Chapter 19
Jungkook's heart collapsed in his chest and he could kind of hear shuffling from the other side of the door. He didn't know why he stood for a few minutes- but the moment he heard Eka's loud moan, he couldn't bear it.
Jungkook turned around, his mind filling with every possible somber thought as he rushed towards his room. He felt like crying. Crying and crying for hours and hours. He felt like falling onto the floor and weeping away his sorrows and regrets.
Every single thing. Every single thing they did. Every time Jungkook's heart skipped a beat, every time Jungkook's stomach fluttered. Every time he thought the other boy liked him back. Every time he thought the other boy felt the same way, felt the same connection, felt the same love. It was all bullshit.
All bullshit that Jungkook concocted in his fucking head. All fucking bullshit that he kept believing in. He really made himself believe that this-this stupid fucking fuckboy liked him back.
How could Jungkook be so stupid? He's STRAIGHT. Whatever happened to Jungkook's strict rule of 'don't fall for any guys here, they're all straight'. He knew he was going to get his heart broken, so honestly, why's he surprised? From V of all people- this was honestly surprising. And had probably happened to so many girls.
Jungkook just.. thought he was different. Special.
His plans of wanting to cry like a baby were ruined when he entered his room and saw three of his friends in his room. His glossy eyes scanned over Jimin, Jin and Namjoon, and he let out a small sigh. He suppressed his tears and gave them a small smile.
"Jungkook-ah!" Namjoon greeted when he saw him and Ji smiled at him. Jimin saw him and frowned upon seeing Jungkook look so pale and feeble.
"Hi." Jungkook squeaked out and Jin and Namjoon went back to talking about whatever they were discussing, sitting on Jimin's bed. Jimin got up from his bed and walked up to Jungkook.
"Hey.. you alright?" Jimin asked and Jungkook gulped hesitantly, turning away (so Jimin wouldn't see how his eyes were kind of teary) and fitting strewn clothes into his dresser.
"Y-yeah. I'm fine. Great. What-what're you guys up to?" Jungkook asked, his voice cracking slightly. Jimin frowned.
"Are you sure? What'd he say?" Jimin whispered quietly and Jungkook just turned to Jimin and gave him a smile that anyone could tell was fake.
"Nothing. It- um. We kind of- eh- ended things."
"What?!" Jimin snapped and they heard Jin question them from behind.
"We're talking about that new anime series Jin- What do you mean you ended things?" Jimin hissed to Jungkook.
"I mean," Jungkook whispered, closing his dresser door rather harshly. "We ended things. It's fine. It-it doesn't really matter, anyway. It- um- It's for the better." Jungkook said swiftly and Jimin frowned.
"Do you want to be alone for a bit?" Jimin asked and Jungkook bit down onto his lip.
"No! No no- I'd prefer company right now. I'm fine, Jimin. Really. Relax." Jungkook snickered, before walking over to his bed and plopping himself down.
Jimin sighed. He knew Jungkook was lying. He knew Jungkook was lying because for the rest of the day, Jungkook laughed at everything- more than needed. He kept smiling at Jimin, as if reassuring himself more than the orange haired boy. He knew he was trying his hardest to pretend like he didn't care. Jimin knew.
He knew, because later that night, at around 2AM- Jungkook thought Jimin was fast asleep in his bed. Jimin knew, because he immediately awfke to the sound of crying. Muffled crying. Jimin got up hesitantly and walked over to Jungkook's bed- where he could make out the figure of the boy cuddled up into a small ball under the covers. His hands were tightly clutching onto the pillow and his chest was falling up and down as tiny squeaks of sobs escaped his lips.
"Jungkook-" Jimin whispered, sitting down on the bed, as Jungkook was scrunched up to the side of it.
"I-I'm fine." Jungkook protested, but didn't resist as Jimin got into the bed and wrapped his arms around the boy.
"You're not. And that's okay. You can cry. It's better to let things out." Jimin whispered and Jungkook remained frozen for a second or two, and then broke.
He couldn't hold his sobs in, his heart was aching, his stomach churning, all the butterflies piling on for the past weeks turned into anxiety and choked him until he couldn't breathe. Jimin's arms tightened around his waist and Jungkook turned around, hiccuping as he continued sobbing.
"W-why does he- h-he doesn't even care, Jimin. He-he was with another girl. H-he doesn't- he-he never-" Jungkook babbled and Jimin leaned in so Jungkook could rest his head on his shoulder. Jungkook was practically shaking in his hold and Jimin just held him tighter.
"Forget him, Kookie. I know it hurts right now, but he's not worth it." Jimin whispered. There was a small pause and then a soft sigh.
"I just.. I just thought he liked me." Jungkook breathed out finally and Jimin felt so disheartened at his words.
"I know, I know. Just go to sleep for now, bubba. Everything will be fine." Jimin whispered, unintentionally slipping in an endearing nickname he called his little brother every now and then.
Jimin held Jungkook until the boy's breathing became more steady and was asleep in Jimin's hold. Jimin, somehow still awake, turned Jungkook so he was comfortable on the bed and then got up- going over to his own bed to fall asleep.

ONE WEEK LATER
"Watch it, queer!" Taehyung snarled, sitting slouched on the plastic chair with his legs apart, his lap full of Eka, who was laughing obnoxiously. The boy who Taehyung yelled at cowered in fear, rushing away from Taehyung.
Jungkook watched as Taehyung threw his head back and smirked, his hand clearly placed on Eka's ass. Jungkook watched as Taehyung leaned forward and whispered things into her ear with an awfully cocky look on his face. Jungkook watched as Eka's cheeks turned pink and she leaned forward and began making out with him.
