Heretic's Disguise
???: Major!
A voice called from a nearby room. The voice not necessarily shouting but indeed wanting the attention of the Major. The man being called finished his paperwork and quickly moved to answer the call. The Major adjusted the side cap on his (H/c) hair and proceeded to the room.
???: Major Mackinson!
Mackinson doubled his pace and quietly opened the door to his superior's office.
Heinz: Yes Colonel Mustang?
Mustang: Mackinson, I wanted to speak with you.
You entered the room slowly and shut the door behind you. The plan you had concocted had worked astoundingly well so far. Alchemists had a larger reputation than you had credited them for, the evidence being that as soon as you had finished basic training you were a Major, despite being "newly" enlisted. You had even earned a nickname, though it wouldn't put the fear into anyone's heart. The Storybook Alchemist, due to your unnatural ability to wield ink into typing up reports and stories. Sebastion would strangle you if he knew what you were doing with his teachings, but you had to do what you had to do.
Heinz: You wanted to speak with me, sir?
Mustang: Yes. Mackinson I know you haven't been in the military long, but you're already worked to the bone. Heck, you're treated more like a typewriter than you are a soldier.
Heinz: I simply do as I'm tasked, sir.
Mustang: Yes and I wanted to give you a bit of a thank you for your work.
You furrowed your eyebrows. A... thank you?
Heinz: Permission to speak freely, sir?
Mustang: Granted.
Heinz: Can I ask you the real reason you're doing this?
Mustang chuckled lightly.
Mustang: You're quite sharp Mackinson. The real reason I want to reward you is I need you to research a matter I've had my eye on.
Heinz: You could have just told me, sir.
Mustang: What? I'm not allowed to be nice every once in a while?
You swallowed lightly. You didn't quite know how to respond. Everything you said made you feel like you were on a tightrope and the wrong words would lead to your discovery.
Mustang: I will inform you that you will not be going alone. Two others will be joining you, but their reasons are personal.
Heinz: Of course, sir.
???: Hey Ro- oh pardon me I'm sorry for intruding!
The door behind you swung open clipping you on the shoulder. Stepping forward, you turn to find Lt. Colonel Maes Hughes. From behind his glasses, his eyes land on you and a smile forms on his face.
Hughes: Oh hey Mackinson. The Colonel isn't giving you too hard of a time, is he?
Heinz: No sir, just another assignment.
Hughes pats you on the back softly.
Hughes: It seems like all the paperwork falls to you now Mackison. Don't you ever get a break?
The tension that had filled the air previously seemingly vanished with the presence of the Lt. Colonel. Your shoulders slackened and you let out a sigh.
Heinz: Only when I go home, sir.
Hughes: You'll get a break one of these days Mackinson I just know it.
Heinz: Thank you, sir.
The ghost of a smile crept onto your features as Mustang cleared his throat.
Mustang: I would like to talk to the Lt. Colonel in privacy. I'll send someone for you when it's time to depart Major.
Heinz: Yes, sir.
You turned and exited the room, nodding a quick farewell to Hughes in the process. Due to the Lt. Colonel's sudden appearance, you had not learned who would be joining you, in fact, you didn't even know where you were going in the first place. It would be revealed soon but for now, you simply slumped back into your chair and thumbed through paperwork.
???: Mackinson!
You slowly looked up from your work to see who called for you.
???: You have a visitor.
A visitor? Your family never visited due to your former title as a traitor, so you couldn't quite tell who would be asking for you during the day. Aside from your family, there shouldn't be anyone that knows your true identity. You set the paperwork aside and stood up, muttering a quick thanks to the soldier as you walked by toward the entrance. Who would be calling for you? You thought over the possibilities but everyone one came up blank unless it w-
Deep in thought, you neglected to look up and bumped into somebody. You stumbled back a step and so did they. Your ink black irises caught the blue eyes of one Lt. Hawkeye. Though a terrifyingly quiet female in your opinion, you had done nothing to get on her bad side so the two of you simply had mutual respect for one another.
Heinz: My apologies Lt. Hawkeye.
