Wanted (Chapter Twenty-Eight)

"IT BIT ME!" you heard Foxy yelp as you became conscious.

"Shhh!" Freddy hissed as you opened your eyes.

You squinted as you looked around, the sun shining through the trees. You were out in the middle of the woods, still lying on Freddy's back. You raised up and yawned as you stretched. Freddy looked back at you and sniffed your face. He turned back around and growled at Foxy. Foxy stood and snarled back.

"What happened?" you wondered tiredly.

"I told Foxy not to mess with this bug, but he didn't listen, and it bit him," Bon-Bon snickered.

"Where are we?" you asked.

"We're at the cabin," Baby told you.

You looked over--the cabin was just at the edge of your sight. You looked back. Foxy swatted at the bug, and now looking at it, you saw that it was just an ant. Ballora stood on Baby as she watched Foxy. Freddy looked at you and you smiled.

"Why are we so far away?"

"That way nobody saw us," Freddy replied.

You slid off of Freddy and stood up. Freddy picked up the bag and handed it to you. The group followed you as you started walking towards the house, and you looked back at them, pointing to your eyes--meaning to make it to where only you could see them. They all changed back into humans, and you walked to the cabin. The wood creaked under your feet as you walked onto the porch. The couple's car was still parked in the driveway.

"I hope 'Ricky' is in a good mood," you mumbled.

You knocked on the door and held the bag in front of you, waiting for them to answer. Freddy looked softly at you and you returned the gesture. You knocked on the door again and waited. You heard muffled talking on the other side of the door and shuffling. The door opened and Ricky's face contorted into disgust when he saw you.

"What are you doing here?" Ricky growled.

"I'm sorry. I-I was just wondering if I could . . . maybe . . . crash here for a while?" You gulped.

"Who is it? OH, it's you!" the woman exclaimed.

"Hello." You waved to her shyly.

"Jay-Jay, why are you happy?" Ricky objected as he turned towards her.

"Babe, this kid is all alone," Jay-Jay said as Ricky turned and glared at you.

"Yeah, but . . . Ugh!" Ricky groaned.

"Come on in," Jay-Jay said, taking you by the hand.

You walked in and she led you into the living room. Ricky left the door open as he watched you, giving Baby, Ballora, Foxy, and Freddy, enough time to walk in. Ricky slammed the door shut and walked into the living room. He pulled out a chair and sat in it as you and Jay-Jay sat on the couch.

"What's your name, sweetie?" Jay-Jay asked.

"My name's (Y/N)," you informed her.

"Oh, (Y/N)'s a very beautiful name. And how old are you?" Jay-Jay gushed.

"Um, I'm eighteen," you told her.

"Oh. So, you're not a kid," Jay-Jay croaked and blushed.

"HA, NOW YOU CAN'T SAY, 'BUT HE'S JUST A KID!' " Ricky mocked her as he stood up and knocked over the chair.

Jay-Jay glared at Ricky, and he pulled up the chair and sat back down, lowering his head. Jay-Jay looked back at you and smiled nervously. Baby and the gang watched you, staying quiet as to not distract you.

"Well, my name is Jade, and this is Richard," who you knew before as Jay-Jay, said.

"Why do you guys call each other, 'Ricky' and 'Jay-Jay'? " you wondered.

"They're nicknames," Jade stated.

"We should give each other nicknames!" Freddy blurted.

Your eyes darted to Freddy and he shied away. You looked back at Jade, who grinned, while Richard's glare slowly bored through your head.

"Um, so . . . How old are you guys?"

"I'm twenty-three, and he's twenty-five," she said.

"Oh, okay."

You nodded and looked down, twiddling your thumbs. You started to become anxious as the room fell into silence. Richard tapped his foot as he started to become impatient.

"Would you like something to drink, or eat?" Jade asked.

"Um, sure," you replied.

She stood up and walked out into the hallway, then the kitchen. You sat still, looking around some. When your eyes scanned across Richard, his glare and the silence made you feel uneasy. You gulped as you tried to avoid his eyes.

"Here we go," Jade sang as she walked into the living room and handed you a glass of milk and a plate with a few cookies on it.

"Jay-Jay, those are our cookies," Richard croaked.

