"Just move it a little to the right?" Taehyung's mom questioned as Taehyung and his dad were moving the Christmas tree near the fire place.
"Ma, we've been positioning this tree for a good 30 minutes, it looks good anywhere." Taehyung grunted as he shifted the tree slightly towards him.
"Oh shush, I just want it to be the most perfect Christmas! Your father usually bring out the Christmas tree but he always half-asses it." His mom joked towards his dad who just scoffed, being slightly offended.
"Honey, I'm right here." He scoffed, while shaking his head slightly.
"Well, its true. But it's nice that you have Taehyung helping, no?" His mother smiled genuinely which made his father nod in agreement. When Taehyung left, his father never felt like putting the tree up because it didn't feel right since they were missing one of their children. It felt as if there was a missing piece in the whole household at first, which was always Taehyung. He may not have been the greatest son and he didn't even help with the Christmas tree before he left, but his presence was important.
"I'm sorry, again." Taehyung muttered softly as he placed present underneath the tree. The tree was absolutely beautiful; it stood tall with dark green bristles with fake white snow in the corners, but the real beauty was the lights. The white lights were so beautiful as they contrasted to such a dark color. Taehyung never admired Christmas lights so much until now. For some weird reason, the sight gave him some slight of hope. He feels as if he is going to be okay one way or another. If only he were to be able to feel this way all the time. Although he feels the glimmer of hope, he knows he has damaged plenty of things along his way through life. He just hopes he can fix it.
"Honey, I will tell you for one thousandth time; it's okay. We always loved you. We love you so much." His mom came towards him and hugged his slim waist while he bent down to give her a tight embrace.
"And we're so happy you came to visit us. I can tell you have changed yourself for the better and we are so proud of you, son." His dad smiled while patting his sons back.
Taehyung was feeling so happy at that moment that he didn't want to leave his parent's house at all. Would they let him stay? Does he really want to stay? What about Mia? What about school?
"I love you, guys." Taehyung mentioned out loud as he let go. He grabbed the last present, which was his present to his parents. He wrapped the present last minute so it looked kind of shitty but he didn't care. He just hoped that they would love it.
"Alright, everyone. Maybe we should go to bed since it is Christmas Eve!" Taehyung's mom exclaimed while guiding the children to their room.
"Goodnight, I love you all!" Taehyung said to his parents and siblings before going into his old room.
As he entered his room, he noticed how tired he was. Ever since he had came back to his hometown, he has been doing something everyday with his parents or siblings. He rarely got time to himself but he thought that was good for him. Wasn't it?
As he got changed into his boxer shorts and plain white tee, he heard his phone going off.
hope
dude! you're coming to the christmas get together on friday, right?
taehyung!!
uh, i dont know dude...
hope
what do you mean 'i dont know'? can you not make it?
taehyung!!

taehyung!!

hope
yeah...i hope you're doing well.
taehyung!!
yeah, you too hobi. good night
Taehyung locked his phone and closed his eyes. He really wanted to go to the get together but knowing his luck, something is bound to go wrong. He knows the get together will be just the orginal gang exchanging gifts but he doesn't want to be odd one out, especially if hes unwanted. He did have a gift for Mia and Hobi but he didn't know if Mia would even accept the gift.
Everything was just so complicated back there, so why not stay in Daegu? Everything is so simple and feels right. He feels loved and feels like he belongs there even though he feels like he doesn't deserve it whatsoever.
He'll just have to talk to his parents tomorrow.
He looked over at his clock to go to sleep but it was 12:04 a.m. It's Christmas.
Taehyung grabbed his phone hastily and saw an unexpected message.
(12:00)

Mia woke up rather chipper and jumped out of bed to go greet her mother. She felt refreshed and new and it could've been for the message she has been waiting for a week and half or it could be because it's Christmas but Mia was not complaining one bit.
"G'morning, mama! Merry Christmas!" Mia slid on her socks towards her mom while handing her a present. Mia had a thoughtful grin on her lips and her mom looked at skeptically.
"You're chipper this morning. That makes you very suspicious." Her mom squinted as she grabbed the present while trying not to grin, "How do I know that you're my daughter?"
"Oh, well darn. You figured out my secret. I'm not really your daughter. Mia made herself a clone and now I'm the new and improved Mia Ahn." Mia played along as she stated very seriously.
