Funhouse
3rd Person
The last place she wanted to be was at her ex’s house for a Halloween party. Colette dragged her here for the party, “Come on it won’t be that bad you won’t even notice that he’s here and if anything I’ll be with you the whole time.” she said to her when she tried to argue with Colette about it. Yeah, fucking right Colette left her right as they got there. Slowly she entered the home once she did she bumped into the last person she expected to see.
“Nikki! I can’t believe you came! I’m so glad to see you!” The owner of the voice hugged her, and she had a slight smell of beer on her breath, but Nikki didn’t care.
“Hey Ricky, I’m glad to see you here too but have you seen Colette?” Ricky shakes her head but doesn’t leave Nikki’s side, she pulls her away from the front door and towards the kitchen. “Ricky, what are you doing?”
“Nikki you're so uptight, so I brought you to the beer. Just drink some, please? For me?” She sticks out her lower lip out and starts to give her famous puppy dog eyes to her former best friend. Nikki doesn’t budge; she’s been through a lot, she doesn’t want to do it again. “Oh come fucking on Nikki don’t be such a buzzkill, one drink won’t make it all come back. I miss the old you, the one where this was her scene, the one who didn’t have to buzz kill. I just want the party Nikki, I want that back, and I know you do too.” Ricky all rushed to her hold the drink out to her to take, her red nails popped out on the green cup. Nikki shook her head and started to turn away when she heard her say something. “The hell Nikki, what are you? Chicken?” Nikki whipped around to face that her black hair swung around and hit her in the face.
“Ricky what did you say?”
“Yeah, Nikki I called you a chicken what are you gonna do about that.” She mocked to her.
“Nobody calls me a chicken.” Nikki growled out before taking the drink out of her hand and drank the whole thing in one gulp.
“Hell yeah, that’s my Nikki! Come on let’s fix you up a bit, you look like you’ve never been to a party before.” Ricky told her as she dragged her to the bathroom.
Nikki sighed knowing this was going to be a long night. Almost everyone at this party knew she was a hot head and knew how to use it against her, especially Ricky. Once they reached the bathroom, Ricky threw her onto the toilet seat. She then pulls out a makeup kit from under the sink and leaves the bathroom for a minute to come back with a Halloween outfit for her to wear. Even though it was a Halloween party, Nikki didn’t bother to dress up because she didn’t know she was going until Colette showed up at her door wearing a Swat girl costume and told her to look presentable because they were going to a Halloween party. Being in proper lighting Nikki finally got a good look at Ricky, she was wearing a nurse costume, well more like a slutty nurse but what nurse Halloween costume wasn't slutty. Most likely a child's one and even though Ricky wishes she was small and skinny enough to wear a child costume she isn't. Her blonde hair was down but in loose curls instead of her straight hair that she usually sports. Her makeup was light mostly eyeliner and some light pink lipstick, it didn't take away how pretty she is. Nikki has always been jealous of her natural good looks, she always had to look and be perfect in order to top her. Although looking at her now, she was definitely hot and Nikki was instantly jealous.
“Nikki?” Hearing her name knocked her out of her jealous thoughts. She saw the costume that Ricky brought for her it was again a sexy costume but this costume Nikki remembered because Ricky had worn it the year before. A sexy black cat costume that would fit her perfectly because the two were the exact same built. A thought then crossed her mind, why would Ricky have a costume at Theo's- her ex's- house? |f she spilled something on her outfit, which never would happen, she'd have a backup costume but not one she wore the year before. It's not like she brought it just in case for Nikki because no one knew she was coming or back for that matter expect for Colette. So the only logical answer would be that it got moved here with other clothes and things. 'Welp at least I know who is dating my ex.' Nikki though in her head a little miffed at how it was her ex-best friend.
A few minutes later Nikki was dressed and ready to rock this house, well that’s at least what Rikki told her, she didn’t feel like was though. She stepped out of the bathroom, and once her foot hit the hardwood, the click of her high heel filled her ears. The noise slightly startled her she hasn’t heard anything so sharp in months. She walked to the kitchen and on her way there she felt everyone's eyes on her. She heard whispers too.
“Who is that?”
“What is she wearing?”
“Looks like something Ricky would wear.”
“That’s not Ricky though, she just left the bathroom. Her hair is not blonde like Ricky’s either.”
“I know who that is, I thought she moved though.”