"Yeah, but we can share a few," Jade commented.

Richard huffed and growled. Jade looked back at you as you dipped a cookie into the milk. You were about to bite into it, when you noticed Freddy staring at you longingly and Jade smiling at you. You coughed and looked down at your plate, holding on to the cookie.

"Oh, don't mind me. Um- Ooh! We got a few things while you were gone, because we found out that you weren't the only one to take shelter here," Jade mentioned.

"Really? Like what?" you wondered as you bit into your cookie.

"Well, we got a few gaming consoles and a butt-load of games. In the kitchen, we put in a stove. There's now a washer and dryer in the bathroom, as well as many more bathing essentials. There's now a desk with a computer on it and a TV above the dresser, in the bedroom. There are also a few sleeping bags rolled up underneath the bed. I think that's it. Right, Ricky?" Jade chatted.

"Yeah," Richard said frostily.

"Hey, Richard, come here for a moment. We need to talk," Jade said sternly as she stood up and walked out into the hallway.

Richard gulped and stood up, pushing the chair back under the table. You watched him as he walked out of the living room. You finished your last cookie and sipped on the milk. You set the plate and the cup on the table that was against the wall. Freddy sat next to you and smiled innocently.

"Richard, what is wrong with you?" Jade whispered.

"He broke into our house," Richard defended himself.

"He's homeless," Jade hissed.

"Yeah, but--"

"Richard," Jade sighed.

"What?" Richard waited.

"Why don't we let him live here?" Jade suggested.

"What! Hell no. Jay-Jay, this is our vacation home," Richard barked.

"Vacation? Really?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, this isn't really a place to spend a vacation. Maybe we can buy a house near the beach. Now, that would be a vacation home," Jade told him.

"But . . ." Richard stammered.

"Your father's a billionaire, Ricky, spending a few hundred a month won't dent us. Besides, he's always paying for this place even when we're not here. And, being billionaires gives us more of a reason not to live in such a crummy place," Jade added.

"We bought this house because we didn't want to be the stereotypical rich people," Richard reminded Jade.

"Yeah, but, the stereotypical rich person wouldn't give a homeless person anything," Jade responded.

". . . I suppose he could stay here," Richard sighed.

"Thank you, Ricky," Jade said, hugging him; she then planted a loving kiss on his cheek.

Jade and Richard walked back into the living room. Jade sat back on the couch and Richard sat in the chair the way he did before. Jade looked at the plate and cup and stood up. She grabbed them and hurried to the kitchen, putting them into the sink. She rushed back into the living room and sat down.

"Okay, so we have exciting news. For you," Jade stated.

"Yeah, I overheard. Thank you, very much," you replied.

Jade grinned as she looked at Richard. Richard tried to hide his smile behind the chair, but his eyes told on him. You smiled at Jade as she turned back to you.

"We'll leave some time tomorrow," Jade said.

"Tomorrow?" Richard griped.

"Yes, Ricky, tomorrow." Jade giggled.

"Er, whatever," Richard mumbled, trying to act tough as Jade looked at him softly.

Jade gently grabbed your bag and walked out of the living room. Richard looked out into the hallway, watching Jade walk into the bedroom. He raised an eyebrow and looked back at you.

"Okay, kid. Since you're here, might as well get to know ya," Richard said as he leaned back and onto his elbows.

"Not a kid. And what do you want to know?" you replied.

"Why you came back," Richard wondered, sounding more curious than mad.

"Well, I, um . . . Sorry, but, I-I don't really wanna talk about it," you confessed as you stared at the floor.

"A'ight, that's fine," Richard said coolly.

"I'm back!" Jade exclaimed, coming into the living room with a suitcase in hand.

"What are you getting ready for?" Richard snickered.

"We're giving (Y/N)-- here--the bed," Jade said as she set the luggage beside the couch.

"What? That means we're sleeping on the couch," Richard snapped.

"The stereotypical rich person wouldn't sleep on a couch. Besides, we'll be close to each other. If you know what I mean," Jade said and winked.

Jade smirked and the two held a gaze between each other. Freddy's eyes widened as if he had just had a thought, then he put his head in his hands, blushing madly. You coughed awkwardly and the couple snapped out of it.