You quickly apologized and continued past her. As you entered your deep thinking once again, you neglected to see the female watching you walk off. For her, Hawkeye had this weird feeling in the pit of her stomach that she knew you from somewhere. Your features and general air were remarkably similar to a person she knew in the past, though a fog covered the man's features each time she attempted to think of him. She watched you turn the corner before returning to her original route as well.
Upon entering the foyer of the building, you scanned the room to try and find this mystery person. The normal random visitors and soldier filled your view, however in the middle of those moving figures was an angel, bathed in the light let in by the windows. Her brown hair flowing swayed lightly as her eyes met yours. Your breath hitched in your throat and your form went rigid. How did she know you where here? Why was she here? A million questions ran through your mind, but for now, you had to play a part one of which Emilia has chosen for you. She began jogging over to you, opening her arms to embrace you. You let a smile fill your features as you readied your arms yourself. Once she was in arms reach, you felt a bit of joy overcome you, as you found yourself lifting Emilia up and spinning her for the world to see. As her giggled subsided, you pulled her into a tight embrace in which she pressed a chaste kiss to the corner of your lips. A nearby soldier clearing his throat alerted you to your current situation. You looked around and found that all eyes were on you, some looking aggravated at the display while others smiled fondly in support.
Heinz: P-Pardon us, Dear Merideth would you join me outside?
Emilia giggled lightly and winked at you.
Emilia: Of course my darling Heinz.
You led Emilia outside of the building to where you both had a bit more privacy before embracing each other once again.
(Y/n): Emilia! H-How did you... why did you-
Emilia: I told you if you took too long I would come to find you myself.
(Y/n): But you should have stayed with Sebastion won't he need you?
Emilia: He may be old, but Sebastion will be quick to tell you he is capable of caring for his self. I left him with ample supplies until my return.
(Y/n): Even so... how did you know of my location or my new name?
Emilia: I didn't find you first. I encountered your mother and sister in the market and they led me to your family's library. It was your father who filled me in on the rest. But all that matters is we've found each other.
Emilia smiled brightly at you and your joy-filled heart lept out of your chest. You pressed a kiss to her forehead
Emilia: And Meredith? Really? You couldn't have picked a name to match my charm?
You chuckled lightly at her joke.
(Y/n): It's hard to pick on the spot, and Emilia was already taken.
???: Mackinson!
You let out an aggravated sigh and glared over your shoulder to see who was interrupting your tender moment, only to freeze at the sight of Colonel Mustang.
Mustang: It's time to depart, you can spend more time with her later.
Heinz: O-Of course sir!
You turned to Emilia and muttered your goodbyes. You went to press one last kiss to her forehead, but her sudden movement caused the farewell kiss to land on her lips. A blush grew on your face as well as hers.
Heinz: D-Dear Meredith you know the direction to our "home" yes?
Emilia simply nodded as you jogged off to join your superior. He stood next to a vehicle awaiting its final two passengers. You followed Colonel Mustang and entered the back of the carriage. Opposite to you was a man made of iron and a short blonde-haired man.
Mustang: These two will be joining us. This is Alphonse and Edward Alric. Edward is the Fullmetal Alchemist.
Your eyes widened slightly. You had heard of the Fullmetal Alchemist but you never thought you would be sharing a ride with him. You quickly offered your hand up to shake to the man made of iron.
Heinz: It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Edward: Oh I'm not-
Mustang: That's Alphonse.
Heinz: Oh so you're not the older brother?
The blonde one grew visibly agitated.
Heinz: Then the short one is the ol-
Edward: Who you calling short, huh?!
Heinz: It was not my intention to-
Edward: Just go back to your books Storybook Alchemist and there won't be any trouble you got me?!
You let out a sigh. Five minutes in and this was already going great. Totally great. The rest of the trip followed with Mustang filling you in on the location you were headed to. One of which you had not expected to be heading. How would this play out? You thought this quietly as you watched the buildings roll past on your way to the home of Shou Tucker.
A/n: Tada! With limited writing inspiration and an Iron will, I've finally brought you guys an update. I hope you enjoyed and if you did please leave a comment and I'll see you in the next update, my friends!