“Who, Theo?”
“That’s Nikki.”
“Theo, no it’s not, she’s dead.”
“She looks very much alive to me.”
“Nikki,” Theo called to her once she had gotten close enough. At this point, the whole has stopped to see if this person really is Nikki. Knowing that all the attention is on her, she stopped turned to the whole crowd that was staring at her, and proceed to wink then blow a kiss to them. She then continued walking to the kitchen and grabbed a shot that someone handed her. Lucky for Nikki she didn’t have to worry about someone spiking her drink. Everyone knew not to spike her drinks. Even if they didn’t think it was her, they didn’t want to risk it. Nikki still knew that everyone was staring at her, they were able to see into the kitchen. She smiled and drank the shot, then two more, then another two, once she hit her fifth one, everyone knew who it was.
“Hell yeah! It’s Nikki!” Half the placed yelled, she just smiled and walked to one of Theo’s friends. It was Chase, his mouth hanging open at her in awe. She’s known that he’s always had a huge crush on her. She gets real close to his face and says,
“Chase, honey, close your mouth, or else you’ll drool on the floor.” Once Nikki said that he instantly closed his mouth and his face flushed, and it’s not from the beer he’s drinking. She backs away from Chase and smiles at the crowd. “Well hello everyone. Long time no see. I would say I missed you all, but I gotta say I didn’t. I am not dead as you have noticed, even though that would be a great Halloween trick but I’m sorry to disappoint, I’m very much alive. Now everyone stop gawking at me and let’s dance this is a party.” Everyone cheered, Nikki maybe be a completely heartless bitch sometimes, but everyone loved her.
It was a short time later when Nikki finally ran into Colette. They bumped into each other when Colette was heading in from the back porch, Colette’s Swat girl costume was roughly thrown on, and her fiery red hair was damn. Nikki could tell she went into the hot tub that was in the backyard.
“Oh shit sorry. I didn’t mean to run into you,” Colette had said to Nikki not bothering to look at her.
“Oh, it’s no problem,” Nikki said to Colette causing her to look up.
“Oh damn Nikki, I almost didn't recognize you. How you doing?” Colette asked her.
“Well, I ran into Ricky so I got an outfit change, and the beer here is amazing.”
“Nikki, you're not supposed to drink.”
“Well Colette, it's too late.” With that, she walked off from her friend, not in the mood to get lectured. She went back to the living room and bumped into Chase.
“Oh hey, Chase,” Nikki said once she saw who it was.
“Hey Nikki, I’m so glad that you’re here. I'm even more glad that I ran into you,” he said to her with a giant smile on his face. She smiled back and then started to walk off, but before she could, he grabbed her arm.
“Wait, Nikki, I wanted to know if you wanted to go upstairs and have some fun?” He whispered into her ear. Nikki didn’t know what to think, she wasn’t sure, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw Theo staring straight at them. At that moment she knew what she had to do.
“Sure Chase, I’d love to.” He nodded, and they walked up the stairs, many people saw them leave, but no one gave it a second thought. Who cares what people do at a party, it's a party they do whatever they want.
After sending some time with Chase, Nikki was carefully and quietly sneaking out of the room, her heels were in her hands. She barely closed the door, so that some of the noise would be blocked for the sleeping Chase before Nikki notice someone was standing right next to her.
------
It was never her intention to scare her necessarily, nor did she really want to go up to her Ex’s ex-girlfriend, but she needed someone to talk to and she isn’t sure where her twin Chase went to so she had to do the next best thing. She wasn’t entirely sure on how to approach her at this moment in time, it didn’t really help that she was watching her sneak out of a bedroom, holding her heels to make sure she wasn’t disturbing anyone. She didn’t realize that she hadn’t seen her standing there, she jumped slightly and almost dropped her heels. Her usual resting bitch face was replaced with shock, then instantly with disgust, by thinking she had eased dropped on the two of them having sex. Then almost as instantly as before her face changed back into her resting bitch face. She raised one of her eyebrows in questioning at her, wanting to know what the hell she wants.
“I’m so sorry,” she gushed to her, she’s not entirely sure why she’s apologizing. Maybe it was because of the slight eavesdropping perhaps it was because it was about what she was about to say or even about what she did when she left. There was a real possibility that she had no reason at all to apologize, who knows, but she felt it was needed though.
