Chapt. 2 ~ Mornings I Can Strive Through
(Y/n)'s POV
~ • ~
Last night was rough. I had to bring load after load into the apartment from the car. The elevator was out of order so I had to walk up all of those stairs to the top floor. The top floor. I was so tired.
Though, my arms were more sore than my legs. I decided, that I could make it through the day. I also needed to adjust my schedule, so we need to see how this'll work.
First. Showering. Run into the bathroom and trip on the toilet. Yeah that hurt. I didn't even know how that happened. Rip all your clothes off and question how you ripped your favorite sleep shirt.
"Ugh! I just bought that tree months ago! How did it break?!" I complained, aloud. I heard a groan through the wall and heard someone knock and tell me to keep it down.
Oops.
I then turn on the water. A nice cold shower will do. So I got in and relaxed under the cold tears of the shower head. I released my last few yawns and clean myself.
Step 2. Dry off, brush your teeth, brush your hair, put your hair in a ponytail, and apply some light makeup so your face doesn't look like a potato along with the rest of your body.
This is probably the easiest part. I brushed my hair after brushing my teeth, of course, after drying off. I always enjoyed putting on makeup, it made me feel pretty, plus I liked the colors of eyeshadow, but I didn't do anything for today, because I'd be going on a jog soon.
I put my hair up and move on to the next step. Medicine, then breakfast. I just took some Edvil and depression medication, nothing too serious. Thankfully the depression medication helped with my anxiety, so I would be brave for the day.
I whipped up some eggs, deciding I'll complete my breakfast at the end of my jog at the coffee place I saw down the street from the Guilty Pleasures Cafe that I went to for some ice cream last night.
I was about to grab my stuff and leave when I remembered, I was butt naked and needed clothing. So I went back to my room, threw on some gym shorts, a sports bra, and a cropped top. I grabbed my inhaler, my phone, and my watch that counted my steps, heart rate, and what not.
This time, I left the apartment and went down the elevator since they fixed it on my last load of groceries. Once I got away from the complex, I started my morning workout.
My asthma wasn't that bad, so I only had to stop a few times to fix my breathing. I was started to feel tired, but I was almost there at the coffee place.
I soon glanced up at the sign and saw it, I slowed to a walk, then went to open the door, when a bony hand grabbed it first. I flinched at contact, I wasn't good at touching people, it always made me tense and nervous.
"S-Sorry..." I whispered, embarrassed. I bit my lip and rubbed my arm, keeping my head down, waiting for him to go.
"Well, if you'd like to enter this building the door's open." Taking a glance up, I saw the father I ran into yesterday. I see the door was open and he motioned me in.
"Uh... t-thanks..." I entered and he followed behind me. I stood in line and so did he. I was a bit tense because of embarrassment. I used my inhaler because the dirt got opened to long and smoke from a bystander outside got in.
Since I was waiting, I decided to check my watch for the necessary. My way back would make my goal of 3,000 steps. Then, of course, I'd have my first class in the afternoon. I flinch, from the tap on my shoulder and the skeletons deep voice, saying it was my turn.
I quietly thank him and go up to order. I ordered a black coffee and one of the breakfast sandwiches, which just had eggs, bacon, and lettuce on it, as well as some melted cheese. Though, that wasn't for me.
I paid and first got my coffee, since that was made quicker than the breakfast sandwiches, which were always cooked fresh. I took a seat and drank my coffee. I looked through my phone. I had a few texts from my mother and father, asking how things were.
I simply responded saying that things were going well. I smile to myself at a dumb dad joke my father made. Though they were never around, I loved them. Plus they always made it for the important things. Like the first day of school and the last, parents breakfast, talent show, birthdays, holidays—
"Mind if I join you?" Snapping out of thought,, I look up to see the skeleton. I nod and give a small smile.
"Of course." It was a two seater table, plus the place was a bit full. So I didn't mind sharing. I was about to go back to my train of thought when he kept talking.
"I never got your name yesterday." I blink. I didn't get his either. I didn't know what name to give him. I hated the fact that people turned sour, knowing I was rich. Though, it's not like I'd run into him again. It's just a coincidence I did today.
"(Y/n) (L/n), and you are?" I asked, politely. Keeping a friendly voice. To my complete surprise, he didn't over react or scold. Just smiled and replied.
"W.D Gaster." I nodded, it was a nice name. It sounded nice and it kind of had a ring to it. I tried to think of a way to continue the conversation and remembered his kids.
"Did your kids make it to bed in time?" I grinned a bit, finding it a bit funny that he was strict on bedtimes.
"Yes, though Sans, my oldest, and Papyrus, my youngest, had tried to steal monster candy before bed." I nodded. Monster candy? That sounded interesting.
"It must be very delicious for them to try to steal it so late." I chuckled a bit. He didn't, but he did smile.
"It is a guilty pleasure. But they're only aloud one a day." I raised a brow, still finding this interesting.
"Really? I couldn't understand that, but my parents were never really strict or restricting of anything. Plus, I was never a bad kid." I commented, not trying to make it about me, just trying to make him understand where I was coming from.
He was about to continue our conversation when my name was called. I left my coffee and the table and thanked the people working behind the counter for it. I was about to walk out, but then I'd confuse Gaster.
"Sorry, I'll be right back." I apologized before exiting the building. I walked a few minutes down the street and delivered the food to a homeless man. First good deed of the day always felt wonderful. I pull out some cash from my pocket and give it to him.
He thanked me and I even gave him a small hug. Then I went back to the Guilty Pleasures Cafe and joined Gaster again.
"Where's your sandwich?" He asked, I took a sip of my coffee before replying.
"I gave it to the homeless guy down the street." He blinked in surprise and I continued. "They're some of the most hard working people. They deserve it. They're alive too."
He was silent for a few more seconds. "That's very kind of you."
"No, I don't deserve any praise. It's something everyone who isn't struggling should be doing. Yet nobody is..." I pause for a moment. "S-so What was it you we're saying before?"
"Oh. Yes. How did you grow up? I couldn't imagine not being strict on my children, it stops them from getting hurt." I nodded, understanding.
"Ah. Well. My family is kind of rich. So my parents were never really around much. Just my butler. So I pretty much grew up alone. Learning to find something special in the smallest of things. Plus I'm not a big sweets person, though I do enjoy some candy every now and then.
But, before you think I'm a spoiled brat, I never really liked getting gifts. I didn't think I deserved it. I like earning things, you know? I don't like having the job done for me, I like doing it myself and getting actual credit, instead of false credit built on the belief I did it. Sorry, am I talking too much?" I ask, shyly, embarrassed that I just started ranting.
"No, that's nice to know." His phone started ringing, so he picked it up.
"☟♏●●□✍" I blinked in confusion. That's a bit strange. I've never heard that language before, and I've learned a lot.
"✋'●● ♌♏ ⧫♒♏❒♏ ⬧□□■📬" He then looked at me. He wrote down his number on a piece of paper and gave it to me.
"Feel free to message me. You're a nice person. I'd like to get to know you more." I blushed. Nobody's ever told me that. A bright smile occupied my lips.
"Thanks, a-and you too!" I said, before he nodded and left the coffee shop.
Day two and I have successfully made a friend. Now this was a morning I could strive for daily. Though I think I'll push my shower to the end of my workout.