"Don't mind us. We just got engaged. Ooh, you want to know how he proposed?" Jade squealed.

"On voicemail."

"What? How did you know?"

"I heard it?" you squeaked.

"Ohh, right," Jade said.

Jade stood up and walked into the kitchen. Richard stood up as well and grabbed the remote from the television stand. He plopped down onto the coach beside you and turned the TV on.

"How does spaghetti sound?" Jade asked from the kitchen.

"Sure! You have got to try her spaghetti, it's the best," Richard told you.

"Hey, (Y/N)?" Jade said, sticking her head into the living room.

"Yes?" you wondered.

"Why don't you go take a nice shower. And then you can go relax in the bedroom," Jade said, smiling.

"That sounds nice." You smiled back.

"Your stuff is already in the bedroom," Jade told you as you stood up.

Jade went back into the kitchen as you walked down the hallway, the rest following close behind you. You opened the bedroom door and walked in. You spotted your bag on the desk, beside the computer. You shut the door after everyone got in.

"Hey, you just got a house!" Foxy exclaimed.

"Yeah, I couldn't believe they actually gave me the place. And I definitely didn't know they were rich," you said.

"Well, now- technically- you're rich too. Huh?" Foxy commented.

"What if the police find us?" Freddy worried.

"Then, we'll just hide. But you don't need to worry, okay?" you assured him.

"O-okay," Freddy stuttered.

You grabbed your bag and walked out into the hallway. As you opened the bathroom door, Freddy walked behind you. You turned around and gently tried to push Freddy away, but your hand just went right through him. Freddy shuddered and stepped back.

"That felt weird," Freddy whispered.

"You can't follow me in here," you quietly told him.

"O-oh, right," Freddy stammered as he scratched the back of his neck

You were lying on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. You could hear the TV in the living room. It was 7:43 PM; you were starting to get tired. Once you had gotten out of the shower, Jade had the spaghetti fixed, so you ate. Then, you locked yourself in the bedroom to relax.

"You guys have been awfully quiet," you admitted.

"Are we supposed to talk?" Baby sassed.

"Well, I mean . . ." you trailed off, sitting up.

"What do you wanna talk about?" Freddy asked.

"I don't know," you mumbled.

"Ooh, we can get to know you better! Like, we could ask you when your birthday is, what your favourite color is, or what your parents' names are," Freddy babbled.

"Oh my god! I haven't talked to my parents in over a week," you exclaimed.

"Is that bad?" Baby asked.

"Yes!" you said, taking out your phone.

You dialed your parents' number and called them. The phone rang as you waited for an answer. You looked at your phone, then put it back to your ear.

"Hello, sorry, I can't pick up the phone at the moment. Leave a voicemail and I'll try to call back when I get the time," your mother's voice said through the speaker.

"Shiitake mushrooms. I'll try calling them later, or wait till they call me," you said to yourself.

"What happened?" Foxy asked.

"It went to voicemail," you told him.

"What is that?" Ballora looked at you peculiarly.

"It's when- . . . Never mind." You sighed.

"What do you want to do?" Freddy wondered.

"I guess, I can just go to sleep," you yawned.

"How about we all go to sleep?" Baby suggested.

Foxy grabbed a sleeping bag from under the bed and set it out beside the door. Baby grabbed one and put it in front of the window. Ballora then put hers in the corner next to the dresser. You tossed them each a pillow and they lay down.

"There aren't any more sleeping bags. Where am I supposed to sleep?" Freddy mumbled.

"With me," you said.

"Eeeh!" Bon-Bon squealed.

"B-but, I don't want to make you uncomfortable, or take up too much room," Freddy stammered, blushing brightly as he stared at his feet.

"You won't bother me," you said, hopping off the bed.

You reached for Freddy's hands, but you just faded through him. He paused, then grabbed your hands. You grinned and guided him towards the bed. Bon-Bon jumped off of Freddy's shoulder, and you patted the bed. Freddy crawled across the bed and got under the covers. His heartbeat quickened as you got under the covers, next to him, and faced him.

"G-good night," Freddy whispered.

You scooted closer to Freddy and wrapped your arms around him, resting your head against his chest. You giggled quietly as you heard Freddy's heart beat quickly. Bon-Bon crawled onto your shoulder and lay down. Freddy hesitantly wrapped his arms around you, and you smiled into his chest. He rested his head on yours and closed his eyes.

