Spring Carnival (Chapter Forty-Nine)
"Everybody have everything?" you asked as you sat in the driver's seat of your car.
"What are we supposed to have?" Foxy snickered from the backseat.
"Wallet, phone . . . Are we forgetting anything?" you wondered.
"Not we: you. And yes, your keys," Foxy told you.
"Right- No, Foxy, you dumbass, they're in the ignition. Anything else?" you mused.
"No- Now let's go!" Foxy griped.
"Okay, okay," you groaned as you turned the key and started the car.
The Spring Carnival was in town, so you and the rest decided to go. Since they've never been to any type of fair, you thought it would be nice if you took them. Freddy turned on the music and you listened to it as you drove.
~ ~ ~ ~
"Here we go," you announced as you parked the car.
"Woah," Baby and Foxy gasped as they stared out the windows.
"Let's go, let's go, let's go!" Bon-Bon exclaimed impatiently.
"Remember, Bon-Bon, stay on Freddy's hand and don't start any trouble," you reminded him as Baby, Ballora, and Foxy, got out of the car.
"Me? Starting trouble? Pfft," Bon-Bon scoffed.
"Stick with each other," you told everyone as you and Freddy stepped out of the car.
"That sounds lame, but okay," Foxy muttered as he looked towards the rides. "Let's go on the rides."
"We have to buy tickets, first," you replied.
"Then, let's go!" Foxy exclaimed as he ran off toward the ticket booths.
"Hey, wait! Foxy!" you objected and ran after him, the rest following you.
"How many tickets are we getting?" Foxy gushed.
"I don't know. Excuse me, how much for tickets?" you asked the lady at the ticket booth.
"We don't have tickets. But we do have wristbands. And they're ten dollars each," the lady said.
"Sweet, we'll take five," you told her as you pulled the wallet out of your pocket.
"That'll be fifty dollars," the lady gushed.
"Mhm, here ya go," you said as you handed her a fifty.
"And here you go," she replied as she handed you the five wristbands.
You handed the rest each a wristband and put yours on, stepping away from the ticket booth. Ballora had to help Baby some, and Bon-Bon huffed, because he didn't get one.
"Where do you guys want to go first?" you asked.
"Let's go on the one called, 'Zero Gravity,' " Foxy suggested as he pointed to one.
"Yeah, go grab a spot in line before too many people get there," you said, and he and Baby ran over to the line.
"What's it like?" Freddy asked.
"It's really fast," you replied.
"Ooh, it sounds fun," he laughed.
"Come on, guys!" Foxy called after you, Ballora, and Freddy, as he and Baby got their wristbands checked.
You walked up to the man at the gate and showed him your wristband. He nodded and ushered you and the rest in. You walked up the ramp, and Foxy and Baby waved at you. Ballora walked up and stood in the cage beside Baby. You stood beside Ballora, and Freddy stood next to you.
"Clip these things in," you told everyone as you clipped the chain across you.
"What do they do?" Baby asked.
"They- . . . You know, I don't know for sure, but they could end up hitting one of us when this thing spins," you replied.
"It spins?" Foxy squealed.
"Yeah," you chuckled.
"Yes!" Foxy laughed, and the ride started up.
"It's starting," you announced.
As the ride got faster, everyone was pushed into the wall, and you heard Baby and Foxy laugh hysterically. You giggled and looked over at Freddy, who had a tight grip on the bars that were at his sides. You reached over and tapped on the metal that separated you and Freddy. He gulped as he looked over at you.
"Hey, (Y/N), I bet I can get out of this thing before you can!" Foxy snickered.
"You're on!" you jeered.
You pushed off of the wall as you could feel the ride tilt over. You unclipped the chain and stepped out of the cage. You could see Foxy just a few steps ahead of you. You pushed off the bars and struggled to step toward the gate at the center. Baby was sitting up against the wall, watching the two of you. Ballora's feet were against the wall as she watched as well.
"HA! Got it! I got it!" Foxy bragged.
"Son of a- OOF!" you huffed as you stepped back into the cage and your back hit the wall.
"When does this thing stop?" Bon-Bon worried as he was stuck to the wall above Freddy.
"It's slowing down, so it should be stopping any second now!" you replied.
~ ~ ~ ~
"That was awesome!" Foxy cheered.
"Ohh, I don't feel too well," Freddy groaned.
"Let's go on it again," Baby laughed.
"I would love to, but I don't think Freddy is feeling very well," Ballora replied.
"How about we go on something calmer?" you suggested.
"No way, I'm going on that again!" Foxy stated.
"Me too. Ballora, come with us," Baby added as she pulled on Ballora's arm.
"Well, okay. (Y/N), you and Freddy can go on," Ballora muttered as Baby tried to pull her along.
"How about we all meet at the ticket booth at sundown?" you suggested.