There wasn’t much of a reaction out of the other girl. She just shrugged her shoulders and started to walk away. She didn’t have to think twice before she grabbed her arm and pulled her into the closest open room. Which happened to be the room she would sleep in when she wasn’t in the mood to sleep with Theo.
“What the hell do you want Ricky?!” Nikki yelled at her absolutely furious at her for standing outside the room and scaring the shit out of her and also pulling her into her bedroom, all she wanted to do was have some fun.
“Theo, he just cheated on me,” she told Nikki with a sigh. Nikki just looked at her like she was crazy, annoyed about what was just said to her.
“Okay well sucks for you and I should care why?” She said to Ricky crossing her arms.
“Because you're my best friend, I just wanted to tell you,” Ricky said voice quivering.
“Well I'm no longer your best friend so don’t bother bringing me into this crap again,” Nikki said to her, turning on her heel and headed for the door.
“I also want to get revenge on him, and we all know you’re the god of revenge.” That one little thing Ricky had said to her stopped her in her tracks, of course, she wanted to have a little revenge on Theo he was an ass after all.
“More like a goddess, let me think about it for a minute,” Nikki told her, she started to walk out of the room. She could hear the music from downstairs, she looked around saw that the hallway was empty. Holding her heels in her hand, she decided to be a dork for once in her life, and dance, she danced like nobody was watching. She forgot about Ricky in the other room, she had left to room and caught Nikki dancing.
“Nikki? What are you doing?” Ricky asked clear confusion in her voice. Nikki froze, she got busted, but she always has a way of getting out situations.
“Ummm, I’m dancing the night away,” she responded, probably not her best response but she didn’t care.
Ricky just cocked an eyebrow in confusion, before she asked her something. “Can I dance the night away with you?” Nikki nodded slowly as Ricky walked over to her and started to dance. Together they danced like no one was watching. They danced around the house, what they imagined to be an empty house. They danced around that abandoned house. They stopped dancing like idiots and started to walk towards the party. They got past one of the doors before they noticed something that made them stop dead in their tracks. It was a photo, a photo from the year before, it was the three of them. Ricky on the right, Nikki one the left and directly in the middle was Theo, both arms wrapped around them even though he was dating Nikki and secretly cheating on her with Ricky shortly after this photo was taken. The two girls just stared at the photo anger slowly building up inside of them. All Nikki could think is that he’s the reason that she snapped, that she got sent to that dark place for most of the summer. Ricky was mad at him because of all the little things that he did, that he sent her best friend away that he fucked her up, so many things that he did.
Precisely at the same time, they both smacked the bottom of the frame causing the photo to shake and fall to the ground, breaking the glass that covers the frame to spray all over the floor. They both looked at the next picture, It was Theo, just him, posing for a photo in front of a tree, who knows what for. Nikki lifts her hand up and smacks it off of the wall. This too falls to the ground glass flying everywhere, just barely missing the girls. Ricky looked to her left and saw another photo of Theo, she smacked it off, the dark oak frame cracks when it hits the ground. The two girls looked at each other and smiled, one of those creepy, scary smiles, the smile that if seen in a horror movie, they would know they’re about to die.
Nikki turned around and came face to face with a medium sized picture of Theo and her. She just stared at it for a minute before she carefully lifted the picture off the wall. She held it in her hands before flipping the frame over and started to take off the back piece of the frame off. With very delicate fingers she lifted the picture out of the frame. She ripped the picture perfectly down the middle splitting her and Theo apart. She put her half of the picture back in the frame and carefully put it back on the wall. Acting like she never messed with the picture. Nikki took Theo’s half of the picture and crumpled it up into a little ball and tossed it on the floor. She then pulled out a little thing of matches from her bra, that she snagged the matches from Theo’s room. She lit a match on fire and tossed it directly onto Theo’s crumpled little face.
Nikki turned and faced Ricky who’s just stared at her in awe. Ricky wasn’t really sure what to think about what she just witnessed. Nikki continued to stare at her, she soon started to giggle, a creepy horror movie giggles. As if Ricky wasn’t scared enough Nikki’s laugh slowly started to get louder until it echoed off the walls of the hallway. The laughing continued until it almost suffocated the room. Abruptly Nikki stopped laughing, and the hall got eerily quiet, Ricky just stared at her lost in what happened. Before she could even blink an ear piercing scream echoed off of the hallway walls unable to make it downstairs because of such the loud music. Almost as quickly as it started it stopped, the hallways were dead silent again, the whole house seemed to freeze, the talking, the music and every noise made at a party has stopped. The sound came back into the house when Nikki took a step forward towards Ricky. Ricky was slightly frighten and unsure of what Nikki has gone through during her time away, but she let her take her hands and spin. She spun them around the hall just barely missing the glass that littered the floor. The two spun and spun until Nikki stepped wrong and fell to the floor bringing Ricky down with her.
