as a cruel sense of terror overcame all my senses like a hacking bug, my throat suddenly turned against me and tried to choke me, making me panic as my windpipe automatically contracted on itself to try and knock me out from this incomprehensible nightmare.

This had to be a nightmare, he was in jail.

A sickeningly familiar pink feather fell off the intruder's coat and fluttered into the moonlight, landing gracefully onto my pillow without a sound, too innocently I spotted an unapologetic stain of red on the tip of it.

Why am I not waking up? This can't be for real.

With a sickening feeling I swallowed down the gags that I wanted to spew out, only one person had this kind of feather and wore them wherever he went.

He escaped, even worse he found me.

"Fufufufufu, I finally found you my beloved little pet" was the last thing I heard as a chloroform infected handkerchief was shoved into my face, I blanked out without a single scream, feeling nothing but pure fear and dread as a single thought crossed my blurred mind.