"Why is my plate crooked?" Richard griped.

"What do you mean?" Jade said as she poured some milk into her cup of coffee.

"Look--see. The smallest one is crooked by about forty-five degrees," Richard complained.

"How do you know?" Jade snickered as she examined the plate.

"The purple flower that's halfway under the pink one is supposed to be on the top. It's not," Richard said.

"The whole thing's like that." Jade giggled.

"You wouldn't understand," Richard mumbled.

"You're right," Jade said, before she kissed Richard on the cheek.

"You didn't use my plate?" Richard worried as he gripped onto Jade's shoulders, causing her to drop her cup.

"Ugh, Richard. You made me spill my coffee," Jade grumbled.

"Did you?" Richard squeaked.

"Ricky, I would never do anything to make you sad. Now, to make you mad is a-whole-nother story."

"But why is it--"

Richard gasped and looked into Jade's eyes. His lips quivered and his eyes got glossy. She looked at him sadly and put a hand on his shoulder.

"He didn't?" Richard croaked.

"I found it in the sink. I thought if I were to clean it and put it back, you wouldn't notice," Jade confessed.

"My babies," Richard sobbed as he stuffed his face in Jade's neck.

"We can get you new ones," Jade suggested as she tried to perk him up.

"No, they were limited edition."

"It was only one plate, though."

"And now it's ruined," Richard cried.

"Ugh. I swear, you love those things more than me." Jade huffed.

"THAT BITCH IS GONNA PAY!" Richard roared as he stomped out into the hallway.

"No-no, wait," Jade said as she grabbed his arm.

"What?" Richard barked.

"Did you seriously just snap at me?" Jade growled.

"No," Richard squeaked.

"Look, Ricky. How about, this afternoon, when we leave, we go to a hotel or some other nice place. Then, we can relax, and maybe we can 'wrestle' on the bed," Jade suggested.

"I like that idea," Richard commented, as if he had completely forgotten about the plates.

A knock on the door caught the attention of the couple. Jade looked at Richard questioningly and walked towards the door. Richard lightly pushed Jade behind him and reached for the handle. He opened the door a bit and peeked out.

"Hello, sir." A police officer waved to him as he stood on the porch.

"Oh, hello, is something wrong?" Richard asked as he opened the door.

"A few days ago, we had someone call in and report a robbery and car theft. It didn't take us long to find a suspect, but when we asked him questions, he had led us off and lied to us, and he fled. We searched around and found a picture online of the suspect that was taken just the day before yesterday. We had questioned the one who shot it, and they said that the picture was taken a few miles away from here. So--concluding my reasoning for being here--have you seen anything?" the officer explained.

"No, sir," Jade told him.

"Maybe this will refresh your memory," the officer said as he took out a photo.

"It can't be," Jade gasped.

"Do you know this man?" the officer asked.

"Yeah, but you must be mistaken. He can't possibly be a thief," Jade murmured.

"He's in the door to the right," Richard stated blankly.

The officer took out his gun and walked down the hallway. He leaned against the wall and turned the knob. When it didn't open, he knocked on the door.

"This is the police, come out with your hands up!" he bellowed.

"Richard!" Jade scolded him as she punched him in the arm.

"What? I knew he was trouble," Richard admitted.

"There must be a logical reason behind this," Jade denied.

"Jade, he's just been playing us this whole time," Richard said.

"Open the door or I will have to use force!" the officer boomed.

"I-I don't think that's necessary. If you honestly need in there, I have a key," Jade mentioned.

The policeman stepped back and kicked open the door. Jade sighed as Richard stepped into the doorway. The officer pointed his gun around the room. He looked around and dropped his gun--you were nowhere in sight.

"Look, this is a serious matter," the policeman growled as he walked past Richard.

"But he was just here. He stayed the night here," Richard objected.

"I don't have the time to play these games," the officer said as he stopped.

"But--" Richard started to say as the officer walked out the door.

A hand went over his mouth as he was dragged into the bedroom. The door shut, and he tried to squirm out of their grasp.

"Shhh," you whispered into his ear.
