Shapeshifting (Chapter Thirty-One)

Freddy's eyes fluttered open, and the sunset soaked into them. He yawned and attempted to lift his arms to wipe his eyes, but they were stuck. He looked up and saw you lying on top of him. Your knees were on each side of his hips as you cradled his pelvis with yours. Your head was laying on his chest, and your back gently rose and fell. Freddy's hands were on his stomach and under yours. He blushed and let out a longing sigh.

He slowly slid his hands out and you yawned. You lifted up your head groggily and looked into Freddy's eyes. Freddy blushed brighter and looked back at you. You smiled as you struggled to keep your eyes open. You giggled as you slid up towards him, and you closed your eyes. His eyes widened, his face felt like it was on fire, and his breath caught in his throat, as you attempted to kiss him. He carefully pushed your face to the side. Your head fell onto his shoulder as you fell back asleep.

"Not like that," he mumbled to himself.

Freddy sat up, while you remained wrapped around him. You shot up and gasped and he put his hand on your back as he blushed brightly, making you relax. You looked around yourself and sighed. You scooted back and lay down. Freddy carefully swung his legs off the hammock and stepped off. He turned around and smiled down at you. You looked up at him groggily and he lifted you up. Your eyes widened as he picked you up and cradled you, carefully setting you down and helping you stand up.

Freddy put his fists on his hips as you stood next to him. He jumped when he heard a soft thud, and he looked down, only to see you on the ground. You groaned as your face remained shoved into the dirt. Freddy sighed and smiled at you sympathetically.

"Wake up, everyone!" he exclaimed.

Foxy shot up and raised his fist to punch someone. When he saw Freddy grinning goofily at him, he growled and fell back. Ballora woke up gently, but Baby remained asleep. Ballora sat up and swung her legs off. She held Baby from under her legs, as they were already wrapped around her. She stepped off the hammock. Baby lifted her head, hanging her arms around Ballora's neck. It dropped back down and onto Ballora's shoulder.

"Good morning," Freddy gushed as you stood up.

"Ugh . . ." you groaned.

"Oooh," Freddy squealed as he hugged you tightly.

"What are you so happy about?" you chuckled raspily.

"U-uhm, well . . . Don't you remember?" Freddy asked you after he put you down.

"Hiya, guys!" Bon-Bon exclaimed as he jumped up.

"Hi, Bon-Bon. Remember what?" you wondered.

"What you said in the library yesterday," Freddy mumbled.

"What are you guys talking about?" Bon-Bon wondered.

"Ummm . . . Oh, yeah! I mean, do you really want to?" you asked him.

"Yes!" Freddy squealed, and he hugged you again.

"Guys!" Bon-Bon huffed.

"Oh, I told Freddy what you had told me, about how he loved me. Well, I told him that I loved him too, and I thought that we should be in a relationship. So, I guess we're a couple now," you explained.

"Ooh!" Freddy squealed.

"What?" Foxy exclaimed as he shot up.

"YES!" Bon-Bon cheered.

"About time," Ballora muttered.

"Nice," Foxy bragged quietly as he lay back down.

"Oh, also- You told him!" Freddy scolded Bon-Bon.

"What- I--" Bon-Bon started.

"You promised you wouldn't!" Freddy stuck out his lip, crossing his arms.

"You should be thanking me! If I hadn't told him, you guys wouldn't be a couple," Bon-Bon mentioned.

A wide grin spread across Freddy's face and he squealed, "We're a couple!"

"Jeez, you're a bipolar bear," Bon-Bon scoffed, and you chuckled at his pun.

"Ooh, I'm so happy, I could just--"

Freddy morphed into his grizzly bear form and picked you up in a big hug. He roared happily as he spun you around. He dropped onto the ground and sat down. You looked up and smiled at him, getting a big grin back. He squeezed you harder and you wheezed.

"Sorry," Freddy mumbled as he released you.

"It's fine," you assured him as you jumped up and wrapped your arms around his neck, hanging on to him.

Freddy smiled and wrapped his bear-ly arms around you. He licked you on the face and you giggled. He continued to do so, soaking your face with slobber. You laughed as you tried to push him away. He stopped and you wiped off your face with your sleeve. He set you down into his lap and grinned down at you.

"Freddy," you groaned.