Ricky sat on the floor unmoving, just staring at Nikki who had her head down and her long black hair was covering her face. Slowly her giggles started to fill the room again, her giggles make Rickyi feel even more uncomfortable than she already was. Nikki slowly starting looking up as she giggled, once she locked her brown eyes on Ricky’s bright blue ones her giggles turned into loud laughs, Ricky stood up and ran. She ran down the hall and down the stairs all the was to Theo who had realized what he done and apologized to her, Ricky too scared to fight, took the apology and silently cried into his chest scared for her life.
Nikki finally stopped laughing once Ricky had ran from her she started to laugh even more. She was so glad that Ricky was finally away from her, that was kind of her plan to scare her away. She stood up and put her heels back on, glad that she didn’t get a piece of glass stuck in her foot. Once she took a step forward the sound of glass underfoot could be heard and how glad she was that she put on her heels. Nikki started to walk down the hall when a picture caught her eye. It was Theo and her, posing for photos before their junior prom. She stopped in front of the photo a small smile on her face as she thought back to that dance. She was such a happy girl then, a genuine smile on her face for photos, she hasn’t smiled like that in a long time.
The small smile that was once plastered on her face soon turned into a sneer, evil and twisted full of hatred. Before she could think twice about what she was doing, she took the frame off the wall and threw down the photo. The sound of breaking glass filled the hall, and it echoed off the walls. Shattered glass laid all across the floor and a wooden frame that had snapped in the corner laid on the floor. Small pieces of glass covered the old photo, the one happy smile that she held, it all shattered on the floor, just like Nikki did when everything went to hell.
She looked at the photo again, her face completely covered with little pieces of glass, while Theo’s side laid almost unharmed. The chunk of glass that held over Theo stayed perfectly intact, unharmed as if almost on purpose that the world was messing with her. His smile that in all reality was a smirk was looking up at her, taunting her, pulling her into the deep dark spiral that she just only once got out of. She refused to let herself go back into that darkness. With one heavy step forward she put her black heel right through the glass and his face. Nikki looked over her right shoulder to look over at the photo she had burned merely a few minutes earlier. Once half of a photo it has been reduced to nothing just a tiny little pile of ash, that will never see the light of day again.
Nikki remembered the times of Theo and her, hanging out in his room playing video games. Both of them being super competitive, and when one lost, it was the battle of fighting off the tickles. She remembered the time she was about to crush him in a game, and he did the only he could think of at that time. He tickled her. He tickled her and tickled her until her face was red from laughing, tears streaming down her face begging him to stop. He did but only when where ever he tickled was red and slightly itchy almost like a rash. Nikki shook her head at the thoughts that were filling her mind and the things that happened before only turned her into something dark and got her sent away. The last thing that she wanted was for it all to come flowing back.
As much as she wanted the thoughts gone they kept flowing back one after another. Slowly turning her and everyone and everything into something else, something dark and evil. It was changing darkening sinking everything into a hole a dark hole. Everything in her head started to speak at once very slowly but gradually got faster and louder to the point that they were screaming and saying things too fast that she couldn’t even think properly. Nikki clutched her head in pain wanting everything to stop making the screaming go away. She crouched to the floor putting one knee into little shards of glass ripping the costume she was wearing and starting to tear up her knee. She didn’t even notice. The screaming and the pain turned into to much that Nikki let out a blood-curdling scream that anyone would have heard if they weren’t all drunk out of their minds. Once she let out that mighty cry everything stopped, no sound coming from anywhere even the screaming in her head stopped, she sighed a breath of relief.
