Chapt. 3 ~ Being Friendly
(Y/n)'s POV
~ • ~
My school didn't start till a few weeks. I thought I was bored in my own home. Yet, I was terribly bored here. My job didn't start till a week, unfortunately.
Since I was bored, I went out. I figured I should explore the town, since I live here now. I should probably go shopping as well. I should also get one of those neat backpack purses, so it'll be easier to hold all my stuff.
As soon as I got into town, I felt a small figure grab my leg. I flinched and quickly looked behind me.
"HI MISS HUMAN!" I recognized that loud voice. It was one of Gaster's son's. Papyrus I believed he named him.
"Oh! Sweetheart what are you doing here alone?" I pick him up, which he welcomed. I looked around. I didn't see Gaster or Sans. I was freaking out a bit, what the heck was I supposed to do with a lost child?!
"I AM NOT ALONE! THE GREAT PAPYRUS IS NEVER ALONE! MISS GOAT LADY AND SANS ARE BACK THROUGH THE CROWD!" He exclaimed and pointed across the street. My eyes went wide.
"So you ran across the street to get to me?" He nodded and I gave him a disappointed and scared look. "Papyrus you can't do that! You could've gotten hurt! Let's go find Miss Goat Lady and your brother."
Glancing both ways, I waved my hand and crossed with Papyrus in my arms. I search through the crowd with him, which wasn't that crowded as people started going in their own directions.
"Oh dear! Your father is going to kill me! Papyrus dear! Where are you?!" I heard a woman's panicked voice. I go to find the source of the voice.
Soon finding a panicked goat-like woman. She had a nice purple dress on that had a symbol on it. She looked completely panicked. Almost crying.
So I approached, pausing when Papyrus nuzzles my shoulder. I've never really held a child or even been around one so I didn't really know how to react to things. I tap the lady on the shoulder.
"E-excuse me...? I believe he's under your care?" I said, Papyrus's hold on me tightened.
"Oh thank goodness! Come on Papyrus, you need to let the lady go!" She said, putting her arms out to take him.
"NO! THE GREAT PAPYRUS WANTS TO STAY WITH FATHER'S FRIEND!" He declared. I blushed darkly in embarrassment.
"Come on Papyrus! We're going to the store! Wait. Your father's friend?" She looked at me and smiled.
"You know Gaster?" Her smile was friendly and calming. I nodded.
"Uh... yeah. I met him yesterday and just talked with him this morning... I-is there a problem with that...?" I asked shyly, scared she'd snap at me because of my eyes.
"No not a problem at all! Gaster just doesn't befriend many humans." She said calmly. I nodded.
"A-also What store are you headed to? I'm not really doing anything..." I tried to think of a way to say let's abide to his fit in a way he wouldn't find it offensive.
"I-if the great Papyrus wants me to hang around, t-then we must abide to his order." I joke. She blinked for a second before laughing. Sans gave me a slight glare, clearly he didn't like me. Or at least didn't trust me.
"Alright." She hummed with a smile to which Papyrus shouted a 'yay'. So we went on our way. Papyrus refusing to be set down, claiming that that's how he should be held. And may I say, he really made himself comfortable.
Entering the store, then he wanted to be set down, so I went with his order. The boys lead the way and I talked with Toriel, who's name I just learned on the way.
"So do you like children?" She asked, I'm not sure if she really meant anything by it, but I shrugged.
"I-I don't know... I've never really been around kids. And I don't think about having any because I don't expect to get married or anything of the sort." I explained, she nodded.
"Well I couldn't understand why. You're absolutely beautiful." That made me blush. She gave me a friendly smile and continues speaking. I got a bit distracted, but when I came back to focus she asked a question.
"So how did you meet Gaster?" She asked, having a slight mischievous tone to her words. I shrugged.
"I-it was really awkward... I-I kind of lost control of my cart and hit his. S-shockingly he was really nice about it. H-he continued talking till he saw the time. Then my encounter this morning with him felt the same. I-I went to grab the handle and he grabbed it first... I didn't realize it was him till he told me to go in... then we got some coffee and talked."