"Ugh, finally! New and improved! This is the best Christmas gift I've been given!", her mom laughed off, making Mia feigning hurtful expressions while pouting.
"Anyway, do you want to cook breakfast first or presents first?" Mia mentioned.
"Is that even a question? Presents first!" Mia's mom laughed as they both migrated to the living room area.
They grabbed their presents with their names on them and sat down next to each other.
"I wonder who this is from." Mia joked since they were the only ones who lived there.
"I really hope you like it." Her mom mentioned nervously.
She looked at the big box that was wrapped with Santa and Rudolph wrapping paper. Mia tore the paper, not caring to destroy the wrapping. Once the box was revealed, she found a picture of a touch screen laptop and a stylus pen on the box. Mia gaped towards her mom since she didn't know her mom could afford it.
"M-mom! I-You didn't have to, wow. It's so new and beautiful." Mia said thoughtfully while turning the box over to look at the back.
"Yeah, it has a stylus included so you can do some digital art. I thought it was time to upgrade." Her mom beamed as she grabbed her own present that she was already given, which was fairly small.
She tore the wrapping carefully and saw a small box that jewelry would fit in. As she opened it she saw a beautiful silver band that would fit right on her hand. As she grabbed the ring, she looked inside the ring to see the engraving, "I love you, Mom", which made her mom choke up a bit.
She thanked her daughter and gave Mia her other present. It was also a small gift but in a bigger box. Mia unwrapped and unboxed it to find a pretty locket necklace that was a pretty rose color, which made Mia gape in awe. She opened the locket and on the left side was an old picture of her and her mom when she was three. On the right side, there was a picture of her and her mom now, which made Mia want to cry. Although they don't talk about how they dealt with everything together through thick and thin, they both know that the other was grateful. Having Mia's dad leave was tough on them but they got through it, especially Mia's mother. Everyone doubted her but she proved them wrong and she couldn't be more proud of herself and Mia.
"I love you, momma. I hope you love your ring. Here's your other present." Mia smiled while her mom just furrowed her eyebrows since she didn't expect another gift.
Once Mia's mom opened her present, she found a photo album inside that contained pictures of her and Mia, her and her friends, even with her and Mia's friends. She absolutely loved it.
"I love you, Mia. Very much. Thank you." She hugged her daughter for a bit until she annouced that she was going to go cook breakfast.
"So was shopping for me hard?" Mia laughed to her mom, knowing that her mom had some struggle.
"Well, you basically have everything already so yeah!" Her mom exclaimed while giggling.
"Yeah, thanks for that momma. You're the best. And not because you give me presents or anything. You're just always there for me and you have such a big heart. You're also so independent and I admire you so much for that. You're my hero." Mia mentioned as she started straightening the living room.
"Well, you're being nice this morning. But thank you, baby. I love you too." Her mom hummed as she grabbed dough to make cinnamon rolls.
"Hey! I'm always nice!" Mia exclaimed while debating on to throw one of the couch pillows at her mom.
"Yeah, okay. Sure." Her mom scoffed jokingly.
"You know what, make your cinnamon rolls!" Mia exclaimed while walking to her room as if she was pouting.
"Oh, I will and you will enjoy them!" Her mom smiled softly, thankful that she has such a wonderful daughter.

"Okay guys, last final present." Taehyung mentioned while getting up to go to his room.
Taehyung was feeling very happy and cheery this morning and woke up to a bunch of presents for him. He didn't know why or how he had so many but his parents said they were from the two other Christmases that he didn't attend to. He received a lot of art supplies that were no doubt expensive, a bunch of records that were of all of his favorite old bands (he absolutely loved records in general), a tablet, and framed photo of him and his family when he was younger. He was grateful and loved all of his presents but then the feeling of him not deserving any of them was consuming him. What did he do to deserve such wonderful gifts and people in his life? Nothing, so why? Taehyung was rather excited to give them their present since he worked on it a while ago just in case he ever had the courage to show his face around them.
He grabbed the huge frame that was half his body and lugged it over to the living room. He wrapped it the other night, hoping his parents and siblings would love it.
It was a huge painted canvas of the drawing he almost tore up of him and his family. He honestly was rather nervous since he didn't know if they genuinely thought his art was great or not. They know he loves doing it but they haven't seen him in two years so they don't know that he actually wants to pursue it as a career. Will his parents support him or just kick him out automatically for making such dumb decisions.
