Cyrus

I paced the inside of my room as i thought about what to do. I cant believe it! I literally cant believe it! I cant believe i was paired up with a person i thought i would never get paired up! Well more likely species but what did it mattered?

I was a wolf and she was a human. I couldnt just accept that. Heck my pack and my race wouldnt accept her. Besides i had always hated humans. Look what happened with my mom.

The reason i am already tolerating my dad is because he's mom's mate and i cant just let mom reject her mate. When mates bond; they bond for life. There's no turning back. Rejecting a mate is the most painful thing ever. I cant let my mom go through that sort of pain.

But accepting my human mate? That was just absurd!

'But she's our mate,' my wolf said.

Before i could reply, Giovanni's face broke in to my thoughts.

'Cyrus you are needed in the office now. We have a problem on our hands,' Giovanni said.

Immediately i grew anxious and left my room heading straight for Giovanni's office.

"Whats wrong?" I asked, taking a seat beside Vincent on the couch.
"One of our pack members was found dead this morning in the forest," Gio said.

Giovanni's short name was Gio.

"What? But how?" Vin asked.
"Did our patrollers find the murderer?" I asked.
"No they didnt. There was no trace of them. It looked like somebody had marred his face. You could hardly recognize it," Gio said.
"What are we going to do?" I asked.
"Inform his family members first," Gio sighed.
"Who is he actually?" Jake asked.
"Oh thats Kyle Montegomery," Gio said.
"The patroller?" Jake asked.
"Yes,"Gio said.
"We have to hold a funeral for him," Vin said.
"Definitely. He was a good pack member as well as a patroller," i said, nodding my head.
"Who's going with me to tell his family the news?" Gio asked.
"I think we all will," Jake said, standing up.

The four of us got up and walked out of the pack house. Not all of us lived in the pack house. Only those who wanted to live with us as a sense of protection lived with us. Others lived in small village near the pack house.

Everybody looked at us as we walked to the Montegomery's house. You didnt see all pack leaders going into the village in everyday routine. Knocking on the door we waited for someone to open the door.

"Yes?" A girl of 16 years old asked as she opened the door.

Her eyes widened as she saw us standing at her front door.

"Alpha, Beta, Gamma. Welcome," she said, her voice small.

I almost felt sympathy for her. She obviously knew something had happened to her dad. You see when a mate dies or is in pain their other halves will be able to feel all their pain.

"Where's your mom?" Gio asked gently.
"In her room. She isnt feeling well. She said something happened to dad. Where is he?" She asked, her voice cracking at the end.
"Whats your name?" I asked softly.
"Stacey," she said softly.
"Thats a pretty name. But we would like to see your mom," i said.

Stacey nodded and finally led us up the stairs to her mom's room. So many photos lined the walls full of memories. It almost made me jealous of stacey. I mean she did had a family. A whole family including her dad for sixteen years who wasnt a psycho.

"Mrs. Montegomery. We would like to speak with you," Gio said in a soft yet demanding tone as well.
"He's dead isnt he?" She whimpered.

I felt her pain through our pack bond which made my wolf howl sadly.

The next morning Kyle's funeral was held in the pack grounds with all the pack members and Kyle's family in the ground. As Alpha the ceremony was held by Giovanni as the head. Seeing Kyle's family condition it gave me an edge to not have a human mate.

I mean if Kyle didnt make it then how could my human mate make it? Our life wasnt just unicorns and flowers . We lived amongst danger. I knew rejecting her would be the best possible thing for us.

My wolf growled letting me know that he wasnt happy over where my thoughts were going. If things were his way he would have up and marked her the first chance he got.

'You got to give her a chance Cyrus,' my wolf said.
'Oh really? You dont have a say in this,' i told him.
'She's our mate Cyrus. Of course i have a say in this,' he said.
'We'll argue about this later,' i said.

After the funeral was over Giovanni motioned for everyone to stay on the ground. Saying he wanted to discuss some important things.

"The middle of the month is arriving," Gio said, his eyes looking over at the pack.
"That means full moon is arriving. And we all know how much effect it has on us," he continued.
"Since the demise of our member its believed that we have a problem on our hands. So we cant just roam as freely as we wanted," he said after a pause.
"So our step this year will be that we wont be going to our new town since its inhabited by humans. All of us will remain within our territory so as not to hurt humans," Gio finished.

Shit. I knew my wolf wouldnt be in my control. And i also knew that he would want to see his mate. I also didnt want lizzy to be afraid of me. Atleast not yet.