Nikki stood up slowly and more glass broke under her foot, slowly the music started up again but at a low volume getting no high then what it’s at. Slowly one of the doors in the hallway opened, and light music filled the hall, then the slow creaks of an old bike fill the hall as well. The creator of the noises comes into the hall, it’s a little tricycle that is making the creaking noise and a small little radio attached to the back, quietly playing what seems to be carnival music. There was a little boy on the tricycle dressed in a light blue t-shirt and little brown shorts his little blue shoes are resting on the pedals no longer pedaling the tricycle. The boy was looking down at the handlebars making it hard for Nikki to see his face. What she could see of his is that he has light blonde hair that clearly covers his face and deathly pale skin, almost as it was completely white.
Nikki took another step closer to see and talk to the little boy. Slowly stepping not to frighten the boy but she only got a few steps closer before the boy started to pedal again. He spun in a circle pedaling away from her so she couldn’t see him just his back but as she stepped closer, he turned around and quickly pedaled straight towards Nikki. He almost hit her, but before he could, he took a sharp turn around her body. She gasped slightly frighten that she thought she was about to be hit. The little boy started to ride his tricycle around Nikki, circling her in. He continued to go faster and faster still keeping his head down, she still couldn’t see his face fully, but she could see bits and pieces of it. His face was completely white, while his ears, hands, and legs were more of a tan color, he also seemed to have another color on his face that she isn’t able to tell due to him moving too fast. These observations that she noticed about him left Nikki completely baffled. Abruptly he stopped directly in front of her merely only a foot or so away. His head was still down but slowly he started to lift it to look at Nikki. He lifted his head fully up and cracked a large creepy smile at her, he continued to stare at her unblinking his eyes burning to her.
Nikki stared at the boy as he bore his eyes into her, unblinking and bright blue. She finally understood why he face was white while other parts of him were tan. He had his face painted, white covered all of his face stopping just before his ears, the paint continued up to his hairline to a little bit past his chin, not fully covering his neck. The other color that covered his face that Nikki couldn’t figure out earlier was red, and it covered his face in some weird spots. One was on his nose to act as the red nose. There was red under his eyes and large round red paint on each of his cheeks. The young boy held a smile that would put a pageant girl to shame, but unlike most pageant girls it was not a cute, sweet innocent smile. The smile the young boy held was one that was dark and gloomy, a look of someone insane would hold, the same smile Nikki had possessed earlier, but at this point in time, the last thing the would show across her face was a smile.
Nikki had realized three sickening things at that point in time, one that the little boy in front of her was, in fact, a clown, she happened to have a fear of clowns. She was one to always have a fear of clowns but what didn’t help that fear as a little girl she had gotten trap in the hall of mirrors and of all people they could have to send they sent in the only clown at the carnival. The young boy in front of her seemed to know that she was terrified of clowns, and he only seemed to want to tease her more but stayed put not daring to move. The second sickening feeling that Nikki held was that she knew this little boy. The little boy happened to come out of the room that Chase is sleeping in or if what she hoped was correct, should be sleeping in. He also had eerie similarities to Chase, with his light blond that always seemed to hang low across his forehead. The bright blue eyes matched too, and Nikki distinctly remembers Chase telling her when he was a kid he loved to ride his little tricycle. Being slightly creeped out Nikki started to back away slowly but every time she did, who she thought to be Chase would pedal forward some. The third sickening feeling that Nikki had that if this was, in fact, Chase that means the whole downstairs has turned into some form of a clown, and oh hell how this place is gonna burn to the ground.
Nikki spun on her heel and begian to run down the hall, she ran even though she could hear the little tricycle squeak as it tried to keep up with her. She got to the grand staircase not even panting and jumped down five of the stairs just barely out of reach of the little boy. He took a screeching stop at the top of the staircase, and once he saw that she was out of reach, he sneered at her. She smirked at him and begain making her way down the grand staircase. Once she was able to see the downstairs she stopped in her tracks, everyone looked like the party theme was clowns, some of the people had turned into younger versions of themselves, some were even older than they actually were.
Nikki stood in the middle of the staircase frozen with fear, she looked over to the front door hoping that it wasn’t being blocked by clowns. The door was being blocked by not by clowns, the people who were blocking the door two men, dressed in black shirts that had a glittery Ferris wheel on the side the rest leading to the back. On the front of the shirts had the carnival title written on it in white curly letters. The two men had familiar faces to Nikki but weren’t quite able to place them, she dismissed the thought that she knew them and tried to remember another way to leave Theo’s house. She remembered that the basement held a window big enough for Nikki to fit through. She started down the stairs more but stopped once she noticed how many clowns she would have to go through. Noticing that there were fewer clowns towards the front door than the basement she decided to go to the front door. Even though she would have to get through the two men, she’s gotten into enough fights to get past the two. As she finished descending the stairs she had reached her first clown, it continued to dance ignoring her. She continued to walk past the clown, she quietly whispered to herself one single line over and over. “This is a funhouse, this is a funhouse.”
