What's Going On? (Chapter Ten)

"Okay, the rules are simple. The player turns around--or whatever--as the others come up with an order for them to go in. The player chooses one of them to quickly come up with a broad-ranging topic; examples would be, vegetables or brand names. The player, using the topic, has to quickly come up with a way to include one of the others' names into an existing thing: vegetable or brand name. Once they say it, the person who's next in the order that them and the others came up with, will say: 'switch.' The order will repeat until the player takes too long to come up with something, or until one of the rest thinks what they said isn't relevant--or good--enough." There was a moment of silence. "I may not have explained that well. Uhm, we'll do a practice round. I'm going to turn around as you guys come up with an order, and once you're done, tell me."

You turned around and covered your ears. You waited, and after a few seconds, you felt a tap on your shoulder. You looked back, uncovering your ears.

"Ballora's first," Freddy told you.

"Okay, Baby, come up with a topic." You pointed at her.

"Uh- Songs?" Baby mumbled.

". . . Really? You couldn't have come up with something easier?" you grunted.

"Get to it or we'll think you're cheating!" Foxy snapped.

"Okay, the next person will just have to say 'switch' when they want. Okay- Hey there, Ballora! What's it like in Baby's Rentals? I'm a third a yard away! But, girl, tonight you look so pretty! Yes, you do! These lights can't shine as bright as you! I swear, it's true!" you sang.

"Switch," Foxy said.

"Um. Fo-o-xy, I know your foremost turns everyone on! But you're the one I want! But you're the one I want!"

"Switch," said Baby.

"I really can't stay-- But, Baby, it's cold outside! I've got to go away-- But, Baby, it's cold outside! This evening has been-- Been hoping that you'd drop in-- so very nice!"

"Sw-switch!" Freddy cheered.

"Uh- Like a river flows, surely to the sea. Freddy, so it goes. Some things are meant to be. Take my hand, take my whole life too. For I can't help falling in love with you." Freddy blushed brightly.

"Switch!" Bon-Bon jumped in.

"Bon-Bon's the one, don't weigh a ton! Don't need no legs to get respect up on the street! Un--"

"What is that?" Bon-Bon interrupted you.

"It's a meme song. I think it's from Denzel Curry."

"Bon-Bon, do you count it?" Foxy asked, and Bon-Bon looked away from you, shaking his head. "You're out!"

"Wha- Bon-Bon?"

"I'm sorry," Bon-Bon mumbled.

"Fine," you sighed. "You guys get the game?"

"I believe so." Baby looked at the rest and nodded.

"Alright, Freddy, you can go first."

Freddy closed his eyes and you and the rest pointed to each other. You guys came up with an order and you tapped on Freddy's shoulder. He opened his eyes and looked over at you.

"Baby's first. Freddy, pick someone to say a topic." You chewed on your ice.

"Bon-Bon, pick-pick some-thing." Freddy waited for a second. "That sou-sounds like a good ch-choice, Bon-Bon! What do y-ou think?"

"Freddy, I still can't hear Bon-Bon's thoughts," you reminded him.

"Pizza toppings." Bon-Bon giggled.

"Sounds good to me. Freddy, go."

"Okay. Baby-que."

"Next," Ballora said.

"Moz-allora," Freddy chuckled.

Just then, the alarm on your phone went off, telling you that it was six o'clock. Freddy whined. You picked up your cup of ice. The animatronics headed to their podiums.

"Night, everyone!" You waved to them and quickly ran into the kitchen to throw away your cup.

When you came back out, the animatronics were already gone. You walked to the elevator and descended.

Once the elevator stopped, you crawled through the vent, walked through Ballora Gallery, and went into the Breaker Room. You stretched and yawned. You lay down on the mattress and wrapped yourself up in the blanket, closing your eyes and going to sleep.

You looked around the dark room. You were in the pizzeria, but it looked rotten and beat down. You stood in the center of the stage room. Baby and the rest of the animatronics were on their podiums. You squinted as bright lights turned on and shined on the animatronics.

"Is everyone enjoying their pizza?" Baby spoke.

"YEAH!" cheered a bunch of kids.

You looked around the room, but nobody was there. Freddy and Foxy waved to nobody. You scratched the back of your head questioningly.

"(Y/N), are you enjoying your stay?"

You raised an eyebrow, frowning. Walking closer, you noticed all the animatronics staring at you. You were drawn to Baby. You gulped and reached your hand out towards her--you couldn't stop yourself. Baby looked down at you and grabbed your wrist.

"Ow!" you cried out.

"You've taken too long, (Y/N)," Baby said softly, her grip on your wrist tightening.

"Why didn't you just get us what we wanted? What we needed," Ballora mumbled.

"We could've been out of here by now, Baby! I want to leave! I don't like it here! I don't want to have to keep doing the things they make us do!" Freddy whined, his voice glitch free.

You tried to pull away from Baby, but her grip just kept getting tighter. Baby pulled you closer to her, frowning. You tried to keep your distance, but she grabbed your other hand. Baby glared at you.

