First Real Fight (part 2)

Quick AN: So sorry that it took so long for the second part to come out, I had to rewrite the chapter, though I do think that this part turned out better for the change.

Bryan went to the first place he thought the other Slayer would be, his house and knocked on the door. He got no answer but he could smell the other Slayer inside and thus decided to do what any hot head would do. He forced the door open.

The other Slayer didn't even seem to notice him, however, he was just staring blankly at the table. With a small frown on his face, Bryan went and sat beside the other. They sat in silence for a few moments before Bryan asked. "Are you ok, Mario?"

Mario closed his eyes as he took a deep breath before turning to him and saying. "No, I'm not! I hate that I have to keep this from him! I hate that it's making me more irritatable! Heck, I just hate what happened!" The cavern dragon slayer was hunched in on himself. "You're lucky that it didn't hit you too..."

Bryan could only nod at that.

A few weeks ago, the two had gone out on a quest together as they were both dragon slayers and wanted to see what the other was made of. It was supposed to be a simple quest, but it ended up being much more complicated.

You see, they had been attacked by someone who, for some reason that neither knew, was an expert on dragon slayers. He had been able to predict and avoid their attacks easily even as he shot these weird orbs at them. They were able to drive him off with a mixture of wit and brute strength, but not before Mario was hit with one of the orbs. Though for some reason, it didn't do anything to him, which was rather odd.

When they had gotten back home, they had looked into what the orbs could possibly be as it didn't make sense for someone to send out an attack that would do nothing. They searched for hours for information before they had finally got a hit on something.

It was an old magic that was known to affect dragons and dragon slayers specifically. If a dragon or a dragon slayer was to get hit by this magic, it would slowly destroy their internal magic from the inside out. The breaking apart of the dragon's/ slayer's magic would cause them to become snappish and irritable but in such a way that only those close to them would really notice what was happening.

Mario hadn't wanted to tell the others about it, and Bryan had reluctantly agreed not to tell them.

"Are you sure we shouldn't go to the others and tell them what's happening?" Bryan asked the other gently. "If nothing else, it'll explain to Daveed why you're acting like this."

"... I can't." Mario said quietly.

"Why not?" Bryan asked.

"What could I even tell them? Hey, guys, I'm losing my magic, please don't kick me to the cur-"

"They wouldn't do that! They'd be doing everything in their power to help you so that you don't lose your magic!" Bryan cut him off before he could finish.

"But what if they did?" Mario countered.

"What if your mate breaks up with you because you can't tell him about a major problem of yours!" Mario went silent at that counter-argument. He really didn't want to lose Daveed but at the same time, what would ice devil slayer think of dating a dragon slayer who was losing his magic?

He opened his mouth as if to voice this question only for Bryan to cut him off. "And if you think he'd do anything other than try and help you, then you clearly haven't seen how much he adores you."

Mario bit his lip. He wanted to believe Bryan, but at the same time, he had been acting so... snappish and mean to Daveed since the incident. Why would the ice mage want to stay with him? Especially after tonight. Especially after he had yelled at him, rather loudly in fact.

"... I'm afraid." He admitted quietly.

"Daveed will understand." Bryan tried to convince him. "I'm telling you, he'd do anything to help you."

"Even after the way I've been acting? Even after the way I yelled at him?" Angry tears started to fall down his cheeks. "If anything, I wouldn't blame Daveed for breaking up with me at this point."

"He wouldn-"

"He would! He should! I've been a total jerk to him these past weeks because of this stupid spell. I yelled at him! He should break up with me! I don't... I don't deserve him..." Mario looked down.

"Mario..." Bryan said sadly. "Don't say that."

"You think I want him to leave me? No! But it would be my own actions that caused it! Mine!" The tears continued to roll down his cheeks.

"I'm sure if you just explain the reason why he'll understand. But if you don't tell him, then he more than likely will."

Bryan instantly recognized the mistake in his words as Mario froze before bursting into sobs. The sight of the usually stoic dragon slayer crying that hard broke Bryan's heart. He didn't know what to do. He wasn't the best at comforting people and well, he probably wouldn't be enough for Mario.

At the same time, he knew he couldn't leave the other dragon slayer like this, even if it was to get someone who could help. He bit his lip, contemplating what to do before there was a knock on the door.

Bryan glanced at the sobbing dragon slayer before calling. "Come in."

Jakey walked in the door, surprising him until he saw a knowing look on Jakey's face. That was when Bryan realized that Jakey had most likely gone back in time to help with the situation. Before he could say a word, Jakey was at Mario's side, hugging the cavern dragon slayer.

Jakey nodded to him over Mario's head and Bryan took that as a cue to go get the person who would be able to help Mario the most.

Daveed.

AN: Wooo that was a lot longer than I thought it would be. And yes, there will be another part to this. First Real Fight is a three-shot for this one-shot book. Don't worry, part 3 will probably come out sooner than part 2 did.