As he came towards his parents and siblings, he noticed how his parents had curious eyes on him and the huge frame while his siblings had excited eyes, wanting to know what the huge present is.
"Uhm, I worked on this awhile ago just in hopes of seeing you all again. I didn't know if you would all accept me since I wasn't the greatest son or brother. I was ungrateful and selfish but I have changed and I'm still working on myself. But," he said as he turned the frame around slowly, "I hope we can be a happy family with the new and better me," He finished as he fully had exposed his painting, hoping for great reactions.
His family stared at the painted family portrait of them and they were in absolute awe. The detail that Taehyung had put in their faces from shading to slight wrinkles from smiling excessively. The background was a beautiful combination with pink and blue, while their clothes were all consisted of black, grey, maroon, and purple. Everyone was smiling as if nothing was wrong but Taehyung's smile was so genuine and it was a rare sight to see. His family never really saw him smile that hugely until recently. It was an endearing sight that they were grateful for.
"Woahhhhh!" His siblings exclaimed while getting closer to the art.
"This is beautiful." His mother said while hugging him.
"You need to pursue in this, son. It's wonderful. I feel like I need to pay you right now." His dad laughed as he side hugged his son.
"Wait...so, you all like the painting?" Taehyung questioned, shocked that his family thought anything from him was worth receiving.
"Of course, baby, of course." His mother hugged him, just wishing her son would be more secure with himself.
Later that night, Taehyung noticed how he still needed to talk to his parents about staying or not. He felt like he wanted to stay because he doesn't have any problems here. Everything felt right with his family. If he went back to his home, he would go back to being lonely and hated. He's messed up so much shit over there that he doesn't even know if it's worth fixing. He loves Mia and he wants to be with her but it may be for the best for him to just stay away from her. She would be able to find a nice guy that would never hurt her and lie to her. He just wants her to be happy.
"Knock, knock." He heard from the left side of his bed. His mother leaned up against the door frame and had her arms crossed with a soft smile on her face. Taehyung sat up and leaned his head up against the headboard and smiled towards his mother.
"Hey, momma. Is everything okay?" Taehyung asked.
"Yeah, baby. Everything's fine. I was actually going to ask you the same thing." She mumbled while sitting in front of him on his bed.
"What do you mean?" Of course Taehyung was fine, he's with his family and has been forgiven so he was more than okay, right?
"Well, I see you're really happy here, which makes me more than happy but...you haven't really talked about your life back at your home." His mother softly said.
Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows, "But I am home...right, momma?" He asked with innocence laced within his voice.
"Aw, baby. This will always be your home. It will always be our home. But...you also created a new life with a new home and I'm so happy for you. You made yourself a better person a-"
"Well, I don't know about that." He muttered, looking down at his hands.
"Taehyung, look at me." His mother voiced out. Taehyung looked up at his mother hesitantly with guilty eyes, "Stop downing on yourself. You may have deceived, lied, and done far worse back at your home but you're not that person anymore. Heck, you're even in love with a girl who sounds just as in love with you. We, as a family, are the type of people who don't just give up. We will fight for what we want and we do not quit. Now, there may be some times where you want to just lose it all because you're just so tired. But, I promise you, it gets better. You're such a wonderful person and I wish you would see that. Don't let your past actions define you. You need to go back and fix what you did back there, honey. You can't run away from your problems. But if you want to truly stay here, you're welcomed here always. I just feel like you need a little push to get the courage to do what's right." His mother expressed as Taehyung's eyes got slightly damp since he felt inspired but also helpless at the same time.
"I-I just don't know how. What if I'm not forgiven back at my home? Am I even worthy to be forgiven?" He glanced at her with a fearful look with tears threatening to spill.
"Did you think we were going to forgive you?" His mom mentioned while getting closer to him to rub his shoulder comfortingly.
Taehyung shook his head no since he sincerely thought he was going to be denied from his own family.
"But you were. You already were long ago, okay? We love you. I'm pretty sure others appreciate you back at your home, okay? You just have to see. If it doesn't work out, then you can come back home, okay?" His mother proposed while Taehyung just nodded frantically and came towards her with a bear hug.
"Yes, momma. Thank you. I love you." He said softly, squeezing her slightly.
"I love you too, sweetie. Always."