She got closer to the men, and once she got close enough, Nikki was able to read what was on their shirts. “Welcome to your worst nightmare Nikki.” it read in the curly white lettering. It made Nikki a little uneasy, but she continued forward but stopped in her tracks once she remembered where she'd seen these men. Even though she’s probably had a little bit too much to drink she still can remember these men, she saw they everyday for a little over four months. She spun on her heel, but the slight squeak of her heel caught their attention. Nikki started to run towards the basement still having to go in between clowns, but she was more scared of the men than the clowns. As she ran, she quietly whispered to herself over and over again. “This used to be a funhouse, this used to be a funhouse.” This fun house party has turned into something horrid and evil. Everything in the house has turned from something fun to something evil from her worst nightmare of the men to all the evil clowns that fill the house blocking her for every which way in.
Nikki was able to reach the basement before the men could get her but she ran into far too many clowns for her liking. She locked the basement door behind her and grabbed a piece of wood to block it off a little more, hoping that it will prevent the clowns from coming in and the men from taking her back to that dark place. Nikki went to the window that she’s entered and escaped many times before. Escaping for hopefully her last time she makes her way out of the window and onto the front lawn. Any sanity Nikki had was long gone from her mind, her mind started to cloud and blur even more than it already had and was making any dumb idea seems logical. She started to walk down the street to the closest gas station, muttering the same little thing over and over again. “I’m gonna burn it down down down, I’m gonna burn it down.” She knows that she is ten blocks away from the gas station so each time she walks a block, she counts it down.
Walking down Theo’s street, she quietly says to herself, “Ten.”
Hits the next street, “Nine.”
Stopping at the begginning of the next street to check a heel, “Eight.”
Wrapping her arms around herself, “Seven.”
Taking off her heels, “Six.”
Jogging away from a slightly scary person, “Five.”
Wishing that the gas station was closer, “Four.”
Feet starting to get cold from the ground, “Three.”
Putting the heels back on, “Two.”
Almost there, lights in sight, “One.”
Standing in front of the gas station, “Fun.”
Nikki walked to the gas station her heels clicking on concrete, as she walked past one of the cars then man inside stuck his head out the window and wolf whistled at her. She gave him the finger and continued to walk ignoring the other people that stared at her. She entered the little store and grabbed a couple of things before going to the front counter. Nikki put the jacket, a bag of chips, a bottle of water and she also put a lighter on the counter. As the guy started to ring her up, she asked if she was able to buy something else here.
“Am I able to buy a few tanks of gas for my car? My older sister and I broke down a few blocks back on our way home from a party.” The guy nodded at her and told her to give him a minute, and he would get what you needed, as he rung up the lighter he gave her a weird look.
“My sister dropped her lighter in a puddle, she always smokes when she’s nervous, it’s such a nasty habit for an 18-year-old don't you think?” The man nodded his head at her and finished ringing her up, he adds how many gallons she was planning to buy to the bill. Nikki handed him the money, and she was glad she pickpocketed a couple of kids at the party or she wouldn't have had enough money. The man handed her the bag and told her to wait here while he grabs what she needs.
He came back a few minutes later and handed Nikki her container of gasoline. He told her to be careful with it and stay safe walking back to her car before she left the man gave her a can of pepper spray. He told her it's a gift for a nice young girl and her sister, he told her to have a nice night, and she thanked him as she walked out the door. Nikki put on the jacket she just bought and started her walk back towards Theo’s place.
Nikki got back to the house a short time later, she hid all the things she bought in a bush near the house. She walked up to the front door and put her ear to the door, listening for the sound of music, which wasn’t there when she walked up to the house. When she had her ear against the door, wasn’t able to hear anything inside, confused she opened the front door. Or at least she tried to. The door didn’t budge when she tried to open it. Nikki started knocking on the front door trying to get someone’s attention inside, but all she heard was her knocks echoing off of the locked door. She knocked a few more times and right before she knocked again, the sound of laughter filled her ears. She heard the laughing again, very faintly inside the house, the laughter she definitely heard before but she couldn’t place her finger on who’s it was.