Freddy took that as a thank you and nibbled on your ear. You giggled as you tried to move away from him, but he pinned you down and continued to tickle your ear. You titled your head and squished your ear to your shoulder. Freddy smirked and started on your other ear. You laughed and tried to squirm out from under him. Foxy yawned loudly as he stood up, causing you and Freddy to look up at him. Freddy looked down at you while you glared at Foxy. Freddy started to tickle you and you tensed.

"Ahaha!" you laughed.

You tried to push Freddy off you as he laughed childishly. You swatted at him, and he swatted back playfully. You heard Baby yawn and you looked back. Freddy dropped onto his feet as he looked as well, to see Ballora putting Baby down as she rubbed her eyes. Ballora looked up at you and Freddy.

"I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but, Freddy, you're making (Y/N) scream, and he could attract unwanted attention," Ballora said.

Freddy's ear fell back and you smirked. Freddy looked down at you and raised an eyebrow. You quickly pushed Freddy's arms to the side, and he fell on top of you. You gently placed your hands on his shoulders and leaned up close to him.

"I know how to make you scream," you purred maliciously.

Freddy's eyes widened and his mouth opened. He stood up and stepped back; you tried to follow him, but he pushed you down and waddled away. You raised an eyebrow as he turned into his human form and sat down, facing a tree. He put his face in his hands as he let out small squeaks. You stood up and looked at him. He started to rock back and forth as you walked towards him.

"Freddy?" you worried as you put a hand on his shoulder.

Freddy looked back at you and you saw that his face was as red as Baby's hair. You kneeled down to him and placed your hand on his cheek. He scrambled back into the tree and you smiled softly. You crawled towards him as his heart beat in his ears.

"I'm sorry, Freddy. I didn't mean to scare you. I was just joking. I would never hurt you," you assured him.

"What?" Freddy looked up.

"Yeah. Wait- I meant, 'make you scream,' as in I would 'torture' you. Ooh, you dirty bear," you chuckled, wagging your finger scoldingly.

"Wha- AHH!" Freddy put his hands over his head.

"No, no, no! I wasn't actually going to do it! I would never hurt you! I--"

"My innocence! Bon-Bon, this is your fault!" Freddy cried out.

"What- Don't blame this on me!" Bon-Bon objected, crossing his arms.

"Oh!" you laughed.

You chuckled as you sat between his legs. You moved his hands and smiled at Freddy, looking at him dreamily. You kissed the back of his hands and Freddy bit his lip, trying not to squeal. You pulled him with you as you stood up.

"I'm sorry, Freddy." You tilted your head up at him innocently.

"I'm sorry, too," Freddy mumbled, looking down at his feet.

"It's okay," you chuckled.

You cupped his cheek and pulled his face up to look up at you. You smiled softly and he gazed into your eyes. You moved your hand from his cheek and held his hands.

"Why don't we have breakfast?" Foxy groaned as he stepped off his hammock.

You glared back at Foxy and he raised an eyebrow. You frowned as Baby rubbed her stomach and stuck out her lip. You looked back at Freddy and got a shy shoulder shrug from him.

"Alright, I'll go find some food while you guys start a fire," you said as you started to walk.

"Um, how do we do that?" Ballora wondered.

"Right. How about you guys just gather some firewood?" you told them.

"Like, just, some sticks?" Foxy asked.

"Yeah, and just stack them over there," you said, pointing to the side of the right hammock, where Baby and Ballora slept.

Foxy and Ballora started to walk in opposite directions, looking around for sticks--Baby followed Ballora and helped her. Freddy looked at you and smiled sheepishly. Bon-Bon crawled up your leg and lay on your shoulder.

"Can- . . . Can I follow you?" Freddy stuttered shyly.

"Sure, boyfriend," you gushed.

"Eeh!" Freddy squealed as he ran up beside you.

You walked deeper into the woods and looked around. You watched as Freddy looked around himself in awe. You smirked softly at him and when his eyes got to you, he blushed.

"Wh-what?" Freddy stuttered.

"Nothing. I just think you look really cute," you admitted.

"Rea- . . . Really?" Freddy wondered as he blushed harder.

"Yeah. I love you, Freddy," you replied as you gently tangled your fingers between his.

