Chapter 17
Xander
I went home early today since i needed to talk to Lizzy about me being a hunter. I had put her in the dark for a long time. As my only heir and daughter she would soon learn what dark creatures laid in the shadows.
I wanted her beside me ready to fight those darned wolves. Just like how Cole stood and helped Andy. It almost made me jealous that Andy could depend so much on Cole. But i would train her. I would train my daughter to fight those werewolves that killed her grandmother.
Yes. My mother got killed by those vile creatures while i was away at college. I still remember the day when i came home in a very cheery mood to find a trashed place and my mom's bloody body lying sprawled on the ground.
Flashback
I had just gotten my semester finished at college and drove home in a cheary mood. I wanted to tell my mother about how i got better grades in this semester. I even brought my mom a box of chocolates for my success.
Whistling a happy tune i parked my car in the driveway not really paying attention to my surroundings. If i had i would have been able to see the ripped lawn grass. Reaching the front door i found it smashed against the wall almost broke.
"Mom?" I called
I got no response. Usually my mom would be in the kitchen cooking dinner for the four of us. I was the eldest of two siblings my younger sibling being my brother, Taylor.
The box of chocolate fell from my hands as i entered the living room. The room was trashed like there were two or more than two people. Little did i know that they werent just people.
"Mom?"
This time my voice came out shaky. Taking a step farther i let out the loudest scream of my life. At that time i didnt knew my own father was a hunter. So i had literally no clue why someone killed my mom.
My mom was lying sprawled on the living room floor with her eyes wide open. Her clothes were ripped apart and there was blood by the side of her head. There were marks all over her body. Her hair were a jumbled mess.
Falling to my knees i crawled towards her and shook her hard. When i got no response i dialled my dad's number to give him the bad news.
Flashback ends
"Xander i have been calling you for the past five minutes. Where have you been?" Gina asked.
"Sorry i was thinking about something," i said, getting back to the present.
"You were thinking about it pretty hard," she said.
"I was thinking about my mom's death," i said, anger filling my body.
"She was killed by those rogues right?" She asked.
"And i didnt even knew that werewolves existed at that time. Only when dad came home did i came to realize that such vile creatures exist," i said.
"Where are you going with this?" Gina asked.
"Gina i was thinking that we should tell Lizzy about my business," i said.
"Now? Let her finish school first. I dont want her amongst those creatures," she shuddered.
"You have to realize Gina the state of shock i was in when dad revealed what he actually did as a business. Its the worst case scenario knowing that you could have prevented something if you knew," i said.
"I know Xander but if you think its the right time i will stand by you," Gina said.
"Thanks Gina. I know that the world we live in is damgerous and therefore i want my little girl to always be prepared," i said.
Gina opened her mouth to say something but we heard the front door open at that point.
"Lizzy's home. She had gone out with Cole," Gina said, making me smile.
"You know i wouldnt be surprised if Cole and Lizzy end up being married," i told her.
Gina laughed as we heard Lizzy call for her.
"How was your evening?" Gina asked.
"Fine," Lizzy shrugged
She didnt elaborate much and i didnt ask either. Perhaps she's tired.
"Your mom and i wanted to tell you something," i said.
"What is it?" Lizzy asked, looking between Gina and me.
"You may have to sit down for this," i told her.
The three of us sat down in the living room.
"Is everything ok?" She asked, causing me to smile.
Such a caring daughter i had.
"Yes. I just wanted to tell you about my business," i began, looking over at Gina who gave me an assuribg smile.
"What about it?" Lizzy asked.
"I work as a hunter Lizzy," i said.
"Hunter? Whats that?" She asked.
"I hunt animals," i said, carefully watching her expression.
"What animals?" She asked.
"Wolves," i said, after taking a deep breath.
I think Lizzy's expression surprised us both. Because she stood up from her seat and turned to glare at us.
"HOW COULD YOU HUNT ANIMALS? ESPECIALLY WOLVES?!" Lizzy yelled.
"Lower your voice down Elizabeth," i warned.
"Dont you feel any remorse for killing innocent wolves?" Lizzy asked.
"Why should i feel any remorse if they killed your grandmother without any remorse?" I asked.
"Its wrong daddy. You cant just kill animals because of revenge!" Lizzy exclaimed.
Before Gina and i could say anything Lizzy turned on her heels and left us in the living room.
"Guess she didnt take that well," gina sighed.
"Dont worry; she'll come across it," i assured both of us.
But why did i get the feeling that Lizzy wouldnt be on our side.
Feedback would be appreciated! :)