Nikki went to the side of the house where the window that she escaped out of earlier and crawled back through. She went back up the stairs to the basement and took off the barrier then unlocked the door. Expecting to hear the loud music or the people trying to talk over the music but once Nikki stepped out of the basement, she heard none of that. She continued into the house her heels echoed in the house as they hit the wooden floors. Nikki stood in the living room waiting for the laughter to fill her ears again. A small laugh filled the large room, she turned around trying to find the source, but all she saw was a streak of blonde fly behind one of the doorways to the kitchen. Nikki ran to the doorway but stopped in her tracks.
It was a little girl that stood in the kitchen her back facing Nikki, once she had heard Nikki enter the room she turned around slowly. The little girl had blonde hair and bright blue eyes, her face was covered with white makeup just like the little Chase from earlier. The little girl giggled and walked up towards Nikki as she walked her little shoes lit up with each step. Once she was a foot away from Nikki, she stopped walking. Nikki was able to notice small details about her like how her little red nails matched her little red dress while her black shoes lit up with each step. Her hair was in pigtails which were held with long black ribbons. Nikki remembered that Ricky had red nails for her costume today and Nikki came to a sicking realization.
“Ricky?” Nikki asked the little girl looking down her. She smiled in response and with that Nikki had her suspicions confirmed. Little Ricky walked up to Nikki and yanked on her wrist pulling her to eye level.
“Look into my eyes, Nikki.” She said to her still holding her wrist, when Nikki wouldn’t look at her she used her other hand to grab her by the jaw and have her look directly at her. “I said look. Into. My. Eyes.” Nikki did as she was told and looked the young Ricky in the eyes.
Nikki’s first thought was that her bright blue eyes that were very dark compared to easily when they seemed to glow when she first saw her. Before she could even notice something different, everything seemed to change, and old memories flashed before Nikki. She tried to say something to make it stop but her voice got caught in her throat, she wanted it to end, but she just continued to stare. Soon it turned to be too much for her and with one jerk to the left with her head, she was able to free herself from young Ricky’s grip.
She was panting and almost sobbing, but at least it had stopped. The young Ricky looked at her and then giggled as she ran away. It took Nikki a minute to compose herself before she was able to get up off the floor. She turned around to leave the kitchen, but she was able to see the staircase from where she stood. On the staircase stood two children and Nikki glad there wasn’t anyone else there because the two children that stood on the stairs were Ricky and Chase holding hands. The little light that filled the house began to flicker before it went out, the only light in the house was the little flashes that came from both Ricky and Chase’s shoes. Nikki sucked in a breath and did a slight turn before she ran for the door, she’s never been happy to know this house like the back of her hand until know. She stopped at the front scrambling to feel the door handle so she could leave.
Nikki wasn’t able to find the door handle until two flashing lights showed up behind her casting a shadow over her. She turned to face the two, a look of pure terror on her face. She stood unmoving too stun to leave the house when she had the perfect escape. She swallowed her nerves and spoke to the kids, “What do you want?” Her voice shook slightly when she asked, but she held her ground.
“We want you to look into our eyes, Nikki.” The young Ricky replied while her twin nodded his head in agreement.
Nikki shook her head before she responded to the two of them, “You want me to look into your eyes so you can show me my darkest memories, don’t you?” The two nodded their heads a shark-like grin spread across their faces. Nikki shuddered but didn’t move from her spot, she was unlocking the door behind her back so the two of them wouldn’t see her trying to leave. She was able to unlock it, but before she threw open the door and ran, she said one last thing to the two, “I’d rather live out on the street, than in this haunted memory.” Nikki turned and swung the door open, slamming it close before the little kids could react.
She stumbled down the broad steps and almost fell before she was able to reach the gate of Theo’s house. She stopped to support herself on the gate before she walked to the curb to sit down. Nikki looked behind her up at the big house, in one of the windows, the curtain moved slightly just enough to see the two kids looking down at her. She sighed and sat down on the curb, all the memoirs that the two kids made her see are now stuck in her head.