"I-I love you too, (Y/N)," Freddy whispered sheepishly as he tried to avoid your eye contact.

Bon-Bon squealed quietly into Freddy's ear. You looked around, and out of the corner of your eye, you saw Freddy staring at you dreamily. You giggled and pulled him closer to you. His face flushed as you nudged his shoulder with yours and winked at him.

"Hey, guys, over there!" Bon-Bon exclaimed as he pointed ahead of you and Freddy.

"Sweet! We can have fish!" you cheered.

You pulled Freddy along with you as you ran up to the stream. You released Freddy's hand and kneeled down; Freddy whined quietly. You rolled up your sleeves and stuck your hand into it. The cold water ran between your fingers and you closed your eyes. Freddy sighed dreamily and you looked up. You turned towards him and saw him staring at you in awe, before he quickly looked away and blushed.

"Oooh!" Bon-Bon teased him.

Freddy frowned and you giggled. Freddy blushed brighter and looked at his feet. You sat down and pulled off your shoes, Freddy looking over at you and raising an eyebrow. You slid off your socks and stood up, to carefully step into the water--it went up to your knees. You shivered slightly.

"What are you doing?" Freddy asked.

"I'm getting breakfast. Fish," you told him, and you looked around.

You saw a fish and tried to grab it, but it slipped out of your hand. You followed it as you tried to catch it. Every time you had it, it managed to escape. You got mad and jumped towards it, gasping and sitting up as water engulfed your body. Freddy and Bon-Bon giggled and you glared at them.

"Why don't you try it," you growled.

"U-um, okay," Freddy mumbled.

Bon-Bon jumped off his shoulder as he morphed into a bear. Freddy cautiously stepped into the water. You huffed as Freddy looked around himself. He stopped and thrust his head into the water, then came up with a fish flopping in his mouth.

"Smart-ass," you mumbled as you stood up.

Freddy chuckled and walked up to you, setting the fish down. He shook his head and nudged your hand, lifting it up and looking at you. You smiled and scratched the top of his head. You sat on the grass in front of him, with your feet in the water. You hugged Freddy around the neck and he closed his eyes as he rested his head around your back.

"Hey, Freddy?" you wondered.

"Yeah?" he said as he pulled back.

"Can you turn into other things?" you asked.

"I don't know. What do you want me to turn into?"

"Mmm, what about a cute, little baby bear?"

You stood up and stepped back as Freddy followed you. He stepped out of the water and shook himself dry. You sat down and Freddy looked down at you. He closed his eyes and morphed into a small bear. You squealed as you picked him up and held him above your head.

"Ooh, you're so cute! Look at your chubby, little tummy!" You giggled.

You cradled him like a baby and wiggled your finger in his face. He grabbed it and hugged it. You kissed his forehead and he started to purr loudly as he squealed quietly. You set him in your lap and tickled his stomach, causing Freddy to laugh and try to swat your hands away.

"What about . . . a tiger!"

Freddy rolled over and crawled out of your lap. He sat down, facing you, and closed his eyes, to turn into a large tiger. Your eyes widened as he let out a bellowing roar and you grinned from ear to ear as he gazed into your eyes. You stood up and he jumped onto your shoulders. He sneezed when you kissed his nose. Freddy rubbed his cheek against yours and you smiled. He licked your face and you pulled your head back in disgust.

"It's like sandpaper," you shuddered.

"Sorry," Freddy mumbled.

"Turn into a wolf!" Bon-Bon suggested.

Freddy jumped down and did as he said, the top of his wolf head as high as your belly button. You kneeled down to him and held his head. He licked you and you jerked your head back. He laughed and jumped onto you, causing you to fall back. He licked you more and you laughed, pushing him back. He stuck his butt in the air and wagged his tail. You mimicked howling and he lifted his head and let out a husky howl. You sat up and scratched his ear; you giggled as his leg kicked the ground repeatedly. He rolled over and you rubbed his stomach. You sat back. He raised his head to look at you, rolling over and turning towards you.

"I love you," you sang quietly as you closed your eyes and put your forehead against his.

His tail wagged side to side. You chuckled as you pulled away from him. His ears fell back and he whimpered. You kissed him, then grinned, standing up.

"We need more fish," you murmured.

"I've got them!" Freddy bragged as he morphed into a bear and jumped into the water.