"You could've gotten us out of here sooner, but you didn't, and now we've done it again. We can't stand it any longer. We will get out of here, no matter what it takes. Even if it means taking your life," Baby whispered.

Your eyes filled with terror as she stared into your soul. She pushed you back and onto the floor. The animatronics got off their podiums and walked towards you. You scrambled up and ran towards the front doors.

You burst through the doors, then quickly turned back to hold them shut. You shut your eyes, waiting for an impact. When nothing happened, you opened your eyes. You took a step back in disbelief. There was no longer a door, but just a concrete wall.

"What's going on?" you worried, looking around the room.

A light flashing in and out was the only thing that helped you see. You saw some kind of machine in front of you, connected to the wall. There were two big windows on each side of the machine. The animatronics' suits were all mangled up on the floor, except for Baby's. There was a camera pointed at you from the corner, flashing a red light.

"Where am I?" you asked nobody.

"You're in the Scooping Room," a voice--sounding like Baby--said.

"What's that?" you questioned.

"It's the room where you get scooped, silly," Baby chuckled.

"Why am I here?"

"Um, to get scooped. Duh. I thought that would've been pretty obvious," Baby said, annoyed.

"What am I getting scooped for?"

"Boy, you ask a lot of question," grumbled a voice--sounding like Foxy.

"Will you be quiet. Let me talk here," Baby growled.

"Why can't I talk?" Freddy's voice whined.

You looked around the room, searching for where the voices were coming from. In the window, you could see the silhouette of someone--or something.

"Why can't I talk," Foxy mocked Freddy. "Shut it, you big baby!"

"Both of you shut it!" Baby sighed. "We need your body, (Y/N), so we can leave."

"What? My body?"

"Yes. We needed a body, but since you denied us, we will take yours," Baby told you.

"I didn't deny you. Just give me a little more time. I promise I'll get you guys bodies," you begged.

"It's too late," Baby crooned.

Your breath caught in your throat as a loud beeping echoed in the room. "No, wait! Please, I'll get you bodies right now. Just, please, don't do this!"

You tried to move from your spot, but something held you in place--hands were gripping your arms. You looked behind you and saw the same figure that was in the window. It had a white face, a red nose, and a party hat. You struggled to escape its grasp, but you froze when the beeping stopped. When you looked up, the machine thrust towards you.

Your eyes shot open and your arm jerked out from under you. You looked around the room, then dropped your head when you realized that it was just a dream.

You sat up from the foam pads and rubbed your eyes. You yawned and stretched. You were still a bit tired. About an hour after you went to sleep, you had to wake back up to help James and the rest of the men move the animatronics. You told him you had come early so that he wouldn't suspect that you had been staying at the pizzeria.

"Mm, maybe just five more minutes," you murmured and lay back down.

You filled your cup with ice and started to make your way back to the elevator. That was, until you heard a truck pull into the parking lot.

"They're already back? Son of a crack!" You ran back into the kitchen.

You looked out the window of the kitchen door and watched as Aaron--you had learned the men's names this morning--ran into one of the breaker rooms. You opened the doors slightly and peeked around the corners. Tyler and Seth had the front doors opened.

"Alright, how do I do this?" James thought to himself, looking at the animatronics in the truck.

James made sure the ramp was secure and walked back some. He looked to Tyler and Seth, who shrugged. He thought back to what you said to get them to move.

"Oh. Freddy, follow me," James spoke and stared at the animatronic.

James waited for Freddy to activate, but he didn't. James groaned and walked towards the front doors. You ducked back into the kitchen and listened.

"Do you guys wanna move them ourselves, or do you wanna call (Y/N)? See if he can get them to move," James asked the men; Aaron walked out and over to the rest of the group.

"I think we'd rather you call (Y/N)," Seth mumbled.

"Okay." James took out his phone.

James dialed your number and called you. You reached into your pocket for your phone, but it wasn't there. The ringing of your phone from behind you caught your attention. You rushed over and answered it.

"Hello?" you whispered.

"(Y/N)?" a voice came from behind you.

You turned quickly, to look at James. You waved to him shyly.

"What are you doing here? And why are you in your pajamas?" James asked.

"Oh, these? They're comfy," you said, looking down at the tank top and fluffy sweatpants you were wearing.

"What are you doing here?" James asked again.

"I just, um . . . I, uh . . . I thought I may've left my phone here. Turns out, it's been in my pocket the whole time," you laughed nervously.

James raised an eyebrow as the rest of the men walked into the kitchen. "Have you been staying here?"

"What- No," you stammered unconvincingly.

"I'm not buying that. Why aren't you at your house? Do you have nowhere else to go?" James worried.

"James, there's no need to worry. I have been staying here, but, I've got plenty of food and water, the shower and the washer and dryer work, and I've even got a few foam pads to sleep on in the Breaker Room downstairs," you explained.

"But, why are you staying here and not somewhere else?"

"Well, I don't really have the money. But, I'm good here," you assured him.

James sighed and ushered off the men. He walked up to you and put his hands on your shoulders.