Jungkook couldn't watch anymore and tore his eyes away- turning his attention back to his five friends who were sitting around the lunch table, while Taehyung was sitting in one with some of the cheerleaders and basketball players.
"V's been acting weird lately." Namjoon said and Jimin snickered, shaking his head in agreement.
"For a bit he stopped acting like a sleazy fuckboy-douchebag, but he's back at it." Jin sighed, and Jungkook picked on his fingernails.
Who cares, right? He hadn't spoken to nor looked at the silver haired boy for a week. It was hard to avoid such a loud and boisterous personality, but Jungkook tried.
He did try. He really did. He watched as Taehyung mercilessly flirted with girls and disrupted the class during lessons and shoved freshmen into lockers and called them fags. He watched as Taehyung walked onto the football field and bossed the others around and got into fights for no reason. He watched as Taehyung took many more girls into his dorm every day, not just Eka. He watched as Taehyung made out with those girls during lunch or in the hallways every single day.
Like he was trying to prove a point. Perhaps to himself, or to others. Either way, he was with three girls in one day-minimum.
But Jungkook hated himself. Hated himself more than anything in the world. He hated himself because his heart still beat rapidly when he saw Taehyung walk past him. His heart still raced when Taehyung ignored him like he never existed. His stomach still exploded with butterflies when he saw Taehyung smile just a little bit. His dreams were filled with Taehyung lifting him up and kissing him like there was no tomorrow.
But not for Jungkook and Taehyung. That was over. And Taehyung moved on. He moved on the second Jungkook got out of his sight. Taehyung didn't care.
Jungkook did. And he hated himself for it.
"Guys let's go to class." Hoseok said and they all grabbed their bags and books and things and headed to their classes. Jungkook and Jimin had maths next, and both walked towards the classroom.
Once they reached, a little early, they set their books down onto the desks and Jungkook sat down, opening up his notebook and quickly scanning over his homework and finishing off the bits he didn't do.
"Hey Kook." A voice appeared and Jungkook looked up from his notebook.
"Yugyeom-" Jungkook smiled when he saw the brown-haired boy. "Hi!" Jungkook said.
"Have you done question 7?" Yugyeom asked and Jungkook shook his head. Yugyeom snickered.
"Me neither. Can we do it together?"
"Sure." Jungkook replied and watched as Yugyeom grabbed a chair and pulled it towards the desk, sitting down.
"Your handwriting is great, wow," Yugyeom said and Jungkook grinned.
"Thanks-" Jungkook began and then felt Yugyeom's hand place itself on his thigh. Yugyeom squeezed it lightly, before pulling it away. Jungkook's eyes widened a little, and his cheeks turned pink.
"Ohhh- okay, so you have to use sine with this angle?" Yugyeom asked, looking at Jungkook, whose cheeks were pink.
"W-what?" Jungkook squeaked and Yugyeom smirked, leaning over and tapping Jungkook's cheek. Jungkook gulped hesitantly.
"Yeah- um- you basically use the sine rule-" Jungkook started, but got cut off.
"Yugyeom get up." A deep voice snapped, one which Jungkook instantly recognized. Jungkook looked up and saw Taehyung and his heart began thumping hastily.
Yugyeom raised an eyebrow. "Just go around me." Yugyeom mumbled and Taehyung scrunched his nose, something Jungkook knew he did when he was trying not to lash out.
"Get up or I'll make you." Taehyung growled and Yugyeom looked a little scared so he shot up off the chair and walked back to where he usually sits, taking his book with him.
Jungkook looked up and locked eyes with Taehyung, who had an intense stare set in his dark eyes. Jungkook instantly averted his eyes and Taehyung walked to where he sits- unfortunately near Jungkook.
Wait.
Taehyung didn't.. even have to go around where Yugyeom was sitting to get to his seat. He didn't even have to make Yugyeom get up. Yet he did.
Jungkook hates jumping to conclusions.. but why would Taehyung make Yugyeom move away from Jungkook if it didn't bother him?
Interesting...
*
"Gyeomi!" Jungkook's loud voice coarsed through the hallway and some people turned to look at who was being so damn loud. Taehyung happened to be one of them.
Jungkook rushed up to Yugyeom and grabbed his arm. Yugyeom looked a little startled, but nonetheless had a faint blush on his cheeks.
"Let's go to practice." Jungkook chirped and Yugyeom snickered. "I was gonna go later with my friends," Yugyeom trailed and Jungkook stepped closer to him.
"I know. But let's go early. Alone. We could... fool around for a bit." Jungkook whispered and watched as Yugyeom's cheeks turned pink.
"Um. Yeah. S-sure. I'll just grab my bad." Yugyeom stammered and Jungkook left his hold and let him rush up to his locker to get his bag.
Jungkook turned to where Taehyung stood earlier and was almost pleased to see Taehyung staring at the scene that went on in front of him with darkened eyes, a vein on his neck. The second Taehyung saw Jungkook looking, he turned away.
Jungkook smirked to himself as he walked over to where Yugyeom was. Don't jump to conclusions, this is what ruined everything before.
But the question is, why did Taehyung look so pissed to see Jungkook whispering something into Yugyeom's ear?
And why did Taehyung snap orders at Yugyeom the whole time during practice? And why did he make Yugyeom go to the other side of the field (opposite of where Jungkook was)?
And why did he clench his fists when Yugyeom touched Jungkook's waist and why did he roll his eyes when Yugyeom made Jungkook laugh and why why why why?
Why was Taehyung doing all this if he didn't care. If he wasn't jealous.