She nodded throughout my rambles, with a pleased smiled on her face. It calmed me down a bit. I soon excused myself from the group and went to the purse section whilst the boys looked at toys. After 10 minutes of looking I found one I liked.
(Picture above)
I liked the renaissance-ish look to it, if I could describe it as so. I made my way back to them, but soon got caught in the makeup section. I liked makeup. I liked the shine my lips get from lip gloss and the ways my eyes stand out after the application of mascara.
Though my eyes were two different colors, I loved them. I made my way back to them and found them begging to Toriel for a toy.
"I don't know... after Papyrus ran off and Sans you tried stealing some monster candy, I don't think I could get you a toy." The two started pouting. I then chimed in.
"Maybe if you two behave yourself for the rest of the week, we'll get you two a toy." I said with a smile. "If you want something, you should earn it." I commented. Toriel smiled at me.
"That's a marvelous idea! How about that boys?" They were a bit whiny that Toriel agreed with my idea, but soon gave in and agreed. Then we kept walking around and looking.
Apparently, Toriel wanted to come to the store for stuff for butterscotch-cinnamon pie. I told her that that sounded delicious, though I'd have to try it. That gave her the bright idea to invite me over. Papyrus begged for me to say yes.
Again, having nothing better to do, I said yes. Papyrus got excited and Sans was still getting used to me. So after our purchases, I paid for Toriel as a thank you for allowing me to go over and try some.
She tried to decline and insist that I didn't need to. I said that she was making it, so I might as well pay for it. She had given in after I already paid. She said if I didn't like it, she'd pay me back. I gave into that agreement too.
Going over was fun. The boys played and I played with them. Toriel baked in the kitchen and I met her twice married husband, Asgore, but he soon let for a meeting.
I tried her pie, I liked it, but she still paid me back which I was upset about, but brushed off because I gave that and some extra to a homeless man on the way home.
When I entered my apartment, I locked the door and threw myself onto the couch, throwing my purse somewhere. I opened my phone case and a small slip of paper fell out.
Gaster's number. I felt too nervous. I kept pushing it aside: having dinner and watching tv, but the thought of doing it kept crawling back into my mind. I ended up messaging him at 12:32.
"I didn't mean to message you so late, but I just remembered, sorry again it's so late." I sent, to my surprise, he responded.
"It's alright. I'm awake later than this. Toriel told me you ran into her today. Are you okay?" I blushed, he took that seriously. Probably because I pretty much ran into him twice now.
"I didn't run into her... your son Papyrus kind of found me and I brought him back to Toriel and he refused to get put down so I ended up spending the day with them." I thought that sounded bad after it sent, so I added "it was nice."
"I'm so sorry if he interrupted anything, I'll speak to him." I freaked out, thinking I just got his kid in trouble.
"No he didn't! I really don't have anything to do for the next week, so I enjoyed having something to do today." I said, thinking it sounded weird, but knowing anything else I'd say would sound weirder.
"Oh. Well I'm glad he made your day." I smile slightly. Then he kept typing.
"Did you like Toriel? She can be a bit embarrassing at times." He said, I thought back to it.
"I did like her. I don't meet a lot of nice people so it's refreshing knowing there are still kind souls out there." I pressed send but then remembered that monsters are fascinated by souls.
"Uh, sorry if that sounds weird." I apologize.
"No it doesn't, I know what you mean. And yes, it is very refreshing." He said. It took me a moment to think of a way to respond, but then I remembered he told me he's always up this late.
"You should probably go to bed, it's not healthy to stay up to late." I say, feeling a bit worried.
"Sleep has nothing to do with monster health, I'm fine." I knew that was a lie. I've met a monster the other day and they said otherwise. Though I went along with it.
"Oh. Ok. But still, you should rest, it helps with relaxing. Anyway, I need to go to bed. I hope you have a goodnight." I say.
"As to you." And that was it. It was nice having people to talk to. It was nice having people being friendly with you.