"Sounds good to me!" Ballora exclaimed as Baby dragged her with her and Foxy.
"Where do you wanna go, Freddy?" you mentioned as you grabbed his hand.
"Why don't we go to that one over there?" Freddy said as he pointed over to one.
"The . . . Ferris wheel?" You sighed.
"Yeah," Freddy added.
"O-kay, sure," you replied and walked with him to the line. "Are you sure you want to ride this? What about the roller coaster, or maybe the tea cups?"
"No, this looks fun," Freddy said as you and him walked up and sat in the cart.
The man running the thing closed the two of you in, then he pushed the lever. You and Freddy rose as the next cart moved to the ramp. Freddy tapped on the bar and you sighed. Bon-Bon hadn't really moved or said anything since the three of you got off the other ride.
"Bon-Bon, are you okay?" you wondered.
"I almost died," Bon-Bon gasped.
"Pfft," you snickered as the cart moved up again.
"Where are we at?" Bon-Bon asked.
"We're on a Ferris wheel," you told him.
"Oh, this is really high," Bon-Bon mumbled.
"It's okay," you replied, and the carts started to slowly move back. "Oh, we're moving."
Freddy tapped his feet as he looked over the edge, around at the rest of the carnival. You leaned forward and the cart tilted. Freddy quickly put his hand over yours, looking at you. You looked back at him and smirked. You leaned back and the cart tilted back. You laughed and started to move back and forth, swaying the cart.
"(Y/N), what are you doing?" Freddy objected.
"No-thing," you laughed.
"(Y/N), we're not supposed to rock in this thing. What if it breaks?" Freddy worried, and you laughed as the cart tilted farther and farther. "Stop it!"
"This is fun!" you laughed.
Freddy scooted closer to you and gripped on to your shirt. You snickered as the cart rocked, and Freddy hid his face behind your arm. The ride started to slow down, and Freddy laughed nervously. The cart stopped at the bottom of the wheel and the man pulled up the bar, letting Freddy quickly step out and walk down the ramp. You sighed and followed him.
"Freddy, what's wrong?" you asked him.
"I-I don't know, I just feel tired." Freddy sighed.
"Oh, well, why don't we play some games at the booths?" you suggested.
"Sure," he said, and you entangled your fingers between his as you walked with him.
"The Balloon Pop?" you asked as you pointed to a booth.
"Yeah," he mumbled, and the two of you walked towards it.
"Hello. What's the price?" you wondered.
"Five dollars for three darts. If you can pop three balloons, you get a small prize. If you hit six, the prize gets bigger. It goes all the way up to twenty balloons, and then you get the jumbo prize: one of these giant teddy bears. So, what'll it be?" the man spoke.
"How many darts for eighty bucks?" you asked.
"Eighty bucks? Um . . . that'll be forty-eight turns, but I've only got six darts," he told you.
"How about between my partner and I, we can each shoot twenty-four times," you suggested.
The man dropped three darts in front of each of you and he stepped back. You grabbed one and was about to shoot it, but you saw a concession stand out of the corner of your eye, and you stopped. Freddy threw a dart and popped a balloon. He squealed, looking at you.
"What's wrong?" Freddy asked you as you stared behind him in awe.
"Food. Do you want anything?" you murmured.
"Um--"
"You know what, I'll let you try a funnel cake," you mused and headed towards the stand.
"But, what about your darts?" Freddy asked.
"You can shoot for me!" you yelled after him.
"Oh, okay," Freddy mumbled.
~ ~ ~ ~
"There you are! We've been looking everywhere for you!" Bon-Bon griped as Freddy walked up to the table you were sitting at.
"Hm?" you wondered through a mouthful of funnel cake.
"No, we haven't," Freddy objected.
"She doesn't have to know that," Bon-Bon hissed.
"Sorry, Freddy, Bon-Bon. I was just . . . eating," you mumbled.
"I got you this," Freddy crowed as he slid a giant teddy bear beside you.
"You won this, for me?" you gushed as your face flushed.
"Yeah, it's the least I could do. Since I'm being such a buzz-kill." Freddy sighed as he sat in front of you.
"No, Fredbear, I'm sorry. What's wrong?" you objected.
"I mean- I don't know . . . I just feel overwhelmed," Freddy croaked.
"You know, (Y/N), this is the first time we've ever been to a carnival," Bon-Bon reminded you.
"Yeah, I know. I'm so sorry, Freddy. Why- Why don't we just restart?" you suggested.
"What do you mean?" Freddy asked.
"I mean--" you said and grabbed Freddy's hand--"how about we go put my mini Fredbear up, and we'll start this whole day again."
"Oh, okay," Freddy said.
~ ~ ~ ~
"Did you make sure to lock the doors?" you asked Freddy.
