Dead (Chapter Twenty-Nine)

The police officer got in his car as Jade closed the door. She turned to glare at Richard, but he was nowhere to be seen. She looked in the kitchen, then in the living room; he wasn't there. She opened the door to the bathroom--wasn't there either. She opened the bedroom door and gasped as she saw you holding your hand over Richard's mouth.

"Let me explain," you spoke softly as you let Richard go.

"No, you cannot tell them," Baby snapped.

"What do you mean?" you asked her.

"Who are you talking to?" Richard growled as he stood in front of Jade.

"Nobody," you mumbled.

"You cannot tell them, they will ruin this," Baby insisted.

"But if I don't, they'll just tell the police," you objected.

"You're fucking insane!" Richard bellowed.

"No, I'm not," you protested.

"What are we supposed to do, then?" Foxy snapped.

"I don't know," Baby quavered.

"Get the police," you mumbled.

"What?" Richard griped.

"What are you doing?" Freddy worried.

"I confess to my crimes. Call the police," you admitted.

"Jade, go see if that officer is still out there," Richard told her, not taking his eyes off you.

"No! You can't do this!" Freddy pleaded as Jade walked down the hall.

"What else am I to do?" you asked him.

"Hide." Freddy waited.

"I'm not like you guys. I can't do this." You sighed.

"Where is he?" you heard the police officer ask.

"In here!" Richard yelled as he stepped out of the doorway.

You put your hands up as the police officer turned the corner. He put away his gun and walked towards you. You turned around and put your hands on your head. He patted you down, checking for any weapons. You didn't fight him as he grabbed your hands and handcuffed you.

"You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say, can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you?" the officer said.

"Yes," you stated.

"With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?" the officer spoke.

"No, sir," you replied.

"Guys?" Freddy objected.

"What are we supposed to do?" Foxy wondered.

"I-I don't know, but we have to do something," Freddy pleaded.

The officer walked you down the hallway and out the door. Freddy followed closely behind you and the rest followed him. The policeman opened the back door to his cruiser and pushed you in. You sat still as the police officer walked onto the porch.

"Thank you," he said to Jade and Richard.

"Anything to make the world a safer place," Richard gushed.

"Hey, could you guys--maybe--take it easy on him. I mean, he's homeless, so he kinda had a good reason for stealing," Jade murmured.

"There's never a good reason for breaking the law," the policeman stated.

"Right," Richard added.

"Anyways, I've got to get him to the station. See ya, now. And thank you, again," the officer said as he walked off the porch.

"Happy to help! Bye!" Richard exclaimed and Jade punched him in the arm.

Jade closed the front door, and the policeman got into the car. Freddy panicked as the car started to back up.

"We need to follow him," Freddy said.

"How?" Foxy asked.

". . . We fly," Freddy replied as he morphed into a small bird that had colors identical to his animatronic ones.

"That sounds lame," Foxy sneered as he too morphed into a bird--with colors coordinating with his animatronic ones.

Ballora and Baby did the same, turning into blue and red birds with white legs. Bon-Bon sat on Freddy's back, and Freddy flew up as the car turned onto the trail. The rest followed him as the car started to drive off.

"You may get off easier for confessing. But I wouldn't count on it," the officer said, looking at you in the rear-view mirror.

"That makes me feel better," you sneered sarcastically.

"Eh. So, what's your name?" he asked.

"(Y/N) (Y/L/N)," you stated blankly.

"My name's Todd," Todd said.

"Um, hello, Todd?" you mumbled questioningly.

"Question: you don't happen to be the son of (Y/M/N) and (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N)?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Ooh, bummer."

"What?"

"Oh, your parents died in a car crash about a week ago," he said, as if it wouldn't crush your soul.

"What?" you uttered weakly, your breath catching in your throat.

"Yeah," he muttered.

You stared at the back of his seat as you tried to register what he had told you. Your heartbeat quickened, and not in the good way. You swallowed a lump in your throat as your head became fuzzy.

"Just stay in here, for now," Todd said as he guided you into the small cell.

You shuffled to the bench that was against the wall. You stared down at the floor as Todd locked the cell and walked off. You pulled your legs up to your chest and hugged them. Setting your head in between your knees, you looked at the wall.

"Psst," you heard someone say.

You lifted your head and looked around. You became curious when you didn't see anyone.

"Up here," you heard them again, whisper above you.

You looked up and saw a bird peeking at you in a barred windowsill. The bird flew down and landed on your knee. You stared at the bird and it tweeted happily. It seemed to have something wrapped around its neck.

"Hiya!" Bon-Bon exclaimed as he lifted his head from behind the bird.

"Bon-Bon? What are you doing here? And why are you riding a bird?" you wondered.

"It's Freddy," Bon-Bon told you.

"Oh. Where are the rest?"

"Up here," Foxy said above you.

You looked up and saw three more birds looking down at you from the window. Freddy tweeted and tilted his head; you looked down at him. His wing came towards your face and he wiped a tear off of your cheek.

"What's wrong?" he asked sadly.

You opened your mouth to say something, but all that came out was a whimper. Tears trailed down your cheeks as you sobbed quietly. Freddy flew back and morphed into his human body. He sat down next to you and you pulled him towards you. You hugged him tightly as he wrapped his arms around you.

"What is it?" Freddy mumbled.

"They're dead," you sobbed.

"Who?" Freddy asked.

"My parents," you squeaked.

Freddy's eyes widened as you gripped onto him tighter. He rubbed your back and kissed you on the top of the head. Bon-Bon jumped onto your shoulder and nudged your cheek. Foxy, Baby, and Ballora, decided to give you some space, as they remained in the windowsill.

"Please, don't be sad. I don't like it," Freddy pleaded.

"They're gone," you wept.

"You died, and you're not gone. They could still be around. What about that?" Freddy assured you.

"I don't know." You sniffled.

Freddy stood up and pulled you with him. He grabbed your hand and pulled you close to him. He turned in circles as he walked, pulling you around with him.

"What are you doing?" You snuffled.

"Cheering you up!" Freddy exclaimed.

He danced around with you. He extended his arms by his sides, holding you at one end of them. He twisted you back to him and grabbed your other hand, holding them on your hips opposite of them. He carefully twisted you back around to him. You giggled as you sniffed some. Freddy grinned as he grabbed your waist and pulled you up. He spun around as he held you above him, and you laughed.

"There we go!" Freddy cheered, laughing.

You laughed as Freddy put you down and pulled you around with him. You two spun around, all the while, laughing happily. Freddy then quickly pulled you closer to him and swayed his hips, moving yours with his. He wrapped his arms around you and looked down at you, grinning goofily. You looked back at him and smiled.

"What is your plan?" Freddy asked you.

"I-I don't know," you mumbled.

"That's okay," Freddy gushed as he pulled your head to his chest.

You closed your eyes as Freddy slowly rocked side to side. You wrapped your arms around his lower back and he looked over at Bon-Bon. Bon-Bon put up his thumbs and Freddy blushed. Bon-Bon fanboyed quietly as you giggled into Freddy's chest.

"I love you, Freddy," you mumbled.

"Huh?" Freddy squealed; Bon-Bon fainted dramatically.

"I . . . Nothing," you said.

Freddy pulled away and you looked up at him. He pushed a strand of hair behind your ear and you stuck out your bottom lip. You smiled as he kissed you on the forehead. He pulled you to the bench and you sat down and looked up at him as he hovered above you. Freddy closed his eyes and grabbed both your hands, kissing the back of them. He slowly dropped them and stepped back. He shifted back into a bird and flew onto your knee. You ran your finger down his spine and he quivered.
