Chapter 22
"What.. the fuck just happened." Hoseok said and everyone had the same confused look plastered on their faces. Jimin's eyes were widened and so were Taehyung's.
"He-he's gay?? Like, for real?" Namjoon asked and Jimin scoffed.
"Yes, dumbass." Jimin mumbled out and Yoongi just let out a nervous snicker.
"I mean that explains.. a lot. But- how?? Why?" Yoongi stammered out and Hoseok also looked like he had a hint of repulsion on his face.
"What do you mean 'why?' He's gay, not an alien." Jimin snapped and Hoseok just sighed.
"Yeah but... it's weird." Hoseok mumbled out and then Jimin was about to snap at him, but got cut off.
"Thank god, I thought I was the only one who thought that. I mean, he's seen us changing and naked and shit. What if-if he had weird thoughts, y'know?" Namjoon said and Yoongi hummed in agreement.
"You guys are kidding, right?" Jin blurted out, keeping quiet for the past few minutes. "He's our best friend! You're not going to treat him any fucking differently than before just because he happens to be gay." Jin snapped.
Jimin sighed, and then looked up and then realized; Taehyung was missing.
Fuck.

Taehyung rushet out of the cafeteria the moment he saw Jungkook storm out. He let the doors swing behind him and looked both ways of the hallway, trying to figure out where Jungkook went.
He was about to go check the classrooms, when another figure ran out of the food hall. Taehyung turned to see, and then almost rolled his eyes when he saw Yugyeom.
"Where's Jungkook?" Yugyeom asked and Taehyung took a deep breath, trying to keep calm.
"I don't-"
"I need to talk to him." Yugyeom mumbled out and started walking, but Taehyung stopped him.
"No- let me talk to him." Taehyung said and Yugyeom scoffed, for once, tired of Taehyung's bullshit.
"And do what? Bully him for being gay? He really doesn't need that right now, V." Yugyeom snapped and Taehyung was a little taken aback. He's usually quite a pushover when it comes to Taehyung (everyone is), so it was surprising to see him actually raising his voice.
"Yugyeom." Taehyung breathed out, seeing him walk away faster. "Seriously- it-it's not what you think. I'm close to him-" Taehyung started and Yugyeom snickered.
"Just, fuck off V. Why don't you just go hang out with your girlfriend or something." Yugyeom said and then walked towards the classroom. Taehyung gulped hesitantly and then realized.
He knows where Jungkook was.
Taehyung started rushing to the other side of the hallway, and made his way to the top floor of the school, where the music rooms, dance rooms, drama studio, and art rooms were. He knew where Jungkook was, because they'd come here before.
"Where are we going? I've literally never seen this part of the school-" Taehyung breathed out, and Jungkook giggled, continuing to drag him through the hallway, his grip tight on Taehyung's hand.
"Just come with me. No one's going to be here." Jungkook said, and Taehyung snickered. Jungkook looked at him with an adorable bunny smile on his face, one that made Taehyung's lips curve into a smile themselves.
He opened the door to the small room right in the corner of the floor. The door pushed open to a tiny space with a few table and bottles of paint and brushes everywhere. Paper spilled across tables, and splatters of red and blue and green trickled down the table's legs.
There was a slant window, where the ceiling met the wall. It let sunlight pour in and drape on the room. Jungkook turned and looked at Taehyung.
"I come in here sometimes to paint after school. It's.. not really used that much, it used to be a storage room. But the art teacher changed it into a little room." Jungkook explained, and Taehyung hummed.
There was a feeling of serenity flowing through Taehyung upon walking into the room. It was so peaceful, and as Jungkook walked behind the table, the sunlight hit his face and made his brown hair golden- Taehyung smiled.
Jungkook gestured at Taehyung to walk over to him, and Taehyung did and saw a sketchbook in Jungkook's hands. Jungkook opened it, and Taehyung's eyes roamed over the little doodles of the stars and moon and galaxies.
"Holy shit, Kook." Taehyung let out, wrapping his arms around Jungkook's waist and placing his chin on Jungkook's shoulder.
"I-I made them." Jungkook squeaked out, and Taehyung giggled into his neck.
"I know, baby. I could tell. They remind me of you." Taehyung whispered, and Jungkook giggled as well, flipping the pages of the book.
Jungkook placed the book down onto the table, and then turned around, still captured between Taehyung's arms. Jungkook placed his hands on Taehyung's cheeks.
"See- told you no one would find us here." Jungkook whispered, and Taehyung leaned forward, their noses brushing against one another.