"Why don't you stay with me? My wife and I won't mind at all." James smiled.

"I can't. They won't let me," you whispered subconsciously, and you started to feel lightheaded.

"What do you mean?"

Suddenly, an excruciatingly painful feeling engulfed your body. You would've screamed, but you couldn't, your chest feeling like it was being crushed. Your eyes felt like they were about to pop out of your head. Your sight became blurry and you stumbled back some. You dropped to your knees and started coughing.

"Are you okay?" James asked and kneeled down in front of you.

You shook your head, gasping for air and coughing uncontrollably. The pressure became almost unbearable.

James lifted you up and you whimpered in pain. He put his arm around you and walked you out of the kitchen. The men ran up to you and James.

"Someone go start the truck!" James ordered and Aaron did as he said.

Your legs gave out and you dropped to the floor. You curled up, wheezing. Blood started to come out of every hole in your body.

"Oh my god! God, damn it, what's taking so--"

"Guys," Aaron started in the doorway.

"Why aren't you starting the truck?" James barked.

"I tried. It's not starting," he said.

"Why not?" James asked.

"I don't know. It just won't. I tried to multiple times," Aaron said.

"Then, call an ambulance," James said, kneeling down to you.

Aaron took out his phone and dialed, "9-1-1." He put the phone to his ear and waited. A few seconds later, he looked at his phone.

"There's no service," he gasped.

"What?" James looked up.

Tyler and Seth took out their phones and looked at them. Tyler held his phone up, cursing under his breath.

"Mine doesn't have service, either," Seth mumbled.

"Neither does mine," Tyler added.

"Then, what the fuck do we do!" James blurted.

You groaned and held your head in your hands. James put his hand on your shoulder. You looked up at him, your vision blurry from the blood and pain.

"Fuck, what's wrong with him?" James worried.

What you and the men didn't notice, were the animatronics standing in the doorway. They waited patiently, staring at you and the group.

"What about his car?" Tyler asked.

"But, what about the keys?" Seth pointed out.

"I know how to jumpstart a car!" Aaron turned around, then paused. "What the fuck."

"When did you guys move them?" James asked.

"We didn't," Seth quavered.

"Are you guys ready to start the show?" Baby spoke, causing the men to jump.

"What's going on?" Seth asked.

"They could be malfunctioning," Tyler commented.

"That doesn't matter, right now!" James blurted, looking down at you, then mumbled, "Jesus christ."

James pulled you up as Aaron walked towards the animatronics. He looked up at Baby, who just stared ahead. Freddy's hat moved up and down.

"Would you like some ice cream?" Baby looked down at Aaron.

"Um, no, thank you." Aaron cringed.

Baby tilted her head, her eyes going dark. Her face plates twitched and she let out a scream. A claw reached out and grabbed Aaron around the waist. It attempted to pull him into her stomach, but Aaron was too big.

"Help!" Aaron screamed, the sounds of his bones snapping echoing off the walls.

His neck folded as his body was crammed into Baby. Baby's stomach closed up and she stared ahead. Seth held his stomach and bent over, throwing up.

Baby looked up at the rest of the men. "Did you enjoy our show?"

Freddy laughed as he came towards you all. Ballora dropped down on all fours, crawling along with him.

"Fuck! Run!" Tyler screamed.

James pulled you along as him, Tyler, and Seth, ran into the breaker room. Tyler slammed the door and backed away from it.

"What the fuck is going on? What are we gonna do?" Seth wailed.

"Shut up! Shut up," James hushed him.

You fell onto the floor and James kneeled next to you. Everyone jumped as something knocked on the door.

"Kn-knock kn-knock, anybody home?" Freddy laughed.

"Did you not enjoy our show?" Baby asked.

"Why not come out from your hiding," Ballora suggested.

"Yeah, we can give you another show," Foxy said, then laughed.

James held onto you, Seth curled up in the corner, and Tyler stood ready for anything. A weird mist seeped beneath the door.

"What is that?" James gasped.

Tyler coughed and dropped to the ground. The gas went over him and started to crawl up your leg. You wheezed, feeling lightheaded. Your vision started going away and the last thing you saw was the door burst open, before Seth's scream faded into the darkness that engulfed you.

"(Y/N)? Are you alright?" a voice echoed in your head.

You looked down, to see a hand on your shoulder. When you looked back up, you saw James looking at you. You looked around--you were in the kitchen. You shook your head, confused and startled as to what had just happened.

"Yeah. What's going on?" you asked him, putting a hand on your aching head.

"You just stared past me and didn't answer my question," James said.

"What was it you asked?"

"I asked if you wanted to stay with me and my wife. Are you sure you're okay?"

"I've just, got a small headache. That's all. And I'm fine here," you said and smiled up at him.

"You sure?"

"Yeah. It's actually really nice here. I don't have to worry about paying for rent, or an electricity or water bill."

"Okay. Anyways, we need you to--"

"Move the animatronics. I know." You walked out of the kitchen alongside James.