Nikki remembers the day that Theo asked to move in with him She was ecstatic about how she would be able to leave her creepy ass apartment that she bought when her parents kicked her out. When Theo told her the news to shrieked and immediately called the movers. Nikki then called one of her old maids to help her around the house. The maid mentioned to her that the apartment seemed to be haunted. Being someone she's known for a long time and knows her shit, Nikki believed her, and the third call she made was to have someone take care of the evil in the apartment. On the second to last day of moving Nikki dragged her mattress out to the yard, and on the way out she bumped the table that Theo was working at. His house of cards, that he was building tumbled down.
Nikki rose from her spot on the curb and turned back to the house that held so many memories. She remembers the times that this house held parties and all things fun. How this house used to be a funhouse but now as she could see through the windows that it's full of evil clowns. They all stood staring at her, their eyes burning deep into her. She snarled up at the house, all the bad memoirs radiating off the large house. Nikki walked towards the bush with the all the things that she had bought from the gas station she walked to earlier. In the back of Nikki’s head, she has ten steps on how to make this house burn down. She cackled to herself and yelled out to the world as loud as she could. “I’m gonna burn it down, down, down!”
Nikki quietly sang to herself as she thought through her plan. “This used to be a fun house!” She looked up at the house and flipped off everyone in the house. “But now it’s full of evil clowns!” She yells up to one of the windows were the twins are looking down at her. “It’s time to start the countdown.” She quietly sang to herself again. “I'm gonna burn it down, down, down. I'm gonna burn it down!” Nikki yelled to the house seeing all the people in the windows disappear.
Step Nine, pour gasoline across the base of the house in the front.
Step Eight, pour gasoline on both sides of the house.
Step Seven, pour gasoline on the back of the house.
Step Six, pour gasoline all over the back porch.
Step Five, pour gasoline across the front porch.
Step Four, lock and barricade the back door.
Step Three, lock and barricade the front door.
Step Two, pour extra gasoline anywhere on the house.
Step One, flick on the lighter and throw it on the porch.
Step Fun, watch the fucker burn to the ground.
Nikki watched the house start to catch fire once she threw the flint into a small pile of gasoline. She remembers the day that she knew something was terribly wrong. Crawling through the doggy door wasn’t her plan for that day, but when she tried to enter through the front door, she was unable to. It was locked she attempted to use the key that Theo gave, but it didn’t fit. Nikki was pissed that Theo changed the locks when she was gone for a little over a day. When she went upstairs to Theo’s room, she had caught Ricky and Theo red-handed. Her screams and yells filled the air as she ran down the stairs.
She ripped off the drapes that were on the front window. Nikki ran to the kitchen throwing down plates having them lay all across the floor. Theo stood in the kitchen doorway looking at her with a sad expression on his face. He started to say something but not before Nikki cut him off. “You don’t have to worry about me anymore! I’ll leave and find a new place, but just be warned I will one day burn this fucker down.” Nikki ran out of the house and ended up at one of her hangouts. She drank everything they gave her, and before it got too late, she left and was caught wandering the streets. The officer who found her took her home to her parents. He told them he wouldn’t press charges if she were sent to rehab. So her parents did, four months later she’s back to where it all started.
Nikki stood in the front yard humming a quiet tune to herself. Do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do, do do do do da da da da, do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do, do do do do do do doo. She walked down the pathway of Theo’s house that was burning behind her. Nikki reached the sidewalk and smiled to herself. She sang at the top of her lungs, “This used to be a fun house, But now it's full of evil clowns, It's time to start the countdown, I'm gonna burn it down, down, down. This used to be a fun house, But now it's full of evil clowns, It's time to start the countdown, I'm gonna burn it down, down, down, I'm gonna burn it down!”
One of Theo’s neighbors had called the fire department about the smoke coming from Theo’s house. They came as quickly as possible but what they didn’t expect was to find, was a house full of teenagers engulfed in flames, most teens were screaming others most likely dead, and the last thing they expect to see was a teenage girl standing on the sidewalk singing to herself, smiling and smelling like gasoline. The police took the girl, who they realised was Nikki back to her house and told her parents that she needs mental diagnoses for the possibility of being insane. It was three days later that Nikki was sitting on her bed in the mental hospital. She was diagnosed as insane and was sent to live in the mental hospital for the rest of her life. In the fire, she had killed roughly under a hundred kids. Nikki sat on her bed thinking about what she’s done, she has no regrets, she smiled to herself and looked into the camera in her room.
“Happy Halloween Bitches.”