"Yeah, what do we do first?" Freddy wondered.
"What do you wanna go on first?" you chuckled.
"Why don't we go on the Paratrooper?" Freddy suggested.
"That sounds fun." You giggled.
You and Freddy walked towards it with your hands together. Luckily, the ride hadn't started yet, as it was loading people on. You walked through the gate and showed the operator your wristband, and he nodded. You pulled Freddy to a seat and jumped into it. It swayed as Freddy struggled to sit in it. You laughed, and when Freddy got in, you pulled the bar closed.
"This doesn't go too fast, does it? It's not gonna stick me to the seat, is it?" Freddy worried as the operator went around and checked all the seats.
"No, no, no. This is much slower than the other one," you assured him as the man shook the bar in front of you.
Freddy grabbed your hand as the seats lifted up, and the ride shook as it tilted. You rubbed your thumb against his fingers and smiled softly at him. He gave you a nervous smile as the seats started to move forward. Bon-Bon's ears fell back as he looked around himself. As the ride started to get faster, you giggled knd kicked your feet as you looked out. Freddy looked down at the ground as the seats swung around.
"Woah," Freddy gasped, then started to laugh hysterically.
"Right? Do you like it?" You giggled.
"Like it? I love it! WOOH!" Freddy laughed and stuck his hands in the air.
"FREDDY!" Bon-Bon screeched, then he looked around. "Never mind!"
He giggled and shook his arms up and down. The ride started to slow down, and Freddy whined.
"No, it's not over. Now it's going backwards," you assured him.
"Oh, yay!" Freddy cheered.
~ ~ ~ ~
"Can we go on it again?" Freddy pleaded as the two of you walked out of the gated area.
"Why don't we try out other rides?" you chuckled.
"Ohh, but this one's fun," Freddy whined.
"There are more that are way better," you gushed.
"Really? Like what?" Freddy squealed.
"How about the Zero Gravity? I guarantee the rest are still over there," you suggested.
"Yeah!" him and Bon-Bon exclaimed in unison.
He grabbed your hand and dragged you with him as he quickly ran over to the ride. You laughed, and he showed the operator his wristband. You held up yours and the man pointed up at the ride. Freddy pulled you up the ramp as you looked around for the rest. Freddy spotted them before you and ran over to them. You stepped in beside Ballora, with Freddy beside you, and clipped the chain together.
"Hey! You guys are back!" Foxy cheered.
"What happened?" Ballora wondered--strands of hair were loose from her bun, and her eyes almost seemed dazed over.
"Yeah, Freddy was just a bit overwhelmed, so we took a quick breather," you replied.
"You guys got here just in time. The place is closing up for the night, so this is the last time," Foxy told you.
"Oh--"
"Ooh, it's starting," Baby squealed as the ride moved.
"You wanna bet again?" Foxy snickered at you.
"Um, yeah! As soon as this thing tilts over, the first to the gate wins!" you boasted.
"You're on! What's the prize?" Foxy scoffed.
"Bragging rights!" you replied.
You were pushed back into the wall as the ride got faster. Beside you, Freddy was laughing as Bon-Bon was stuck against his stomach. You struggled to lean forward and look over at Foxy, who was already staring at you intently. Baby sat up and started to flip upside down, while Ballora crawled up the wall and put up her feet. The ride shook somewhat as it started to tilt over.
"Now!" Foxy shouted, and you were off.
You quickly unclipped the chain and pushed off the wall. Foxy had enough practice, so he was already halfway there. You grunted as you stepped towards the gate. You reached for it, seeing out of the corner of your eye that Foxy was too.
"I got it!" Freddy exclaimed, just before you grabbed the rail. "(Y/N), look! I won! I touched it first!"
"Huh!" you wondered as you looked over at him--he was smiling slyly at you, looking for your approval.
You frowned and sighed as you stepped back into the cage. You heard Foxy groan, and you could practically see his eyes roll to the back of his head. Freddy stepped over and turned around to look at you. You tilted your head, and he cautiously stepped towards you, gripping on to the gate behind him. When he let go of the gate, he slid towards you, and his body slammed into yours, almost knocking the wind out of you and himself.
"Wh- . . . What are you doing?" you stammered, and Freddy pushed himself up some.
"S-sorry, I was trying to get in beside you," Freddy mumbled.
"I think this is better," you admitted and pulled your feet up.
"Heh-heh," Freddy laughed nervously.
You ran your hands through his hair and moved his face towards you, pulling him into a long kiss. He leaned farther into you--although not intentionally. Bon-Bon sighed and struggled to turn his head as he lay against the cage beside you.
"Breathe!" Bon-Bon giggled.
Freddy struggled to pull away a bit. You smirked, and the ride started to slow down, giving Freddy the chance to slip into his cage before he could get caught.