"Hmm... yeah. I forgot you're always right." Taehyung said, and Jungkook giggled, his eyes forming little crescents.
"Don't-don't tell anyone else of this place, okay? I want it to be our little secret place." Jungkook said softly, and Taehyung smiled, his lips brushing over Jungkook's.
"Only ours?" Taehyung asked, and Jungkook nodded, closing his eyes a little upon feeling Taehyung's lips on his.
"Only ours."
Taehyung ran towards the tiny room in the corner of the hallway and threw the door open. He felt his shoulders fall in relief when he saw Jungkook there, but then the tension rose again when he saw tears falling from his eyes.
Jungkook turned and saw Taehyung and his beautiful starry eyes crumbled further.
"G-go away-" Jungkook choked out and Taehyung couldn't stop himself from rushing forward and wrapping his arms around Jungkook's smaller figure. Jungkook hiccuped and continued crying, pressing a tissue to his eyes.
"I-I said go away-" Jungkook squeaked out, but felt Taehyung's larger hands on his back, tightening their grip on him.
"Don't-don't cry. Please." Taehyung whispered and Jungkook pushed him off.
"Why not? It-it's not like you care, anyway!" Jungkook snapped and saw Taehyung look completely disheartened at seeing tears run down Jungkook's face.
Taehyung didn't respond. "Why're you crying? You-you did so well. You came out to everyone, isn't that what you wanted? You-you were so cute, too." Taehyung chuckled and Jungkook sniffled.
"That's not why I'm crying." Jungkook said soberly and Taehyung stepped closer to him, having to stop himself from lunging forward and wrapping his arms around Jungkook.
"Was it..." Taehyung started and then let his thumb wipe the tear leaking from Jungkook's eye. "Was it because of me?"
Jungkook slapped Taehyung's hand away, not seeing the look of guilt that crossed Taehyung's face.
"You're kidding, right?" Jungkook shouted and Taehyung sighed softly.
"Of course it's because of you, V! I thought things were going to go back to how they were, but- but then you asked Eka out instead! You asked her to be your girlfriend- and just pushed me aside like you always did!" Jungkook said and Taehyung closed his eyes, his heart filling with something he'd never felt.
"Why did you kiss me?" Jungkook asked, his voice light and airy from crying. All Jungkook saw was the hesitation that filled Taehyung's eyes, not the hurt that lay behind it.
"Why. Did. You. Kiss. Me?" Jungkook asked again, this time with more anger. Taehyung breathed in sharply.
"I-I don't know... I don't know." Taehyung stammered and Jungkook suddenly felt like the roles had been switched. Taehyung looked so small, so vulnerable, so tired, so pale. Like he hadn't slept for days.
"Of course you don't." Jungkook mumbled out dryly and then shoved past Taehyung to walk out of the room.
"Jungkook, please- can we just talk-"
"About what, Tae?" Jungkook interrupted, turning around. Taehyung looked hesitant and Jungkook just laughed humorlessly.
"Fine. Let's talk. Why'd you ask her out?" Jungkook asked and Taehyung opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
"Do you actually like her? Or are you just going to fuck around with her?" Jungkook kept asking and Taehyung ran a hand through his hair in agitation. More within himself, than anything.
"Do you like her, Taehyung?" Jungkook asked again, this time his voice softer.
"I-I do. I like her so much. I can't stop thinking about her and I had to do something about it." Taehyung choked out, looking at Jungkook with something in his eyes, something that Jungkook didn't see- because he was looking at the floor.
Jungkook felt the lump rising in his throat again. Of course he likes her, you fucking idiot.
"She-she's all I think about. Ever. And I can't. I can't go a fucking minutes without thinking about her. I've never felt like this about a person.. ever." Taehyung said, his voice soft.
Jungkook smiled, like, genuinely. "Didn't know you liked her so much." Jungkook squeaked, and Taehyung gulped.
"I'm sorry, I-I had to ask Eka out." Taehyung said, his eyes glazed as well.
"It's okay." Jungkook said, finally forcing himself to look at Taehyung.
"There were never any feelings involved between us anyways, so it really doesn't matter." Jungkook said and Taehyung sighed.
"Y-yeah."
"Well, either way Tae- sorry, V." Jungkook said and then smiled again. "Let's just be friends. Like, normal. No- no kissing, or jealousy, or stupid stuff. Let's pretend like whatever happened between us never took place. Okay?" Jungkook said and Taehyung nodded.
Let's just say, Jungkook wasn't the only one who left the room with an aching heart.
